Just quick update for everyone
I’m a few days away from turning in my final assignment and then being done with the fall semester!!! It’s a 15-20 page essay so I could get it done quick, but I’ll be damned if I don’t finish it well…. Honestly I’m loving the topic anyways and just reading a lot for it, which is taking a hot minute 😭😂
Anyways, Parallels (link here for anyone curious) will be the first thing I work on once I’ve returned and I’ve been thinking about it a lot. Like I’m a creature scratching at its enclosure and rabidly tearing everything apart that comes through… I have to many ideas for these final two chapter I nearly flew out of my skin
Like it’s just a silly dinluke codywan time travel fanfic but I’m feral and everything comes to mind— like epic fight scene? Yes please, give inspo my great muses!!! And Padme being smart af? While Anakin is lowkey a little behind because palps? Yes? Like more? More? Cody and Fox? Cody and Obi-Wan? Din and Luke? I need warm warmth warmth and more
And like, Din with the clones too has been so much fun to write that I’m tempted to just write out a chat fic for it hahaha
I wanna write Parallels so bad but I got write my essay first and it’s driving me up walls hahaha
Also like,,, the amount of AUs that have been pouring out my brain during this time is insane but like welcome. Like wow.
Like codywan Pompeii au? 👀
Or dinluke for that matter… honestly…
Or just like a Rex raising the Domino twins but make is super ass complicated addition
Like I have so many many many ideas and it’s driving me insane.
At least I can put that writing driving to good use for rn hahahaha 😭

Honest Trailers was right. DSMOM should've been titled Doctor Strange in One Alternate Universe That's Basically Just the Near Future.
"Witness a film that explores the limitless possibilities of the multiverse... for ONE. WHOLE. SCENE. Really? Can we go back to Paint World for a sec? No-- okay, no? Okay. Settle for the MCU's bogus journey across the multiverse, where the differences are all cosmetic, the characters barely change, and the plot devices are either literal convenience stores, or even main characters like America, who, just like her namesake, means well, but leaves a trail of destruction and fast food wherever she goes."
Okay, that video was hilarious but it's not a cape, it's a cloak! 😂
I'm still firm in the belief that Stephen does have an interesting arc in the movie but everything else is so weak. The multiverse is explored in one quick sequence that lasts less than a minute and the variants don't bring anything interesting or new to the table.
Marvel really got to ask themselves what's the point of variants and a multiverse at all if they're not willing to put the effort in.
The Loki series didn't give us anything, we only saw Pompeii and Alabama in a series that's supposedly about the multiverse. Then the movie that was promoted to us as the 'multiverse movie' has a total of one 40-second sequence of a bunch of CGI nonsense that are supposed to be other universes, the 838 universe that's not explored at all except for a couple jokes and a badly written memory + the Sanctum and the Illuminati facility.
That's it? That's all they can come up with? Then don't do it! All those things can be explored in the same universe they live in. They have so many opportunities to re-tell different stories, to change their characters.... but they keep doing the same over and over again.
It reminds me of the executives that ruined the Jurassic Park saga. When told they could do something different with the sequels they said they wanted the same because that's what got 'asses on seats'. Well, guess what, you ruined the last one big time.

I've just watched Pompeii (2014) by Paul W.S Anderson.
Let's say that I'm already forgetting everything. Apparently this movie was praised for its special effects but... well I guess it didn't age well (but some wide shots were really great).
The story just ends in a series of action scenes getting ridiculous. "De la surenchère" as I would say without being able to translate it 😂
Basically this movie suffers a lot of the basic problems in action cinema : too much special effects, action lasting for too long, everything done to glorify the characters to a laughable point, and some jump cuts in the middle of the action scenes.

Okay so I've been thinking about it, and I don't know why, but Bucky's treatment in FATWS bothers me a lot less than Loki's does in "Loki". I can see the issues with FATWS (and agree) but I can still mostly enjoy the show. But I can't stand to re-watch "Loki". I'm running out of room here, but I guess what I'm asking is, am I the only one who feels like that? Have you re-watched either of the shows? Do you think they're treated similarly but one is worse? Or is it just silly to compare? Ha.
You're definitely not the only one, dear anon! I feel more or less the same way.
I have the Loki episodes downloaded in my laptop and the only moments I go back to them is when I'm writing something here and I don't remember an exact quote or I have to check what the characters did because I have completely forgotten about it. I haven't re-watched the series and I never will, I only go back to the eps to hate on them here 😜😂
I have re-watched both WandaVision and TFATWS. The first because I loved it, it's definitely my favourite and I adore Wanda (oops, that's kind of a controversial thing to say nowadays!). As for the SamBucky show I'm like you, I can see the mistakes and the bad framing and I can disagree with certain things they do but Sam and Bucky are comfortable to watch. Their bickering is funny, both of them looking out for each other is nice to see, Bucky feeling at ease in Sarah's house and Sam fixing the boat with the help of his neighbours... it's all heartwarming.
I think the problem with the Loki series is that it's constant humiliation, be it physical, psychological or emotional. In TFATWS there are parts during the eps when they're not blaming Bucky nor kissing Walker's ass and they're allowing Sam to speak up (not much, I'm still mad they sidelined him in his own show) where you can forget about how badly they're treating the characters or how messed up the story is and you can just enjoy the moment.
I'd say in the Loki series we got one good scene in ep2 where he's being silly (I'm thinking the start of the ep where he's messing with Miss Minutes) but he's so out of character that it's hard to see him when you look at him: he's not wearing his suit, he doesn't get to use his magic, his way of speech is completely changed, his behaviour is way too theatrical and disproportionate (I'm thinking Pompeii)... it got to the point when fans started speculating if it was all a play and Loki was faking it because everything came out so out of line.
Whereas for Sam and Bucky they're more or less themselves in the show and they're far easier to watch. I don't know if I'm making any sense here but I hope I am 😅
