He can’t remember much before his sister’s arrival, but will always attribute his childhood happiness to her. Their parents treated them both as their world, even if Anuli would often debate her mother’s love for her. No bad incident occurring until the day his sister fell from a tree. Even that turned into a happy memory, the reason for his future career. He was the one who reached her first, devastated at how he couldn’t ease her pain. To him it was a horror, but somehow when their doctor explained to the ten year old that she would put Anuli back together again, fix what was broken; Ekene could see the value in knowledge of broken things and their aid in teaching how to repair.

It was this notion that led him to join the British Army to learn mechanical and electrical engineering. He had never considered it as abandoning his sister, for he always intended to be there for her, but somehow she seemed lost to him almost as soon as he enlisted. Within a few years he was no longer stationed in the same country as she, and the family letters he received during his tour in Iraq were always written by their mother, so contained no true insight in how any of them were doing without his presence. It was isolating for the first time he had been outside his home country to be without his family. Without the discipline he would learn from his squad mates and superiors, he may not have been able to stay. The atrocities he was faced with were not made easier by the idea that he was working to protect people. The only light during his time there was the lives he saved as part of the explosives unit, and meeting his future wife.

[Ick wanders off into the woods to use the bathroom]

[Ick hears a shuffling behind him]

Ick: [looking over his shoulder] Huh? OH SHIT!

[Ick is lying face down on the ground, passed out]

Havoc: So... what's the plan exactly?

Sneezy: I think we should've let them duel.

Havoc: Sneezy, one of them is the real Ick-

Sunshine: What about interrogation-

Cahir: [dropping Finnan] Oh, I know! Don't worry guys, I've got this.

[Cahir approaches the Icks, both of whom are tied to a tree]

Cahir: Okay, Icky and Not-Icky. Icky is my best friend, so only the real Icky would know the answer to this question...

Ick A: Oh for fuck's sake...

Cahir: ... What's my hair color?

Ick A and Ick B: [simultaneously] Brown.

[Cahir returns to the rest of the party, dejected]

Cahir: I got nothin'...

Sneezy: [sarcastic] Shocker!

Finnan: Um. If I may...

Sunshine: What is it, Halfling?

Finnan: It's just... I noticed the changeling is gone...

Sunshine: The... changeling...

[The group turns to the tree to find Ick B has suddenly turned into [REDACTED], who is smiling at them]

Havoc: Oh. My god.

[Sneezy laughs hysterically in the background]

[Cahir rushes to Ick, gently putting a hand on his cheek]

Cahir: Oh, Icky! I was so worried about you! Are you okay? Are you hurt? Do you need anything?

Ick: Dude, back up! I'm fine.

Ick: Cahir, leave the Halfling alone.

Sneezy: Hey, are you boys sure you'll be okay sleeping out here?

Ick: What are you on about now? We always sleep outside.

Sneezy: Well, you know... I heard these woods are haunted...

Cahir: Haunted?

Ick: Oh, is that so?

Cahir: Like... by ghosts?

[REDACTED]: Well, more like... one ghost.

Sneezy: Yeah, I heard it takes people's faces. Pretends to be them or something just to mess with them.

Cahir: Their... faces?

Ick: Sounds like a load of shit to me.

Sneezy: Eh, yeah. You're probably right.

[REDACTED]: Anyway, we're off to bed. Goodnight, boys! Sleep tight.

Sneezy: Be careful out here.

Ick: Idiots.

Cahir: Icky... Can I sleep in your bed tonight? I'm scared...

Ick: What? No!

[Ick and Cahir cuddled up, both snoring loudly.]

Ick A: [entering camp] Man, I just got my ass handed to me.

[Cahir looks back and forth between both Ick A and Ick B]

Cahir: GHOOOOOOOST!!!!

Ick A: [looking at Ick B] What the fuck? [looking for his sword, realizing it's missing] What the fuck?

Ick B: Who are you?

Ick A: Who am I? Who are you?

Cahir: [hiding behind Finnan, muttering to himself] Ghost, ghost, ghost-

Sunshine: Okay, okay. Let's all just settle down. We can solve this calmly and rationally. Havoc. [dramatic pause] Get the rope.
