Do you have any facts about Tropius and its neck fruits?
Tropius Facts
Art by Taira Akitsu)
-The scientific name for Tropius is "Apatosaurus Fructus" which roughly translates to "Deceptive Lizard Fruit"
-Tropius are related to the Meganium line, and are modern-day relatives of the Aurorus line
-Bannanas picked from Tropius is often used for medical purposes
-Tropius originated from a region south of Unova but ended up migrating to other regions
-While Tropius most often eat the bananas that grow on them, nanab berries are often replacements; especially for one's in colder regions
-Despite their wings, Tropius wings aren't strong enough to keep them fly8ng for very long, so they most often fly in short bursts
-The large leaves on their bodies don't just help them fly; they also work for temperature control
-Tropius are very gentle Pokemon, even in the wild. They'll often give their fruit to hungry pokemon, and even curiously fly up to traveling trainers to inspect them
(Art by aoki)
-Tropius in different regions have different flavors of fruit. The ones in Hoenn tend to have a more savory flavor while the ones in Alola tend to have a sweeter flavor
-Tropius will often make their nests on the forest floor, but raise their young high in the canopy, away from potential predators
-In the spring, Tropius will release pollen from their fruit which will fertilize the trees they eat from. Male Tropius tend to release more pollen
-Deforestation is causing the Tropius population to dwindle. There are active conservation efforts in Hoenn and Alola that are made to protect Tropius, however, other regions tend to struggle with this
-Tropius are pokemon that mate for life. When courting, males will often offer their bananas to their potential partner
-For the first few weeks of a young Tropius, their mothers will mush up their bananas and feed them to their young
-Female Tropius usually lay up to 8-10 eggs at a time
-To help with the fruit growth on their bodies, Tropius will sometimes cover themselves in soil when they sleep
