I just remembered that up until 5th grade, all of the sports teams I was in weren't separated by gender. I played basketball and baseball with boys. And we did just fine.

It wasn't until 6th grade when they segregated it by gender. It didn't make sense to me. I was now in softball instead of baseball, because "softball is for girls" and "baseball is for boys" (which confused me bc my dad was on an adult softball team).

Now, my brother's all-male team didn't win a single game. My all-girls team won every single one.

They presented the boys' team with this HUGE trophy, and if you wanted replicas of it, they were $30 each.

My team was presented with a very small trophy. Extras were $5.

That's when I decided gender-segregated sports were bullshit.

Last night I watched Áfram Latibær the og Lazytown stageplay with my partner and I really enjoyed it!! It was so fun and goofy, it was fun hearing melodies that would go on to be music or songs in the TV show and how the characters have changed

Sportacus in his keebler-ass elf getup works surprisingly well, and he's VERY different from Sportacus in the show. He's like 10 times more unhinged, more mischievous, even a tad bit devious at times 😳😳 uhm. Safe to say I found it really hot ahfjgj and I have hcs about the Sportacus LINEAGE and it's my personal belief that this guy is more like the GRANDAD to tv Sportie but....I may need to make an AU for this >///>

Tbh the strangest and most concerning thing about kids that I’ve observed get steadily worse is how these kids just…don’t know how to use a computer???

Like if you put a 12-15 year old kid and my 50 something year old mom next to each other and asked them to copy and paste using a computer, both would look at me like a deer in headlights!!

And yes I know some of this is because schools just don’t really have computer classes anymore (like I had ones that taught “proper” typing, Microsoft office programs like Word and PowerPoint, etc.) but like??? Every school I’ve been to so far has had computers for students so they’re all on devices all the time yet still don’t know how to use them.

Hell, they barely know how to type a URL in! Like! Huh! I’m genuinely concerned about them not knowing how to use a computer properly and how they use it so freely without proper thought and care as to what they put out into the world.

At the risk of sounding on high horse, those of you who can't stomach politics but want to make change in the world, have you considered early childhood education?

It's definitely no picnic, low wages, lots of burnout. But!

You make such a difference in people's lives.

Children are mirrors that reflect their surroundings. If you show them love, compassion, kindness, and respect, it will come radiating out of them like the son.

I don't have children of my own (thank god), but I've laid the foundation for over one hundred and fifty kids to be good humans.

The first five years of life are some of the most important in a person's development.

If you are sick and tired of grownups, kids are a breath of fresh air. Watching them work out conflicts, find solutions, overcome obstacles, is heartwarming. Now can my students be mean and nasty as hell? For sure! But we can learn from that. We talk about "it's okay to feel angry. It's not okay to hurt someone." and "You can ask for what you need, and people will help."

You don't have to go door to door, phonebanking, listen to NPR politics twice a day to make a difference in the future.

You can start small.

started watching another home makeover show and it hit me once again how much I want an AU where George and Sapnap are the hosts of a 'siblings getting their own rooms' show (they compete on which room suits their respective kid best) and Dream is one of the cameramen who ended up commenting out loud about something so he ends up being a faceless fan favorite. George does flirt with Dream a lot. Sapnap is very tired of it. They also compete about which room Dream would like the best, which is not the point of the show but in their hearts it is.

being a children's librarian is fun because you get to look forward to not having to answer questions about the printer or the mysteries of google drive like adult services does, but then you get asked questions about phonics and AR reading levels and you realize that there are mysteries the depths of which you can never fathom but you have to try because there is a very stressed parent right in front of you

watching bleach #046: Authentic Records! School of Shinigami again (for reasons) and among the many weirdnesses of this episode is the fact that it seems to be, like, the first day of school, or at least the first week, but everyone already knows how to cast a shakkahou and enough about swordfighting that they are already sparring. And if admission were for nobles only, it makes sense that this is stuff you might have learned in private tutoring or whatever, but how the heck is someone from Bumblefuck, Rukongai supposed to know this stuff? I mean, maybe you just have to sit in the back and be embarrassed if you don't know how to do it, idk. My real question is: is there shinigami cram school, and did Momo go? (of course she did)
