kyoya otori and emu otori have a strange amount of narrative and thematic similarity despite being opposite personalities. the babies in very rich and important families, with a slew of very successful older siblings. theyre both consistently underestimated by their families, with an expectation to fit in a certain box prescribed for them. their inherent personalities - kyoyas sharp and callous ambition, emus bubbly and whimsical dreams for the park - make fitting in this box a struggle, and diminishing themselves to conform to it leaves them miserable

when they meet someone who loves and supports them as they are, without these expectations - tamaki and later the host club for kyoya, wxs for emu - they come into their own and it becomes apparent that they have unique skills that are valuable to their families' business that would have otherwise been stifled. but now they have a new dream that makes them happy, and they realise following in their siblings' footsteps isnt what they want after all. and with their family accepting them as they are, they have a new goal and they thrive

oh and theyre both rich and powerful otori families with business in recreation whaaat

i need kyoya and emu as each others favourite cousins to the complete bafflement of everyone thank you

Showering with Tamaki — just the two of you getting clean for the night, the warm water cascading down your skin as you wash up with a soapy lather. 

After the shower, you dress in one of his oversized t-shirts and a pair of shorts, freshly moisturized skin slipping under the sheets to settle into bed together. 

“Can you smell my shampoo?” you ask, leaning your head towards him. 

Tamaki inhales the scent and nods, “Yeah, smells good…” he pulls back, fingers brushing away at your hair. "You're like a little flower," he mumbles, the tips of his ears a pale pink as you peer up at him and giggle, a lopsided grin forming on his lips to match.

It was only a matter of time before you were found out. You'd assumed it would have been months ago - after the dark haired elf had seen you in the wild gardens, your hands stained with the juice of sloe berries and your own blood, fingers viciously pricked on the blackthorn bushes. He hadn't shouted, hadn't done more than rasp as he approached, offering you a handkerchief. He'd all but vanished before you could accept it, and you'd had to snatch the damn thing out of the air.

For a few nights afterwards, you'd been convinced it was over. You'd been certain the elves would come for you in the dark, even though the elf you'd seen hadn't been cruel in words or actions. You'd returned after a week, unable to keep away from a source of non-rotting food. In the intervening months, you gathered berries a plenty, extra root vegetables that the elves deemed too small to do anything with, any and all manner of food that made your mouth water and your body grow stronger. Some days you felt like you were being watched, but until now, the only elf you'd laid eyes on had been the one with the handkerchief.

"Stealing?" One of the elves says with a snicker. "You've no idea what we do to thieves around here, do you?" He scowls, leaning in close- and a soft, wavering voice chokes out:

"-s-spare."

The elves turn, and your heart trips, spying the dark haired elf who'd given you his handkerchief. His shoulders are hunched around his ears, eyes flickering between your face and the ground.

"Speak up, Amajiki," one of the elves sneers.

You can't make out much from him. His voice is too soft, and he's clearly nervous, but you hear spare, and my f-favor, and all the elves are slack jawed when they find his handkerchief tied around your bicep.
