Hii everyone! I’m Blue, one of the two PunkStars™️ that uses this account. I use he/she/they pronouns and am femme presenting. I am also an African American/Soulaani ! So aside from Hobie content if you see anything that looks American, it’s because I am one 💀 (unfortunately).

Before I start my introduction I’d like to point out that this is our first time posting on tumblr in general, let alone writing. We mostly consume instead of producing content on tumblr so we’re learning as we go lol.

I’ll be doing most of the writing on this account to start off. You’ll know whenever I posted something because the title of the post will be in blue lettering or I’ll put my emoji “🕸️” at the end of the post. When using our “ask me” and addressing me directly you can just say so or write your message in purple so it’s easier for me to respond to.

I’ve been writing since I was quite young and so art of all kinds has always been a very strong passion for me, probably because I’m neurodivergent and it’s my special interest, so I like to mix art with my hyperfixations (this one being Hobie Brown). Hobie’s character is so special to me and when I first heard about him through tiktok I Instantly fell in love- not because of his looks (though he is fine as fuck 🌚) but because of his personality and how much I resonate with him so I cannot wait to start writing about him and interacting with the rest of the fandom ! <33

Like my partner ive also been doing art and writing for a long time (just more art), so when the ITSV/ATSV came out, like every other artist I was hooked. Seeing POC presented in different fashion aesthetics is a boost of mine so seeing Hobie Brown for the first time made me fold immedietely. I cannot wait for this acc to bloom and hopefully gain friends on this platform in the future. See you around 😋.

So I use private youtube playlists most of the time 'cause ublock origin blocks most of the ads and I've heard Shit abt spotify ahah but it does mean I can't easily share my playlists. I have a general writing playlist of songs that i can skip through/organised by Vibes (so the first half is bops and then sad angst and mean angst and then fighty songs and then fighty flirt songs and then flirty songs or whatever I feel like, and 'cause I know all the songs I know where to drop in,) and I'll try and identify what I wanna write through what I'm enjoying listening too sometimes, as well, which is fun.

A lot of the time I like finding other people's character playlists though, even if I'm not necessarily writing about that character - 'cause they all have Vibes people like?? Or I'll track down, like, song compilations. I use them for work, but it's great to have just, an hour long playlist that someone has made of Vibes like the rebel revelry.

Something is off about the ITSV post credits scene.

Where did Miguel go?

Now I know the immediate answer is: To the universe where he has a family, but I don't think that's the case anymore.

Let's look at that scene.

Miguel goes somewhere for less than two hours and Lyla tells him he's late. Lyla, presumably, watched the events of the movie happening and says the multiverse didn't collapse. Miguel asks if she finished the goober, Lyla calls it a gizmo, gives it to him and says he'll be the first person to make an autonomous multiverse jump. Miguel goes to Earth 67, does the Spiderman pointing meme and the scene ends.

Nothing wrong with it right?

Well, here's the thing. We assume that Miguel's gone to Gabriella's dimension, but take a look at that scene again.

Lyla says he'll be the first person to make an autonomous multiverse jump. So if he did go to Gabriella's dimension, he wasn't using a watch.

Well maybe he used the Go-Home Machine, right? No. The machine sends someone to their home universe, not to someone else's. With the exception of Miles, who got sent to Earth 42 cause that's where his spider is from.

Now, flash forward to Across. Miguel is explaining to Miles that he found a world where he had a family, and how he stepped in when the version of him was killed. But if we look at that scene right after viewing the ITSV post credits scene, a lot falls into question.

Since we all presume that when Miguel was gone for two hours, he's in Gabriella's dimension, how's he getting there?

The watches don't exist by that point, it's only after itsv do we see the first one. And he can't use the Go-Home Machine since it doesn't work that way, and presumably it doesn't exist. And there's no way Miguel is just throwing himself into a collider to get there.

So I'm not sure Miguel is really in that dimension when he was gone in ITSV. So that begs the question.

Jeez. I’m really sorry you feel that way, not being able to open yourself to a character/mythos you enjoy anymore for fear of inevitable disappointment.

If it helps, I really do think atsv will pleasantly surprise you. Everything the actual crew says about the movie puts emphasis on the conflict within Miles’ growth as a superhero and as a son. It’s really the mainstream internet audience that latch onto the memes and their spidey glup-shittos

I don't think it's a fear of disappointment per se because I've been pretty disappointed in the direction of Spider-Man comics for a while now lol. It's more that so many bad runs have been strung together now that even when new writers are brought in they inevitably pull from those bad characterizations. It becomes a cycle where I watch a character I no longer recognize become increasingly entrenched in the mythos with no realistic way back to the storytelling I love. So, I'm just tired. I'll always love Spider-Man. I'll always have things to say about him. And I'll always believe Peter Parker is the most complex, nuanced, and fully realized character ever put to page, but I don't think any new Spider-Man comics can truly be /for me/ anymore.

Re: atsv I'm sure the movie will be good! but it's hard for me to overlook the marketing which, no matter what the cast/crew has said, has leaned extremely gimmicky. But more than that, I am just not really interested in another multiverse storyline in lieu of a movie that could have been solely focused on Miles as The Spider-Man rather than one Spider-Man of many (even if he is the one to save the day in the end). I think that a movie centered around "Miles' growth as a superhero and as a son" could only be benefitted by a solo outing as well. And I can't help but point out how previous Spider-Man franchises have all focused solely on Peter (NWH notwithstanding) whereas Miles, with only two movies to his name, have both been multiverse-centric (ATSV even more so than the ITSV) which means no matter how you slice it Miles will receive less focus and screentime than he would have otherwise had as the only Spider-Man. And don't get me wrong, I think it was a great concept for ITSV to do what it did as a way of introducing audiences to a new Spider-Man while still bringing familiar aspects the public recognizes. But, I do not believe the same reasoning can or should be used for Miles' second installment; even if ATSV proves itself great and brings home another well-deserved Oscar.

Also, and this bit has nothing to do with the merits of the movie and is just me being a /super/ Spider-Man snob, but the main conflict of the movie, as presented in the trailer, being a "choice between saving one person [or] every world" sorry it's just not a compelling Spider-Man conflict to me when (1) most all established spider-people should be striving to do both with no room for compromise like.... that is literally the entire ResponsibilityTM deal and I don't know why we have to rehash this lesson again or that an entire multiverse cast of spider-people need Miles to remind them of it. and (2) ATSV lowkey feels so much like a Fantastic Four Council of Reeds-esque movie plot and I'm sick of seeing every single Marvel super-hero franchise cribbing from them lol

Okay, no, wait, I gave one more complaint about Peter B's characterization and how much a lot of it seems to be based more on pop culture memes about Peter being an incompetent loser (bordering on 'haha poor people are stupid and that's why they're poor' tbh) rather than anything to do with his actual flawed character, and that's the annoying restaurant bad investment joke in ITSV - like, first, where is Peter getting the capital for that kind of investment, that is not broke people money, and second, it reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of Parker luck and why Peter struggles financially, which is that he's already at a disadvantage to start and the impossibility of balancing the two sides of his life bc if you've actually read a comic, you would know that Peter can't keep money bc something interferes with his life, whether it's Aunt May needing help with the bills or he has to prioritize saving people as Spider-Man over his personal financial needs.

So yeah, to reduce that to a cheap and out of character joke where the punchline is that Peter made a really stupid investment on something with a high risk of failure and haha, that's why he's poor and a failure is like, obnoxiously annoying in retrospect, and ITSV only gets away with it bc it at least have Peter some serious heartfelt moments like with Aunt May, but yeah, I've really fallen out of love with Peter B as a supposedly good interpretation of 616!Peter tbh

okay wait. I watched Into the Spiderverse yesterday again and i have more thoughts. And questions. I have so many questions.

They really did plan a lot this form the beginning, huh?

The 42 was very obviously planted everywhere, even at the start of the movie, like damn, talk about holding it under our nose and us not seeing it lol. The theme of the movie was put right under our nose by that essay Miles had to write about expactations and who he wants to be. At the end of Itsv he found an answer for himself and that answer is bascially what he upholds in atsv when he's confronted with....well the Everything. It's also seen in the mural he draws which is a loopy silhouette of himself that's eerily smiliar to Spot (talk about creating your own threat lol)

(also for how long are ppl (in the movies i mean) going to blame Miles for things Fisk and Doc Oc did. They ripped the hole in the multiverse. They created the collider. Miles had literally nothing to do with that. Like. 'you ripped a hole in the multiverse'. no. The others did, they got the spider over here from 42 and they were the ones losing said spider. Miles literally had no doing in ANY of that. My boy was just trying to live his life and stumble trhough the lyrics of his fav song)

And given that they obviously planned so much aheard... Didn't Gwen already save her dad? Isn't the canon already disrupted?

In her flashback in itsv we already see in the shadow her punching Green Goblin and him turning into Peter. But she also said 'saved my dad' with the visual of pulling him out of a bullet's way. The 'canon' event so far has been 'a police officier close to Spidey getting crushed after saving a child'. So maybe that wasn't the canon event but isn't not being able to save the captain A Thing?

And in atsv Gwen's dad has quit. He's the captain she's closest to. So her world, her canon is already disrupted. Her universe isn't collapsing. Also as we have seen with the spidey people in itsv not everyone had an uncle die on them. It was their father (Peni), best friend (Gwen) and Uncle Ben(jamin) (Noir/Peter B.). And we've seen in atsv so many more Spidey ppl so who's to say there aren't more options about this? Who says that it has to be death? you're telling me in infinte possiblities there isn't one spiderman out there that avoided the whole death thing?

Also, in itsv Gwen was blown into last week. Meaning the displacement wasn't just world, but also time. Is that important? How did the Time Part play into the Space Time Collapse? Why is Gwen the only one so far we've seen being affected not only by Space but also by Time? Also what 'canon' event did Miguel interrupt for his universe to collapse? And what happened in Pav's world with the big blob that took out part of his world? Can it be contained? How? And if it can be contained, can that be used against Spot?
