ever since i found out that highway gothic (typeface commissioned for use in the american highways) is optimized for legibility with just a brief glance at high speeds i cannot stop thinking abt how easily readable it is. like my eyesight isn't like immaculate or anything so i can sometimes have a hard time reading fine print but even when the roadsigns are kind of blurry they're still pretty easy to read

"She stole my cinnamon bun." That...was not what Hero intended to say the next time they saw Villain.

Villain looked at them, unimpressed. "Really? That's what you're pouting about?"

"I'm not pouting," the hero pouted.

Villain rolled their eyes. "Right. And I should care about this because…?"

"Because it's your kid and she stole my cinnamon bun," Hero huffed. They didn't know why they were acting so childish. Normally they would go stiff around Villain, and the other was hardly up for banter on a good day.

"I'm not responsible for what she steals," Villain said dismissively.

Hero eyed them - still without pouting - and came up with what must have been their best and worst idea ever. "You should buy me a cinnamon bun."

Villain raised a delicate brow. "And why would I do that?"

"Because your kid stole my cinnamon bun? We've just been over this. It's only fair."

Their nemesis snorted, "And what about me makes you think I'm fair?"

"The fact that you're going to buy me another cinnamon bun," Hero said resolutely.

Villain scowled. Since when was Hero this annoying? The other didn't look like they would be changing their mind any time soon, so the criminal decided to just give in. They had better things to do than argue with petty heroes.

"Fine," they spat. "You'll get your cinnamon bun when we're done here."

They fully intended to escape without making good on that promise but it seemed today was just not their day.

Of all the times for the little nuisance not to show. She hadn't turned up all day but Villain knew she always lurked around in this area. She was annoying and needlessly demanding when it came to attention, but they would take anything over this.

After pinning them down and arranging a time, Hero finished the fight and the two went their separate ways. Villain was careful to watch their back after leaving the house later on but Hero still managed to find them.

Beside Villain, Hero hummed as they walked to the bakery where Hero had gotten their precious cinnamon bun. They seemed far too happy for Villain's liking.

"Would you shut up?" they finally snapped.

Hero did so immediately.

Villain cast their eyes about. She was always in this area. Why hadn't she shown up to be her usual bothersome self yet?

"Looking for someone?" Hero queried.

Villain gave them no more than a side-eyed glance in acknowledgement. Hero continued to observe them in silence.

They knew the moment she started following them. Villain's shoulders relaxed minutely. If Hero noticed the change they didn't comment on it.

"This bakery of yours is ridiculously far," Villain grumbled. They'd been walking for over ten minutes now - ten agonizingly awkward minutes.

"It's not much farther." If Villain didn't know any better they would have thought that Hero sounded nervous. But that was ridiculous. They were the one forcing Villain to do this in the first place.

Villain glared and crossed their arms. This was going to be a long evening.
