so! in this au basically everything in TADC and ena are the same, its just they take place in the same world!

so its no secret the circus is kinda buggy. we see it a lot in the pilot with things clipping, things popping in and out of existence, etc. turns out when you have an early ai running the show and throw human souls into the mix the computer doesn't run as smoothly as one would hope.

with so much going on at once, i'd assume the game would need a LOT of memory to keep track of it all.

then we have the void, which is kinda like going out of bounds...why can they even go into the void? honestly probably because of how buggy everything is dsgsh even caine's aware of it being there

so if you've ever gone out of bounds in earlier games, sometimes especially buggy games will just start pulling from the game's memory to figure out what the hell to put there. i'm especially thinking of early pokemon games. they're a MESS

(fun fact! pokemon RGBY/RBY is so buggy that you can program the memory from inside the game! people have even figured out how to run code IN OTHER GAMES by abusing pokemon's memory)

back to the digital circus. what if it's storing its memory somewhere out in the void? what if there's a whole "glitch city" out there that's simply garbage data from the circus?

well, what other world is full of nonsensical, well...EVERYTHING?

strange, once lively adventures left to collect dust in the game's memory. maze-like hallways and other inexplicable maps. some fully complete and populated while others sit unfinished

to put it simply: in this AU ena's world is the circus' memory dump!

i'd like to think caine is aware of this, but doesn't let the humans know as it's 1, not very safe due to being even more buggy than the circus, and 2, would probably drive them mad.

(something i realized while typing this out, its kinda funny that mannequins are NPCs in both worlds lol, wonder if caine just pulls em from here when he needs em)

i could even go further! like what the hell is an ena and why do npcs seem to not like them? whats their purpose?

well...what if they weren't meant to exist at all?

what if, while the game's ai was trying to learn, it tried to pull data from the humans to try to properly reproduce how they behave? but since new humans are almost always distressed...well, these smaller test runs are incredibly unstable. they achieve emotion, something even caine struggles with! but it's too much to bear, becoming an vulnerability in the code. enas are troublemakers. they break the game by simply existing.

so thats my silly little au with extremely niche usage :]

So basically I call it the Buggy Digital Circus. As the name suggests, there's lots of bugs and glitches.

Caine is dead. Because of this, there aren't any adventures, nor does anything get fixed. All NPCs that exist have had their files corrupted and no longer work (rip Dr football).

If someone does this idea, I think either Pomni, Ragatha or Jax would try to get ringmaster power and try to accommodate everyone the way they actually need to be.

All abstraction gets undone and everyone that went insane are just trapped in the cellar. Sometimes people can hear them yelling. Since abstraction isn't possible anymore, it's not a threat. Death is, though. When you die, you don't respawn.

Human bodies and digital avatars kind of meld together, so for example, Gangle has her human body, but she can't see it. It manuvers with her avatar. Since she's the least human, she has fingers but they're invisible and she doesn't know how to use them, etc etc. You can actually touch the human body on all the circus members, it basically overlaps with the digital avatar, creating a weird amalgamation of invisible human body parts and digital being.

Zooble and Kinger have it really weird, by the way. Kinger has invisible arms and Zooble can't change their parts without pulling on a real limb.

Also, they can feel the headsets on their faces. The problem is, is that it's the only thing on their bodies that they can't grab at, so no escaping for them.

Also, pain exists! They still don't need to eat or drink, but sleep is important. Everyone is very sensitive to pain and tries to avoid it as much as possible. Ragatha's mom instincts go wild really often lmao

Outside is dangerous too! For some reason I decided that if they went outside, a file would temporarily corrupt and they'd be in a coma for a few days. Like, immediately pass out outside and someone has to become a vampire and stay away from the sunlight to get them.

Again, if someone decides to draw this or make a fic or something, I'd love to see it because I can't make content of it myself (I have no idea how I would draw it lol)

It's based off those point and click games and games like Endacopia so there's your quick background and here's how it starts.

The amazing digital circus was an anticipating game that was meant to release by a company name ||redacted||. The game release in ||Redacted|| to the public and the reviews weren't that great for the game. A lot of people complain that the game was really buggy and that it crashed very often. This was a big issue too ||Redacted|| this game was meant to be their chance to get out of bankruptcy and the reviews weren't that great to make it even worse multiple kids had to be rushed to the hospital due to epilepsy seizures caused by the game's bright lights and flashing images. With the kids having to be sent to the hospital and all the bad press. ||Redacted|| and the filing for bankruptcy and was bottomed by the C&A Corporation. C&A decide to scrap the amazing digital circus game Breeze the assets and characters for their new project called "The amazing Fun-house". You have been selecting to be one of the first ever beta testers for the game.

Just wanted to know how the blood sucking work? Does he like inject others with his tongue or is it more like a vampire biting style situation lol?

He uses his tongue to suck the blood up thru a tiny hole like a straw. Like how a real mosquito does so, he injects his tongue and venom as well to get the blood flowing (this unfortunately leaves the spot very itchy) and drinks it from there. He most often does so from Ragatha or Pomni, but really anyone except Gangle (and any AIs) is at his expense.

Its not the most comfortable situation but thankfully the prick itself feels like a big needle at most
