Cupid

I gave a second chance to Cupid
But now, I'm left here feeling stupid
Oh, the way he makes me feel
That love is not real
Cupid is so dumb
- Cupid by Fifty Fifty
Tags: Fem!Reader, Fluff, Gojo Satoru playing Wingman for Reader, curses and techniques doesn't exist, slice of life, yearning?, Gojo is a brat and asshole, Reader is hopeless romantic, reader is named You, Unedited
N/a: Just thought of this one shot while I was listening to this song, and went "Hmmm...let me add the reason why the Cupid is a dumb b-tch with Gojo's yearning in this shit."
------------------------
PLAYER 1 WINS
The bright red text flashed brightly on the tv as the fighter posed victoriously.
Strange. The lack of competitive yet toxic spirit in You raised concerns from Gojo.
"Something the matter?" Gojo put down his controller beside him. "You're not normally this quiet."
"Satoru," You glanced at him. "Do you hate me?"
No, and if he did, he would rather be dead than live the rest of his life hating her.
"Perhaps, to tease you." Gojo smirked. "But, for your sanity sake, I will say no."
"Then why are you setting me up with shitty dates from the start?!"
You ran her fingers through her hair, frustrated.
"The latest is by far the worst I've gone through! How did you get the idea that I'll enjoy dating a man who's not only a pest, but also has views that are so outdated? He straight up told me that a woman should walk three steps behind him while we're just walking in the park!"
Honestly? It's a genuine mistake on Gojo's part. Desperation times called for desperate measures. However, the failure of You's past dates were part of his intricate plan. His best friends, Suguru and Shoko, called his plan dumb and manipulative, but haters gonna hate. Cringed as it sounded.
The plan that he was so proud of? That he had to play the inverse role of Cupid?
Simple. To make You fall for him.
At first, he mistaken those budding feelings of his similar to familial, given they were close since kindergarten. Yet, he knew it slowly bloomed when You's absence grew his heart fonder as they attended different universities, and found himself looking forward to her said visits. He missed everything about her down to the sound of his name from her voice.
Growing up robbed the only constant in his life – You.
Throughout the years, his friend became a thorough hopeless romantic thanks to the fairy tales she read. She wasn't particularly this aggressive to find love until now. If he were to warrant a guess, perhaps due to peer pressure. Despite the horrendous dates he sent her through, she still held onto the hope of finding her one true love. As the supportive friend and future husband to be, he volunteered to be her matchmaker.
Once she's somewhat defeated by the woes of finding love, he would swoop in and have her fall for him instantly. That's what happened to his parents. Both gave up on dating before they met each other. It worked since they still maintained the blissful matrimony.
"Sorry about that one," Gojo scratched his head. "I just overheard him saying that he needs to go out more."
"I kicked his shin before leaving. So, we're good." You said nonchalantly. "At this rate, I'm going to just ask Suguru. He's a gentleman, don't you think?"
"What makes you think he'll go out with you?" Alarmed, Gojo asked too quickly for his taste.
"Shoko told me once while I was drinking with her." She answered. "Apparently, Suguru is interested in dating me, but he doesn't want to risk his friendship with you or something like that."
That damn alcoholic. He thought Shoko's tolerance to alcohol was higher than Nanami's. How much did You drink to out drink Shoko to the point of loosening her lips?
"No" Gojo crossed his arms. "And, he's busy with his thesis right now."
"How quick of you to shot me down, unless..."
You snapped her fingers.
"Do you like him? I'm not surprised given the ongoing bromance since high school between-"
"I love you, not him." Gojo blurted, interrupting his friend.
You's grip on Gojo's spare controller loosened until it dropped on her lap. Her eyes widened in surprise and mouth gaped open. Confused, Gojo stared at the sudden reaction of his friend. Realization struck him hard like a bullet train upon hearing her next words.
"You love me?" She slowly repeated his words.
WHAT
THE
FUCK
There goes his plans. It went up to flames because of his dumb mistake. At this point, any fucks he had were thrown all out of the window. Gojo confessed everything about his plan to her while Guilt gnawing on his conscience. Because of the said emotion, Fear and Shame joined together and formed intrusive thoughts in his head.
What if she didn't want to be friends with him anymore? What if she started hating him?
"I...don't know what to make of this..." You released a deep breath. "I...don't even know where to start. What happens to us now then?"
He didn't know. Was that the answer he truly wanted to say to You? Doubt and distress didn’t suit a woman like her. So, he would dispel it with a question of his own, and it's up to her in the end. Whether they remained friends or not, he respected her decision.
Gojo took her hand with great care. It was a relief to him that she didn't pull away or flinch from his touch. Gently, his thumb caressed the back of her hand to soothe his nerves. A gesture she always did whenever he needed it.
"I know it's selfish of me to ask this, and I'll accept whatever your answer is but," Gojo frowned, his blue eyes full of sincerity and certainty. "Will you please give this stupid cupid of yours a chance? To give you the love you deserved?

Hey jelly! How about a college!au with football captain Levi 🥵 up to you how the story goes hehe
Helloooooo. I'll give it a go. Sorry, I'm from the UK so, I'm guessing by college you mean University here and by football you mean American football? Sorry if I'm wrong! Happy to do this :D
I only want you watching me.
Pairing: Levi x Reader.
Genre and tags: Romance, falling in love, Levi has a crush on you, American football, cute Levi, flustered Levi, awkward Levi, confessions.
Concept: Levi is the football captain who everyone looks up to and is the centre of affection and attention, but he doesn't care for those around him. However, one girl does have his heart, you. Levi has had the biggest crush on you for a long time and has loved you from a distance, but never had the guts to ask you out. The two of you do talk now and then, he also has classes with you and makes sure he sits near you. Levi eventually builds up the courage to be more romantic with you and asks you to go to his game, an after-party and eventually on a date. He protects you and cares for you, because you are seen as the sweet alternative girl at school.
"Fuck me, man, just look at those cheerleaders."
Levi slammed his locker shut and rolled his eyes at his team eyeing up the cheerleaders. "Tch, oi shitheads? They're women and human beings, so stop treating them as objects." He turned to his team. "If I hear or catch any of you being disrespectful to women, I'll break your fucking bones."
One held his hands up. "Sorry captain."
He sighed. "If you hear any guys around campus treating women like shit, you set them straight, got it?"
They all answered. "YES, CAPTAIN!"
Levi hummed, then looked down the hall to see you walking towards him chatting to your friend Hange. Levi gulped hard and begged you in his head for you to notice him. He blushed when you smiled, then glanced at Levi. He watched you walk past and got a whiff of your perfume. "I'll see you lot at practice." Levi jogged down the hall after you and called your name. He slowed down and sighed. "Hi."
You smiled at Levi. "Hi."
He cleared his throat. "What uh...what are you doing?"
You hummed. "Walking down the hall."
Levi blushed. "Yeah, of course, you are." He frowned a little. "Tch, shit ah...do you...do..."
Hange smirked when it clicked in her head. She knew Levi was in love with you and she knew you had a cute crush on him. "You know what? I just remembered I have an experiment to do. Levi? Could you take my sweet friend here to lunch? Cool, thanks!"
You watched her run off. "Hange!?" You sighed as a blush burned your cheeks. "Lunch, huh?" You gulped hard. "You umm, you coming?"
Levi nodded. "Y-Yes. C-Can we go off-campus? I umm, I know a good teashop."
You hummed a little laugh making Levi's heart flutter. "I never thought that the captain of the football team would be into tea."
"I love the stuff. Do you?"
You nodded and started walking with him. "I do. I find tea claiming."
Levi gripped his bag. "I find you calming."
You frowned a little. "What was that?"
He blushed bright red when he realised he'd let his feelings slip. "I was agreeing with you. S-So, how are your studies?"
"Good. I'm a little stressed, but I'm trying to do things to relax me and make me happy." You nibbled your lip. "You?"
"Ah, good." He frowned. "I have to keep my grades high, or I lose my spot on the team."
You hummed a laugh. "Well, you are top of the class. You know, you drive Hange fucking crazy sometimes. You get better grades than her." You laughed when you remembered Hange's dumbstruck face. "Poor thing. It just makes me more impressed with you."
He opened the teashop door and let you go in first, then he pulled your chair out for you and ordered everything. "I'll pay." He cleared his throat. "Anyway, you're impressed with me?"
"Who wouldn't be?" You sighed. "And I want to pay half."
"No deal. I'm paying."
You groaned. "Fine, but know I am unhappy."
"Noted." He fiddled with his hands. "So, do you need help with your studies?"
You raised a brow. "Not really, but it would be nice to have a study buddy. Why, do you know someone?"
Levi blushed hard and pushed himself internally. "Me?"
You stared at Levi and saw how hopeful he was. "You know what? Sure."
"Great!" He winced at how overly excited he sounded. "Sorry, I umm. I could come to your place?"
You nodded. "Yeah. I share a home with Hange and some others. We're the rejects who didn't want to be part of some weird sorority. It's like a damn mini cult. You're not part of a frat, are you?"
He shook his head. "No. I can't stand them. I share a house with Erwin, Mike and two other guys."
You smiled a little. "It's nicer that way, right?"
"It is." Levi frowned when you huffed. "What's wrong?"
You waited for the tea and food to be put down before you talked. "You shouldn't be seen with me."
"What do you mean?"
You shrugged. "Well, you're the Captain of the fucking football team and I'm just so weirdo nobody."
He frowned a little and felt a bit hurt. "Well, I don't give a shit what others think. Who I hang out with or like is no one's fucking business but my own and the person I'm with."
You smiled a little at him. "That's really sweet of you."
"Well, I uhh...I...you..."
You hummed. "Damn, this is nice tea. You picked a great place." You blushed. "Oh, sorry I interrupted."
Levi smiled a little. "No, you saved me. I don't have my thoughts together. Give me some more time, yeah?"
You laughed. "Sure. Honestly, I know how you feel. I suck with words as well."
"Do...do you ever come to the games?"
You shook your head. "No, I've never been interested and the whole cult aspect of it just puts me off. Sorry, I'm kind of shitting on your thing."
"No, you're right about it." He gulped hard. "I was going to ask if you would come to the game at the end of this week. I would...I would love your support."
You nibbled your lip. "I'll think about it."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Levi looked for you everywhere before the match and when it started, but you weren't there watching him. He felt sad because he wanted you and only you to be his cheerleader. He liked you a lot, but part of him understood why you hadn't because it wasn't your thing and there was an astmosphere around the game as well with who could be with the football players.
Levi looked again at half-time and finally saw you arriving. He smiled as you slipped into the row and said sorry. He waited for you to sit and then look at him. Levi waved at you, but you looked behind you as if you thought he was waving to someone else.
Levi pointed at you when you looked back.
You pointed at yourself.
Levi nodded, then waved.
You blushed and laughed a little, then waved back. You patted your palm against the side of your head to say you were stupid.
Levi shook his head at you to disagree.
You smiled at him sweetly, then gave him the thumbs up and mouthed good luck.
Levi bowed to you, then mouthed thank you.
You sighed and watched the game and new the basics. You'd researched beforehand so you knew what was going all. What you could gather was Levi was kicking ass and his team were winning. You were so impressed with Levi and how well he led the team. You were a little shocked at how big Erwin was muscle wise and how tall Mike was. You just thought they were cool, but Levi really had your heart fluttering.
You stood up at the end of the match and clapped. Levi's team had won by a landslide. People in the crowd said they seemed to have gotten massive inspritation in the second half. You blushed and thought maybe you being there gave Levi a little boost.
You waited for most people to leave, then you walked down and went to leave but heard Levi shout your name. You turned and smiled at him in his game things with his helmet off. "Hi."
Levi smiled a little at you. "Hi."
You hummed, then playfully punched him in the chest. "You rocked out there."
"Thanks."
You blushed a little. "I'll be honest, I didn't know much of what was going on, but I was impressed."
Levi stepped closer. "Thank you."
You hummed a bit. "Are you okay? I mean, you guys take a beating out there. I know you're all padded up, but still."
"I'm perfectly fine."
"Good."
He blushed. "You were worried about me?"
You nodded and felt nervous and flustered as your feelings creeped up. "Yes. Anyway, I should head home now."
He grabbed your hand and stopped you. "So, there's an party we're all going to in order to celebrate. Do you want to come with me?"
You smiled at him. "That's sweet of you to invite me, but I'll decline." You looked over at the jocks and the frats. "They're not really my people."
Levi looked over at the madness of the guys, as well as the girl. "Tch, yeah they're a bunch of idiots."
"Have fun though." You backed up. "Sorry I was late, but I had fun."
Levi chased you. "W-Wait."
You stopped and turned to him. "Yeah?"
"So, ah...how about I walk you home?"
You stared at Levi, then hummed. "Do you like hotdogs?"
Levi frowned a little. "Hotdogs?"
You nodded. "I know a great diner that has these hotdogs of different kinds, like chili dogs, new york dogs, you know?"
Levi smiled a little. "I do. I'll change up and join you. You okay to wait here?"
You nodded. "Yeah."
"Okay." He ran to the changing room and felt so excited. He cleaned up, then ran past the party group and ignored their pleas. He smiled when he saw you sat on the bleachers waiting for him. "Perfect."
"Levi?" The head cheerleader walked closer. "You coming to the party or what?"
"I'm not. Enjoy."
She grabbed his upper arm. "Just one drink."
Levi pulled free. "Nah, I have plans." He ran over to you and smiled. "I'm ready."
You stood up and smiled back. "Great." You looked back at the cheerleader giving you evils. "If you've got something to say, then say it."
She flicked her hair. "You're a charity case."
"That so? Well, at least I get him for the night and you go to a party all alone. Ya fucking loser."
She gasped. "Bitch!"
"Bite me!"
"I'll ruin you."
You hugged Levi's arms. "No! Levi will tonight!"
Levi blushed hard. "Wh-what?"
You smiled at him. "It's a joke."
He sighed and nodded. "Right." He looked to the cheerleader. "Fuck off. I'm having fun." He walked with you off-campus and noticed you were cold. He pulled off his jacket, then put it on your shoulders. "Here."
You hugged it around you and smiled. "Thanks. It's a bit big, but it's warm."
"I'm glad." He frowned a little. "You know, I'm really sorry about all that and the shit you get. You don't deserve it. You're wonderful and I like you."
You bumped against him. "I like you too."
Levi held back a smile, but he was so happy that you cared about him. You both went to the diner and ate together. You spent all night laughing and talking about different stories about your lives. You kept going until the sun started to rise letting you both know you'd talked all night. You ate breakfast together, then walked with Levi back to you place.
You stopped outside, then turned to Levi. "You know, I really like you Levi."
Levi smiled a little. "I love you too." He went white. "Shit."
You stared at him, then you kissed him lightly. You searched his eyes for a moment, then you both wrapped your arms around each other and kissed over and over. Your tongues moved together in heated mouths. Legs grew weak from passion and love. The world slowed down to a stop.
You pulled back a little and panted. "That was better than I'd been thinking it'd be."
"You've been thinking about kissing me?"
"Yes."
Levi smiled a little. "Me too. I've had the biggest crush on your for a long time."
You nibbled your lip as you felt you needed to be honest. "Me too, but I was so worried about status at school. However, now I know you love me for me and will stay by my side no matter what people say. I love you Levi, I really do."
Levi picked up up, then spun around with you. "Best day of my life."
You giggled, then looked to your house. "So...do you want to come in?" You blushed. "Not for what you're thinking. It's just, you must be exhuasted from the match and we've been up all night. I was wondering if you wanted to nap together?"
Levi stared at you, then carried you into your house and to your room as quietly as possible so he wouldn't wake your roommates, mainly Hange. He locked your door, then lay you on your bed. He lay next to you, then lightly touched your cheek as you both smiled at each other. He kissed you, then dragged you into his arms and held you against his chest. He closed his eyes and slowly drifted off into a deep sleep. Both of you knew that you were in the best love and relatioship of your lives. You both had the person you wanted to grow old with.

House Isekai: A Realm Reborn - Part 2, Through the Maelstrom (2 of 3)
House Isekai ARR Masterlist Here
Tumblr media
Client: Hilda Valentin Goneril
Refusing to work with the newly reformed House Isekai due to Class VII, Duvalie takes her orders and storms off to Goneril territory, trying to get home faster. Not wanting to leave Duvalie completely alone, Raelyn and Fireteam Alpha-Nine accompany her.
Reports indicate of a giant serpent-like beast terrorizing the ocean trade routes near Goneril territory, and an unknown entity accompanying it…
(Raelyn) “I will accompany her to ensure their survival. Until then, House Isekai.”
Raelyn turned to the portal and walked through it.
After getting the minimum knowledge required about the Abyss Mages, Buck and his squad followed her through the portal.
(Kazuma) “…Wait a second, none of them knows anything about Fodlan. Why did we let them go anywhere alone?”
(Sitri) “…That’s a good question.”
When Duvalie stepped through the portal, she was still muttering to herself angrily.
(Duvalie) "Ugh, the nerve of those people! As if we can work hand in hand like nothing's ever happened!"
Her ranting continued, even when Raelyn stepped in behind her, looking around his environment.
(Raelyn) "...Duvalie, was it?"
(Duvalie) "And that jackass, Rean! What on EARTH ever made him think we were friends?! I ought to-"
Raelyn sighed and holstered his bolter. Even his footsteps didn't alert her.
(Raelyn) "Cease your complaints."
Duvalie spun around and opened her mouth about to continue until she realized she was only up to his lower chest. Her head tilted all the way up for her to even see Raelyn's helmet.
(Duvalie) "Listen you giant yellow tin can, you don't know what they're like!"
(Raelyn) "They seem calmer than you."
(Duvalie) "Tch, whatever. Why are you even here anyway? I can handle this on my own!"
(Raelyn) "Ah, then I assume you know the layout of the land? The person we're supposed to meet? What the state of the world even is?"
(Duvalie) "...I-I...I can just figure it out myself!"
(Raelyn) "Indeed."
Raelyn turned to the portal and saw the ODST squad walk in.
(Buck) "Right, we got the information we need. As for lay of the land, think one of the locals is about to tag along."
Aigis and Kazuma were on the other side nodding about to say something before the portal suddenly closed.
(Mickey) "...Or not."
...
Everyone was confused on why the portal closed.
Sitri made sure no one was looking at her as she whispered.
(Sitri) "Sothis?"
(Sothis) "Uh, don't look at me. I wasn't even the one who opened it."
(Sitri) "Wait, then where did...?"
...
(Romeo) "Great. Now we gotta wander around and pray to god it's the right way."
(Dutch) "Not even sure the good lord would poke his head out in wherever this is."
(Duvalie) "Wha-DID THEY CLOSE THE PORTAL ON US?!"
(Raelyn) "You were the one who wanted to do this alone."
(Duvalie) "IF I WANT YOUR INPUT, I'LL ASK!"
(Buck) "Enough of the shouting already! Complaining isn't going to do us any good. Besides, we got the data we need, we'll be fine...probably."
(Duvalie) "Fine, whatever."
Duvalie had her hand on the sword sheathe as she stormed off.
(Duvalie) "Let's get going then."
(Mickey) "Wrong way. It's behind us."
Duvalie quickly marched towards the direction Mickey pointed to, muttering something.
Raelyn slowly walked up to the squad.
(Raelyn) "I cannot speak for her, but it is a pleasure to fight alongside you."
(Buck) "Feeling's mutual. Come on, we should hurry before she pops a vein."
The five walked casually behind Duvalie who stayed in the front.
Fodlan, Goneril Territory, Evening...
[Stilness of Night - Trails of Cold Steel 3 OST]
The group eventually found a path leading towards a town inside Goneril territory, and continued on it until the sun began setting.
(Buck) "Huh. Place doesn't look half bad with a sunset."
(Dutch) "Yeah, somethin' you'd see from a storybook."
(Raelyn) "I have not had the pleasure of experiencing a world as quiet as this before."
(Duvalie) "Hm. My world was something kind of like this, but not as primitive to not have lamp posts at least."
(Romeo) "Think you're the most primitive out of all of us here, lady."
(Duvalie) "Excuse me?!"
(Mickey) "Changing the subject, just how far is this place?"
(Buck) "Shouldn't be more than a few minutes. The town according to that Sitri lady is about to come into view right about...Ah, there we go."
They eventually reached the top of a hill and saw a small fishing town with the sunset directly shining on top of it.
(Raelyn) "Excellent. We should reach the town by nightfall."
They all continued walking silently until Dutch spoke up.
(Dutch) "So uh, any idea what that creature is like?"
Everyone had read the report given to them by Sitri, but no one actually knew what they were in for.
(Romeo) "It said a serpent, so maybe an underwater snake or something."
(Mickey) "We aren't strangers to alien life, but I doubt it'd be simple to kill. This place seems to have magic after all."
(Raelyn) "It matters not. If our guns can work, then we can kill it."
(Duvalie) "I'm more concerned about those weird floating chubby things the Knights of Favonius mentioned."
(Buck) "What did they call them...Abyss mages?"
(Dutch) "Think that's it. They don't seem that tough to beat."
(Romeo) "Especially when we can put a round between their eyes from a hundred yards away."
(Duvalie) "If that's the case, then why are they so dangerous?"
(Mickey) "Guess we'll find out soon. Until we actually fight one, don't think we can properly assess the situation."
Finally, they reached the town's entrance. The concrete path shook beneath their equipment, gathering strange looks from the townsfolk.
Some mothers hid their children behind them while some of the men passing by whispered to each other.
(Romeo) "Think we might be standing out a little."
(Duvalie) "You all maybe, I look perfectly fine. Might be mustard bottle over here that's getting all the looks."
(Raelyn) "...You are referring to me?"
(Duvalie) "Duh! Who did you think I meant?"
(Raelyn) "What is 'mustard'?"
(Buck) "Good lord man, just how far in the future are you?"
(Raelyn) "It is the 42nd millennium."
(Dutch) "...Damn. That explains why you don't really seem to lighten up."
They made their way to the center of town, where multiple people kept staring at them.
(Romeo) "Any particular reason why we're standing out in the open like this? Not exactly doing us any favors with the people here."
(Duvalie) "Shut it, trying to find a tavern or something. There's gotta be one here."
Mickey and Buck helped Duvalie look around their surroundings to try and find a tavern. Romeo and Dutch shrugged and made sure the townspeople weren't going to try anything.
Raelyn was about to help when he heard small footsteps approaching.
It was two children who were chasing each other, most likely playing. They had failed to notice the offworlders they were running towards until a girl hit her head on Raelyn's leg.
(Girl) "Ow...! What in-"
Her eyes went wide when she stared up at the 8 foot tall Space Marine looking down on her.
Both the kids look terrified until Raelyn knelt down, trying to get on their eye level the best he could while taking off his helmet. He made sure his Bolter was strapped to his back.
(Raelyn) "My apologies. Are you hurt?"
(Girl) "N-...No sir."
Raelyn offered a hand to the girl. His hand was massive compared to the child, he could effortlessly crush her head with one hand.
Yet, he was extremely gentle in making sure not to harm or intimidate the children, the girl grabbing his hand and standing up.
(Raelyn) "If I can bother you for a moment more, do you know where the Tavern is?"
(Boy) "Um...It's to your right, mister. The building next to the docks."
Raelyn nodded and motioned away from them.
(Raelyn) "Thank you. Get home safe, now."
(Girl) "Thank you, mister."
The two kids appeared to be put at ease despite the size difference, and continued playing as if nothing happened. Something that shocked the adults watching.
The ODST's and Duvalie watched the exchange and were surprised that this walking ton of armor managed not to utterly terrify the two kids.
(Raelyn) "You have your tavern. Let us get to it."
(Duvalie) "...Right."
They continued off to the Tavern, still noticing all the adults watching them, albeit slightly more at ease.
(Romeo) "Now that sweet moment's over, time to see how well you work with a bar full of drunkards, big guy."
(Dutch) "Come on, I'm great with people."
(Mickey) "Sure, you are. How about Raelyn? Actually can he even get through the door?"
Duvalie was the first to enter, followed by the ODST's with Raelyn the last one.
He stared awkwardly at the doorframe, and back to his armor.
Even if he tried to crouch, he would break the doorframe.
(Raelyn) "I...will keep watch out here."
(Romeo) "Put those people skills to work."
(Buck) "Think you should be worried about doing that yourself."
[Another Round - Final Fantasy XIV OST]
Everyone inside the bar stopped talking when they saw Duvalie march in with the ODST's.
Duvalie saw the bartender and sat down on a stool.
The bartender was a bald middle aged man who had clearly seen better days. He had a scar over his left eye and a beard that was barely kept clean.
(Bartender) "...Can I help you with something missie?"
(Duvalie) "We're here on request of...what was her name?"
Buck stood next to Duvalie, making his visor visible so the bartender could see his mouth.
(Buck) "Hilda. Ring a bell?"
(Bartender) "Ah, Lord Holst's sister. And who exactly do I owe the pleasure of speaking to?"
(Duvalie) "I'm Duvalie."
(Buck) "Call me Buck, and this is my Squad. Fella outside is with us too."
(Bartender) "I see. And another question, who exactly ya workin' for? Don't see people dressed like yer group at all."
The people in the nearby tables began whispering. Mickey was the furthest from the group but he was only able to hear snippets of conversations.
(Man) "Hey, you think those are those House Isekai freaks? The ones from the calamity?"
(Man 2) "They sure as hell don't belong here, that's for sure!"
(Man 3) "Worse, they could be spies for the seppies'!"
(Mickey) "Think we might got a problem..."
Duvalie was clearly getting impatient, and before she could open her mouth and start a bar brawl, Buck butted in.
(Buck) "Mercenaries. We work for money."
The bartender raised an eyebrow as he eyed them up and down. Finally shrugging, he dropped the question.
(Bartender) "Fair enough. We'll send a letter to let 'em know people have arrived to take care of the problem. Shouldn't be more than a day or so. Now, ya buying something or am I going to have ta' throw your asses out?"
(Duvalie) "Hmph. Thought bartenders were supposed to be friendly."
(Bartender) "And I thought customers were supposed to be paying."
Now Dutch decided to intervene.
(Dutch) "Apologies for the lady. She's got a temper on her. Surprise us."
(Bartender) "Can do. You got gold?"
Everyone looked at each other awkwardly.
(Romeo) "Oh you have got to be kidding..."
(Buck) "Think we can get this one on the house?"
(Bartender) "This isn't a charity. And you're mercenaries, right? Surely you got some gold on you to get all the equipment on yourselves."
This got more people talking, and it was clear some of them were getting riled up.
Raelyn could hear the conversation from outside, and saw some of the adults from earlier getting a closer look at him.
(Raelyn) "..."
Raelyn's visor picked up more signatures. Some of them were armed. He used one hand to knock on the doorframe, alerting Romeo and Mickey.
(Romeo) "Hey, Gunny. Think things are about to get real ugly."
One of the customers stood up from his table and shouted with an ale cup in hand.
(Man) "Come on, pay the damn drink and quit causing a scene! Mercs always got coin on them! You one of those damn offworlders?!"
(Man 2) "Nah, worse than one, he's a seppie!"
(Man 3) "WE DON'T WANT ANYMORE TO DO WITH YOU, KEEP YOUR SEPARATIST MOVEMENT OUT OF HERE!"
More and more people riled up, making the ODST's keep a finger on their triggers.
Duvalie kept her cool on the outside, ready to lash out if someone dared make a move.
Raelyn grabbed his Bolter and calmly held it in his hands, watching everyone suddenly stiffen up.
(Bartender) "...Well?"
(Woman's voice) "Sorry, sorry. We'll pay, they're with us."
Everyone suddenly turned to a girl who seemingly appeared out of nowhere, putting gold onto the table.
Duvalie made a noise that no one could decipher if it was a swear or a gasp.
Buck turned to the girl who had just saved them from a potential firefight.

(White-haired girl) "They just forgot to bring their gold with them...Again."
(Bartender) "Hmph. Aren't you a little young to be the boss of a mercenary team, kid?"
(White-haired girl) "Could say the same for the second Blade Breaker."
(Bartender) "Hah, got me there."
(Duvalie) "I...You...!?"
(White-haired girl) "If you wanna complain, do it later and not in front of customers. Gives us a bad rep."
(Buck) "...Thanks boss."
Everyone quickly played along.
As Raelyn was about to point the Bolter at everyone, two more people got in front of him, motioning to the left.
(Blue haired girl) "Hey, got our room. Quit standing around all scary-like."
(Orange haired boy) "Come on, it's this way!"
The orange haired boy winked at Raelyn, and having no better idea, he played along.
The blue haired girl looked at Fie and nodded.
The white haired girl slid the gold to the Bartender and sighed.
(White-haired girl) "We'll take it to go. Keep the change."
The white haired girl turned to the group and pointed at the blue haired girl.
(White-haired girl) "Follow her and don't cause a scene again."
Duvalie looked like she was about to scream when she saw the blue haired girl. Not wanting to deal with this mob, Buck shoved her along.
(Duvalie) "H-Hey, what the?!"
(Buck) "Shut the hell up and move it, the last thing we want to do is start a fight!"
The ODST's, Raelyn, and Duvalie followed the orange haired boy to what appeared to be a rented out building. Amazingly, Raelyn could actually fit through the door.
When everyone was situated, the blue haired girl put a device on the door and window, and with a little static noise, she nodded in satisfaction.
Tumblr media
(Elliot) "Whew, man! Things looked SUPER bad there..."
Tumblr media
(Laura) "Oh...It's you. That would explain how the townspeople became aggravated so quickly."
(Duvalie) "Believe me, you lot are doing the same to me...!"
(Elliot) "Wait...Duvalie?!"
(Romeo) "Jesus lady, just who DON'T you know?"
(Raelyn) "More friends like Rean, I presume?"
(Duvalie) "WE ARE NOT FRIENDS!"
(Buck) "Clearly. Anyways, thanks for pulling our asses out the fire. Where's that white haired one?"
The door opened, and she was carrying some mugs of ale in her hand.
Tumblr media
(Fie) "...Hey."
She casually gave most of the group their mugs, leaving Duvalie without one.
(Duvalie) "...Really?"
(Fie) "Figured you didn't want one...Actually, we didn't figure you'd be here at all."
(Romeo) "That's great and all, but mind explaining just who you people are?"
(Elliot) "I'm Elliot! That's Fie and Laura, and we were part of the original House Isekai. Class VII, to be specific."
(Dutch) "And clearly you know Duvalie."
(Laura) "For better or worse..."
(Raelyn) "Seeing the situation we are in, I would rather not alienate the only help at talking to the locals here."
Despite the fact he had a helmet, she could feel a piercing gaze shoot straight through her.
(Buck) "Agreed. So, what brings people such as yourselves here?"
(Fie) "Hm. Long story short-..."

Doomguy's Base, 1 Day Earlier...
Tumblr media
[Briefing Time - Trails of Cold Steel 3 OST]
(VEGA) "All attempts of establishing a secure line has failed. It appears something is blocking our ability to respond."
Doomguy frowned as he checked the screens. Nothing was damaged on anyone's end, yet he was only able to receive Sitri's distress call.
He said nothing as he turned to the teleporter. It appears someone was finally arriving.
(VEGA) "Signatures detected. Class VII members: Elliot, Laura, and Fie. Authorize access?"
Doomguy nodded as he put his helmet on, letting the three former House Isekai members materialize onto the pad.
The first one was Laura, quickly followed by Elliot and Fie. Elliot appeared to be staggered while the other two were barely fazed.
(Elliot) "Oh man, still not used to that!"
(Fie) "Doubt we ever will."
(Laura) "Instructor. It's been quite some time."
They turned their attention to Doomguy who gave them a nod.
(VEGA) "It is a pleasure to see you all well."
(Laura) "Likewise. I only wish the circumstances were better."
(Fie) "Tried contacting everyone else we could, but they were either busy or didn't respond at all, so for now we're all you're getting.
(Elliot) "We received a distress call from Sitri. Is everything alright in Fodlan?"
Doomguy shrugged and motioned for them to follow him out the room.
(VEGA) "A distress signal was sent out, and normally we would have been able to respond, but an unknown variable has been preventing us from doing so. However, we are still able to keep track of any movement via teleportation of former House Isekai members."
(Fie) "If it has the ability to block dimensional calling, that's pretty strong, whatever it is."
(Laura) "Has anyone else been able to respond this entire time?
(VEGA) "Yes. Rean Schwarzer, Towa Herschel, Satou Kazuma, and Aigis have been the only four to do so."
(Elliot) "That explains why we couldn't call Rean and Towa."
(Laura) "Aigis I can understand, but for Kazuma to show up? That surprises me."
(Fie) "Guessing you haven't been able to ask them what's going on either?"
(VEGA) "Your assumption is correct."
(Fie) "Guess that means we gotta get our hands dirty."
Fie checked her gunblades and stretched her arms.
(Laura) "Hopefully combat won't be necessary."
(Elliot) "Buuut that doesn't really seem possible, if I'm being honest. Trouble tends to follow us no matter where we go."
Doomguy checked his shotgun's ammo as he opened up the door to another teleportation chamber.
(VEGA) "We thank you for responding regardless, but we will ask if you may investigate this phenomenon on our behalf."
(Fie) "Sure. Things are pretty stable back home."
(Elliot) "So, if we're going into Fodlan, how are we going to keep in contact?"
(VEGA) "We are assuming there will be a total communications blackout. If you do not respond within a week in Fodlan's time, we will directly intervene."
(Laura) "All right then. Looks like our goals are to find former House Isekai members and find out what's going on."
(VEGA) "Affirmative."
(Fie) "Mission parameters established then. Let's begin."
(VEGA) "...Strange. There appears to be a teleportation to the Goneril territory."
(Elliot) "What's so weird about it?"
(VEGA) "It was not activated by Sothis, but rather the tower itself."
(Everyone) ?
(Laura) "But there is no one there. Right? Instructor Byleth made sure of that."
(Fie) "Guess that's another thing we gotta investigate. First let's head to where that teleportation took place.."
(Elliot) "That's Hilda's last name, isn't it?"
(VEGA) "Hilda Valentine Goneril. Unofficial retainer to Claude Von Riegan."
Doomguy stood behind a console and pressed several buttons and looked at the members of Class VII.
(Elliot) "So three things to do, got it! We'll see you soon!"
(VEGA) "Good luck, Class VII."
Doomguy gave them a thumbs up before he pulled the lever.
They were absorbed into a beam of light and were taken to the location VEGA reported...
...
===
(Buck) "So...that portal wasn't theirs?"
(Fie) "No. Something else pulled you here, and we came to find out why, among other things."
(Elliot) "On top of that, we have to find out specifically why you all were brought here. Our group didn't have much reason other than it being chance but yours it seems almost deliberate."
(Raelyn) "I fail to think of anything unique happening to where I'd be brought into a world like this."
(Dutch) "Same with us."
(Duvalie) "Agreed..."
(Laura) "Well, despite the unusual circumstances that has brought us here, the former members of House Isekai ask to join forces with your group."
(Raelyn) "No objections here."
(Romeo) "It's either work together or be stuck in this place forever, so we might as well."
(Mickey) "You got our support."
The ODST's and Raelyn turned to Duvalie.
She crossed her arms, barely able to keep her anger down.
(Buck) "How old are you, exactly?"
(Duvalie) "SHUT UP! FINE! FINE! WHATEVER, YAAY WE'RE BEST FRIENDS! NOW ENOUGH!"
(Elliot) "Hah...g-glad to see she hasn't...changed?"
(Raelyn) "There is nothing about her personality that I have seen thus far that you should be glad about, Elliot."
(Duvalie) "EXCUSE ME?!-"

It really didn't take me long to figure out what my emotions do. Whenever I was happy, things went right in the world, and when I was sad things went wrong. At first I thought it was a coincidence, but the correlation was too obvious to be chance. After that, I always did my best to stay in a good mood. I'd do things I enjoy, and avoid people and things that upset me.
I have to admit, staying happy became a lot harder. It almost seemed like a job at this point, since it was my responsibility to be happy. I still tried my hardest despite this, and when I was happy, hearing about all the good things happening in the world put me in an even better mood. Though that did go both ways, and hearing about bad things happening made me more upset, so I eventually decided to not look at the news when I was already uspet.
This was all a pretty good strategy for keeping my mood up, but one day everything went wrong, and I had no idea how to stay happy then.
I was heading down to my job at the local retail store and I bumped into someone on the street. "Whoops! Sorry about that." They said nothing, and just kept walking. I was surprised I didn't see them sooner. They had a head full of messy green hair along with bright blue eyes. I didn't really think much of it, after all, it was a busy street, people run into each other all the time. Once I got to my job, I saw my best friend getting his stuff. It looked like he was leaving, but we were supposed to be on the same shift today. I walked up to him as he was putting his hat on. "What's going on Chase? Are you leaving?" He turned to me with a sigh. "Yeah, I just got fired. I have no idea how I'm gonna pay for my date with Stacy now."
"Oh, geez." I was pretty disappointed myself. I always looked forward to the days when we worked together. "Well, good luck on finding a new job, I guess." Chase nodded as he walked past me. "Yeah, I guess."
I sighed as he left. This job was going to get a lot harder without him here. But, I still had my job to do, so I put on my name tag and I clocked in.
After a while of uneventful work, a woman came in and slammed a box of party supplies onto the counter. "I need to return these," she demanded.
"Okay ma'am," I said, a little nervous, "do you have the receipt?"
"No, but I don't need this anymore. I never needed it, so give me a refund on it!"
"I'm sorry, but can't return anything without proof of purchase." I had never had one of these conversations before, and this lady was really intimidating.
"I'm not keeping stuff my husband bought as a prank! Of course you teenagers don't care about how much money all this costs, you probably get handed money just so you can spend it all on stupid parties, don't you?"
Of course, I didn't actually do any of that, but she didn't know that, and I wasn't allowed to tell her that. "I want to help you, but I can't give you a refund on anything without a receipt."
The woman let out a frustrated growl. "I don't have time for this." She stormed out of the store, leaving the box on the counter. I allowed myself a sad sigh as I picked up the box and moved it off the counter, putting on a brand new smile as the next person in the line brought up their stuff. "Good afternoon, did you find everything you were looking for?"
~ ~ ~
By the end of my shift, I was exhausted. I wanted to call someone for a ride home, but my phone had died, so I had to walk. To make matters worse, I saw a cat that had been hit by a car on the side of the road. By that point, I was barely holding back tears, although I kept telling myself to stay cheerful, which only made it harder. I decided that I'd have a few cookies to cheer myself up when I got home.
I walked through the door, and saw Logan and Thomas sitting on the couch, watching the news. Obviously, it was all bad news. Logan turned off the TV as they both turned to me. "Bad day?" I must have looked pretty upset, because I never told Thomas about what my emotions do, but something must have prompted him to ask that. I just shrugged. I didn't want to talk about it, because I felt like I'd break down in tears if I did. I walked past them wordlessly and went into my room to change out of my work clothes. When I walked back out, I was determined to improve my mood, so I put on a smile and went to get that cookie, but I opened the cookie jar to find that it was empty. "When did we finish the cookies?" I asked to anyone who was listening. Thomas spoke up from the living room. "I'm pretty sure Lauren finished them with Roman and Virgil." I wanted to be upset about this, but I was determined to stay positive.
It's okay Patton, you can just make some more. That should be fun, that should make you happy.
I began taking out ingredients, but it turned out we were out of a flour, sugar, and eggs. That was definitely a disappointment. I told myself I'd be able to get through it anyway.
After that, though, was when I completely lost composure. Elliott walked out of their room, their shoulders hanging as they sat down next to Thomas on the couch. Logan looked up from where he was reading on the other end of the couch. "Mitchell left another message today." I overheard them saying. My heart broke in sympathy for my parent, and I quickly walked out of the kitchen and into my room, barely even trying to hold back tears anymore.
As soon as I was alone in my room, I collapsed to the floor, letting out all the sobbing my day had been leading up to. I don't know how loud I was being, but after wiping tears from my eyes, I looked up and I was surrounded by my family, all with faces of varying levels of concern and sympathy. Once my crying slowed, Virgil, eho was sitting in front of me, said "Hey, what's wrong?" I lowered my head onto my knees. "Bad day," I muttered, overcome with guilt for how many people I must have gotten hurt today. "Patton," I heard Logan say at my right, "you can't keep getting upset at yourself for being upset." I shook my head. "No, you don't understand," I said.
"I'm pretty sure I do, and Patton," Logan continued, "you're going to have your ups and downs, and it'll be less... disastrous if you just let the bad days be just a little bad. The world can take a little bit of misfortune, believe me."
I looked up at him, confused. "Are you saying you-"
"Yes Patton, and for your information I regularly keep up on the news so I can tell how your feeling. And yes," Logan continued, "everyone else knows too."
"Oh." I looked around at everyone, unsure of how I never found out.
"So why don't you just tell us what's going on today?" Virgil asked, scooting over to sit next to me. I shrugged, not really sure when exactly my day started going terribly. "Well on the way to work I bumped into this guy, which I really didn't mind that much, but after that I found out my friend got fired," I then just started stating everything that happened that day. I didn't mean to, really, I just started talking and then I couldn't stop myself. Once I was finished, Roman gave me a thoughtful look. "What did the guy on the street look like?" I blinked at him, confused as to why he was questioning that. "Well, he had blue eyes, and really messy green hair."
"What was he wearing?"
"I dunno, this big wavy coat?"
"Roman," Logan sighed, "what does this have to do with anything?" Roman didn't answer, despite everyone beong equally confused. He just stood up, muttered something about "Marvin" and walked out. "I have a hunch about something, I'll be back, hopefully with good news." Thomas sighed and shook his head after Roman left the house. "That boy, honestly. Anyway, how about me and Elliott go get those ingredients you were needing? You can just stay here and relax."
"No!" I said, a little too frantically. "I-it's just," I mumbled, "you could get hurt."
"It's fine," Logan said. "Camden's got an eye on the TV, and things are improving. They should be able to get there and back safely." Camden was the name Logan gave his familiar. I slowly nodded, and Virgil stood up and grabbed my hand. "All right, now you come here and watch some TV." I stood up and followed him as he led me to the couch, Logan, Kai, and Lauren following behind while Thomas and Elliott got ready to go to the store. Me and Virgil sat next to each other on the couch, Logan sitting a small distance away while Kai and Lauren sat near us.
After a while of watching Steven Universe, Roman burst back through the door. "Patton, you will have to worry about this misfortune no longer!"
"O-okay. Um, what did you do?" I asked.
"Well that person you bumped into, I'm actually acquainted to him. He calls himself Marvin the Magnificent. He claims to be a magician, but for as long as I knew him he couldn't do any actual magic. Turns out he got magic powers through a deal with a demon or something, and he had to agree to curse you with misfortune." He sat down on my other side, so now I had one sibling at both of my sides. "I talked him into releasing the curse," he said, probably more casually than what the situation would call for.
"Okay, thanks then," I said, despite Roman already being immersed in the show. We continued watching until Thomas and Elliott returned with the baking supplies, then Virgil, Thomas, and Lauren joined me in baking cookies. Once I tasted one of the cookies from out of the oven, I figured that the day wouldn't be as bad as it had been.
