#i started traditional.. in the mid-2000s i got a wacom tablet. then drew mostly digital up until hmm.....#2017 or 2018....????? then i ... went fully traditional after that.#learned a few things: i do Way Better when i have a LIMITED CHOICE of what colors i have available to me#this watercolor set only has 12 cakes? as long as it hs primary secondary and tertiary colors then we are game na#or most of them anyway.#point being: digital art gave me too many endless possibilities of color and style and brushes to experiment with#me a chronically indecisive person who overthinks things#now ... painting takes time to set up and making sure i have all my materials in order and whatnot#so sometimes just drawing and inking something in my sketchbook is all the energy i have#but i wanna color something! well here is where i go back to digital art for a bit#my phone display is about 6x3 inches#about 160x77mm#it comes with a smart sylus which is functional enough for me to doodle#the small screen size limits my range of motion so that i dont get too caught up in “maybe a wide stroke here or a big stroke there!”#the size constraints force me to prioritize what i need to do to color my drawings without wasting time deliberating#so. yeah!#so this is the method i use the most AND it is my PREFERRED method#bc i rly do love painting with colored inks but ahhh...#sometimes i got the case of the morbs yknow?

Hi! I just wanted to hand something off to you. I was the one who asked about self-harm, cutting in my case, as a positive expression of sexuality (though I used sexuality as shorthand for what I consider a tertiary feeling to traditional sexuality, something that I think more closely describes my relationship to cutting as an asexual person, but that's a tangent). Anyway, your exceptionally open-minded reply bolstered my confidence, like, a lot. It motivated me to start pulling together relevant resources with help from other users in the Death Panel discord server. The first thing I was given back was a piece which immediately changed my life, and I wanted to share it. More specifically, I've always found something bothersome about the concept of "harm reduction" as a keystone in the topic of self-harm; primarily that it leaves open the "rhetorically" undeniable assertion that the ultimate reduction in harm would be abstinence of that harm in its entirety. I wanted to point especially at the concept presented in this article which concerns the definitive delineation of harm. I've tried like 4 times now to summarize the point made, but I cannot in a way which is as satisfying as the piece itself: https://pasleciel.substack.com/p/measure-once-cut-twice-in-defense Thank you again, because your act of understanding has genuinely saved my life. I don't think I'd have felt like I had a leg to stand on without your reply.
Thanks for sharing that link, I will check it out! I'm really glad you messaged and glad that my reply was helpful to you. I think "harm reduction" does kinda present the stigmatized act as one that does still cause some harm -- and in presenting it that way, it tries to convince the skeptical that permitting a behavior is better than attempting to ban or control it because acceptance allows that harm to be mitigated or worked around. That position still presents the behavior as a thing to be permitted or tolerated by others rather than the individual's right and sole business no matter what. The harm reductionist model came into being in order to push back against forced abstinence, forced institutionalization, and forced treatment -- the norm was already to rob the person engaging in the behavior of their autonomy by default, and so an argument for giving that autonomy back kinda had to be made. But abandoning that sort of thinking entirely and abandoning clinical judgements of excessiveness or harm is the logical next step.
If we continue trying to drag more behaviors under the banner of the "socially sanctioned" one by one -- as the piece you linked puts it -- instead of doing away with the power of social sanctions entirely, then we don't really get very far. We keep having to prove that the behavior has some prosocial and positive health benefit. I've always favored total libertarian anarchy instead. A person should be free to remove body parts, cause themselves disability, scar or mutilate themselves, change the shape of their body, change their body's functionality etc as they see fit because that's theirs to decide, and anything less means that people have the authority to judge whether their reasons are "good" enough (which usually turns into demanding that the person prove that the changes they want will make them more valuable to somebody else).
All said, I'm really glad you find cutting enjoyable and meaningful, and I brought up the example to my disability ethics class at the medical school this week thanks to you.

MBTI typings + analysis of weak hero class characters
disclaimer: this analysis would be based on cognitive functions, so please don't tag this post with "why is he an e, he should be an i" or something like that. please read about cognitive functions, it's life-changing.
and this is my personal observation and analysis, so i'm not claiming 100% accuracy. but i have been studying mbti typology for 5 years, and i believe my hyperfixation on weak hero characters is strong enough to offer an interpretation that's atleast in the right ballpark. feel free to share your own opinions, though.
yeon sieun — INTJ (Ni-Te-Fi-Se)

INTJs lead with introverted intuition (Ni), which means they're constantly absorbing patterns and projecting outcomes. that’s essentially sieun’s entire combat strategy. he fights with foresight, not force. his brain is always several moves ahead, calculating silently before acting. he also has auxiliary extraverted thinking (Te), which makes him prioritize efficiency. this explains why he’d rather stab someone with a pen and end the fight cleanly than try to brawl with someone much stronger than him. it's just more efficient.
INTJs have tertiary Fi (introverted feeling), which acts like a quiet internal moral compass. it’s always there in the background, nagging him. it's not loud enough to dictate his decisions, but still present in case he changed his mind. that’s why he hesitates to help juntae at first. not out of apathy, but because the voice in his head keeps getting suppressed by his dominant intuition, which keeps telling him to mind his own business. it keeps warning him of the consequences of getting involved. however, he takes action when he finally listens to his tertiary Fi telling him, you know it’s the right thing to do.
his inferior Se (extraverted sensing) makes him inattentive to his physical environment unless it directly interferes with his internal world. he's never interested or notices people around him, unless his peace is disrupted. a blatant example of this is when he completely misses seongje showing up at suho’s hospital. he doesn’t register what's happening around him until it directly concerns him.
he’s also emotionally private (typical INTJ trait — they don’t like performing vulnerability). sieun is more expressive in his unread text messages to suho than he ever is face-to-face. it's a classic Ni-Fi wall: he feels deeply, but processes everything internally, where no one can touch it.
ahn suho — ESTP (Se-Ti-Fe-Ni)

ESTPs are sensor-thinkers, grounded in the present and driven by logic. suho’s dominant Se (extraverted sensing) makes him highly reactive to his environment. he only intervenes when he senses something is wrong; not out of moral obligation, and definitely not out of concern for consequences. his instincts are fast, physical, and attuned to danger. we see this in his professional fighting skills (MMA trainee and all) and athletic abilities. it's also obvious in the way he expresses love through action, taking on tiring jobs for his grandma without complaint, teaching sieun how to fight. it's a classic Se expression of love: fixing, serving, fighting, guiding.
his Ti (introverted thinking) is what makes him sharp. he’s logical and objective, but not necessarily fair, because he's not led by morals (which doesn't mean that he doesn't have morals at all, but it's not the driver of his decisions). he's loyal to who he cares about, not to any sense of abstract justice. like how he’ll go to hell and back for sieun, but won’t extend that same energy to everyone (this can be backed up by sumin pd, who pointed out that unlike baku, who protects the whole school, suho only protects sieun. baku has a higher moral compass, as a high Fi-user, but more on that later). his humour is also very Ti-coded; dry, clever, and often rooted in logic ("how can you talk about food while eating?" "you talk about life while living it").
tertiary Fe (extraverted feeling) gives him just enough charm and emotional fluency to read a room, crack a joke, or comfort someone. but it’s also fragile. he gets defensive fast, especially when misunderstood or unfairly blamed (like how he gets physically aggressive when beomseok starts beefing with him for no reason). weak Fe makes him take criticism personally and lash out emotionally.
he also has inferior Ni, which means his intuition is weak, and he rarely thinks ahead. like when he gets into gilsu’s car without a solid plan. he improvises well (texting sieun from his watch), but forgets to consider that gilsu could check his phone too.
personality-wise, sieun and suho are actually a lethal pair in combat. sieun has the sixth sense of an Ni-dom, while suho has the reflexes of an Se-dom. but romantically, they’re lowkey doomed. a tertiary Fi and tertiary Fe pair. neither are good at emotional communication. both express love through action and protection, not words.
oh beomseok — INFP (Fi-Ne-Si-Te)

beomseok runs almost entirely on introverted feeling (Fi), a deeply internal moral compass that tells him this is right even when it objectively… isn’t. healthy Fi stands for staying true to your values and beliefs. unhealthy Fi becomes a justification engine. and beomseok's Fi has been warped by years of trauma. that’s how we go from offering to pay suho to save sieun from bullies to wanting to destroy suho for betraying him. he does what he feels is just. the line between good and evil becomes how do i feel about it, and the trauma twists those feelings into something darker.
his Ne (extraverted intuition) gives him imagination and ideas, but unchecked, it creates spirals; overthinking, projection, paranoia. like how he starts believing that suho and sieun were replacing him with youngyi.
tertiary Si (introverted sensing) makes him cling to what’s familiar. that’s why youngyi’s addition to their group unsettles him: she disrupts the group dynamic he’s grown attached to.
his inferior Te (extraverted thinking), the logic function, is like a faint alarm bell in the back of his mind, whispering this won’t end well, but Fi drowns it out. he knows best. or thinks he does.
youngyi — ESFP (Se-Fi-Te-Ni)

youngyi leads with dominant Se, paired with Fi — which means she lives in the moment, feels things deeply, and owns it. she’s unapologetically herself, unbothered by rejection, which is exactly the kind of ability that gets her to befriend someone as guarded as sieun. she isn’t intimidated by anyone. she's grounded in the present, quick to act, and physically assertive, often responding to situations with bold, instinctive energy.
what sets her apart from suho (who's also an Se-dom), though, is that her actions aren't filtered through detached logic (Ti), but through a strong internal value system (auxiliary Fi). she doesn’t analyze her choices with practical calculation, she feels her way through them, led by what resonates with her personally.
but Fi also governs identity. so when beomseok accuses her of ruining the group, and essentially causing suho’s coma, it doesn’t just sting, it shatters her. she doesn’t just feel attacked; she feels like her sense of self is broken. that's why she disappears from everyone's lives, because how can she face sieun, when she can't face herself? that’s the danger of Fi: when it internalizes blame, it takes everything personally.
park humin (baku) — ENFP (Ne-Fi-Te-Si)

ENFPs are chaos with a conscience. and baku is no exception. baku’s auxiliary Fi makes him emotionally honest and morally anchored, but his dominant Ne keeps his mind in motion, always bouncing between possibilities, fears, and imagined futures. that’s why he hesitates to fight again (because what if it ends the way it did with gotak?) but when something triggers his core values (Fi), when someone he loves is in danger, he acts out. consequences be damned.
he jokes around to defuse tension, but he's deeply intuitive, emotionally attuned, and cares more than he lets on. it’s why he’s one of the only people who can get someone like sieun to open up; not by forcing it, but by simply being emotionally available, non-judgmental, and real.
while his high Fi gives him access to vulnerability, it also acts as a strong boundary. he refuses to work with baekjin, despite his history with him, because it violates his sense of right and wrong, because baekjin brutally hurt gotak and ruined his career, which is unforgivable. he only crosses that boundary when threatened and forced.
baku’s tertiary Te is blunt, explosive, and reactive, especially under stress. it acts before planning. when stressed, he grabs for Te, takes charge, punches first, thinks later. his Fi follows his own moral compass. he refuses to fight and preaches non-violence. but when people precious to him are hurt, he almost chokes a guy to death.
seo juntae — ISFJ (Si-Fe-Ti-Ne)

juntae is the emotional backbone of the group. ISFJs are built to nurture, and his Fe (extraverted feeling), paired with Si (introverted sensing), makes him deeply attuned to others' emotional needs. he notices sieun skipping meals, withdrawing, and not sleeping. his Si gives him observational memory; he tracks patterns and changes, then responds with quiet care.
he’s the only character with strong Fe in the whole cast, which is why he's the only one who genuinely hates conflict, and is the peace-maker of the gang, readily resolving misunderstandings and arguments between his friends. Fe also gives him strong empathy, which is what makes him slow to judge. he can easily read tone and emotional behaviour. it’s why he doesn’t believe sieun when sieun lies and says he doesn’t want to be friends anymore, because he knows it’s not true. he’s the one who tells both sieun and bakugotak that the other doesn’t mean what they’re saying.
Fe + Si makes him the one person who understands without demanding. he’s the first to tell sieun, "it’s not your fault," not because he thinks it’ll help, but because he knows it will. and yet, he holds grudges. because Si doesn’t forget. that’s why he refuses to forgive hyoman, even after he joins their side.
go hyuntak (gotak) — ISTP/ESTP (Ti-Se or Se-Ti)

this might be a controversial take since gotak is often typed as an ISFP, but i see a strong mix of Ti and Se in how he operates. i'm still unsure which one leads, but what’s clear is that he’s an active, physical, and analytical thinker. he’s impatient, yes, but also deliberate. he observes, processes, then acts, like when he tells juntae to escape before counting opponents in the underpass fight with seongje, or when he decides to fact-check the rumor that sieun wants to fight him instead of reacting right away.
his Se is undeniable: he’s aggressive, athletic, and always grounded in his body. even after quitting taekwondo, he stays physically engaged, taking up basketball, aggressively skipping rope despite his bad knee, because “he has to do something.” that’s textbook Se: movement as expression. like suho (another high Se user), gotak communicates care through physical action; teaching juntae to fight, teaching sieun how to play basketball, physically lashing out when hyoman insults baku, or breaking into the union garage when baku disappears, even though sieun asked him not to. he acts because he has to: Ti wants clarity, Se wants momentum.
but what truly leans him toward xSTP is his low Fe. His emotional communication is clumsy; he needs baku to prompt him to apologize or say thanks. His Ti strives to stay calm and factual, but his emotions; protectiveness, irritation, and loyalty; simmer just beneath the surface. he doesn’t judge quickly (a sign of Fe-awareness), like how he defends sieun from trashy gossip despite a rocky first impression of him. still, like suho, he lashes out when he feels misunderstood, like when he says cruel things to sieun during their fallout. And with low Ni he rarely thinks far ahead; breaking into the garage wasn’t a plan, just Ti-logic and Se-impulse running full speed.
gotak is a head-heart-body kind of character. he’s loyal without needing to say it, perceptive without being flashy, and thoughtful in a language that often goes unnoticed.
geum seongje — ENTP (Ne-Ti-Fe-Si)

this is really the easiest one to type because seongje is a textbook ENTP: chaotic intellect.
dominant Ne makes him erratic, unpredictable, and dangerously flexible. he's constantly probing, experimenting, and testing limits. people are like a puzzle to deconstruct. Ne is the function that gives you the skill and urge to explore multiple possibilities, which explains how seongje can justify switching sides mid-fight if it feels fun. he'd join his enemies, then betray them for the punchline.
his tertiary Fe doesn’t function like suho or gotak’s, who pair Fe with Se. while suho and gotak are highly reactive and defensive over them/their loved ones being insulted or misunderstood, seongje’s Fe is more detached. he treats insults like jokes ("is it fun playing na baekjin's minion?" "it is fun. i get to beat up losers like you.").
his Fe makes him socially aware, but it's not a strength, it's weaponized. he understands emotional tones, social roles, and twists them to provoke or entertain. he mocks sincerity (like how he laughs at gotak over his protectiveness for juntae) but still craves attention and reaction (feels hurt because baekjin didn't ask him if he was okay after fighting with sieun).
so ENTP makes seongje unpredictable, perceptive, and always a step ahead.
na baekjin — ENTJ (Te-Ni-Se-Fi)

baekjin, as an ENTJ, is essentially a more dangerous, volatile version of sieun. he's smart, strategic, and ruthlessly efficient; a master planner who relies on his introverted intuition (Ni), to forecast outcomes and his extroverted thinking (Te), to execute them with precision. to baekjin, efficiency isn’t just useful; it’s everything. he doesn’t waste time on what feels good or what’s morally right, only what gets results.
but his inferior Fi (introverted feeling) means he lacks the internal framework to process emotions authentically. he struggles to recognize emotional nuance, both in himself and in others, which leaves him disconnected from his own vulnerability. that’s why, instead of just saying “don’t leave me,” he orchestrates emotional hostage scenarios (like threatening to hurt gotak) to keep baku close. it's twisted, but, to him, weirdly efficient. and in baekjin’s world, effectiveness often replaces intimacy.
he knows what works, not what's right. he weaponizes logic without empathy. and you can’t out-think him, because he’s already seen your next ten moves and calculated exactly where you’ll land.
baekjin uses control and intelligence as a shield, mastering manipulation to avoid vulnerability.
so that ends my analysis. if you need a detailed analysis of a specific character, have contrary opinions, questions about mbti, or need any clarification, then leave me an ask!

Writing Notes: Types of Characters
There are 3 ways to categorize character types.
One is via archetypes—broad descriptions of the different types of characters that populate human storytelling.
Another way is to group characters by the role they play over the course of the story.
The third method is to group characters by quality, spelling out the way they change or stay the same within a narrative.
As you craft your own story—whether that’s a first novel, a screenplay, or a short story—consider the way that these character types function within the overall narrative.
If we categorize character types by the role they play in a narrative, we can hone in on 7 distinct varieties:
Protagonist: The main character of the story is the protagonist. They should be carefully crafted with a logical backstory, personal motivation, and a character arc over the course of the story. Often the story will be told from their point of view. From a heroine like Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games to a miserable wretch like Doestoevsky’s Underground Man, the protagonist is the character the audience is most invested in.
Antagonist: The villain of the story is the antagonist. Think Lex Luthor, Lord Voldemort, or Dr. Charles Nichols in The Fugitive. Note that an antagonist is not the same as an anti-hero like the Joker or Walter White. Anti-heroes are villainous people who function in a protagonist’s role.
Love interest: The love interest is the protagonist’s object of desire. A good love interest will be compelling and three-dimensional, like Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby or Rhett Butler in Gone With the Wind.
Confidant: This type of character is the best friend or sidekick of the protagonist, the Sancho Panza to their Don Quixote. Often the protagonist's goal flows through the confidant—although not every story needs one. A particularly famous confidant is Horatio in Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
Deuteragonists: These characters often overlap with confidants. A deuteragonist is close to the main character, but the story’s main plot does not directly correspond with their own character arc. Horatio doubles as a deuteragonist. In Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, Samwise Gamgee is a deuteragonist. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Benvolio is a deuteragonist who doubles as a confidant, while Mercutio is a deuteragonist but not a confidant.
Tertiary characters: Tertiary characters populate the world of the story but do not necessarily link to the main storyline. These minor characters serve any number of functions and may have varying degrees of personal dynamism. Think of Father Zosima in The Brothers Karamazov.
Foil: A foil character primarily exists to bring the protagonist’s qualities into sharper relief. This is because the foil is effectively the opposite of the protagonist. In the Star Trek series, Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock serve as each other’s foils since their personalities are so notably different.
One way to classify characters is by examining how they change (or don’t change) over the course of a story. Grouped in this way by character development, character types include:
Dynamic character: A dynamic character is one who changes over the course of the story. As such, a dynamic character makes the best protagonist. In Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, both Huck and Jim are dynamic characters. Similarly, each character in the love triangle of William Styron’s Sophie’s Choice—Stingo, Sophie, and Nathan—is a dynamic character.
Round character: Closely related to a dynamic character, a round character is a major character who shows fluidity and the capacity for change from the moment we meet them. By contrast, some dynamic protagonists do not change until actions in the story force that change. Round characters can be noble, like Konstantin Levin in Anna Karenina, or morally dubious, like Humbert Humbert in Lolita.
Static character: A static character does not noticeably change over the course of a story. Sometimes known as a flat character, these characters often play tertiary roles in a narrative (think of various parental figures in Roald Dahl’s children's books). Many villains are also static: They were evil yesterday, they’ll be evil today, and they’ll be evil tomorrow.
Stock character: A stock character is an archetypal character with a fixed set of personality traits. Shakespeare’s various fools are stock characters, as are some of his comic creations like Sir Andrew and Sir Toby in Twelfth Night.
Symbolic character: A symbolic character represents a concept or theme larger than themselves. They may have dynamic qualities, but they also exist to subtly steer an audience’s mind toward broader concepts. Most are supporting characters, but some stories have symbolic protagonists, such as Dostoevsky’s The Idiot. When it comes to symbolic supporting characters, Boo Radley in To Kill A Mockingbird is an example, representing a much larger legion of outcasts.
Characters in a work of fiction can usually be grouped into archetypes. These archetypes have been categorized by Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, the American literary theorist Joseph Campbell, and generations of authors, screenwriters, and storytellers. Here are the 12 commonly discussed character archetypes:
The Lover: the romantic lead who’s guided by the heart. Their strengths include humanism, passion, and conviction. Their weaknesses include naivete and irrationality. Some famous lovers are Romeo, Juliet, and Scarlett O’Hara.
The Hero: the protagonist who rises to meet a challenge and saves the day. Their strengths are courage, perseverance, and honor. Their weaknesses include overconfidence and hubris. Some famous heros are Achilles, Luke Skywalker, and Wonder Woman
The Magician: a powerful figure who has harnessed the ways of the universe to achieve their goals. Their strengths may include omniscience, omnipotence, and discipline, while their weaknesses center on corruptibility and arrogance. Prospero, Gandalf, Morpheus, and Dumbledore are famous magician characters.
The Outlaw: the rebel who won’t abide by society’s demands. The outlaw can be a bad guy, but not always. The outlaw’s strengths include independent thinking and skepticism. Their weaknesses may include self-involvement and criminality. Among the famous outlaws are Han Solo, Dean Moriarty, and Humbert Humbert.
The Explorer: a character naturally driven to push boundaries and find what’s next. Their strengths: They are curious, driven, and motivated by self-improvement. They are weak in that they are restless, unreliable, and never satisfied. Famous explorers include Odysseus, Sal Paradise, and Huckleberry Finn.
The Sage: a wise figure with knowledge for those who inquire. Strengths of the sage include wisdom, experience, and insight. In terms of weakness, the sage may be overly cautious and hesitant to actually join the action. A few famous sages: Athena, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Hannibal Lecter (an evil sage).
The Innocent: a morally pure character, often a child, whose only intentions are good. Their strengths range from morality to kindness to sincerity. Their weaknesses start with being vulnerable, naive, and minimally skilled. Famous innocents are Tiny Tim, Lennie Small, Cio-Cio-San.
The Creator: a motivated visionary who creates art or structures during the narrative. Their strengths include creativity, willpower, and conviction. Their weaknesses include self-involvement, single-mindedness, and lack of practical skills. Famous creators include Zeus, Dr. Emmett Brown, and Dr. Moreau.
The Ruler: a character with legal or emotional power over others. The ruler’s strengths include omnipotence, status, and resources. Their weaknesses include aloofness, being disliked by others, and always seeming out of touch. Famous rulers include Creon, King Lear, and Huck Finn’s Aunt Sally.
The Caregiver: a character who continually supports others and makes sacrifices on their behalf. Among their strengths, caregivers are honorable, selfless, and loyal. Among their weaknesses, they lack personal ambition or leadership. Sometimes they even lack self worth. Famous caregivers include Dolly Oblonsky, Calpurnia, and Samwell Tarly.
The Everyman: a relatable character who feel recognizable from daily life. When it comes to strengths, they are grounded, salt-of-the-earth, and relatable. In terms of weaknesses, they typically lack special powers and are often unprepared for what’s to come. Famous everymen: Bilbo Baggins, Leopold Bloom, Leslie Knope.
The Jester: an intentionally funny character who provides comic relief but may also speak important truths. Strengths include the ability to be funny, disarming, and insightful. Weaknesses include the capacity to be obnoxious and superficial. Famous jesters range from Sir John Falstaff to King Lear’s Fool to George’s parents in Seinfeld.

An Extensive Guide to My Omegaverse/Misceverse
While my version of the Omegaverse that I use in my fics and roleplays has the fundamental basics of the canon Omegaverse, there are several key additions and tweaks.
This post will be a work-in-progress, being updated as I think of other information that needs to be added.
Post under the cut.
Secondary Genders:
Secondary Genders are the foundation of the Omegaverse. They dictate who is topping, who is bottoming, who has heats or ruts. There are three Secondary Genders, which are Alpha, Beta, and Omega, along with subtypes of each secondary gender called Tertiary Genders, which encompass delta, sigma, nu, mu, psi, xi, gamma, digamma, elipson, enigma, zeta, and theta.
List of most common second genders.
Here is some information about the main three Secondary Genders:
ALPHA:
Alphas and alpha-subtypes are the second most common Secondary Gender. Approximately 40% of the population are alphas. They are known for being natural leaders with predispositions towards violence, possessiveness, and aggression. However, a good alpha can also be an excellent provider and protector, caring deeply for their mate and/or pack.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTIONS OF AN ALPHA:
Alphas are usually larger than betas or omegas. The average height is between 5’7 to 6’4, 140-250 pounds, but this will vary from person to person.
In males, broad shoulders and traditionally “masculine” features are common, along with wide chests and thick torsos, large hands and feet, strong jaws, and a naturally high level of testosterone.
In females, larger frames, narrow hips ( due to inability to become impregnated, therefore rendering null the need to have a pelvic bone wide enough for childbearing ), and thicker distribution of body hair is common. 99% of female alphas are born without a uterus and do not have a menstrual cycle.
FANGS/INCISORS:
Fangs, also known as incisors or “canine teeth,” are a prominent alpha feature, biologically designed for marking their territory ( omegas or other packmates ).
Alpha fangs are usually half an inch to an inch long, and are thicker than other teeth and sharp. The larger the fangs, the more appeal they have. Fang care is very culturally important, with all pups ( no matter their secondary gender ) being taught to thoroughly brush their fangs for at least twenty seconds longer than the rest of their teeth. Bright white fangs and sharper fangs are seen as desirable traits.
Some alphas, especially asexual, aromantic, or aro-ace individuals, may choose to have their fangs filed down by a dentist to show that they do not have an interest in relationships or dating.
KNOTS:
A knot is a thick circle of tissue at the base of an alpha’s member. When they are hard, that tissue inflates into a knot-like formation, biologically designed to be thrust past the rim of an omega’s hole to lock them together while the alpha ejectulates, to ensure that the omega’s body receives as much seed ( also known as cum, semen, ect ) as possible, raising the possibility that they become pregnant.
A common slang term for this is being “pupped up,” or bred, meaning that an omega has been claimed, mated, knotted, and then impregnated by their alpha.
Male alpha knots are usually between two to four inches in thickness. Female alphas, who have an inverted member ( but still fully functioning ) much like that of a male dog hidden within a sheath and will only appear when stimulated, usually have knots that are slightly smaller.

Female alphas may or may not have a vagina. Most commonly they will not, as it would lead to nowhere except in the 1% of female alphas who are born with a uterus, but biological variations have been documented in between 3-7% of the female alpha population.
RUTS:
Ruts are exclusive to alphas and alpha subtypes. They usually occur annually or bi-annually, often in the spring and fall. During this time, an alpha’s instincts drive them to mate and knot a partner, to breed and produce offspring with them.
Ruts last between 3 and 10 days. During this time, alphas will have raised libido and stamina. They may become increasingly agitated, to the point where they may give in to instincts altogether and become “rabid.” This is a slang term, and does not actually mean that they are diseased, but instead means that they pose a serious danger to any omegas in the area, and will be aggressive towards other alphas to the point of physical altercations.
However, ruts can also be triggered by an omega’s heat, or during bonding. More on all three subjects can be found below.
Rut suppressants are an OTC ( over-the-counter ) medicine used to control and prevent alphas ruts, especially ruts brought on from scenting an omega in heat.
An alpha on suppressants will be more mellow, cohabitate with omegas and other alphas better, and experience a lower libido and decreased instincts.
It is recommended by doctors that alphas go off of their suppressants at least once every four years to allow the body’s natural needs to be met. If an alpha suppresses their ruts for too long, they can suffer physical symptoms such as depression, mood swings, intense irritability, increased aggression, restlessness, along with an oversensitive member and body pain. The longer an alpha suppresses their ruts, the stronger their rut will be after they go off of their suppressants.
Who can an alpha mate with?
Alphas CANNOT fully mate with other alphas. Alpha-alpha relationships are not common, but not unheard of. Alpha-alpha relationships will never produce pups, as alphas are unable to become pregnant.
Alphas CAN fully mate with female betas, since female betas have a fully functioning uterus and vagina. Female betas have a low fertility rate but can still become pregnant. However, due to their lack of strong pheromones, female betas are not the most desired mate for an alpha.
Alphas CANNOT fully mate with a male betas, as male betas do not have a functioning vagina or uterus. Alphas who partner up or bond with male betas will not produce pups. Therefore, male betas and alphas do not often bond, but do often partner up for casual hookups to help unmated alphas through their ruts.
PACKS AND PACK ALPHAS:
A pack is a group of two or more individuals that share a bond. This includes tight-knit friend groups, family groups, or polycules.
Not all friends are packmates. Pack is the strongest bond that can be shared between individuals who ARE NOT mated to each other. Mated individuals can still be part of a pack while retaining a special, separate bond with their partner.
Packs often live together, sharing food, rent, and sleeping space. Non-sexual intimacy is crucial for the pack bond to remain strong. Cuddles, hugs, kisses, and sharing beds and nests are all common practices among packs.
Packs often include siblings or relatives but do not have to. A person can and often is part of more than one pack at the same time. For example, a person may be a part of a family pack ( parents, siblings, and the individual ) and one to two friend packs. Usually a person will have one specific pack they are closest to.
Another common pack structure is that of the POLYCULE. This is where multiple individuals are mated to one another to form a pack like those made by wolves. It is in these packs that the PACK ALPHA is the most prominent figure.
The pack alpha is often the most senior alpha in a pack. They are entitled to control over the other pack members, but may be forced from their position by unanimous vote if they are abusing their power.
In a family pack, the pack alpha would be the oldest alpha relative. This may mean an alpha mother, alpha father, alpha grandparent, or eldest alpha sibling is the pack alpha.
In a friend pack, the pack alpha would be the alpha who had been in the friend group the longest, or the oldest alpha in the group.
In a polycule pack, the pack alpha would be the most dominant alpha. They would have the right to breed and mate all omegas in the polycule, as well as partner up with the betas in the polycule. The pack alpha may, in some polycules, also have intercourse with other alphas in the relationship.
HOW PACK ALPHAS ARE ESTABLISHED:
Pheromones:
Whichever alpha has the strongest pheromonal presence has a natural predisposition to be the dominant alpha in any situation or in a pack.
Pheromones are also known as “scent.” Every person has a scent based on their pheromones that communicates their mood and what their body is feeling. There is a distinct scent for a person who is sad, happy, angry, or anxious. Alphas and omegas have the strongest natural pheromonal scents.
Physical strength or seniority:
Whichever alpha is physically the strongest may be more likely to be a pack alpha. This will usually not apply if there are multiple younger alphas in their prime versus a senior alpha, as an older alpha will naturally hold a more authoritative presence.
Unanimous decision:
Oftentimes, an alpha will become the pack alpha simply because they have proven that they can protect and provide for their pack. An ideal pack alpha is firm but not harsh and possessive but not controlling. This is often the case in family packs.
For example, a family might have an alpha father and beta mother. They would have children, thus creating a pack. Because the father is the most senior alpha, he would be considered the pack alpha.
Another viable example would be a polycule with two alphas, two betas, and one omega. The pack alpha would be the one of the two alphas who is stronger, more dominant, and has a more prominent pheromonal presence. The pack alpha will likely “pup up” the omega, mate and bondmark the betas, and packmark and bondmark the other alpha. The other alpha may be allowed to also mate with the omega and betas, depending on the polycule’s personal decisions and consent.
PACKMARKS, BONDMARKS, AND SCENT GLANDS:
Scent glands are one of the most important things to understand in the Omegaverse. Scent glands are small glands beneath the skin, often appearing as a bump or not at all, that produce pheromones and the unique “scent” of alphas, betas, and omegas.

( screenshot above is not mine )
Alphas usually have three scent glands, one on the nape of their neck and one on each of their inner thighs. They produce the “dominant” scent that alphas are known for, which allows them to force an omega, beta, or lesser-ranking alpha to submit to them ( both in a societal sense and for mating ). An alpha’s scent is extremely important to their omega ( if they are mated to one ). Their scent can calm their omega down in an instant and provides safety and security for their omega.
Omegas can have as few as two scent glands or as many as eight. The usual position for these glands are on the nape of their neck, one on each side of their neck, and one on each inner thighs, along with one on each inner wrist. They produce the “submissive” scent that omegas are known for, which naturally catches the attention of alphas. This scent is described as “sweet” or “alluring,” especially when an omega goes into heat, which is when their scent is the strongest and will be almost irresistible to an alpha and can cause any nearby alphas to go “rabid.” HERE is a post about nesting that is canon to my Omegaverse au ( not mine ). Omegas can produce a plethora of soothing scents, ranging from scents used to comfort pups or other distraught omegas, calm down an agitated alpha, or to self-soothe.
Betas often only have one scent gland at the nape of their neck and one on each wrist. Their scent is described as “weak” or “blank.” They produce very few pheromones except the ones used in secondary gender identification, marking them as a beta. They can also produce “safe scents” used to soothe an omega who has been upset by an alpha. Betas are like the gay best friend, in a way, comforting a person after a breakup.

The diagram above is a common example of scent gland placement, but this will vary from person to person.
PACK MARKS are not placed upon any scent glands EXCEPT for the parental or platonic, UNLESS that pack is also a polycule. A packmark are bitten marks that show that a person is a part of a pack, completing the pack bond, and will only remain as long as the pack bond is strong. If the pack bond is too weak or the pack splits up, the mark will fade into a pale white scar instead of a pink mark.
BONDMARKS are placed upon scent glands. They are bitten marks to show that two individuals are mated and bonded to each other in partnership. If the bond becomes too weak, the mark will fade into a pale white scar instead of a pink mark.
A mating/partner bond is a deep connection between two individuals that partially connects their emotions, thoughts, and psyches. It can also be called a soul bond. It is said that bonding with the person you want to spend your life with is one of the single most fulfilling experiences a person will ever have. Emotions are at an all-time high, and both omegas and alphas have described it as finding their "missing piece." Bonding between an omega and beta, alpha and beta, or other less common secondary genders is less intense due to the beta's lack of pheromones and lessened instincts, but is still a very intimate affair.
Pack bonds are not so much finding a "missing piece" as a feeling of deep connection, comradery, and something "bigger than yourself." This will change in polycule packs, when the members are not only packmates but also bondmates.
Note:
If a bonded omega is neglected by their alpha, causing the bond to fade, the omega will suffer detrimental physical and mental effects, ranging from deep depression, low mood, intense anxiety, body pain, fevers, headaches, flu-like symptoms, low energy, increased nesting, and more. The longer the omega is neglected, the more serious the symptoms will become. Severe omega neglect can lead to death and is punishable by court-mandated couples counseling and even heavy jail time if the bond is broken.
OMEGAS
Omegas and omega-subtypes are the third most common secondary gender. About 10% of the population are omegas.
Omegas are physically smaller, weaker, and more sensitive than alphas and betas. They get stereotyped as submissive stay-at-home spouses, but omegas actually have a wide span of individual personalities. Some omegas may be more prone to defensiveness due to instinctive fear of more dominant secondary genders, even coming off as snappy or aggressive. Other omegas fit a softer, more nurturing description, being good with pups and being naturally empathetic and companionable.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTIONS OF AN OMEGA:
Male omegas are usually between 5’0 and 5’7, weighing roughly between 100–180 pounds. They usually have smaller builds than alphas and betas, though their body types may range from slender, trim, stocky, pudgy, or more. Big eyes and soft skin, as well as the traditional “sweet” omega scent are key ways to spot an omega. Male omegas also don’t produce as much testosterone as male betas or male alphas, leading to less muscle mass and gentler features. They can be extremely agile and fast due to low distribution of body fat.
Male omegas typically have “litters” of 2-3 pups at a time due to their smaller womb size compared to female omegas. However, more than 50% of male omegas who have had multiple pregnancies report that at least one pregnancy produced a non-litter ( singular ) pup.
Female omegas are usually between 4’9 and 5’5, weighing roughly between 100–190 pounds. They most commonly have small, curvy builds, small breasts, and wide hips to accommodate pups during childbirth. They have difficulty gaining muscle mass and usually have more body fat to naturally sustain them during pregnancy.
Female omegas usually have litters of 2-6 pups at a time. Pups from litters may be significantly smaller than a non-litter pup, appearing premature, but with no actual health risk to the newborn. Studies have shown that litter-born pups evolve to have higher levels of competitive, extrovertive, and social behavior in adulthood due to the early bonds they make with their littermates.
Like alphas, omegas have “fangs.” However, their fangs are much smaller, thinner, and more blunt, since they are only used for claiming bites after an alpha has already claimed and mated the omega. Some omegas won’t even use their fangs at all, since marking their alpha is not necessary for the bond to be completed. They will often use their fangs for small nibbles and nips, especially along the jawline or neck, to show affection, companionship, or possessiveness. This is common between both mates and friends.
HEATS:
Heats are exclusive to omegas and omegan subtypes. They usually occur annually or bi-annually, often in the spring and fall. During this time, an omega’s instincts drive them to mate and be knotted by a partner, to breed and produce offspring with them.
Heats last between 1 and 3 days. During this time, omegas will have an extremely raised libido. They may become agitated, defensive, clingy, or anxious. Heats are emotionally taxing both mentally and physically for omegas.

Further information about heats has sadly had to be removed due to the post being flagged. Google can provide further information, since my Omegaverse AU is compliant with canon Omegaverse heat info. Seriously, though, it’s not fair that people post things far more explicit than this and yet somehow this gets flagged???
Betas
Betas and beta-subtypes are the most common Secondary Gender, making up roughly 50% of the population.
They're known for being the bridge between alpha and omega, the in-between "average joes" who are neither dominant or submissive. Betas are known for their level-headedness, loyalty, and trustworthiness, and they can be heat partners for omegas or rut partners for alphas.
PHYSCIAL DESCRIPTION OF A BETA:
Male betas can be anywhere from 5'0 to 6'0, 120-180 pounds, with light to moderate muscles and average builds. They have less testosterone than male alphas but over 30% more than male omegas. Their reproductive organs are the same as male alphas’, but they lack a knot.
Female betas can be anywhere from 4’8 to 5’8, 130-180 pounds, with light to moderate muscles and less fat distribution than female omegas. They usually have larger breasts but narrower hips, as female betas have a lower fertility rate and usually can only have 2-3 pups before becoming infertile. Instead of litters, female betas also usually have one pup at a time. Female betas have the same internal reproductive organs ( uterus, ovaries, ect ) as a female omega, but do not have heat cycles. Instead, most female betas have menstrual cycles of 28-30 days. However, up to 25% of female betas report that they have no menstrual cycles, which lowers their fertility rate further.
Betas lack fangs. They do, however, have canine incisors ( as regular humans in our world do ).
If a beta pairs up with an alpha, the alpha will bondmark them. If a beta pairs up with an omega, they will bondmark them using their canine incisors. The bondmark will lack definition and may scar less perfectly than a bondmark given by an alpha, but as long as the omega’s scent glands are punctured, the bond will be completed.

SUNRISE IN YOUR EYES, SUNSET IN MINE.
➳ synopsis: you had long resigned yourself to being married off to a wealthy family. it was a fact of your life you'd known since childhood. you hadn't prepared yourself for the organised chaos of ootori kyoya as your husband-to-be. he, too, wasn't ready for the unfamiliar warmth of someone who he hadn't batted an eye at until now.
➳ character/s: ootori kyoya
➳ warnings: fluff, gn reader, it's very sappy, slow burn, mentions of a proposal/arranged marriage, acquaintances to lovers, kyoya and reader match each other's freak (workaholics), mentions of food, mentions of injuries, mentions of sex (neighbours be like), made up ootori family lore, infinite domestic banter
➳ word count: 4.3k
➳ notes: slaved over who to write this for but (for some reason) one of my ohshc posts continues to pop off so i decided to come back and feed y'all some more. i spent too long writing this... but i'm trying to get better about writing as a practice and not just when i feel like doing it- also whoever be saying an em dash is a sign of ai can fuck themselves, i'm a serial em dash user.
𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 / 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 / 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 / 𝐰𝐢𝐩 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭
he knew who you were. it was impossible not to when you catered most of, if not all of his family functions and club activities. naturally, you were also made aware of the ootori's existence since you were in elementary school. your faces were imprinted into each other's retinas, yet you never conversed beyond business exchanges.
"my father wanted me to thank you for your assistance last night," kyoya informed monotonously. "you truly are one of the best."
you nodded politely as you stashed your belongings into your bag. "i appreciate the recognition, ootori. it's always a pleasure to help loyal clients such as yourselves."
he smiled gently, but you saw through the artifice. "speaking of which, the host club have an upcoming ball next month," he began. he opened his mysterious black notebook, and you refrained from sighing at his predictability.
"platters or a course dinner?"
"platters will do."
for years, this was the peak of your relationship. as a family of professional chefs, you always stood behind the ootori's at innumerate conferences and fundraisers. despite growing up within proximity your whole lives, a friendship never blossomed. not even when you signed the contract that sealed your marriage. admittedly, you didn't know who your partner was when your signature tattooed the paper, but you'd learnt not to ask questions anymore.
comparatively to your peers, you got engaged rather late. prior to your first meeting with your fiancé, you had shed the graduation robes that signified your completion of tertiary education. the clothes that donned your form beneath the cloak remained as you pushed open the large double doors to your drawing room. a lean figure turned away from the window, and you would've laughed at the way kyoya's mouth hung agape if not for your mirrored expression.
"you." your voices harmonised as you acknowledged each other's newfound presence in your lives. a silence befell the room, and the sun's rays illuminated your faces as it dipped below the horizon.
"didn't you buy the company back in our ouran days? i don't understand why you would agree to such an arrangement," you wondered. you folded your arms over your chest, and kyoya hummed in thought before sitting on the chaise lounge.
"i did, though it seems my father is quite set on meddling with my life even into my adult years," he said. you sat on the armchair beside him and threw your legs over the arm. he eyed your posture with a raised brow that would've been microscopic had you not grown up with him. "making yourself comfortable, i see."
"my house, my rules," you retorted casually.
"fair enough."
"did you read the contract, then?"
he nodded, twisting his body to face you better. "indeed. i thought it was intriguing that we are to be affianced for a year before the wedding ceremony."
you laughed dryly. "publicity stunt. they want to promote a 'secret romance' that began from childhood."
"how tedious," kyoya muttered. "are we going to address the part where an apartment is chosen for us?"
"fine," you relented. "know that it's going to be a single bedroom apartment. they won't allow us to sleep separately." his eyes flicked to your shadows cast along the parquet floors. "don't worry, i wake up early and come home late because of work. we likely won't be sleeping at the same time as it is."
he smirked, but kept his focus on the floor. "very reassuring. i probably work later than you anyway."
"knowing you, i'll be waking up by the time you retire to bed."
"a bold claim knowing we've never spent the night together."
"i don't have to, i see the eyebags even from across the room," you said, resting your head on your hand with a shit-eating grin. "consider it an educated guess, if you will."
kyoya's lips curved into his typical sly smile. "can't argue with that."
even if he wanted to combat your teasing, his evidence was severely lacking. this was only made more obvious when you moved into your shared apartment not even a couple months later. he would've liked to say that this manufactured love story was made easier due to your long history, but he barely knew you past your professional career. this incredible oversight on his part — he had a suspicious amount of information about you at his fingertips and never looked at it properly — slapped him in the face when you started turning the apartment into a 'home'.
"opinions on a moss green feature wall? no, not the weird lime green, the darker one," you asked, staring at the large blank wall in the living room.
"wouldn't it be nicer to just decorate with colour instead of painting a wall?" kyoya countered, holding a hand to his chin.
you scoffed and waved his comment off. "don't you work in healthcare? we don't need a house to look like a hospital or a doctor's office."
"so long as the place looks cohesive and clean, i generally don't care what you decorate it with."
"really? mr. micro-managing-vice-president-of-the-host-club ootori?" you pushed, giving him a sidelong glance. "are you sure?"
he sighed and turned to inspect a different area of the apartment. "don't make me regret it."
in hindsight, perhaps he shouldn't have rescinded his autonomy in how his own apartment was decorated. thankfully, you seemed to have a brain between your eyes — he was partially worried he would marry a brat — and while initially he was indifferent to working late, the need to come home at the end of the day ate at his brain each passing week.
house plants accumulated in the corners of your living spaces and an assortment of lamps occupied cabinets and side tables due to your resentment of the overhead lights. he used to roll his eyes at such a trivial demand, but his eyes thanked him by the time the sun had risen and his eyelids threatened to close for the foreseeable few hours.
truthfully, your apartment looked much better with the stupid moss green wall, infinite lamps and plants. yet, he almost never saw you. the apartment was shared between the both of you, but it felt as if he was intruding on your space each time he unlocked the door. his shoes sat beside yours, but you were usually nowhere to be seen.
he ran a hand through his hair and blinked his fatigue away as he switched his work shoes for his fluffy house slippers you forced upon him. he paused in the entryway when he saw the lamps still illuminated the living room and a savoury smell drifted through the air. kyoya padded down the hallway and eyed you curiously as you hovered over a little pot on the stove.
"what are you still doing up?" he inquired, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. "it's 3:27 am, you can't be working on a couple hours of sleep."
"i have a day off tomorrow, mum," you responded, turning the stove off. "i can sleep in for once."
he watched as you ladled soup into a bowl and pushed it into his hands before forcing him onto the velvet couch he claimed he didn't like. "are we sure you're not the mum here?" he questioned.
"definitely not," you grumbled, washing the leftover pots and leaving them on the drying rack. "i'm more like the nurse in a hospital who forces you to eat even when you don't want to."
"mother adjacent."
you brought another tray over with rice and chicken. "rice, 3/4 white and 1/4 black, that's why it's purple. crispy scallion chicken. you're holding your miso soup." kyoya opened his mouth to thank you for your efforts, but blinked owlishly when you turned on your heel to head for the bedroom. "i'm going to bed now. good night. enjoy the food."
you waved behind you as you disappeared behind the door and he was only faintly aware of his bewildered expression until his stomach growled in dissatisfaction.
"thank you for the food..." he mumbled.
for the next half an hour, he ate in silence. a shiver ran up his spine at the foreign warmth that settled in his stomach and he wondered if this was how haruhi felt growing up as a commoner. he pulled a fluffy blanket from the arm of the sofa and draped it over his lap with a pensive expression. kyoya looked at himself in the reflection of the full length mirror you wedged into a corner 'for style' and internally sighed at his disheveled hair.
the quiet was off-putting without the never ending bustle of maids around the family estate. much of the house keeping was up to him to complete between the long hours and unfortunate necessity for sleep. sometimes he would come home to it finished already and you snuggled beneath the comforter.
thus begun a habit he only saw the product of.
later that morning after an insufficient amount of sleep, kyoya groaned to himself when his alarm sounded. he rushed to silence it under the guise of the beeping being obnoxious, but he knew it was because he didn't want to disturb your well-deserved rest. he sat upright with an unshakable drowsiness and glanced at your sleeping form. his dark eyes waited for a sign that you'd woken up, but there was none.
kyoya reluctantly trudged into the living room for a subpar cup of coffee and cringed when the sunrise blinded him more than he already was without his glasses. perhaps he'd developed an immunity to caffeine, because it didn't do much to wake him up before he showered and prepared for work again. between rooms, he always checked that your eyes remained shut and your head was still buried into the sheets. as he inspected the fridge for a quick morning snack, he thought he was hallucinating the little bento box in the fridge with a sticky note on top. he rubbed his eyes and frowned when it didn't fizzle out of view.
when he opened the lid, his gaze softened slightly. a bed of rice was accompanied by an assortment of vegetables and protein in an intricate design he'd never seen before. kyoya's attention moved to the note stuck haphazardly on the lid.
morning! made you lunch, 'cause i know you don't eat >:((
he cracked open the door to the bedroom one last time to look at your figure tucked beneath the blankets. his eyes returned to the note, and a genuine smile crossed his features.
"i appreciate it," he whispered into the early morning air, closing the door behind him as quietly as possible.
this soon became a pattern. you would awaken before him to head to your restaurant and leave behind a lunch for him to take to work. in the back of his favourite black notebook — you soon found out he had multiple of the same notebook — he had a museum of each of the little notes you'd graced him with to compensate for your absence.
despite the abhorrent amount of work assigned to him each day, his overtime hours gradually lessened in favour of the cozy abode you had curated. it was never complete without you, though. a dull wave of disappointment settled in his lungs each time he was greeted by a dark apartment, but he found himself thankful for the dimmable lights that would ensure your slumber remained undisturbed.
though his culinary abilities were much lower than yours, he found himself making you simple breakfasts in exchange for the lunches you bestowed upon him. he noticed how often you would reach for the yaki onigiri at host club events back in school, so he always left some plain for you to fry when you arrived at the restaurant. the practice seemed to pay off in the end.
"kyoya," you called as the apartment door clicked shut. "why are you awake at this hour?"
he froze in the kitchen as you padded into the living space. "doing some... future husband duties."
you suppressed a smirk and nodded slowly. "i see."
his dark eyes focused on the bowl of filling, but his attempts to ignore your lingering gaze were futile. "i don't need your criticisms, please. i'm trying."
"i wasn't going to," you defended.
"i can feel you staring."
"i'm simply observing."
"with your professional head chef eyes, no doubt."
you scoffed lightly and lifted yourself to sit on the kitchen island. "so dramatic..."
"i can hear you."
a hush blanketed the room as you watched kyoya assemble the onigiri, and you arched a brow in surprise. you swung your legs lightly as you scrolled on your phone while he kept his back to you as he slaved away in the kitchen.
"how was your special event tonight?" he asked, breaking the mildly awkward silence.
"it was good, i think whatever investors hosted the dinner got what they wanted," you said. "it doesn't matter to me, i just serve food."
"you do more than that," kyoya argued gently.
"not as much as you."
"i mainly sit behind a desk or go on site visits. you work from 5 til 11 in a kitchen commandeering dozens of chefs. they're incomparable."
you rolled your eyes at his insistence. "maybe we should make it a dozen and one. your onigiri shaping skills have improved since the first time you made them."
kyoya chuckled softly. "respectfully, i'm not cut out for that kind of work."
"never know until you try," you offered. "if you ever get fired, i can make a place for you on my staff."
he turned to look at you disapprovingly. "i'm the owner of the company."
"you might get overthrown," you shrugged.
"you have no faith in me."
"i haven't seen you work yet. maybe you could be overthrown."
"i ran a tight ship with the host club, show me some respect," kyoya huffed. "don't bite the hand that feeds you."
"i feed you most of the time," you objected.
he couldn't fight that. not when you never failed to prepare him lunch, sometimes even dinner, every day. if he ever woke you up when he came home late, you'd groggily make him a quick meal despite his protests. you always made plenty of meal prep in the case that he was still hungry, but couldn't be bothered to make anything. he'd never seen the soy marinated eggs run out, and he certainly never saw fried rice missing from the fridge once in the months of living together.
your presence beside him had almost been a constant since ouran, but he never knew he would miss the silent snark and unsaid care that followed you day in and day out. a business trip was nothing new to him. he'd gone on plenty of his own, but for once, it wasn't him going overseas.
the bed was perpetually empty for the next month and despite having all the space of a king size mattress, he kept to his side. his weight almost certainly dropped without your premade lunches and the midnight snacks. unexpectedly, he missed the self-imposed necessity of making onigiri each night. so much so that he made them for himself one night to pass the time. he soon realised he should've played music in the background to drown out the irrationally horny upstairs neighbours that only served to remind him what he didn't have.
perhaps he wasn't so good at change as he thought, for the host club raided the apartment unannounced to boost his morale that weekend. kyoya wasn't even sure how they managed to find out when he had a rare day off, but their intrusion was unwelcomed on this particular day.
"tamaki, i would appreciate if you didn't cause a ruckus," he grumbled.
"we haven't seen you in months, you can stand to tolerate us a little bit," the blonde dismissed.
"today of all days is not ideal," kyoya said, scooping a blanket from the floor and draping it over the sofa once again. just the way you liked it.
"why? it's not like you do anything but stare at a computer all day," hikaru accused, kicking his feet up onto the coffee table.
"how's the living arrangement going?" haruhi wondered. "i can't imagine you'd willingly share a bed with [name]."
kyoya sighed and pushed his glasses up. "our work schedules prevent us from sleeping together more than a few hours."
"bet you wish it was more, huh?" hikaru shot him a mischievous grin that earnt him a playful shove in the shoulder.
"i don't know what you're talking about."
"you're extra grumpy than normal," tamaki observed. "isn't [name] on a business trip in china?"
"...indeed, though it can't be helped," kyoya responded reluctantly.
"ah. the woes of long distance love."
"there is no such love. this is an arranged marriage."
the twins eyed each other suspiciously, but miraculously chose not to speak on it. mori grunted in acknowledgement, but also remained silent.
"so, when is [name] coming back?" honey asked.
"they will be returning tonigh-"
the door unlocked, and the host club froze. as you pushed it open and pushed your luggage through the opening, kyoya trekked across the room to greet you.
"welcome home," he began. "please excuse the buffoons in the living room, they will be leaving shortly." he shot them a dirty glare over his shoulder, though no one budged.
you laughed half-heartedly and tried to stifle a yawn. "it's fine, i can cook a small feast for them. your friends are always welcome." as you shuffled to the bedroom to abandon your luggage for tomorrow, you waved at the host club lazily.
kyoya tailed you and leaned against the doorframe. "that is unnecessary, you've just come back from a big trip. you should rest."
"it's not that long of a flight, don't worry too much," you assured.
"the sun is setting, i insist you rest."
"i'm fast, you've watched me cook before. it won't take long," you argued, though he didn't miss the carefree smile on your lips.
as you continued to debate the likelihood of you catering for the host club, they sat in the living room wide-eyed. who was this man, and what had he done with the real kyoya?
"i've never seen him so... domestic," haruhi mumbled.
"it's creepy," the twins agreed.
"the woes of love..." tamaki lamented.
"maybe it'll be good for him," honey proposed.
kyoya disagreed with this sentiment entirely. he, too, was wondering where the real kyoya had vanished to. he'd never craved 'home', not even when he was living in his family estate. he'd never wanted to cook for anyone, and he'd never willingly cleaned for anyone other than himself. he'd certainly never wanted to hug someone. or kiss them. maybe it was the flu he'd caught.
it was impossible to sleep away the sickness with the snot pooling in his nostril, but he wasn't super keen on sitting upright with a tissue semi-permanently lodged in his nose as he lets it drip. instead, he'd rather restlessly flip sides as the mucus slowly trickled from one nostril to another. the incessant sneezing didn't prove to be any help either. still, he refused to notify you.
not even when the moon hung high in the sky and you eyed the lump of blankets from the doorway.
"i know you're not sleeping," you said monotonously.
"no you don't," kyoya croaked.
"if you were, you wouldn't have responded as clearly as you did. you slur your words when you sleep talk. those are the words of a conscious man."
"i sleep talk?"
"oh, yeah."
"do i dare ask what i've said?" he grumbled.
"i advise against it," you grinned.
kyoya opened his mouth to spout a half-baked comeback, but the overwhelming urge to sneeze replaced the words. then another. and another.
"you're sick, aren't you?" you walked to the bedside and pressed a hand to his forehead. "did you go to work today, or did you take a day off?"
"i've been here since 2 am last night."
"responsible," you mumbled. "alright, stay in bed tonight. i'll get you something to eat."
"you don't have to," he replied.
"what's the story with textures today?"
a pause consumed the room, then the dark-haired man covered his face with the comforter. "just nothing too chunky."
"yes, chef."
the door clicked shut behind you, and he removed the covers from his head. kyoya attempted to sigh, but a series of coughs heaved from his throat. maybe the redness in his cheeks could be excused with his fever.
what am i thinking, why else would my face be red if not for the fever?
a gentle aroma crawled beneath the crack in the doorway and tickled his sense of smell. he'd never been so disappointed in his life to lose the ability to sniff the air.
a chill caressed his skin from underneath and tucks itself between his tendons. a groan escaped his chapped lips as you knocked on the door, but entered without permission.
"i didn't say 'come in', you know," he protested weakly.
"you're in no position to be giving orders."
you slid the tray of food onto the bedside table — the one on your side, of course — and lazily helped kyoya sit upright against the pillows. he groggily glanced at the food nearby, and a faraway stare possessed his irises. the steaming bowl of okayu sat beside a little glass of shogayu, and as you brought the tray to lay across his lap, he swore he saw the image of his mother in the reflection of the glass. he lifted the spoon to his lips and resisted the audible sigh that simmered in his lungs when the warm porridge travelled into his stomach.
his lips parted, then his vision blurred.
the icy embrace of kyoya's cold retracted when the tender heat of your cooking lined his stomach. his mother's image emerges amidst his limited sight, and in the fog, he sees a mirror. he doesn't remember his mother very well, but her memory lives within his closed-lipped smile and the curious tilt of his head.
"earth to kyoya?"
he blinked the visage away when you waved your hand in front of his face. a cough clawed past his throat when he offered you a grateful smile. worry etched itself onto your features, and he found he hated the way it drew creases along your face. yet, he let himself indulge in your rare concern.
"it tastes just like my mother's," he noted. "i haven't had okayu since i was a child."
your eyes darted along the wall behind him momentarily before returning to his. "criminal, truly," you mumbled.
"i don't usually receive such hospitality when i'm sick." kyoya took another spoonful of his food. perhaps it'll kill him with kindness for admitting something oddly personal.
"bet you didn't tell anyone."
"...not since my mother passed."
a stray tear slipped down his chiseled cheekbone, and against your better judgement, your thumb brushed it away. he tensed, just barely, and you instinctively leaned forward to press a chaste kiss to his forehead.
"eat well, then. get some more rest." you forced yourself to look away when kyoya looked at you with such vulnerability as you walked to the door. "i'll, uh, be in the living room. if you need anything, let me know."
his doe eyes disappeared behind the door as you left, and so did the lack of impulse control as you rested your head against the wall in shame. unfortunately, he never did ask you for more. a couple hours had passed and you never heard more than a sneeze, sniffle, or a cough.
you shyly cracked open the door, but you only saw an unmoving mass of illness beneath the sheets. his name echoed through the room gently, but this time there was no sarcastic response. your figure lingered by the door, then you retreated to the linen cupboard where you sourced some miscellaneous blankets.
your phone flash replaced the overhead lights as you padded back to the sofa and rearranged some of the pillows. the darkness of the sky beyond the walls of your humble abode faded as the sun crept above the horizon. it didn't seem to matter, for your eyelids provided the shadows necessary for your consciousness to slip into.
the bright morning rays seemed to disturb kyoya's much needed sleep. he blearily opened his eyes, though the dryness in them wasn't a good incentive to keep them open. a stifled cough erupted from his throat, and he unenthusiastically sat up to reach for the glass of water at his bedside. a deep sigh left his blocked nostrils when he saw it was empty.
the warmth of the bedsheets clung to his skin as he shuffled to the kitchen, but his trek was swiftly halted as he spied you on the couch. the floor beneath his feet soon matched the temperature of your shared bed before he abandoned his glass on the kitchen counter. he sat on the fluffy carpet beside your peaceful face, and he shook his head disapprovingly.
"you're gonna get a sore back sleeping like that," he said in a hushed voice, though there was no bite to his tone as he readjusted the blankets around your shoulders.
"hm?" you stared at him through half-lidded eyes, but he could see you weren't fully there yet.
"don't you have work?"
you snuggled further into the blankets and shut your eyes again. "i called off. you're sick."
"why are you sleeping out here? we didn't fight," he probed.
"you're sick."
kyoya could barely hear your slurred response, but chose not to ask any more of you in your deprived state. the dim lighting in the living room cast a soft glow that convinced him you were an angel sent from above. his original mission in the kitchen was long forgotten as he traced your sleeping features with his eyes.
"you still here?" he whispered, fiddling with the edge of the blanket that dangled near the ground. no response. not even a tired hum. he slowly leaned forward to press his forehead against yours. "...i'm glad it's you who i'm marrying."

Орлёнок (Eaglet)
Орлёнок (Eaglet) is an interactive story set in a country similar to 1910s-1920s Russia. You're a member of the overthrown Imperial Family, shaping the future of the Empire by virtue of arms.
It aims to be equal parts role-playing, dress-up and strategy game, with an emphasis on romance.
Although there will be no explicit nsfw scenes, it does include graphic descriptions of the horrors of war as well as personal tragedies, so please refer to the content warnings at the end of this post.
(as the project is still a wip, this overview is somewhat incomplete and will be gradually updated in tandem with the progress of writing)
DEMO: here (v0.0.2a, 21.06.2024)
Forum post: here
Number Spelling Function (IF writer resource): here
Secondary project: @a-dying-wish-if Tertiary (mini-)project: @perceptron-failure-if Quaternary project: [redacted]
The Empire of Nevetskiya - old, proud, and utterly dilapidated. While the Industrial Revolution has enabled other Monarchies - after a few quickly suppressed workers' uprisings - to become modern colonialist superpowers, exerting their influence all over the world, Nevetskiya is still overwhelmingly agrarian, and barely holding onto its outlying territories acquired in golden times long past.
Your Father Emperor, while ruling with an iron fist and unquestionable authority over the common people, is completely dependent on the shaky loyalty of the High Nobility, who frustrate any attempt to modernize the economy or administration, out of fear upstart merchants might, in time, replace the old Aristocracy.
When a sloppily executed coup d'etat eventually leaves your family dead and you a refugee, it becomes time you grab the reins of your destiny and amass an army to liberate and rebuild the country in the way you envision.
(this is meant to be a concise overview - a more exiting and detailed description of features can be found in the offical Interest Check Thread post)
extensive character customization
extensive army customization - both in a strategy and in a dress-up game sense
focus on story over stats - success is determined on the battlefield, not by your character's personality
five distinct regions with a wide cast of characters
complex personality system - for example, how your character actually feels and what they show to the world are separate things
several ways to rule - will you become a traditional Monarch, a Military Dictator, a democratically elected Head-of-State, or maybe proclaim yourself a Living Saint?
choose how much modernization is needed - will you allow women to bear arms, at the cost of offending the traditionalist nobles? Introduce tanks at the cost of foreign powers gaining influence?
how far will you go for victory? A political police, mass executions and the use of special types of weaponry might give you an edge, but is your vision really worth it?
a total of ten romanceable characters
(this naturally might contain slight spoilers)
The ROs
★ Yakov Tymofiyevich Sokolovskiy / Liliya Tymofiyevna Sokolovskaya ★
The Intelligence Director (gender-selectable)
One of your four original companions. As a member of the High Nobility, you've met them before - maybe you've even been childhood friends?
But even if you know them, it's hard to tell what they're truly like, as they seem to switch personalities effortlessly depending on the situation.
Their work is a mystery to seemingly everyone, but they always get results: as long as you let them act freely, no enemy agent has any chance to harm you or your cause.
Age: mid-20s
★ Semyon Ivanovich Orlov / Selena Ivanovna Orlova ★
The Cavalry Officer (gender-selectable)
One of your four original companions. A war hero and renowned expert when it comes to horses, the only reason they were not yet promoted to a lofty position in the War Ministry is their pragmatic approach to new developments, which hasn't mixed well with the typically very traditionalist views of the old Imperial officer corps.
Possessing a subdued but strong charisma and deeply respected by their soldiers as a wise parent figure, they are a solid pillar of support to you, and will reliably get things done - though some people might consider the cost for that too high sometimes.
Age: early 30s
★ Mikhail Pavlovich Voronin / Marina Pavlovna Voronina ★
The Young Visionary (gender-selectable)
One of your four original companions. They shot up through the ranks by impressing the War Ministry with bold new ideas for utilizing modern technologies and are hailed as a genius by many - though the older officers dismiss them as a dreamer at best and incompetent fool at worst.
With you, they hope to have found someone who'll appreciate their visions for the future - plus, their relative eccentrism has left them in dire need of a friend.
Their technical expertise might just prove to be the key to your success - if you can secure the foreign support needed to get the modern equipment needed to utilize it.
Age: early 20s
★ Leon Isayev / Leah Isayeva ★
The Noble Academic (gender-selectable)
One of your four original companions. Born to wealthy nobles, they graduated the Imperial Officer Academy with perfect grades, and feel honour-bound to your family.
They were the one to gather your initial force of loyalists and act as your primary advisor. But their loyalty is to the Imperial system, with you just a symbolic representative - can you convince them that you and your vision deserve their loyalty beyond that?
Age: late 20s
★ 'Little' Semyon/Selena Shvets ★
The Hero (gender-selectable)
A young cavalry officer and leader of your Southern Forces. A protegé of the "other" Semyon/Selena, they lack their cynical pragmatism, but make up for it with a firm belief in the triumph of a better world.
Some may call their optimism naive, and their personality has been mockingly compared to a Golden Retriever, but they have proven time and time again that underestimating them on the battlefield results in a crushing defeat.
Age: early 20s
★ Nikola ★
The Rebel (nb)
Leading an anti-authoritarian peasant uprising in the West, Nikola is more likely to be your enemy than your ally - but they don't seem to care enough about politics to refrain from flirting with you, so... there might be a basis of mutual understanding there?
Their personality is pretty sweet, at least - if you ignore the fact they'll cheerfully gun down prisoners if they feel like it.
Age: mid-20s
★ Rakhmil/Rakhilya Feldman ★
The Logistician (gender-selectable)
A member of the Western Rebel Army and best friend of Nikola's adoptive sibling, they've poured their soul (and countless nights without any sleep) into somehow maintaining the rebels' supply network in the face of their rapidly swelling numbers.
Unhappy with Nikola's carefree attitude, they might end up aligning with you instead in order to save their cause.
Age: late 20s
★ Arseniy Matveyevich Lebedev / Amaliya Matveyevna Lebedeva ★
The Enemy (gender-selectable)
Grand Duke Lebedev, the main leader of the Aristocrat faction, stood by and watched when your family was executed. Arseniy/Amaliya is their younger sibling, and serves as military commander of his personal forces that aid several warlords in their efforts to establish their own petty kingdoms.
But they're already uncomfortable with their brother's methods, and if you can convince them that you're not actually "an incompetent little puppet who's trying to ruin the country out of arrogant delusions", they might become a very valuable ally.
Age: mid-20s
★ Lyudmila Demyanovna Naumova ★ (f)
A minor noble who reluctantly turned into a Warlord in order to protect her territory and her people. All she wants is peace - but she'll not hesitate to fight if she believes it necessary.
Unfortunately, you can't just ignore her - all must choose a side in this war - but you have options how to deal with her. Will you subdue her by force? Or fall back on the age-old option of political marriage to secure an alliance?
Age: late 20s
★ Jan/Jana Novotný ★ (gender-selectable, under certain circumstances)
A member of your Personal Guard who has distinguished themself and eventually rises to become its commander. Others might betray or doubt you, but Novotný only cares about one thing - your continued, unharmed existence.
And they will go to any lengths to guarantee it.
Age: mid-20s
CONTENT WARNINGS
...will be added as they become relevant in the demo.

i'm a really firm believer that one of the biggest reasons as to why the (original) red dwarf US pilot failed so badly (amongst, let's face it, a litany of other reasons) is because they seemed to just forget that Rimmer is supposed to be one of the two main protagonists. He has less than 10 minutes of total screentime (and a lot of that time is spent as a tertiary character hanging around with Lister and Kryten) vs about 17 minutes of screentime in 'The End'.
And, I completely understand that they were trying to squeeze Kryten into a pilot that he was never originally a part of, and that they would ultimately have to cut down pre-existing scenes in order to achieve that, but...trimming down Lister and Rimmer's opening scene from 5 minutes to a minute and a half has a massive, negative impact on both Rimmer and Lister's dynamic and also each individual character respectively, particularly Rimmer, who doesn't get the chance to make up for the lost screen time elsewhere. Let's not even mention how they scrapped Rimmer's exam scene completely.
To me, it just feels like such a fundamental misunderstanding of what made the show so good in the first place. YES Lister and Kryten have a great dynamic, YES Lister and Cat have a great dynamic, but Lister and Rimmer's dynamic is integral to both the plot and to each character individually. Rimmer in the US pilot is forgettable and functionally useless. We don't really see enough of him to get a feel for his character or proper glimpse into his relationship with Lister. So, when he's brought back as a hologram and Lister and Holly roll their eyes about it, their disdain doesn't even feel justified. Sure, the version of Rimmer we've seen in this pilot isn't particularly likeable I guess, but we don't even know him well enough to really make that decision as an audience. Rimmer in 'The End'? There's already such a good feel for his character and we know exactly what his relationship with Lister is like and so we know exactly why Lister is dreading Rimmer's return as a hologram specifically.
It just feels bizarre to me that they messed up one of their main characters as badly as they did. Even if they'd managed to fix the countless other issues that the US pilot carried, it still wouldn't have worked when you've completely messed up your main character's foil.
#this post has been in my drafts since last july#so I'm setting it free. do with it whatever you will#red dwarf#arnold rimmer

The best cdrama you probably haven't watched - Tribes and Empires Storm of Prophecy
Most of my airing cdramas are ending within the week and unless we get a lot of other good replacements, it means time to rewatch a favorite.
And this favorite? The sprawling, epic fantasy Tribes and Empires Storm of Prophecy. Tribes has a huge cast (one of criticisms I've seen leveled at it - but that is why I love it; it's epic in every sense of the world), but it centers around three very different men - Shaofeng Heye (Zhou Yiwei), a son of a murdered barbarian chief who will eventually lead the rebellion that tries to topple the empire, Muyun Sheng (Huang Xuan), a disregarded prince who is half-fae and whose mother was supposedly the emperor's great love who he mourns (the truth is so much darker and more complicated) and Muru Hanjiang (Shawn Dou), the cursed son of the chief general who was abandoned to live on the street due to prophecy. Sometimes they are allies, sometimes enemies, sometimes both at once.
Despite the huge budget, it was not a hit either in China or internationally - people complained about the slow pace, the large cast and the lack of ending (the drama is 70+ eps and tells only half the story.) I loved every second of it. I grew up reading Russian novels which were also sprawling, with a huge cast, deliberate pace and often lack of resolution at the end. Perhaps that is why the one audience where I think it was a hit was the Russian-speaking cdrama fandom (all the MVs I can find, btw, are made by Russian speakers.)
youtube
(The above is a gorgeous general MV)
Why do I love it? Other than the amazing visuals (it's directed by Cao Dun, all of whose dramas are genuinely stunning looking), there is the fact that it really feels like a window in a whole other world - epic and a little alien, complex, full of horror and beauty.
And there are the characters and the narrative. Because this drama does not hurry, it's not only the mains who get fleshed out - secondary and even tertiary characters are fully-fledged. Two of my favorite characters are emperor and empress - two intense monsters locked in an emotional cage with each other, clawing at others and themselves, as bystanders die.
This is a dark dark world - made before the censorship tightening up, there is none of that "tireless emperor ceaselessly working for the people" nonsense or even other character spouting about working for the greater good. The emperor and most of the imperial family are monsters, grasping for power, lives of people as ants to them. Some characters do have ideals but they are not glib or easy or fit within modern parameters. This is a narrative that starts with Shaofeng Heye's entire tribe being wiped out because of an act of kindness by a boy (and his tribe and other tribes are locked into a life death struggle for resources perpetually.) Blind loyalty to the crown is not viewed as a virtue - Muru Hanjiang's father is a monster for throwing his infant to die due to a prophecy that states he's a threat to the throne.
youtube
(another general MV)
Also, me being me, there are ships. There are a bunch, but my favorite is Muru Hanjiang x Su Yuning. She's a minor noblewoman picked to be a crown princess because her horoscope says that whoever she marries will be the ruler (interestingly, MHJ's prophecy that upended his life is that he will end the rule of the Muyun dynasty - clearly they are meant to marry at some point, heh) and she has no choice about it. Their love is glorious and largely unspoken and kinda doomed; the way the drama ends with her ditching literally EVERYTHING and following him and his clan to horrifying exile that might result in death (and even as he still tries to drive her away to protect her, she knows what he's doing and vows to wait for him) is glorious.
This MV for them is amazing:
youtube
I also loved Shaofeng Heye and Princess Muyun Yan Shuang. Not functional in the least but so hot!
youtube
(The third main OTP of the prince x spirit, I liked but not as much as these two.)
Anyway, this is my next rewatch.

THANK you @onelastskip for that suggestion.............. might be a little late but.... here's why I think ESFP fits Elio to a T (and I can't wait to see how his shortcomings get explored especially in regards to functions...) (it delves with a few hcs, but addresses spring semester and stuff adressed in blank-house asks)
SO !!! ESFP (Se-Fi-Te-Ni) Elio right? Dominant Se makes a lot of sense for Elio. Se is all about getting sensory enjoyment out of life. He likes expressing himself through his physicality (and is good at it), sports in part but not only. He's known for participating in more than a few events thrown by the SGB (to the point of having a nickname because of his infamous way of filling out forms / to the point deja said the wall climbing event was for him). Elio is very open to new situations and quick to say yes if invited, an on-the-whim kind of guy and liking it that way. He can come off as a showoff (cue him destroying everyone in bar holding spring festival game and/or challenging high confidence mcs) superficial ("I didn't know people could argue so much about a prize" / he feels like he has to justify himself and tells Deja he has layers when confronted about his music tastes) or comes off as childish (quick to guilttrip if he likes mc enough, pouts) which are traits Se doms are likely to be labeled as. Misuse of Se might include relying too much on immediate feedback and / or external stimulation for satisfaction, being careless with decisions or relationships (which is what I'm working on for Elilo (Elio/Lorelei)) It can also mean having no focus or defined goals (lack / misuse of Ni) which lead to insecurity (which i could see being explored on the meager chance Elio is the breakup route and he goes back home)
I believe Ni (intuitive connections, reflection on meaning and implications, generating visions of the future...) grip in Elio shows up in how clingy he is, probably as a consequence of some form of paranoia (misuse of Ni) (Bottom stack functions tend to be used as defense mechanisms) (Ni grip might come off as the person acting out of character, in here, him being so suddenly hit by a lack of confidence, and needing to be reassured through that clinginess) The best guess I can do right now is he has issues around emotional permanence, but it's a shot in the dark. Well, at least Ni grip in Se doms can show up as looking for meaning and/or purpose but in the wrong places.
Elio is shown as someone that will avoid confrontation and is described as one who holds grievances. There's failure, I feel, from his part to resolve negative feelings which push him to suppress. It looks like a case of Fi failing him. Despite that he's mostly empathetic, sensitive and displays emotional intelligence (has signs of healthy Fi expression) (he's good at calming down a situation where tension arises, cue mc and percy not getting along - and immediatly vouching for him, or easing down the discussion if mc calls him and percy out for getting distracted in the study room event).
Tertiary Te (imposes order and is about efficient behavior, pushes to make effective decisions based on data) loop is what happens when there's Auxiliary Fi resistance. Because Fi is the need for moral integrity and self acceptance, immature ExFPs can use Te to distance from it. It can show up as burying negative feelings under coarse expressions of power (like Elio did in the breakup!percy comic I made), self-image problems or insecurity (which Elio display). The grievance thing makes me think Elio might show to be quite vindictive which is another sign of Te loop. I personally hc he's the possessive LI, which would align with the fact being territorial / domineering is a common unhealthy tertiary Te trait.
Funnily I think his reading of Reynah can both be read as an expression healthy Fi yet a Te loop tendency. It's both him understanding where people could not like her (getting her flaws, her shortcomings) but it's also him believing critical judgement to be objective. There's the expectation in what he says for Reynah to meet him on his ground (for her to talk) the way Deja does, when that's not necessarily how getting closer to Reynah has to go.
Next I'll make both Percy and Rhys' type analysis since they're both ISTP

FRIDAY 13TH | MBTI AND FEAR SPECIAL
🦇 Ni types - scary to other types due to 'uncanny valley' effect. Hard to read due to dominant introverted function
🦇 EXXJ tend to get 'addicted' to fear. Often a counterphobic 6 in the enneagram. Seek out things that scare them as a way of processing it
🦇 INxJ by far the most likely to accidentally go down the conspiracy rabbit hole. May end up scaring themselves or spiral into paranoia
🦇 INxJ also tend to have a complex and byzantine inner world that can seem dark and scary to some, especially when the subconscious is unintegrated
🦇 xSTP can appear 'fearless' and even appear like a psychopath/sociopath because of this, especially to F types. Yet in reality a healthy one tends to have unusual or unexpected fears that they may keep hidden due to fear of judgement
🦇 Inferior or tertiary Fe can struggle with comforting others when scared. May feel VERY awkward and not know what so say
🦇 xNTx can struggle when there is not enough to keep their brain occupied. Instead it can turn to random fears and worries. ENTP in particular can benefit from having a challenging enough life so they don't spiral into fear Therefore like xSTP types they can do well as an emergency responder or in similar jobs
🦇 INTP make AMAZING horror writers, tends to be classic visceral horror like stephen king. Meanwhile INTJ can make a great psychological horror/thriller writer. INFJ can do psychological horror AND tug at your heartstrings. They are also most likely to come up with the most original/fresh/warped/twisted takes where you then wonder 'how does your mind come up with that?'
🦇 xNFP most likely to be disturbed by content they see online, followed by INxJ, who are often more sensitive than they appear

KittyBella AU Beta Couple TieBreaker Poll
Thanks so much to everybody who voted in the first poll, but now we have a tie!
If you're new here and can't be bothered to read the first post, I'm developing a KittyBella AU where AdriNino replaces DJWifi as "earlygame couple with their shit together," but I intend for Zoe and Alya to get together and have an identity reveal much earlier, and generally be more functional than Adrienette. To balance the universe, we need a lategame disaster ship. This is the tiebreaker poll
Before you vote, do remember that while Chloe and Marinette will both be secondary characters (as opposed to Zoe and Alya being the main characters), Kagami will most likely be a tertiary character. The results of this poll may change that!
Also, keep in mind that Kagaminette's shipmate is most likely Chlobrina, while Chlonette's shipmate is most likely Lukabrina.
