Thirsty Thursday - Losing It
steddie, omegaverse, virginity kink, loss of virginity, mdni 🔞
Tumblr media
Steve has always been good, and good omegas kept their legs closed. His mother loved to say, “No one buys the cow when they can get the milk for free.”
Which, gross. He isn’t a cow, and any milk he has will be for his pups, thank you very much. But his mom clearly knows what she’s talking about—former stewardess who landed a hotshot business man at 21 and got him to build her a house just close enough to her dirt poor parents to rub it in. Who got pregnant a year later, stopping after Steve because, “Pregnancy is miserable, Steven. I could barely keep anything down with you! I lost weight and still got stuck with stretch marks!”
She only started saying that after he presented, while the cow thing started much earlier. Mostly about his father’s secretaries. And anyone in short skirts.
But his mother always would say, “You’re such a good omega, Stevie. So sweet and pure. You’re going to make an alpha very happy someday. Just make sure you get what you deserve first.”
Robin says his mom gave him a complex, fucked him up. “Seriously, Steve, it’s like a fetish. You get off on blue-balling your dates,” she says one night while Steve is shelving new releases.
“I do not! I just wanna make sure I find the right alpha.”
“You thought I might be-”
“Shut up!”
Neither of them needs to think any more about his drunken confession when they first became friends. How he tried to kiss her before she admitted to only liking girls and awkwardly screeching that he had nice tits but she was much more interested in playing with Tammy Thompson’s boobies.
“Besides, you’re a big ol’ virgin, too!”
“Yeah, but not because I wanna be! I’m a virgin in a loser way; you’re a virgin in a porno way!”
Steve’s lower lips trembles, his shoulders hunch, and in moments Robin is at his side.
“I’m sorry, that was bitchy!”
“No, you’re right! I’m a prude and a tease and I’m—Rob, I’m really fucked up.”
They talk it out the rest of their shift, and Steve makes up his mind to find a decent alpha and get it over with, rip off the bandaid so he doesn’t have some virgin/whore complex when he finally gets married.
But finding a decent alpha is *hard* and he goes on too many first dates and zero second dates. He’s about ready to give up, to focus on re-applying to colleges instead, when it finally happens.
He’s running late, picking up Dustin as a favor to Mrs. Henderson, forgetting he needed gas until he’s on the way.
It’s dark, and he pulls into the near empty parking lot, spotting Dustin leaned against a shitty white van. Steve parks and rushes out, apologizing as he pulls Dustin to him, crushing him to his chest.
“It’s okay, Steve,” Dustin huffs, pushing him back. “Eddie waited with me.”
“Figured we’d give you another ten minutes before I drove him home myself,” Eddie Munson says with a smile, blowing out cigarette smoke. “You okay, Harrington?”
“Yeah. Yes. Thank you,” he starts, blushing, not sure why he suddenly feels warm. “For waiting with Dustin, I mean.”
Eddie drops his cigarette, crushes it with the toe of his boot. “Yeah, of course. You sure you’re okay?”
“Yeah, Steve, you’re being weird.”
“No, I’m not! Get in the car, Dustin, your mom is waiting. See you around, Eddie?”
“Yeah, see you around.”
Steve considers showing up early next week when he picks Dustin up from Hellfire. Or hanging around the record store in hopes Eddie comes in. But in the end he decides that he’s better off being straightforward and asking for what he wants. It’s not like an alpha would say no. Not to what Steve is offering. Not when he smelled interest and fear coming off Eddie the night before.
And with how his spicy scent made Steve’s mouth water… He thinks he’ll have fixed his little problem soon.
So he gets dressed as carefully as possible, and drives to Eddie’s.
He knocks, pleased when Eddie is the one to answer and not his uncle, the alpha blinking against the daylight. “Um, hey, Steve, what are you doing here?” he asks, sounding a little bit sleepy.
“Can I come in?” Steve blurts, nervous, maybe even a little bit terrified.
“Yeah, of course.” Eddie steps aside, bowing as Steve walks past him, and it might just be what he’s planning to do, but Steve’s never been so charmed in his life. “You sure you’re okay? Because you seem kinda… Off.”
“I’m fine! Honest. I just…”
“Steve?”
“Iwanyoutafuckme.”
Even with how fast he mumbled it, Eddie clearly understood. “What the fuck? What? Why! Why ME?”
“Because I’m tired of waiting, and all the alphas I know suck, and you’re weird but nice, and…” Steve pauses, swallows hard as he looks straight into Eddie’s dark chocolate eyes.
“And no one would believe me anyway, right? So no one has to know.”
Shame flames up his neck and over his cheeks, because that was part of it. The tiniest bit. But Steve bites his lip and shakes his head. “I figured you wouldn’t make fun of me. For not being good at it.”
“With how sweet you smell, I doubt any alpha would tell you that you were bad at sex, Steve.”
“They sure do like calling me a frigid bitch and saying my pussy’s gotta be too dry to feel good since ‘I’m so good at saying no.’ But, sure…” He sniffles, and Eddie steps in close.
“I’m sorry, Stevie. I didn’t—” Eddie reaches to cup Steve’s cheek, and on instinct the omega leans into the touch.
He purrs, takes a step closer of his own and scents at Eddie’s neck. “You smell real nice, Eddie,” Steve whispers, his lips ghosting along the skin of his throat.
“You smell like hot apple pie.”
“Oh yeah?”
“With vanilla ice cream.”
“Nancy said my scent was really mild, and Tommy always said it was sour…”
“So, you’re just sweet for me, Stevie?”
“I wanna be real sweet for you, Eddie. Let me, please?”
Eddie can only nod. He leads Steve back to his room, watches as Steve strips out of his clothes, revealing delicate pink lace. “You really want this…”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I really do.” Steve takes Eddie’s hand, brings it to his crotch, lets him feel how much slick already clings to the lacy fabric of his panties. “I want you to be the first alpha to touch me here. I thought about it all night, how good your knot would feel in my tight, hot pussy.”
“I don’t think I’ll last long enough to make it good. Shit, Steve, I’ve never—”
“It’s okay. We can always wait until you’re ready to go again—”
Eddie kisses him then, with far too much teeth, but Steve feels the desire in it and grins.
He’s getting what he wants.
Eddie’s right in the end, popping his knot too soon. Steve cries out in pain, his own dick going soft as he whines through the alpha’s near-violent orgasm.
But the second time is better. After that, Eddie begs to eat him out, to come all over his tits, for Steve to stuff those panties in his mouth and ride him.
By the time he leaves, he has a date for the following evening.
Now that Eddie’s gotten a taste, Steve’s pretty sure he’s not going anywhere.

A/N : this chapter happens in the days after chapter one. Thank you so much to everyone who read and liked the last chapter, it really means the world to me!
CHAPTER ONE
CHAPTER TWO
You didn’t have the nerve to tell Tammy that you’d rejected Billy’s advances and that she’d probably not get the job because of you. You let her hold onto the idea that you’d been doing something good for her, instead of something stupid for you. The whole thing reminded you of why you’d become friends with her in the first place; when Tammy was being nice to you, when she wasn’t making petulant demands, she could be great to be around.
But, she kept asking when your date with Billy was and by the third day of waiting to hear about the job, you were taking extra deliveries just to avoid the apartment. You knew you’d have to tell her sooner rather than later, but you really were hoping it would be later, at least after you’d figured out a way to explain to her that you’d cost her a job because you’d told Billy Russo no.
And when she came into the den screeching and clutching her phone? You thought she finally knew the truth and were ready to give her the apology that you’d spent the last few days trying to practise.
“I got the fucking job!” She squealed, jumping up onto the sofa beside you.
“You - what?” It took a moment to hear her over the screeching and - no, surely Billy hadn’t given her a job just as a way of getting to you. He was a businessman, he wouldn’t do something so dumb just to get you into bed.
After the initial excitement fizzled out, Tammy dropped onto the sofa to sit beside you. “I start on Monday! I can’t believe I’m finally going to get my parents off my back.”
“I thought you didn’t even want the job at Anvil? Before the interview you said it sounded boring.”
“That was until I saw the guys that work there, I mean, it’s literally a building full of hotties. And I can still do auditions in the evenings and on weekends. Besides, most people work crappy jobs before they get famous.” To your surprise she was being very mature about the whole thing, though you weren’t sure how she’d deal with actually working a nine-to-five job.
“Well, I’m happy for you.” You forced a smile because you were happy, even if you weren’t sure that it wasn’t all going to fall apart when Billy realised he was never going to convince you to go to dinner with him
“Okay but you’re going to have to promise me you won’t fuck this up for me.”
“How would I even -”
“I get it, Billy Russo is hot, but I know what you’re like with guys...”
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” You knew exactly what she meant, and that was the worst part. Tammy had tried, and failed, in the past to set you up, to put you on dating apps, and play wingman for her during double dates, and every time it had ended badly.
“Just don’t go leading him on and then ghosting or whatever it is you normally do to guys. I don’t need you pissing off my new boss.”
“I’ll try really hard not to, Tammy.” If she noticed you were being sarcastic, she didn’t seem to care.
It wasn’t long before she disappeared off to celebrate with her friends, leaving you alone in the apartment, leaving you to try and figure out what was going on. As much as Tammy was - well, let’s just say she had certain skills that would be helpful in a secretarial position, you just couldn’t figure out why she’d been given the job.
Billy Russo wasn’t an idiot, that much you were certain of; he wouldn’t hire Tammy just because of you. In fact, he probably wasn’t even involved in the hiring process. You were overthinking it. And, ultimately, it didn’t even matter because you weren’t going to see him again.
You weren’t going anywhere near the Anvil building ever again.
But that didn’t stop you from opening your laptop and Googling his name.
It felt like an invasion of privacy, reading through articles about Anvil’s financial successes, about the heroic ex-Marine who’d built the company from nothing and now gave so much back to his fellow veterans. Your stomach knotted at every photo taken at some gala or corporate event where he had some stunning woman hanging off his arm (women who, upon reading the image captions were revealed to be leaders in their fields; lawyers, models, psychiatrists, and even a surgeon). Jealousy had you closing your laptop, and self-loathing had you making a promise to yourself to stay away from Billy Russo and Anvil.
But it wasn’t that simple. You kept thinking about his smile, the way his dark eyes had looked at you like he wanted nothing more than to take you apart piece by piece, and the way his laugh had felt like the rarest sound you could draw from him. Most of all, you kept thinking about the kiss, playing it over and over. Sometimes you even found yourself wishing that you’d just said yes - what was the worst that could have happened?
(No, no, you didn’t want to think about that.)
You couldn’t stop yourself from going back to the Google search, over and over again, just to look at him. There was just something about him, something that made you feel like a ridiculous teenager with a crush, but every time you looked at his eyes, it did something to you; it made you want something you knew you couldn’t have.
You needed to stay away from him.
But Tammy had other plans.
Her first day of work, the following Monday, she’d begged you to drop her off. Then, once you were there, she’d demanded that you help her carry her things to the door, using the reasoning that she had taken the job for you as well as her, so you could keep the apartment that you both loved so much.
All you wanted to do was get out of there as quickly as possible, so the moment Tammy was by the door you were pushing the box into her arms and stepping away, all the while telling her that you couldn’t pick her up later because of work. Tammy tried to complain, tried to talk over you, but you didn’t stop; you were going to get as far away from that building as quickly as possible. Ignoring her frustration, you shouted good luck over your shoulder and started back towards your car.
Only, there was a surprise waiting for you when you got there.
“I like your strategy; in and out before anyone can notice you.” Billy smirked, his arms folded across his chest as he leaned against the driver’s side door of your car.
“Well, clearly it didn’t work...” you answered awkwardly, stopping a few feet away from him, out of his reach.
“It’s hard to pull off when you’re dealing with a Recon Marine,” he laughed, still smirking that smirk that looked so good on him. “I hoped we’d run into each other again.”
“It’s hardly running into each other when you own the building and you know what my car looks like,” you shrugged and Billy’s smile waivered a little. Your stomach knotted at the sight, at the way his playful smile dimmed to something that seemed almost forced. He took a breath, unfolded his arms and stood away from your car.
“Look, I just wanted to talk - to apologise - I guess I was a little heavy-handed last time,” the words were enough of a distraction that he managed to take a couple of steps towards you. “I just - I’m not very good at...” he let out an awkward laugh and threw his arms out in a shrug, not finishing the thought.
“Asking women out?” You offered with an uncomfortable huff of laughter. “I don’t believe that.”
“No?”
“No.”
“Why not?” And, just like that, you were being pulled into another one of his little games.
You could have walked around him, could have told him that you needed to go, but you didn’t. The truth was, that you enjoyed it, you liked that playful side of him, even though it wasn’t fair of you to indulge him when you knew you’d still have the same answer for him at the end of all this.
“Because you’re - you.” And that was all the answer you could offer him.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Billy laughed and your cheeks started to warm again.
“You don’t exactly strike me as the type of guy who struggles to get dates?” He remained silent, a questioning look on his face; he wanted you to say what you both knew you were thinking. “You know, the whole tall, dark, and handsome thing you’ve got going on...”
“And you think that makes it easier for me?” His smile was back, that playful glint in his eye that you just couldn’t seem to say no to.
“Doesn’t it?”
“Well, you said no, didn’t you?”
Shit. You’d walked yourself into a trap.
“Not because of you - or, I mean, not because of anything you did. I just don’t date.” You started to play with the cuff of your hoodie, not sure what else you were supposed to say to him.
“What if it wasn’t a date? What if it was just two people going for dinner?”
“I think it’s a bit late for just dinner, Billy.”
“‘cause I kissed you?” your gaze dropped, cheeks burning hotter. “I shouldn’t have, I should’ve waited, I just - I have poor impulse control when it comes to things I want.”
You didn’t say anything - what could you even say to any of that?
“What if it wasn’t dinner?”
“Billy...” you sighed.
“Is it really so bad that I want to spend some time with you? Get to know you a little?”
Was it? The terrifying thing was the fact that he almost had you convinced, almost had you relenting and agreeing with him.
“I’m not really worth knowing,” you shrugged, “I’m nothing special, Billy. I’m just a bike messenger who spends most of her time driving her roommate around.”
“I like talking to you, you make me laugh,” Billy shrugged. “And I think you are worth knowing, and I don’t give a shit if you’re a bike messenger or a brain surgeon, it doesn’t change anything.”
“Right, one of New York's most eligible bachelors taking a bike messenger out to dinner, I can just picture it,” an embarrassing snort of laughter escaped you, “probably couldn’t take me to any of the fancy places that you’re used to, so what does that leave? Pizza Hut or Five Guys?”
“‘I’ll take you for pizza if that’s what you want. We could go right now?”
“Billy, it’s eight-thirty in the morning, I’m pretty sure Pizza Hut isn’t open yet.” You laughed, despite the feeling that you’d been letting this play out for far too long now.
“I’m sure we could find a way to kill some time until it opens?”
“Oh really?” You shot him a look, eyebrows raised, very unimpressed with what you thought he was implying.
“Hey, I meant go get a coffee or something, get your mind out of the gutter.” He grinned and you couldn’t help but laugh again.
“I’d just be wasting your time.”
“I don’t think I’d consider any time spent with you a waste,” he retorted without even missing a beat.
“You don’t even know me.”
“I don’t, but I want to.”
“Why?” Why was he being so persistent? What did he think he was going to get from you?
“Why does anyone get to know anyone?”
“I don’t know.” And you really didn’t, that was the saddest part of all. “I’m not your type.”
“And what do you think my type is?” He asked, barely managing to hold back a laugh.
“Doctors, lawyers, psychiatrists - women who make at least six figures a year?” You realised far too late what you’d given away. “Women whose wardrobes cost more than I’ll make in my lifetime?”
“Did you Google me?” Billy asked, not even trying to hold back the smirk.
“N-no, I just - it came up when I was researching the job for Tammy.”
You fell silent and, for a few moments, so did Billy, long enough for it to make things feel all the more awkward when he finally spoke again.
“I’m not a bad guy, y’know.”
You looked at him, confused, not sure what he meant. Your fingers kept picking at the stitching on your cuff, and Billy seemed to notice.
“I’m making you uncomfortable.” He was, but you hated that he knew it. It wasn’t so much him that was the issue, it was you, it was all the messed up things in your past that made you the way you were.
“I don’t think you’re a bad guy, Billy." You said, not wanting to address whether or not he was making you uncomfortable because it was less him and more the general situation.
"Then let me prove it to you." You didn’t respond. “Just give me one night.”
“And, what? I’m supposed to fall madly in love with you?”
“No.”
“Then what?”
“Not that. I don’t - love isn’t a thing I’m capable of, it’s not something I’m interested in.” He explained, like it was such a simple and ordinary thing.
“Then why waste a night together if you don’t even want it to go anywhere?”
“There are plenty of other places it could go. I could show you the best night of your life and, at the end of it, if you wanted to walk away from me, you could.” Billy shrugged.
“So you just want sex? There are easier ways to get laid, Billy.” You told him with an awkward sort of laugh.
“I don’t want easy, I want you.” Normally you’d laugh at a line like that, but the way he was looking at you, the way he looked like he was barely holding back from showing you just what he meant right there in the parking lot kept you silent. “Tell me you haven't thought about it, that you’re not thinking about it right now; how it’d feel to spend the night with me inside you.”
You bit your lip, giving away far more than you wanted to.
Yes, you’d thought about it - how could you not?
“Billy...” you sounded almost breathless and that really didn’t help the point you were trying to make.
“I can make you feel things you’ve never felt before.” The way he said it made you want it, made you want things that you knew you shouldn’t.
“So, you’d fuck me then leave me?”
“Not if you didn’t want that.” He took the slightest step forwards and you couldn’t bring yourself to recoil.
“But you said -”
“I said I wasn’t interested in love, that doesn’t mean that it has to be a one and done thing, if you don’t want it to be.” Billy offered like this was some business deal and you were negotiating the terms. You could see why Anvil was so successful with him in charge.
“Fuck buddies then? Until - what? - you get bored of me?” You didn’t even know why you were encouraging him, why you were playing his game and letting the conversation drag on.
“Or you get bored of me,” Billy shrugged. “Admit it, you’re thinking about it. You’re thinking about what it’d be like to fuck me.”
“Maybe I am, but that doesn’t change anything. I don’t date and I don’t think sleeping with you would do either of us any good.”
He waited a moment before dropping; “was the last guy really that bad?”
And, just like that, everything seemed to change.
“What?” It was obvious though, wasn’t it? You should have been surprised that he hadn’t put it together sooner; you didn’t date because your ex had been a real piece of shit to you. A moment later, you shook your head. “It’s not - I don’t like to talk about it...”
You steeled yourself for what came next; the endless questions, trying to figure out what had happened to you and just how bad it was, how he could fix you. Only, it never came. He didn’t push, didn’t try to convince you that he was better than whoever might have hurt you. Instead, he seemed resigned, like he knew he couldn’t do any of that.
“I’m sorry,” he offered softly, “I’ll leave you alone.”
And, just like that Billy seemed to give up, his smile almost completely gone, replaced by a look that you didn’t want to think about. It wasn’t quite pity, but instead an uncomfortable compassion, an almost understanding. Someone had hurt him too, you realised. You frowned, frozen in place as he closed the distance between you and gently pressed his lips to your cheek.
“You know where to find me if you ever change your mind.”
As he pulled away from you, your breath caught in your chest, but you didn’t dare watch as he walked away from you. It was too dangerous, you knew you’d say something, knew you’d call him back.
CHAPTER THREE
END NOTE : so the first two chapters were mostly set up, from next chapter onwards things will actually start to go somewhere. From this point on, things will get smutty and dark. The next three chapters are mostly done and I'll probably start scheduling chapters to post on the weekends going forwards.
Thanks for reading, I hope you have a wonderful day!

A Pattern of Behavior
Sequel to Mama Bear.
Mrs. Benson drifted into the office in a lazy manner nearly two hours after the principal called her. She seemed unconcerned and unbothered by being summoned to the school for the fifth time this year. In fact, she was smiling slightly.
"Tammy, Tammy, Tammy…" she muttered, staring at the topless principal. Tammy still had one hand in her panties, and her mouth was sagging open like she was just too exhausted to close it. She had ordered her secretary to alert her when Mrs. Benson arrived so that she could continue to masturbate in peace. Unfortunately, her secretary was in a similar state on the other side of the door.
Mrs. Benson closed the door to the office softly and stepped closer. The principal was somewhat aware of her presence, but was still preoccupied with her work.
"It seems my son really did a number on you, Tammy. Look at you. Tits out. Fingers working that pussy. And right here in front of a student's mother. You must be a real whore."
"Whore…" Tammy groaned subconsciously.
Mrs. Benson pulled off her own top and sat down in the chair opposite the principal. She heard the secretary cum loudly outside.
"You called me here to talk about a 'troubling pattern of behavior.' Were you referring to your inability in control yourself? You must've been. Surely you were calling me for help with your behavioral compulsions. I mean just fucking look at yourself. Disgraceful."
Tammy moaned and groped at her chest.
"Can't even cum, can you?"
"No," she whimpered. "Need…"
"Shut up! Last time I was in this office for some ill-conceived charge against my son I told you there would be consequences if you maligned him again. I told him that if he ever set foot in this office again, he had my express permission to use his abilities to punish you. I keep my promises, Ms. Johns. You're proof of that. Look at my tits, you dumb slut."
Immediately, Tammy's eyes - half-lidded and bleary - locked on Mrs. Benson's chest.
"These are the tits that control your mind. You remember?"
"Yes, Mistress."
"Cum suck on them and maybe I'll give you your release."
Tammy lunged for Mrs. Benson so eagerly that she fell to the floor. The mother laughed harshly as Tammy crawled awkwardly around the desk and climbed up into her lap to suckle on her perfect nipples. Mrs. Benson hummed happily as Tammy drank the milk that flowed into her mouth. They say in silence for some time, enjoying the left nipple then the right, until Paul's mother ran her fingers through Tammy's hair and gently eased her down to the floor.
She unzipped her pants and Tammy leaned in, understanding what was expected of her. Mrs. Benson's hips bucked into Tammy's talented tongue urging her deeper. Deeper into her cunt. Deeper into her trance. Until finally Mrs. Benson covered the principal's face in her juices.
"You did very well for a brainless whore. You may cum, Tammy."
Tammy's entire body erupted with hours of pent up pleasure. She tried to scream, but her voice gave out. She knelt there, mouth open fully, silently shrieking - every muscle tense, every artery on fire - until she collapsed to the floor in a sweaty heap.
Mrs. Benson stood and put her clothes back on. She looked down at the woman, lying in a puddle of her own submission.
"My son is not to be bothered again."
All Tammy could do was stare up at the ceiling and grunt incoherently.
"I'll take that as a 'Yes, Mistress.' You'll get control of your body again in a few minutes. When you do, put your clothes back on, for God's sake. This is a school."
Tammy opened walked out of the office, locking it behind her. She blew a kiss at the secretary who blushed furiously. She was proud of Paul for standing up for himself. She'd have to get him a little treat for getting so tough.
More to come.
Thanks for reading! If you are a fan of my work, consider buying me a coffee. Any contribution is insanely appreciated. 💖

of course rick would have been classified as a terrorist for trying to hack into the sibyl system thus ending as a criminal enforcer. he would be the reader’s “partner” though working with rick was everything but easy and somehow – god knows how – rick did hack into the system it’s just that no one realized it. until reader tried to shot him.

Chanel also used to work at Skip’s diner as a waitress along with Rosanna and her former boss Skip Hansley was very abusive and never gave them work breaks. But then, three days after working at the diner, Chanel got slapped on the face before receiving a scar on her back by Skip, but luckily, she was saved by her Prince Charming and savior, Declan Thomas O’Dwyer who witnessed Skip hurting her, and he had punched him in the face so hard before carrying Chanel to the hospital where she was staying in two weeks, causing her older brother to stay over and couldn’t bear to leave her all by herself, but luckily Chanel had her best friends who began taking turns to stay over at the hospital to look after her. Two weeks later after she got discharged from the hospital she and Rosanna became good friends with Kelly and Zeke, shortly before they all received verbal abuse from Skip Hansley until Kelly couldn’t handle the abuse from her boss and abusive aunt anymore and committed suicide by throwing herself off from the balcony, causing Chanel got severely traumatized by Skip and the death of her good friend. Until one year later, at the diner Chanel got herself slapped by Skip and got fired from the diner not only due to her poor performances but also letting her friends throwing drinks at him when she told him that there are ghosts at his diner, causing her to cry and went to the break room to clean up her locker but luckily Rosanna who couldn’t stand him yelling at them decided to quit her job. And one year later, Chanel and Rosanna got their new jobs as bar women at Byron’s nightclub with their friends and their siblings approved of them and were very happy for them and they worked from Fridays till Sundays. But shortly two nights after, Chanel, Rosanna, Priscilla, Aurora, Kathleen, Chloe and Aria came to Chanel’s apartment but they witnessed that her apartment had been broken in and found her ruthless misery landlady Quinn Quivers and former boss Skip Hansley slain to death in Quinn’s room causing Chanel to moved back in the condo she and Ernest shared before she moved to Rosanna’s apartment in East Harlem. Campaigners have issued a "red alert" over language included in the 2024 Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act that could pave the way toward banning student loan cancellation.
The current draft of the routine bill bars executive branch officials from cancelling or forgiving student loans taken out to pursue flight training or education at the undergraduate level, the Debt Collective warned on Wednesday.
"They're trying to make relief illegal," the group posted on social media.
Buried 1,000 pages in, the language flagged by the Debt Collective comes under the heading, "Prohibition on mass cancellation of eligible undergraduate flight education and training programs loans."
"The secretary, the secretary of the treasury, or the attorney general may not take any action to cancel or forgive the outstanding balances, or portion of balances, on any federal direct unsubsidized Stafford loan, or otherwise modify the terms or conditions of a federal direct unsubsidized Stafford loan, made to an eligible student, except as authorized by an act of Congress," the text reads.
The Debt Collective named Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), and Rep. Rick Larsen (D-Wash.) as particularly responsible for the language.
"Forty-five million student debtors need to see this and get very, very loud," the group said.
While the language only prohibits the executive cancellation of a certain subset of loans, experts and advocates warned lawmakers would not stop there.
"Make no mistake, this is a test flight," author and Debt Collective co-founder Astra Taylor wrote on social media. "If they can make student debt cancellation illegal for some people, they will do it for others. Student debtors and their allies need to stick together and stick up for each other."
Taylor urged anyone concerned about the language to contact the legislators flagged by the Debt Collective.
The Debt Collective called the language a "test run."
"If Congress will stop debt relief for pilots now, they'll do it to nurses tomorrow, teachers the next day, and social workers the day after," the group said.

days past au part 2
This part is about where people are in modern times (around 2020) (Uranium Kids aired/was made in the 2000's, but since Uranium is always behind on times it has a more 90's feel)
Penny and Ezra have their Legoland backstories minus the whole Johnny Moon incident. Instead of giving her a 7-Up CD Tammy befriends Penny
Penny and Ezra start living with their aunt Astrid and her partner Hank (Astrid and Ocean are still cousins in this AU!!)
Astrid was always the first to buy the Uranium Kids CDs, she hadn't watched any of them since the disappearances but couldn't bring herself to throw them away
Penny tries to talk about Ocean with Astrid a lot but Astrid always shuts her down
Sometimes Penny has dreams where she's with the camera club, from the point of view of someone they always refer to as Jane. She never forgets these dreams.
Tammy's family doesn't have cable so she grows up watching old TV shows like Uranium Kids. It was one of her favorites so when Penny asks her to help investigate what happened to the cast she almost immediately accepts
Cassandra is in her 40s (was in her 20s when she worked on the show) (Spoiler alert she's the baddie for this AU, sorry I needed someone to be the antagonist 😭)
Virgil lives with her as her assistant/secretary (was 19 when he worked on the show). He still makes music that he puts online and occasionally does gigs with his band. It's clear he wants a career in music, but no one knows why he doesn't quit his job with Cassandra.
No one has seen Cassandra since the disappearances. She never leaves her house and Virgil brings her all her groceries and packages. Her house is in the woods so no one really passes by, but there are rumors that it's surrounded by piles of dead birds.
In modern times the camera club is dead
Sort of. Some of them are ghosts

Tammy (full name Tamara Patricia Kramer) is the executive assistant and presidential secretary of the Kramer Works Company, the primary stakeholder of the company's Mechanizing Occupation Project, and (adopted) daughter to President Larry Kramer (who is much older in this AU btw, like hair visibly greying and everything), who, after an incident revolving around an ancient supercomputer, seems to have forgotten this about her.
Tammy is adept with machinery, able to pilot many different robotic weapons, including a personal mech referred to as her "Business Suit", and also carries a personal blaster. Her motives are not entirely clear, but it is implied that she intends to usurp the Kramer Works Company from her father.

Character Actress
Dorothy Green (born Dorothy Jeanette Hufford; January 12, 1920 – May 8, 2008)  Stage, film, and television actress. Her career spanned more than four decades, with her work principally being in supporting roles on many popular television series from the early 1950s into the 1980s.
Green got her first professional job on television on a live broadcast of the Jack Benny Program, in April 1953. She was cast in the supporting role of an office secretary in a sketch with Benny and his guest star, comedian Fred Allen. That same year, Green obtained several other roles on television and in films. For the remainder of the 1950s and into the 1970s, Green received many other acting opportunities in movies and on episodes in a wide variety of television series. Some examples of the latter are the Adventures of the Falcon, The Pepsi-Cola Playhouse, The Whistler, Mike Hammer, Studio 57, Casey Jones, The Real McCoys, Sugarfoot, Panic!, Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color, Gunsmoke, The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, 77 Sunset Strip, Thriller, The Investigators, Perry Mason, Wagon Train, Rawhide, Hawaiian Eye, Bonanza, My Three Sons, Kraft Mystery Theater, The Munsters, Tammy, The Virginian, Daniel Boone, The Outsider, Ironside, Mannix, Hawaii Five-O, Adam-12, and Emergency!.
In many of the previously noted television series, Green had significant supporting roles. One example of those performances is her role as Nancy Nagle on a 1960 episode of Gunsmoke titled "Say Uncle". In that episode's storyline, set in Dodge City, Kansas, in the 1870s, Green plays a wife whose husband is killed under suspicious circumstances while working with his wayward brother. Green's character must then contend with the anger of her vengeance-filled son and his intentions to hold his uncle accountable for his father's "accidental" death.
Green also appeared on some weekly television series during the 1970s, although most of her work in that period was in the long-running soap opera The Young & the Restless. For four years, beginning in 1973, she played the character Jennifer, the matriarch of the Brooks family in the daily series. After her work on The Young and the Restless, Green appeared on just four sitcoms between 1977 and 1981: The Love Boat, Fish, Hello, Larry, and Benson. Her final credited appearance on television was in 1997, in the role of Anna Lundt on the Canadian-produced television series Exhibit A: Secrets of Forensic Science. (Wikipedia)

CHAPTER ONE | CHAPTER TWO | CHAPTER THREE | CHAPTER FOUR
CHAPTER FIVE
The night of the gala came around a lot quicker than you wanted it to. Saying you were panicking at the thought of it all was something of an understatement; you even thought about cancelling but you and Billy hadn’t exchanged numbers and the thought of calling Anvil and leaving a message with his secretary seemed far too cruel.
You enlisted the help of Tammy to find an appropriate dress, though throughout the shopping process you had to put up with her jealous comments and her trying to dress you in something far more revealing than you wanted. But, in the end you found a forest green, long sleeved dress with a high neck that hugged your body enough to tease your curves without being so tight that it was uncomfortable. The only thing you weren’t sure about was the slit that ran up the left side of the skirt from ankle to thigh, but it was the only dress you had tried that didn’t make you uncomfortable.
Tammy managed to save you a second time when you realised that you had nothing but boots and sneakers, letting you borrow a pair of her Louboutin sandals. And, by the time you (or, rather Tammy) had curled your hair and put on some make-up, you felt like an entirely different person - you felt good, better than you had in a long time, almost like you really could be one of those women you’d seen hanging off Billy’s arm when you’d Googled him.
Between seven-thirty and eight you sat in silence, just watching the clock, anticipation and dread warring inside of you over what you were about to do. He’d said that your night together could be whatever you wanted it to be, but you still had no idea what you wanted.
When the knock at the door finally came, you felt your heart stutter.
And there he was; flowers in his hand and wearing a black tux that just screamed fuck me. You were lost for words but, luckily for you, so was Billy. Your cheeks warmed as he looked at you, his dark eyes taking in the sight of you from head to toe and, even though the dress left plenty to the imagination, you felt naked in front of him.
“These are for you,” he held out the bouquet to you, twenty-four roses, each flower a deep shade of red.
“You didn’t have to,” you answered as you took them, but you were so glad he had, “they’re beautiful, thank you. Let me just -” you glanced over your shoulder, “- I’ll just put them in some water.”
When you stepped back, Billy stepped into the apartment, closing the door behind him and following you towards the kitchen. At some point Tammy had made herself scarce, leaving you completely alone with Billy. You didn’t dare look back, you could hear him only a step behind you, and you knew if you turned that you weren’t going to make it to the gala.
You stopped at the sink to fill a jug for the flowers, Billy’s hands appeared on either side of you, gripping the edge of the work surface, boxing you in. While the jug filled, you did your best to ignore him, but the sound of his heavy breathing had your heart fluttering. Once the roses were in the jug, you turned to face him, not expecting to see the hunger in his eyes, like he was barely holding himself together.
“Billy,” you said softly, “we’re going to be late.”
“I know.” He answered, but didn’t move, like he was stuck there, like something was holding him in place and he didn’t dare let go because he didn’t trust what he might do.
Slowly, cautiously, you lifted a hand to his face, gently touching his cheek. His expression softened and he seemed to relax a little. You had no idea what was going through his mind right then, but if his racing thoughts were anything like your own, then you wanted to help soothe him, help calm him down.
“We’ve got all night,” you reminded him.
There was no need to rush; you could savour your night together, take your time. He looked at you, knuckles turning white as his fingers gripped harder, his shoulder ticking upwards. Your thumb softly brushed against his cheek and you smiled at him.
“Okay,” he finally relented with an awkward exhale. A second later, he released his grip on the counter and offered you his hand. You took it without hesitation. “C’mon, Karen and Frank are probably wondering where we are.”
“Wait - why?” You asked as he led you back towards the door, stopping for a moment so you could grab your coat and bag from the back of the sofa.
“They’re in the limo -”
“Limo?”
Billy didn’t answer, he just laughed, keeping hold of your hand as you tried to navigate the stairs from the third floor while wearing Tammy’s shoes.
And, just as he said, there was a limo parked in front of your apartment building, the back door already open with Karen half hanging out. She climbed out to meet you, wearing a red silk gown that made you feel underdressed.
“Oh my god, you look amazing.” She said, moving toward you and pulling you into an unexpected hug. Billy’s hand kept hold of yours, tensing ever so slightly.
“So do you, I mean - wow.”
“Are we going or what?” A voice called from the limo. Frank.
“Told you he hates these things,” Karen laughed as she turned and headed back towards the limo.
A few minutes later you were all in the limo, on your way to the gala. Billy pulled out a bottle of champagne and started filling glasses, but his attention never strayed from you for long.
“So how did Bill manage to convince a girl like you to go out with him?” Frank asked.
“He wore me down with his constant begging,” you answered, nudging Billy with your elbow.
“How did you two meet, anyway?” Karen asked before Billy could jump in and say something clever.
You told them the story, leaving out the awkward kiss, and going to great efforts to paint Billy as a gentleman. As you spoke, you felt his fingers over yours on your lap, like he was trying to silently thank you for not making him look like a creep in front of his friends.
The drive didn’t take long, you barely had time to finish your second glass of champagne, but by the time you arrived you could tell Billy was itching to get out of the limo and away from all the little questions about the two of you. It didn’t occur to you until later why that was; his friends were trying to get to know you as a couple but you and Billy both knew that there was an expiry date on whatever this thing between you was. You’d have your one night, then he’d be left to explain to his friends why it didn’t work out.
Flashing lights by the door caused you to pause, Frank and Karen carried on oblivious, but Billy had his hand in yours and noticed the second you started to falter.
“What’s wrong?” Concern quickly filling his tone.
“It’s stupid, I just - I don’t want my picture taken.” You didn’t want to be some woman on a Google search when the next person looked Billy up. You didn’t want anyone to know you were there; at the gala or in New York.
He looked ready to argue, to tell you it was just a photo, or give you some line about how you looked, but he didn’t. In one look at you, Billy seemed to understand how uncomfortable you were.
“I can get us in a side entrance.”
“That’s not - you should go get your photo taken. It’ll be good for -”
“I’m not here to get my picture in the papers or on some shitty blog, I’m here to spend time with you.” He didn’t waste anymore time on the matter, and neither did you, following after as he took you to a side door and got some of the staff working the event to let you in.
Once you were inside, you dropped your coat off at the coat check and you and Billy found your designated table in the massive, ornate ballroom. Karen and Frank were already there, talking to another man who Billy introduced as Curtis; the one who helped run most of Anvil’s charity work. A few more of their friends turned up - mostly ex-Marines like Frank and Billy - and, soon enough, you were sitting back and watching Billy and his friends. And, again, his hand found yours, lacing his fingers through yours, holding you tight as he continued to laugh with his buddies. No one else seemed to notice and that seemed to suit Billy just fine; he didn’t want to make a spectacle of it, he just wanted to touch you.
Food was served and speeches were made, and eventually people started to move towards the dancefloor, slow dancing along to the music. And it was nice, despite your reservations, you didn’t feel uncomfortable in the slightest and, once you’d started to get familiar with Billy’s friends, you were able to hold whole conversations with them, some involving Billy and some not, but his hand always found yours again.
Eventually Karen managed to drag Frank onto the dancefloor and Billy’s other friends started to disperse. Billy saw someone he recognised across the room, someone that he needed to quickly talk to but, rather than going with him, you decided that you were going to head to the bar and get yourself a drink - something that he grudgingly went along with, if only because he seemed to realise just how overwhelming it was for you to meet all these people who knew him.
Once at the bar, you felt a little better, like you could take in what was going on around you without feeling like you were stuck in the middle of it all. You couldn’t see Billy, but you did manage to catch sight of Frank and Karen on the dancefloor enjoying themselves, and you found yourself wondering if Billy liked to dance.
“You should be careful with William,” a voice at your side sounded over the music, pulling you from your thoughts. It took you a moment to realise that she was talking to you and that by William she meant Billy.
“Sorry?”
“William, he’s dangerous,” she told you, “men with his kind of trauma tend to exhibit emotional dysregulation and can become quite violent.”
“I don’t - who are you?” And just what was she trying to tell you.
“I’m just someone who’s concerned for your safety.” Like that answered anything. She didn’t seem to care what you thought about anything she was saying or the confusion on your face, she just carried on like you’d asked for her opinion on any of it. “His abandonment issues mean that he’s also prone to obsession and paranoia when it comes to those who get close to him.”
“Look, I don’t know what you’re -”
“Have you slept with him yet?”
“That’s none of your -” but, still, she didn’t seem to care about what you had to say.
“His hypersexuality tends to manifest itself in deviant behaviour, so if you plan on sleeping with him tonight -”
“Don’t you have anyone else to bother, Krista?” Karen was suddenly at your side, glaring at the other woman. You weren’t sure you’d ever seen her so annoyed at someone, but if this Krista cared about Karen’s anger, she didn’t let it show.
“I was just offering a friendly warning,” she answered, though her eyes stayed fixed on you.
“The only one who needs a warning here is you, so why don’t you crawl back under your rock and leave Billy alone.”
Your heart stuttered in your chest, confused and concerned, not really sure what was going on. Krista looked ready to say something else but when she noticed Frank was walking towards you, she simply gave a shrug and walked away.
“You alright?” Asked Frank, his attention on Karen while you sank back against the bar, feeling very out of place.
“Fine, just dealing with the psycho-bitch,” she answered him before both of them turned their attention to you.
“Who was she?” You dared to ask, even though you weren’t really sure you wanted to hear the answer. “And why did she say Billy’s dangerous?”
“She’s his ex,” Frank offered.
“And because she’s a fucking psycho who refuses to move on.” Karen added. “She got it in her head that she could fix Billy, she spent months trying to take him apart and put him back together again how she wanted him to be.”
“But why?” You didn’t want to know but you felt like you needed to. If there was any chance that this Krista was right about Billy, you needed to know. Nothing about him had ever seemed dangerous, but you knew from experience that the people who could hurt you the most were usually the ones you least expected.
“She was his shrink,” Frank explained reluctantly, obviously feeling as uncomfortable in all of this as you. “It was a few years before they started dating, he got hurt, and she started getting in his head. And, when they got together she used everything she knew about him to -”
“You shouldn’t worry about it,” Karen interrupted, placing a hand on your arm. “She wanted him to be broken so she could be the one to save him. She’s a psycho with a god-complex.”
A jealous, psycho ex; that was something you could understand better than most and, if anything, she’d made you want to spend this night with Billy even more, because you knew exactly what it was like to have people only see the absolute worst in you. And you definitely knew what it was like to have an ex drag your name through the dirt. Besides, it was just one night. What was the worst that could happen in one night?
“Bill’s like a brother to me,” Frank stated, pulling you from your spiralling thoughts, “but if I thought he was a danger to anyone I never would’ve let him bring you here tonight.” Despite not knowing Frank very well, there was something about the way he spoke, about the way Karen looked at him that told you it was the truth. You nodded, feeling a little better. “Just maybe don’t mention any of this to Bill.”
“Don’t mention what to me?” He appeared over Frank’s shoulder, grinning from ear to ear when his eyes found yours. And, somehow, when he looked at you, you just knew; Billy Russo wasn’t a danger, at least not to you.
“I was just telling Frank that I wanted to dance,” you answered before anyone else had the chance, “he told me I’d have to mind my feet because you’re a terrible dancer.”
“Please, Frankie’s just jealous he doesn’t have moves like mine,” he practically shoved his friend out of the way so he could get to you, offering his hand. “C’mon, I’ll show you how wrong he is.”
The moment your hand was in his, Billy was leading you on to the dancefloor and pulling you close. His arms wrapped around your waist, hands settling on your lower-lower back, perhaps a little lower than was decent, but you didn’t care. Your hands found his shoulders and, before long your head was resting against his chest and every breath you took was him; his warmth, his cologne and the clean smell of his suit. It all felt perfect. For a moment you felt him move and you were almost certain that he smelled your hair, but you didn’t move to look or confirm anything; you didn’t care.
One song finished and another started, then another, and another. And you were content to stay there, in his arms, moving in time with the music.
“How am I doing?” he asked softly and you realised that it was probably the longest you’d ever known him to stay quiet.
“Definitely proving Frank wrong,” you answered.
And, then, silence again.
At some point your hand shifted on his shoulder, moving up towards his neck, your fingers lightly curling the hair at the nape of his neck. His arms pulled a little tighter around you and, for a moment you thought you could feel the outline of his cock against your thigh. You kept dancing, your other hand soon moving to his neck.
After what felt like a lifetime - a wonderful lifetime - you raised your head, wanting to look at him. Or, more precisely, wanting him to look at you. Your knees turned weak as he stared down at you, tongue running across your lips as you tilted your head just a little, and Billy leaned, his lips almost meeting yours.
Then you were moving, your hand gripped tight in his as he led you away from the dancefloor and out of the ballroom. Soon enough, you found yourself in an empty hallway, the music fading to a near-nothingness in the background, leaving you with nothing but the sound of your heart hammering in your chest. Billy looked like a man possessed as he finally turned to you, his hand finding your hip and leading you back against the nearest wall.
“I've been wanting to get you on your own all night, sweetheart,” he muttered softly, sounding barely restrained. “I wanted to let you enjoy the party, but I can't do it anymore. I need to have you all to myself.”
“I wondered why you'd been so quiet,” you smiled at him, your hand finding his cheek.
“You make me feel like I'm losing my damned mind...” his dark eyes fixed on yours, sparking with desperation, “I don't wanna share you with anyone else anymore.”
“You don't have to,” you breathed, sinking closer to him.
The way he looked at you in that moment had your heart pounding. He wanted you. Billy Russo wanted you.
Finally, he kissed you, leaving no space between your bodies. It was a hungry kiss, his tongue laying siege to your mouth as he tried to get his fill of you. Your arms made their way around his waist, pulling him closer, holding him tight. Again, you felt something pressed against your stomach, and this time there was no question about it; Billy was hard. He’d been hard while you were dancing together. (He was hard for you.)
A moan passed between your lips, though there was no telling if it had come from you or Billy. He dominated the kiss, reminding you of the party, how he’d pressed you back against the bathroom door and kissed you just like that. But you needed more, and judging from the way he was pressed against you, so did Billy.
If it was only going to be one night, you needed everything.
You didn’t even think as your hand slipped between your bodies to cup his bulge through the fabric of his pants. The groan that came next was definitely from Billy, and if he had any issues with you groping him in such a public place, he kept them to himself. In fact, his hips soon moved to press himself against your hand while his own hands remained useless at your waist. There was nothing he could do while you were still wearing your long gown and that put you at an advantage, an advantage you wanted to make the most of.
Fingers pulled eagerly at his belt, then the button and, finally, the zipper. And, all the while, he kissed you, not wanting any of it to stop. By the time you had his cock in your hand you’d almost completely forgotten where you were, and nothing but Billy mattered.
His hand covered yours, molding your fingers around his cock, dragging your hand up and down his length, showing you what he wanted. Then he released you, leaving you to run your hand from root to tip, exploring the feel of him and the weight of him in your hand. His cock turned thicker the harder he got, leaving you imagining the way he’d stretch you if he fucked you. (When, you corrected, when he fucked you. Because once you had him in your hand you knew there was no turning back.)
“Fuck, sweetheart,” he groaned, obviously enjoying what you were doing and it just made you want to do more, it made you want to pull every desperate sound you could from him.
Your hand wrung around him, brushing across the crown, thumb tracing the slit until it started to leak with beads of pre-cum. You spread the wetness across his tip before continuing to drag your hand along him, all the while doing what you could to swallow Billy’s eager moans. Your grip tightened, feeling bolder as your hand stroked up and down, loving the way his cock strained in your grasp. More beads of pre-cum formed and every time you felt them against your thumb, you found yourself longing for a taste.
Groaning your name against your lips was all the warning he managed to give you before he started to pulse in your hand, coming undone with a barely restrained grunt, and letting his head fall back. You managed to angle him away from you in time to save your dress, but your hand was soon covered while it continued to pump his shaft, making sure you wrung every ounce of pleasure from him and making a sticky mess of the both of you.
When he was finally done and you were both left panting, you pulled back your hand and looked at it for a second, oddly proud of yourself. You couldn’t resist lifting to your lips, licking his cum from one of your fingers, finally getting a taste of him. Before you got the idea to clean the rest of your hand, Billy’s fingers wrapped around your wrist, urging your hand away from your mouth.
“If you don’t want me to tear that dress off you, you should stop doing that.” Billy warned while his other hand fished a handkerchief from his pocket. You almost wanted to tempt fate and see just what he’d do but you didn’t want to risk getting caught there more than you already had. Billy wiped himself clean, before cleaning your hand and setting his clothes to rights.
“We’re going.” It wasn’t a question or a suggestion, he didn’t even give you time to answer before taking hold of your hand and leading you back towards the party. His grip didn’t loosen as he led you through the crowd and towards the coat claim, slowing only momentarily to call his driver to tell him to pull the car around. You followed after, staying as close to him as you could; you were his for the night and the thought of any distance between you just seemed insane. He let go of your hand only momentarily, to help you slip your coat on and, before you knew it, he was eagerly leading you outside.
Billy waved off the driver as he moved to open the door, leaving Billy to open it and bundle you inside. He wasted no time sliding in beside you and closing the door, finally getting you all alone. Before you could even think about getting comfortable, he pulled you onto his lap, hands pushing the fabric of your dress up your thighs so you could comfortably straddle him and helping you shrug out of your coat.
The limo shuddered to a start and Billy’s arms wrapped around you, holding you tight, secure.
His.
(At least, his for the night.)

Complaints from some progressive Democrats about the much-heralded Respect for Marriage Act are on the rise, as they realize that the legislation often labeled in the press as the "same-sex marriage" bill would not actually require states to recognize same-sex marriages.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., lauded the legislation as a "momentous step forward for greater justice for LGBTQ Americans." But complaints from the far left started surfacing as the Senate passed the bill last week.
Washington Post columnist Jonathan Capehart, who is gay, said in a column that he supports the bill but admitted that the more closely he looks at it, "the more my joy diminishes."
"What the act does not do is require states to issue marriage licenses in contravention of state law," he wrote.
SENATE PASSES SAME-SEX MARRIAGE BILL WITH BIPARTISAN SUPPORT
Charlotte Clymer, former press secretary for the Human Rights Campaign and LGBTQ activist, put it more sharply in a blog post. "I hate the Senate bill and we need it to pass it," she said, adding that "it sucks" and "it's our only real option."
Democrats in Congress whipped up the bill after Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas issued a concurring opinion in the case Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade. There, he said that in light of the decision to let states decide abortion, the court should also "reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents," including the Obergefell v. Hodges case that took same-sex marriage out of the hands of states and said it is a right guaranteed by the Constitution.
RICK SCOTT DEFENDS RELEASING 'RESCUE AMERICA' PLAN AHEAD OF MIDTERMS: 'I DON'T REGRET IT ONE BIT'
No other justices joined Thomas. But that opinion became a major campaign issue for Democrats and spurred lawmakers of both parties to write legislation aimed at requiring states to recognize same-sex marriage, in case the Obergefell precedent fell.
But if the Respect for Marriage Act (RMA) passes, it would not go so far as to require states to permit same-sex marriages, which is what has some progressives disappointed. Instead, it would require the federal government to recognize same-sex marriages performed in states where they are legal.
The act would also require states to recognize same-sex marriages in other states for the purpose of distributing benefits, and wouldn't let them interfere with the federal recognition of those marriages. But otherwise, each state would still be able to define marriage as they see fit, and would not be required to issue licenses or permits for same-sex marriages that take place in their state.
Tim Schultz, president of the 1st Amendment Partnership, told Fox News Digital that the passage of RMA is about "political realism," and that both sides had to cede some ground in order to turn the language into law. Schultz noted that the bill doesn’t go as far as banning states from making gay-marriage illegal, and includes an amendment by Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., aimed at protecting religious liberty.
GOP SENATORS DEMAND ANSWERS OVER SPIKE IN MIGRANT CASES DISMISSED BY COURTS AS DOCS NOT FILED IN TIME
"The interest groups on the left I think are begrudgingly admitting that these religious protections had to be in the bill to pass," Schultz said. "Some of them are saying that’s an affirmative good. Others are saying, ‘Well, I guess this is what you have to do to attract Republicans.’ I’m not saying they feel religious liberty in their soul."
"I think that this is actually a big political deal," Schultz added. "I think that legally the RMA is not a huge deal. And I think that's why people are hyperventilating for no good reason."
"But I think like politically it's a very big deal. Because I think it shows that there is a kind of center that wants to get things done on this issue."
Schultz says the overturning of Obergefell is a "very unlikely scenario."

Pete Buttigieg just got inducted into the LGBTQ+ Political Hall of Fame
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was inducted to the LGBTQ+ Political Hall of Fame on Tuesday at the Democratic National Convention during the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute’s “Victory at the DNC” event.  Buttigieg is the first openly gay Cabinet secretary and was recognized not only for his public service but also for his accomplishments in LGBTQ+ representation in government and advocacy for the queer community. Related Pete Buttigieg dismantles Fox host’s claim about violent crime in just 7 words A Fox News host implied that Democrats don’t care about Black victims of violent crime. Buttigieg pushed back hard. The ceremony took place at the Wit Hotel’s rooftop in Chicago. Subscribe to our Newsletter today At the ceremony, Buttigieg said to the cheering audience, “Thank you so much. Thank you for humbling me with this honor,” according to The Chicago Tribune. He thanked other prominent LGBTQ+ politicians in the audience, saying, “Thank you, [former Chicago Mayor] Lori Lightfoot, for your leadership of Chicago and for welcoming us to this town. Thank you [former Houston Mayor and current CEO and president of the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund] Annise Parker – I don’t even know where to begin – it would take me an hour. Let’s just say that Annise Parker has been a pillar of leadership for the LGBTQ+ community, for the community of mayors, for the American people.” With his induction into the Hall of Fame, he joins the ranks of celebrated LGBTQ+ politicians such as Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California. “Everything that I’ve had a chance to do, not just in politics but in life, is possible because of the committed activism of people like the people in this room and people who came before us,” Buttigieg said. “It wasn’t that long ago you couldn’t be a geographer in the federal government if you were gay. Think about how much has changed in one short lifetime.” Buttigieg reflected on his experience as mayor of South Bend in “Mike Pence’s Indiana” and his current role as a father and husband. “Just so you know what wake-up is like for us, it used to be we woke up to an alarm clock. Now we wake up to a three-year-old… who will disappear downstairs and reemerge exactly one minute later with a tambourine in his hand,” he shared. Buttigieg didn’t just celebrate his own accomplishments or the accomplishments of those who came before him, he also discussed the onslaught of anti-LGBTQ+ laws that are sweeping the nation. “Just because we have gained some ground does not mean we’ll ever get comfortable with the gains that have been made or the work that lies in front of us.” In his own speech at the Democratic National Convention, Buttigieg doubled down on that message, saying, “The existence of my family is just one example of something that was literally impossible as recently as 25 years ago, when an anxious teenager growing up in Indiana, I wondered if he would ever find belonging in this world.” The hard work that it took so that Buttigieg was able to grow up from that anxious teenager to one of the most visible queer politicians with a family of his own is not lost on him. “This kind of life went from impossible to possible, from possible to real, from real to almost ordinary in less than half a lifetime,” he said. “It was brought about through idealism and courage, through organizing and persuasion and storytelling and yes, through politics, the right kind of politics, the kind of politics that can make an impossible dream into an everyday reality.” http://dlvr.it/TCN53q
