I’ve heard of one man bands, but this is ridiculous… if there are two things I love, it’s old band photos and silent comedians, so undoubtedly this one is a home-run. Buster Keaton, circa 1930. That’s my best guess based on the presence of a Cliff Edwards Tenortrope (if I’m not mistaken, Dobro started making those in 1930)- a particularly cool detail. A pal of mine out in New Orleans has got one- as a Cliff Edwards fanatic, I’d kill to get my mitts on one.

fucking idiot
by unreal corvus
(chords follow lyrics)
shopping at freddy's so i
can overeat when i get home
all of the strangers and products
remind me i'll go home alone
i'm overwhelmed and exhausted
resisting the impulse to fly
standing in the produce section
losing my fight not to cry---
then at the seafood counter
a woman who looks just like you
i haven't got all of my groceries
but fuck it i'll check out i'm through
remembering how you once left me
in a safeway a few years ago
i was too stupid to stop you
i stood there and just watched you go
fucking idiot! i'm a fucking idiot!
fucking idiot! i'm a fucking idiot!
i let you go
you did a show at the coaster
september the evening was cool
i sat in the dark and i watched you
and felt all my heartstrings unspool
you were in steel magnolias
a goddess you strode on that stage
a woman wreathed in your power,
giving life to the grief and the rage---
in the parking lot later you kissed me
"i love you" was all that you said
i mumbled some bulshit response and
five years now i've lived with the dead
i was too stupid to stop you
i stood there and just watched you go
but this song's to tell you i loved you
even if you never know
fucking idiot! i'm a fucking idiot!
fucking idiot! i'm a fucking idiot!
i loved you why didn't i tell you?
i loved you why didn't i tell you?
i let you go

ghosts and the river
by unreal corvus
(chords below lyrics)
man, i wish i could leave here
where the fuck would i go?
spent most of my life here
this town's all i know
the streets and the sidewalks
wandered since i was young
are all crowded with ghosts now
their names ash on my tongue
don't see the changes day to day
how did the years just slip away?
no place could ever feel the same
i hear the river call my name
all the kids i grew up with
wonder where they have gone
guess they're all dead or scattered
somehow i lingered on
left for all sorts of reasons
grass is greener it seems
blown over the night sky
on the winds of their dreams
don't see the changes day to day
how did the years just slip away?
no place could ever feel the same
i hear the river call my name
i remember always running
i remember having dreams
river cabin summers
the wimahl when she gleams
wake up in that old house
with a future through the door
but that house is gone now
there's no future here
any more
yeah i wish i could leave here
my ghosts won't let me leave
all the friends that i've buried
hopes and loves that i grieve
all the stories and grave sites
family roots in this ground
keep my soul firmly anchored
keep me hanging around
i linger on from day to day
endure the years that slip away
once i ran here but now i'm lame
the ghosts and the river call my name
