At the same time, love was burning me. I was limited by words. I had exhausted myself with love in the void, as if in the presence of a desirable and undressed — but inaccessible — woman. Without even being able to express a desire.
Georges Bataille, "The Roof of the Temple" from The Collected Poems of Georges Bataille (trans. Mark Spitzer)

I'm not even gonna pretend that the longfic I've been working on in the background isn't Durgetash. I'm absolutely obsessed with their dynamic, and Kass has rapidly turned into one of my favourite OCs ever. Of course I was going to write a fic about her absolutely horrific attempts to carve out a piece of her soul to keep for herself while she fist fights multiple gods and dies twice and points at the worst gremlin of a man imaginable and decides she's going to walk backwards into hell to redeem both of them

As I was staring at the void in front of me, a touch — immediately violent and excessive — joined me to that void. I saw that void and saw nothing, but it, the void, was embracing me.
