okay i've been thinking about it all day and my one real issue with the ending is the lack of like, a real conversation between Ryunosuke and Kazuma after everything. like, there was the stuff in the defendant's chamber, but everyone else was there and that was more about wrapping up the van Zieks plots. and then Kazuma gives Ryunosuke the sword. but. i don't know. the whole thing felt a bit unresolved and awkward to me.

TGAA 2 Spoilers

Everyone was cheating except Barok.

From left to right, the scene is depicted as follows. Sholmes and Mikotoba stand to the far left. Mikotoba points a finger at Sholmes with a scowl. Sholmes smiles innocently and leans back, holding up his hands defensively. His cards, 5 aces, fall to the floor. Mikotoba's left hand is reaching behind him to grab Kazuma by the ear. Kazuma has half-lunged toward Gina, pointing an accusatory finger at her. Both are arguing furiously with each other. Gina gestures to the metal trunk acting as a table, revealing her hand: a royal flush of spades. (Though you can only see the back of Kazuma's cards where he is holding them, he also played a royal flush of spades.) Next, Iris and Barok sit together on the couch. Iris puts a comforting hand on Barok's shoulder; he is slumped forward, head in his hands. Her hand was a royal flush of hearts. He had a pair of twos, a 3, a 5, & a 6. Lastly, Ryunosuke sits on a stool to the right, with Susato standing beside him. Both have a royal flush of diamonds and are fiercely debating each other over who was the cheater. (It was both of them.) Mikotoba's hand is a royal flush of clubs, shown atop the metal chest.

So, they're basically playing a game with one deck of cards where you draw 5 cards, maybe exchange a few with the leftover cards, and hope for a good poker hand. You get points depending on how good of a poker hand you have, and the winner is whoever has the most points after a set number of rounds. Except the unofficial rule is to cheat and get a better hand. If two (or more) people play the same card, they have to debate each other to try and prove the other was cheating. Otherwise, neither party gets any points that round. Hence, why Susato & Ryuu are arguing so fiercely and why Kazuma & Gina are about 5 seconds from starting a wrestling match like 5-year-olds. (Which won't end well for him because he may have a size/strength advantage, but Gina bites. Really hard.)

It started out as Ryunosuke asking Gina to teach him sleight-of-hand tricks to get back at Sholmes for cheating him in poker during the 7th escapade. Iris quickly got in on the fun, and the 3 tried to con Sholmes during the next poker game. He quickly realized what was going on, and cheating became an unofficial house rule during their poker matches. Once Susato returned, Gina taught her how to cheat and games got really intense. Once Mikotoba and Kazuma joined in on game nights, they switched from regular poker to a more casual, watered-down version where the point was to just get a good poker hand. While Mikotoba & Kazuma figured out about the cheating rule pretty quickly, no one told Barok that the point of the game was to cheat. Barok ends up winning this round by flipping over the remaining cards from the draw pile and finding a card from everyone's hand in there. They decide to switch to a less cheaty game after this.

before i had any sort of knowledge about tgaa/dgs (plus being fairly new to aa), i thought these two were the same people

yeah. i genuinely thought ryuunosuke and phoenix was the same person, that ryuunosuke was just highschool phoenix with a shitty haircut 😭

i also 100% believed tgaa was just about phoenix's escapades during his highschool time and how he went thru like, class trials

which then made me think. oh man, if thats phoenix, whos the handsome dude i always see him with from this game?? and the ppl that ship him with alot??

SO FIRST OFF. I WAS DISAPPOINTED

cus i was well aware this ship was popular (since i saw them in the what ship is this tweets alot) i was like, nooo i thought edgeworth and phoenix was The ship??? i thought they were the ONE. i thought they were the meant to be ship ???? PHOENIX HAS A DEEP PROFOUND RELATIONSHIP WITH ANOTHER MAN DURING HIS HIGHSCHOOL TIME THAT MADE THE FANDOM GO CRAZY FOR THEM TOO D: ? my worldview has tilted

anyways ... now that made me think. where did this bandana guy go? like we never saw him in the trilogy (i was only at the trilogy at this time) nor was he even mentioned.....

then i came to the conclusion.

and this convulated fantasy i made up in my head made me so sad for phoenix bc god he can never get with someone without losing them, he just can never get anything good in his life <\\\3

tldr my made up story for tgaa was that its just the misadventures of highschool phoenix with the new character kazuma as his close best friend as they go through class trials and shit in their school, which in the end the best friend died. yep
