Originally opened in March 1999 and reimagined in December 2012, Epcot’s Test Track is set to debut its third iteration in July 2025 at Walt Disney World. With this update comes a new set of trash cans. The 2.0 version paid homage to the original World of Motion pavilion with a bold, cohesive blue design that felt intentional and thematic. Unfortunately, the 3.0 update feels like a step backward. The new grey and blue design lacks character and inspiration, with only minimal attraction branding to tie it to Test Track. The front and back panels are silver, while the sides and top are wrapped in a darker blue—oddly closer in tone to the World Celebration cans, despite Test Track being located in World Discovery. That inconsistency doesn’t help. A narrow horizontal band near the base features a sliver of the new Test Track branding, accented with yellow stripes. The recycling version includes a white icon, but that’s about it. The most frustrating part? Remove that small branding strip, and you’d have no idea what attraction these cans belong to. It’s generic, forgettable, and feels like minimal effort was made. Disappointing, especially for a marquee attraction refresh. // Walt Disney World, Epcot, World Discovery, Test Track, 2025 [Source: Laughing Place. Used by Permission.]

Extinct Disney Parks and Attractions tournament round 2: Group A

Reminder, you don't have had to experience any of the attractions/experiences to vote! Just read in the info and/or watch the vid, then vote for which you wish you would have experienced more/which sounds cooler!
Videos and propaganda/info dumping under cut
Maelstrom: Epcot (1988-2014)
Propaganda:
"This ride had everything. Troll animatronics. An off shores oil rig. A waterfall that they tricked you into thinking you were going to go over. Yes it was outdated but it made up for it in charm. Truly an experience the likes of which we’ll never see again in a Disney Park."
"Replaced by Frozen ride despite the culture being the point of epcot, was the highlight of my one trip there and had some super cool sadly retired animatronics"
youtube
Test Track 1.0 (original/GM version): Epcot (1998-2012)
Propaganda:
"Everytime I ride the modern Chevrolet version, I feel quite sad about all of the charm that was stripped away in the retheme. I absolutely loved the goofy commentary as you were taken through the testing facility. I especially miss the funky-smelling corrosion chamber."

Test Track
Feb. 19th, 2023
I was walking up to the attraction when suddenly my hands turned on bright and burning. I laughed because this is yet again the same attraction that has notoriously been wanting me to work on them and I just keep being unable to. Finally today I said I would try.
I warned the attraction that I wasn’t quite myself as I was on the tail end of a cold but they were desperate. They sent a Representative to help me in the form of an assistant. Unsure if it was the same one as before. They asked me if I could fill containers of energy in front of me so that they could then take them and place it where it was needed. I said yes.
When I was finished, the Main Entity stepped forward in front of the Representative and asked me to work on the animatronics. I was confused by this request as this particular attraction doesn’t have an animatronics. They explained they meant the vehicles that the guests ride in. I replied that the most I could do in my current state was to form the energy around myself and wear it like a backpack, then get into the car and ride the ride while directing the backpack to spill its contents out behind me to pour out on the track and let the other cars hit it. They liked this idea.
I began to form the energy around me. As I did so, I asked W if he could make sure to assist me on connecting the backpack to the car to make sure it worked properly. He said I didn’t need his help, which confused me. I realized later what he meant because when I sat in the car, another Representative approached to help instead. As the ride began, the backpack popped off and the energy flowed behind me. I encouraged the process with symbols throughout the duration of the ride.
When the ride was over, the Main Entity cheered and energetically hugged me. The impression was that I had finally done what they had been wanting all along. They looked forward to me coming back to do more work and asked how long it would be before I could return. I told it one week.

Disney Parks people can anyone explain what is so revolutionary about the new Test Track beyond it being vaguely educational and not being a bunch of Tron screens? Like it just seems like a bunch of blue sky car concepts with a super sterile corporate aesthetic. It doesn't look bad per se but nothing exceptional and nowhere near something like Horizons (which I feel did the blue sky future stuff so much better)

My thoughts on Test Track 3.0
Spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it yet btw! You have been warned.
For the first time in a while I am actually quite impressed with something WDW has put out! I had my doubts based on the concept art, but overall the ride looks pretty good. One thing I love about it is the scenery. The forest scene looks extremely well done and compared to its previous iterations I think 3.0 has done a good job filling the space. The entire ride feels like something classic which is great!
I'm pretty sure the cars are the same as 2.0, just with a paint job but they looked just fine so there was no reason to create a whole new vehicle. The new queue line is sort of the same, the addition of the new window is cool but I was hoping for a few more props to look at while you're waiting. Nothing beats the original line imo.
This new version has removed the feature of designing your own cars but did not bring back the preshow aspect at all. Although ill miss it I do admit the gimmick was a hassle and took entirely too much time. People also did not follow directions and would end up scanning their magic bands on someone else's station. The line should flow quicker now without it!
Another thing that has been removed are the small screens that were used in both 1.0 and 2.0. They were repurposed in 2.0 to show the leaderboard of cars in the vehicle but are not present in 3.0.
I love the new effects. They don't look cheap or rushed, which is what I was initially expecting. And the use of physical sets rather than all screens is so perfect.
I'm very happy to see a mural near the exit! It was a nice touch and made the attraction really feel like part of Epcot. Job well done!

Disney has finally opened the newest version of Test Track, and it actually looks amazing. I remember riding the original as a kid and then 2.0 probably once.
This 3.0 version reminds me of the ride Test Track, which took the place of World of Motion, which was an attraction about the invention of movement.
I won't be able to give a full review of the ride until later this year, so I won't be providing a detailed review at this time. But from what I can tell from social media and the ride through in this video, the Imagineers did a wonderful job opening up the queue space and took out the personalization section of the line, which was often the reason why it was so backed up. They also updated the safety video with its visuals.
The ride overall looks like it belongs in this current version of EPCOT that has been created since COVID. But it works.
Hey! If you listen closely, you can even hear a reference to the World of Motion.
