#tayliz crack theory

I know it’s been a while since I made a tayliz crack theory post. So, now that the Eras Tour is happening and we are getting footage from it, I have a few thoughts.
First of all, I love that Paramore included “That’s What You Get” in their set. It makes my Tayliz-loving heart happy, even if it’s just a coincidence.
Now, let’s talk about “‘tis the damn season”. I’m no music expert, but I still think the guitar riff sounds a bit like a sped up version of the guitar riff in the song Liz wrote called “Don’t Let It Hurt You” and watching the footage of Taylor performing ttds reminded me of this.
youtube
The dress Taylor wears during ttds is a similar color to Liz’s Mean dresses:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, the Mean music video is also the one with Willow sign on the windmill (not that I necessarily think willow is about Liz, but it could be):
Tumblr media
And, of course, I have to mention that ttds is supposed to be the sister song to dorothea, which includes similar lyrics to Liz’s song Never Know (a song Taylor clearly references in the 1):
“Do you ever stop and think about me”
vs
“And I wonder if you think about me”
“I guess I’ll never know”
vs
“I guess I’ll never know”
(Yes, it the same exact lyric - not even a slight change like she did in the 1)
Yes, both of these are a pretty generic lines and if not for the line in the 1, and Liz making a point to tweet about that song in particular, I probably wouldn’t have even thought about these lyrical connections, but they do seem to be references to Never Know.
Not to mention, that the next line in dorothea is “and you’ll go on with the show”
That line could hold so many meanings. The obvious one being that even with Liz gone, the show will still go on. She was not a necessity to keep the Taylor show going. There’s also the idea that Taylor, the public persona, is all for show and now that Liz is out of the loop, she might now know what’s really going on in Taylor’s actual, private life. She may only get to see what the rest of the world is allowed to see. Of course, with quite a bit more insight than fans/the general public and she might be able to tell which smiles Taylor is faking. And Taylor will continue to only show the world what she wants it to see.
Plus, the whole sentiment of dorothea (especially in the sense that it is meant to be the opposing POV to ttds) reminds me so much of the song Liz wrote called “Not Going Anywhere”:
“It’s never too late
To come back to me side”
(This also reminds me of this lyric in Never Know “you’d come back to me like the tide”)
“And if you’re ever tired of being known for who you know
You know that you’ll always know me”
“And damn, Dorothea
They all wanna be ya
But are you still the same soul
I met under the bleachers”
vs
“When you always have a better place to be
Some upgrade to the company you keep
Does the distance make it hard to see
Old friends like me, not going anywhere?”
“Oh, this world can seem so small for you
Rising up above the clouds”
“If they ever stop this fast train you are on
And you don’t recognize where you get off
You don’t ever have to be lost and alone
Just come back home
I’m not going anywhere”
Taylor also does a little, tiny head bang around the 1:58 mark of the video of her performing ttds. The crack theory part of my brain wants to say it is a nod to “Better Than Revenge”, but the more rational side of my brain reminds me that Taylor has been head banging her whole career (even before Liz joined the band).
So, in conclusion, ttds and dorothea (and of course, the 1) could be about Liz (she did continue live in Nashville for a long time even after she left, or was forced out of, Taylor’s band). But the lyric references don’t necessarily mean they had a relationship or that these songs are about Liz. It could be a coincidence or maybe the songs are actually fictional (I don’t really buy that, though) and she thought it would be a fun little nod to her old friend/former backup singer to reference her song (that just so happens to include a lyric about how Liz catches herself singing the muse’s old song, which I imagine would be easy to do if you had to sing the songs probably hundreds of times between rehearsals and performances).

skssksk i only care about getting cool points from my gaylor besties on the craziest theories i can come up with
the more people have a laugh the more cool points i award myself
i dont know enough about the queen but if i did i sure as hell would create brand new tayliz lore just to score more cool gaylor crack points which is both totally normal to want and possible to achieve lmao
when u said the queen.. i genuinely thought you meant taylor 😭

i havent been on the blog in a while, where do you currently stand on what gaylor ships you believe happened? i know you change your opinion often based on new information and i am curious to know if its different from when i last checked in a few months ago!
i don't think MUCH has changed
taymily - maybe a crush on taylor's part but nothing actually happened (thank god)
tayliz - excellent theory but i don't think it happened but like maybe they made out
houghlor - believe it with my whole heart and asshole
stoneswift - nah but it's fun crack
swiftgron - still believe i do but slightly more skeptical than i used to be which is healthy and normal imo (still believe it the most after houghlor and tily)
kaylor - messy, non monogamous, sexy, hook up that did inspire music and fuck taylor up a bit
tily - believe tho idk how it fits in with joe idc it's the best ship in terms of taylor seeded evidence (just ahead of swiftgron imo)
i don't think much of that is different than it has been like... in the last year?

Will you post again soon?
I haven’t had a chance to watch all of the footage from the first couple shows, but I did have some thoughts about some of it (including a Tayliz crack theory). I’ll make a post soon about it (possibly later tonight)
I’ll try to post more regularly again. I just had to step away for a while for multiple reasons (life things and just some gaylor stuff that I wasn’t feeling like putting out there).

I feel like 18 year old Taylor would be so hype about this, and probably present day Taylor tbf:
Tumblr media
This reminds me that I haven’t gotten around to finishing my updated version of Patty Griffin influences in Taylor’s music. It’s already months beyond what I said it would be, but I promise it will happen… eventually.
This also reminds me that I really want a Patty feature on Speak Now TV. There was likely a lot of listening to Patty Griffin happening when she wrote Red (let us not forget that Patty had an album called Flaming Red). The Patty influence on Red is so incredibly obvious and we know Liz was listening to her music on the Speak Now tour since she tweeted that she was doing so while also working on her own music (this was also a week after the Swiftgron Fairfax Flea Market meetup, but also a couple months after she and Jason broke up, tbf):
Tumblr media
And now my skepticism says the similarities between Taylor’s and Liz’s lyrics could simply be down to Patty. But that leaves out the visual similarities… STFU&HM lyric video with the 1989 aesthetic (Polaroids with lyrics on them and neon signs) and the mv being so similar to the IKYWT mv and Taylor wears that shirt in the IKYWT…
And there is the key necklace from Red TV that I just saw the other day:
Tumblr media
Someone tell me, is this really real?? Was Taylor actually selling this as official Red TV merch??
Taylor gets the key necklace from the IKYWT love interest and wears it throughout the video:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The love interest in the STFU&HM mv wears a key necklace throughout the video:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I’ve always wondered if this was a miniature key necklace Liz wears, but it’s hard to tell:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, the only explanation for all the connections between the IKYWT mv and Liz/the STFU&HM mv is that either TayLiz happened in some way OR they dated the same dude and he wore a key necklace (except in IKYWT the love interest is a bit “wild” and in STFU&HM the love interest is a little more clean cut and Liz is the “wild” one). That’s it. There is no other explanation that I can come up with other than pure coincidence, but since this post started with Patty Griffin, let me remind everyone that “Nobody’s Crying” is Liz’s favorite Patty song and these are lyrics from that song:
“It says that love is long gone
Every move I make is all wrong
Says you never gave a damn for me
For anything, for anyone”
Vs.
“And he’s long gone when he’s next to me
And I realize the blame is on me”
AND
“And the saddest fear comes creeping in
That you never loved me or her or anyone or anything”
Did I really prove anything other than both of them being Patty Griffin fans? Probably not, BUT I still think there is enough “evidence” for me to believe these songs could have been written about each other…

I don’t want to clown, but then…
Tumblr media
"Take It With Me"
Phone's off the hook
No one knows where we are
It's a long time since I
Drank champagne
The ocean is blue
As blue as your eyes
I'm gonna take it with me
When I go
Old long since gone
Now way back when
We lived in Coney Island
Ain't no good thing
Ever dies
I'm gonna take it with me
When I go
Far far away a train
Whistle blows
Wherever you're goin
Wherever you've been
Waving good bye at the end
Of the day
You're up and you're over
And you're far away
Always for you, and
Forever yours
It felt just like the old days
We fell asleep on Beaula's porch
I'm gonna take it with me
When I go
All broken down by
The side of the road
I was never more alive or
Alone
I've worn the faces off
All the cards
I'm gonna take it with me
When I go
Children are playing
At the end of the day
Strangers are singing
On our lawn
It's got to be more
Than flesh and bone
All that you've loved
Is all you own
In a land there's a town
And in that town there's
A house
And in that house
There's a woman
And in that woman
There's a heart I love
I'm gonna take it
With me when I go
I'm gonna take it
With me when I go
No… nope… I don’t want to clown, but… trains, champagne, ocean blue eyes, Coney Island, Forever & Always, flesh and bone (aka skin and bone)… “in that woman there’s a heart I love”…

Now she put it in the comments.
Peeps, help! I’m still confused af. Is this a joke about her actually being bi or a joke about people who think she is because she is straight?

Okay, I’ve been mia dealing with some irl stuff, but I was just scrolling through ig, delaying getting up and getting ready, and saw this and need someone to tell me what they think it means.
So, there is this lesbian singer-songwriter who Liz has written with before and apparently Liz performed with her and one of their friends last night.
I saw that Liz posted this:
Tumblr media
And I went to look at Garrison’s ig page and saw that she had posted this:
Tumblr media
So, Garrison said “you’re not bisexual” (not a question… very much a statement) and Liz responded “it hurts to be misunderstood”.
First off, I assume this is some kind of inside joke between the two. But is the joke that Liz really is bisexual and she is joking that “it hurts to be misunderstood” (as straight or gay?) by Garrison? Or is the joke that Liz is not bisexual, but people think she is, so “it hurts to be misunderstood”?
It could go either way, I guess.
Also, their friend, who is married to the friend they performed with last night, commented “I love all of this 🔥🔥🔥” on Garrison’s post.
What does it all mean??

When I made that joke post a month ago about Taylor saying this in the June 2008 issue of Seventeen :
Tumblr media
Then pointed out this line in STFU&HM:

I had no idea that Liz actually did specify what type of sour candy she was singing about:

Just another Tayliz coincidence...

Does this mean that “Dammit”, which was released in 2018, was actually written in 2012:
Tumblr media
youtube
"Dammit" I was drivin' to town and I passed by a house The one with pillars on the porch Had a sign on the door, said "For Sale" So, what the hell I walked in and sat down on some strangers couch Solid oak hardwood floors Didn't need to see more 'Cause I could hear you in the kitchen Playin' your guitar All our friends coming over Little lights in the yard And dammit Didn't we almost have it? Honestly, I still don't understand it We used to love to sit and talk and wish And picture and plan it Man, now I just... dammit I think the owners could tell I was lost in myself So, they left me alone Said "Make yourself right at home" I was already makin' dinner Callin' you down the stairs Little girl out the window Hear her laughin' out there Dammit Didn't we almost have it? Honestly, I still don't understand it We used to love to sit and talk and wish And picture and plan it Man now, I just... dammit Baby, didn't we almost have it? Honestly, I still don't understand it We used to love to sit, talk and wish And picture and plan it Man, now I just... dammit Now I'm drivin' away Thinking "Oh, what a shame" You can pray, you can hope But you just never know I guess that two bedroom picket fence magic Can't ever be ours now, can it? (Dammit) Ooh Honestly, I still don't understand it Thinking how could we, coulda had it We coulda had it Dammit
If so, this song is not about her ex-fiancé… it could be about her ex-bf, tho… but what if?? I’ve had a major, completely wild, borderline fanfiction, crack theory about this song and the mvs for EHC and “Lover” that, even if the song was written in 2012, still seems too crazy for me to even mention…
It’s also possible that she had a different song back then with the same/a similar title. Still, if that song is from 2012 that really does make it more interesting. Especially, since that tweet was posted almost a month after Red was released. But maybe she wrote that song a while before that and it is about her ex-bf... that is absolutely possible.
Liz did do that interview about a week after the rep tour show she attended, where she used gender neutral pronouns while talking about the song (this interview was for the same outlet where in another video from that day she mentioned that “Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt” was the last album she listened to in full and my last post was about Liz tweeting about listening to a song from that album a week and a half after Red was released):
“‘Dammit’, actually, was a story that I lived out. Like, I was with somebody I was, you know, getting very serious. We were talking about starting a life together and we even had this house, like, picked out in the city where we lived and we would drive by it and be like ‘one day when we buy that house’. And, so, when we broke up, the pain of, like, saying goodbye was really, you know, really intense, but it was also mourning the loss of the hypothetical future. So, it was like saying goodbye to the past memories and stuff, sort of what we almost had and that’s where that song came from. So, honestly, I didn’t write it for anyone else, but myself, truly. But, um, it’s beautiful that music has such a way of resonating with someone who might not even know and they connect with it so much that another artist would want to sing it. It’s such a high compliment.”
Here is a short clip of Liz singing the song a few months after that interview:
youtube
Again, I think it could have been about her ex-bf or maybe was repurposed for her ex-fiancé... but if it was written around the time Red was released, then maybe there is a tiny chance that it could be about Taylor, but I’m just trying not to go completely delulu over here...

To add even more to the red and blue theme as it might relate to Tayliz...
Liz said she was listening to Augustana’s “Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt” album about a week after attending that rep tour show. This is the opening track of that album:
undefined
youtube
"Hey Now"
Sky black and blue Blue turned to red There's quiet in the streets now But it's screaming in your head I ain't a fool I've got my doubts Say it doesn't hurt It doesn't matter anyhow, anyhow... Hey we're just bleeding for nothing It's hard to breathe when you're standing on your own We'll kill ourselves to find freedom You'll kill yourself to find anything at all So lock all the doors And put your child to rest There's fire in the streets now But it's quiet in your head We're passing the time By breaking apart We're damned at the end And we're damned at the start Blame it on the roses Blame it on the red We're running out of time And we’re running out of breath Hey now, we're bleeding for nothing It's hard to breathe when you're standing on your own We'll kill ourselves to find freedom You'll kill yourself to find anything You say goodbye Every day and night With writing on the walls Everybody's gonna need somebody To take our troubles, and our worries, and our problems all away 'Cause, hey, we’re just bleeding for nothing It's hard to breathe when you're standing on your own We'll kill ourselves to find freedom You'll kill yourself to find anything at all Hey now, we’re bleeding for nothing It's hard to breathe when you're standing on your own We'll kill ourselves to find freedom You'll kill yourself to find anything at all Hey now, hey now, hey now Right now...
Another song on this album (”Sweet and Low”) was Taylor’s ringtone in July 2008 (which was not long after Liz moved to Nashville):
Tumblr media
undefined
youtube
"Sweet And Low"
Anywhere you go, anyone you meet, Remember that your eyes can be your enemies, I said, hell is so close and heaven's out of reach But I ain't giving up quite yet, I've got too much to lose Hold me down, sweet and low, little girl Hold me down, sweet and low, and I will carry you home Hold me down, sweet and low, little girl Hold me down and I'll carry you home The rain is gonna fall, the sun is gonna shine, The wind is gonna blow, the water's gonna rise She said, when that day comes, look into my eyes No one's giving up quite yet, We've got too much to lose
... And I'll carry you all the way, When you say you're fine But you're still young, and out of line When all I need's to turn around, To make it last, to make it count I ain't gonna make the same mistakes That put my mama in her grave I don't wanna be alone
In June 2011, the same journalist did this writeup about Taylor’s Teen Vogue article:
Tumblr media
“Getaway Car”, tho... “We never had a shotgun shot in the dark”...
undefined
youtube
"Shot In The Dark"
I had a vision for the life that was ahead of me I had a reason, had a ride and had a destiny I thought I knew where I was heading I would never look back I had it all and then I went and let it slip away I'm working overtime I'm gonna make it anyway Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you never get her back Oh, you know that I'm Rising up slowly and getting higher I've been living with a hole in my heart Weighing down on me, but I'm a fighter I know I still got a shot in the dark Baby, we still got a shot in the dark Sometimes in life you meet the people that you think you trust Wake up one day and find that everything had turned to dust I always knew that you'd be waiting for me when I got back Waiting when I came Rising up slowly and getting higher I've been living with a hole in my heart Weighing down on me, but I'm a fighter I know I still got a shot in the dark Baby, we still got a shot in the dark I'm gonna find a way I'm gonna find a way, yeah I'm gonna find a way I got a vision for the life that’s right in front of me I got a ride, I got a reason, got a destiny I know exactly where I'm headed and I'm never looking back Well, nothing's holding me back Well, nothing's holding me back Rising up slowly and getting higher I've been living with a hole in my heart Weighing down on me, man, but I'm a fighter I know I still got a shot in the dark Rising up slowly and I'm getting higher I've been living with a hole in my heart Weighing down on me, baby I'm a fighter I know I still got a shot in the dark Baby, we still got a shot in the dark And I know that I still got a shot
Liz put these 2 Augustana songs on her “H8U, love these...” playlist:

youtube
"I Still Ain't Over You"
Out of luck and out of tune Half a day and night confused Love may wash away the blues But I still ain't over you Damn the day that I forgot Came so close and almost lost It's been one year and fourteen months But I still ain't over you Hey, I'm the blood in your veins I'm the cold when it rains I'm your heart when it breaks Time, no it ain't on our side I'm the truth to your lie I'm your tear when you cry Back and forth and side to side Right ain't wrong if wrong ain't right Well I will love you day and night 'Cause I still ain't over you Hey, I'm the blood in your veins I'm the cold when it rains I'm your heart when it breaks Time, no it ain't on our side I'm the truth to your lie I'm your tear when you cry When the walls come crashing in When the flames come closer then Just remember time and again I still ain't over you

youtube
"Remember Me" Will you hear me blowing in the wind? Will it give you shivers down your skin? Will you stop and stare, wonder if I'm there? Will you think about me now and then? Will you hear me when the stairs creak? I always sang you what I couldn't speak Will my voice carry on when your angels gone? And will you still remember me?
Remember me, please remember me May your heart be strong May your fears be weak And remember me, please remember me May our love live on for eternity Will you keep my jackets in the drawer? And keep the kitchen how it was before? Will you look to the sky in a cold dark time And wish we had a little more? Will you laugh about those little things That used to piss you off and make you scream? Will you stay up late reading books you hate Tryin' not to fall asleep, so you can...
Remember me, please remember me May your heart be strong May your fears be weak And remember me, please remember me May our love live on for eternity
Will you keep those notes I used to write? Will you hang em on the fridge at night? Will you miss my smile every once in a while? Will you think I was worth your time? Will you find me somewhere in your dreams? When you're swimming up against the stream When the days get long, and you can't go on Sweetheart just remember me Remember me, please remember me May your heart be strong May your fears be weak And remember me, please remember me May our love live on for eternity May our love live on like a child's dream...
Liz has an unreleased song she cowrote with Augustana’s lead singer/songwriter (he also cowrote quite a few unreleased Harry S. songs as well):
Tumblr media
It may not mean anything, but the amount of songs/artists both of them have referenced in some way is insane. It’s possible that they aren’t connected, but between this and the Joni Mitchell, Patty Griffin, Tom Petty, Ryan Adams, etc. connections, it’s the strangest set of coincidences.
I also feel compelled to mention that there is a song called “Twenty Years” on that “Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt” album... again, maybe it’s just another coincidence.

"Meet You There"
Climb up on a mountain, just to watch it come down But sooner or later babe, you're gonna need me around 'Cause you're getting older, there ain't no stopping that It's a backstabbing world honey, just lean your head back [Chorus:] The fool in me It's like a dream, you see But if the world is right I'll drive all night And meet you there someday Six in the morning, never felt so sweet Just put on Lucinda baby, and dance with me I know I'm hard to count on Forget half what I'm told You probably only know my voice from A goddamn microphone [Chorus] It's a fucking waste A teenage taste of me But if Daddy cries You say goodnight And I'll come If I could change I'd keep away the rain The sun would shine every night And I'll come meet you there someday... [Chorus] Meet you there someday Meet you there someday Meet you there someday
Not necessarily saying that she relates this song/album to Taylor, but this was a week and a half after Red was released. It’s just interesting that she was also listening to the album a little over a week after going to that rep tour show... it’s probably just a coincidence.
