I know the dark brotherhood is kinda edgy and sometimes silly but boy do I love it. I love the whole idea of this dark group that’s bonded together through the blood of innocence, and insanity. Also fuck everyone for making fun of Cicero he’s one of the truest members of the brotherhood for what he went through (along with Lucien Lachance obviously).

I hope my arthritis doesn’t kick in and im sent to the nursing home before tes 6 comes out, dude I want to see the dark brotherhood revamped so bad. I hope most of the members fucking survive this time though ;^;

Also I think the whole “The Night Mother is Mephala” thing is very interesting. I mean on one hand it’s kinda the same thing as the whole “Akatosh is Auri-El” debate. A god isn’t defined by its physical state but rather made up of different aspects of the same thing (in my opinion), so I wouldn’t be surprised if The Night Mother was apart of Mephala, after all she was a dunmer woman who after “hearing the voice of sithis” decided to lay with him and have his children, then send them to their Dread Father. It all could very well have been the Daedric Prince who is associated with murder, lies, deception, sex and secrets.

But with that being said, we know for a fact that the brotherhood for real goes to serve Sithis in the void after death because doesn’t Lucien Lachance actively say that? (I may be misremembering). So it very well could be that Mephala isn’t at play here, unless we’re taking into account that The Night Mother is only an aspect of her and still works under Sithis? Idk lol

okay. i Have to write down some of my cicero thoughts because if i don't, i think i will literally combust. i've gotten so invested in his backstory and characterization and i just. aughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

i love his journals. i know people either skim them or just find the one they need and leave the rest for later or never read them, but i cannot get over how clever an idea it was to reveal his story through journals (unless you also decided to read them and then got obsessed with him, hello). he's a deeply eloquent, well-spoken, and intelligent man whose loyalty to the brotherhood is unfailing. he survived not one, but two DBH sanctuaries being either destroyed or being the last survivor through circumstance, and by the end of the questline, if you spare him, that's three. it's quite literally the will of sithis that he lives, no matter what.

but you meet him in the game and he sounds… completely out of his mind. sheogorath's got teeth in his brain. but then you go back to his journals, and while the initial breakdowns are documented, when you read the latest entries, he's still intelligent and eloquent and cunning. how do we know what his mental state truly is? can even his written word be trusted? can his presentation as the absurd, mad jester be believed?

its late and my brain is tired but. in short, cicero skyrim you fascinate me endlessly. i want to study him in a lab. <3

Seems that Dark Brotherhood is well-respected here, and I like that. Soooo I rummaged through my old arts for TES ask where I took Night Mother under my care. Here's the answer to one of the questions to her.

The question was: "Why didn't you point out that Mathieu Bellamont was a traitor?"

I mean, expecting a deity to solve all your problems would be kinda immature, don't ya think? Especially if we look back at the Dark Brotherhood of Second Era who found those responsible for killing lots of assassins and yeeted them into the Void on their own, without expecting Night Mother to tell who was the bad guy :D

My long ass headcanon for The Dark Brotherhood

The Dark Brotherhood is actually being manipulated by The Night Mother

See they don't kill for Sithis but they think they do

Sithis is the embodiment of nothing it wants nothing as it cares not for the affairs of mortals because it is the nothing it is the void it doesn't care that there is an entire murder cult that kills in it's name because it wants nothing

The Night Mother isn't real she isn't the bride of Sithis she never had children from Sithis she never killed this kids for Sithis and she was never killed by townspeople hell she's not even a real corpse she only takes on the appearance of a mummified dunmer corpse

This is due to the fact that The Night Mother is actually Mephala

This to me seems like something Mephala would do being the daedric prince of deceit

Have a murder cult that kills for her but makes them think she is the dead bride of some unholy god of death when that unholy god of death isn't actually a god of death but a god of nothingness and they actually kill for her rather than Sithis

Now you may be wondering "well why does Mephala only speak to The Listener? And if Sithis doesn't care about anything related to mortals why does Lucien Lachance say Sithis doesn't want Cicero dead?" Well those who are The Listener mostly end up also being Mephala's champion so if she wants to appoint someone as Listener she would have to deem them worthy so that's why she only speaks to The Listener

As for Lachance it could go two different ways

Either Mephala is tricking Lachance and making him think he is in The Void and knows what Sithis wants when it is actually Mephala's realm of Oblivion and he is actually knowing what she wants instead of Sithis but he thinks it's Sithis OR Lachance's ghost could not actually be Lachance's ghost and be another one of Mephala's acts of deceit or could be one of Mephala's daedra disguised as Lachance

Now why does Mephala want Cicero alive? Because due to his obsession with the old ways of The Brotherhood it makes him more easy for Mephala to control unlike Astrid and the other members of The Brotherhood and once Astrid is dead it makes the other members of The Brotherhood easier to manipulate and carry out Mephala's willn

As for The Black Sacrament it's not a prayer/ritual to Sithis or The Night Mother but a ritual to Mephala

You may have also noticed I use it/its/itself pronouns for Sithis

This is because Sithis doesn't have a gender because it would be kinda odd if the god of nothing and The Void had a gender imo
