12x01-02 Spyfall (Parts 1 & 2) - 28 responses
I mostly liked this one. Like a lot of recent action episodes, it felt kind of rushed, but I enjoyed the new Master and the Doctor's time travel shenanigans to save them from the plane crash. The villains were cool and pretty creepy at moments; I wouldn't mind learning more about them. (anonymous)
The Doctor in a James Bond movie is such a good idea I can't believe it hasn't been done before. Generally, these episodes were a lot of fun. I really liked the "O" reveal at the time because I didn't see it coming at all, and Sacha Dhawan nailed the role. I am still sad we never saw a 13 and Missy showdown, but he did a very, very good job. The historical parts of this episode were interesting, too, and I liked them quite a bit despite some of the, ah, missteps. The Doctor abandoning anyone in Nazi Germany- even the Master, especially the Master, and especially when he's looking like someone not white- is a vicious cruelty that didn't sit well with me. (vienna-salvatori on tumblr)
Very strong first episode with an excellent master reveal. Second episode was less strong with some...weird choices regarding 13 giving the master up to the nazis. (tumblr- @zanderbobs)
Literally FAV. (Part 1, at least) (And part 2 too right until the ending) (capribornio on tumblr)
I loved the Master reveal. It's all such a heartbreaking *mess* for her. (r4151n67h3d34d on Tumblr)
"" (haven't seen recently enough) (dakekintraining on tumblr)
Very, very good. Still delighted by all the moving parts in this story and how they came together. (nvzblgrrl on tumblr)
sacha’s performance/ dhawan!master is easily the best/ most enjoyable part of this story. the morally dubious choices of the doctor are awful this episode. and honestly the plot of the second part falls apart, I get very confused by that episode. (anonymous)
Saw this in theaters. So good in theaters surrounded by other fans too bad the pandemic wrecked future events like that, maybe someday in the future they shall return. (anonymous)
As I’ve said, I don’t like the Master at all. The Australian outback setting is bizarre. They should’ve cast Australians to play the Australians thanks very much. (anonymous)
Hated the wwii segment with a passion (do not use in further work)
Loved the Master reveal. Lenny Henry's character did not really need to be in here, however, and it was unclear what happened to him at the end. Felt like more conversation needed to be had about the mind-wipes. The Doctor's racist moment was also terrible. (anonymous)
Very childish, very basic. Consists of caricatures instead of characters. With the exception of Dhawan!Master - he makes it up with his charisma. And Master is a drama queen :) (anonymous)
don't like the fact they made the master a nazi 🤮🤮 (anonymous)
The Master reveal at the end of part 1 <3 (GoldenDruid76)
1st part ok, the master reveal is shit, 2nd part is really bad and also the doctor does an accidental racism oooops (anonymous)
The Master reveal was very cool. Hate the Nazi stuff. (anonymous)
The moment Chibnall essentially gave up writing. The fact this story is two hours long while having about as much substance as a 10-minute minisode is absolutely mortifying. (anonymous)
Nazi Doctor bad (anonymous)
1st part was crazy!!!! 2nd part not as good bc it had some questionable things but still fire. I love Ada Lovelace. The Master was so good (Hanna Martin)
man these eps are FUN though. I love "O", his and the Doctor's dynamic is so fun, especially on rewatches where you can see the signs of the Master.... i feel like after the reveal he kind of becomes less interesting though and more run of the mill Angry Master which is dissapointing. the kneel scene is so them but i get why it makes people uncomfortable. its a bit odd that the whole thing with graham/ryan/yaz being on the run is sort of... forgotten after these eps. the bit where she turns the nazis against the master is crazy i really dont get what they were thinking with that... using your enemy against your enemy is i SUPPOSE a move the doctor uses??? this one at least?? but its just feels so gross here (pitynostars on tumblr)
The Master reveal was brilliantly done! And getting interesting new monsters from other dimension that aren't easy to beat is always good (Malpkakaka)
Hard to describe. Too much going on. I liked some but definitely not all of it. (galileosballs)
Part 1 gave me all the hope I lost. Might not stand up against other episodes in general, but was one of the best chibnall ones. Part 2 I liked less. Not such a fan of the mad Master though the were good moments. Really hate him wearing Nazi stuff and her turning him over. Generally a less interesting episode. (Credit RoA or rekhyt-of-arcadia.)
Great opening part, but fell short a little in the second part. (Headcanonsandmore)
oh wow its the master !!!! (walkingnightmare on tumblr)
Very fun and entertaining. Phenomenal score once again. Hello? Thirteen in that suit doing spy shenanigans? Can't go wrong. Part 1 was stronger though. (anonymous)
such fun. dont love the kassavin or whatever they're called nor do i care for braxton but still. one of the best of the era i think (snowglobegays on tumblr)

{ATEEZ Yunho FF} Love Yourself (pt 1)
~Rating: Teen~ ~Yunho x fem.reader~ ~This is fictional~
Trigger warnings: Suicidal themes, self hate, and anything else that might be related
P.S. Sorry for grammatical errors/spelling mistakes ^^;
Tumblr media
“You’re useless.”
“You never did do anything right.”
Words echo in your mind as you stand on the edge of the bridge that spans over Han River.
“Your older brother did so well; why are you always failing?”
Tears stung your eyes as you watched the water splash under you.
“You’re a burden. You’d be better dead.”
You take in a deep breath, hands tightening around the rail before releasing.
“We never did love you.”
That sentence repeats as the cold water engulfs you.
They said you’d be better off dead, so why not do something right.... right?
You could feel your lungs tightening. Less oxygen, more water. Black takes over. You feel yourself fading, and the last thing you’re aware of is a loud splash.
~
You woke up to the beeping and sterile smell of a hospital room.
I’m not dead?
You groan as you sit up, your head throbbing at the effort. A nurse with a clipboard finally notices the movement and looks at you.
“Oh, you’re awake!” she says. “I’ll go get the doctor.”
You blinked. Why were you here? You tried to take your life, so why aren’t you dead?
The more you thought about it, the more frustrated you were. Hot tears threatened to spill.
The door sliding open stopped you from crying though. Blinking away the tears, you looked up at the doctor.
“Glad to see you’re awake,” he said. He did his typical checking to make sure everything was fine with you. After he determined you were okay, he sat down at a desk and typed notes into a computer.
“Why am I here?” you ask, staring down at your hands.
The doctor glances at you. “You were rushed to the E.R.”
“But why?”
The doctor turns to fully face you. “You were unconscious and on the verge of death. You almost drowned.”
You glare at him, tears welling up again. “Because I wanted to! I jumped into that river with the intention of dying! I didn’t want to be saved!!” you shout, tears finally sliding down your cheeks.
The doctor gave you a sad look. “What happened to you?”
You froze.
He didn’t need to know. He’s a stranger, he doesn’t need to know about your private life. Anger flared up inside of you.
“That’s none of your business!”
He sighed, nodding in acknowledgement. “That’s fair.”
Surprised, you just blink at him. You couldn’t think of a retort. Instead, a question managed to wiggle its way into your mind.
“Who... who saved me?”
The doctor thinks about it for a bit. “Not sure; he rushed you here, soaking wet, but I don’t remember his name.”
The nurse interjected. She had been standing on the side, watching you yell at her boss. “I think his name was.. Jeong Yunho?”
“Oh, that’s right!” the doctor exclaims. “Jeong Yunho. He was the one that brought you here.”
Jeong Yunho.
That name rang in your mind.
“How old was he?”
“Not sure; I’d guess around your age,” the doctor said in a contemplative voice.
You hum to yourself. Maybe you can find this “Jeong Yunho” and give him a piece of your mind for interfering with your personal life.
Another question that you’d rather not know the answer to also made its way into your mind and out of your mouth.
“Does my family know I’m here?”
The doctor nods. “Yeah, we contacted them. No one’s come to visit though. Do they live far away?”
You clench the hospital beds’ sheets. “No, they live in Seoul.”
The doctor just goes “ah” and goes back to the computer.
Tired from the rush of emotions, you lay back down. Before you know it, you’re asleep.
~
You awake to a low murmur of familiar but not comforting voices. You internally sigh as you open your eyes to see your parents standing at the foot of the bed.
Your mom notices your glare first.
“Well, I see you took our advice,” she says bitterly.
You roll your eyes. “Yes, your advice to die.”
Your dad grits his teeth. “And yet another thing you failed at doing.”
It hurt.
The words hurt so much.
“I tried,” you whisper.
“Obviously, not hard enough!” your dad yells.
You want to cry, shout, scream... anything to show your storm of emotions.
Instead, you just mutter a question.
“Why do you hate me?”
Your parents scoff before exchanging a look between them.
“Maybe it’s because you’re more of a burden than anything else,” your mom sharply states.
My dad cuts in. “Everything we’ve tried to get you to like, you don’t. You wanted to become an idol, even though you can’t sing or dance.”
You bite your lip to prevent you from screaming at your tormentors.
Your mom was about to continue the barrage of insults when the sliding door flung open. The doctor came in, a stern look on his face.
“Time to get out,” he said while looking at my parents.
They looked furious at the interruption, but the doctor pointed to the door. “Out,” he commanded.
Your parents huffed and gave me one last glare before storming out of the room.
The doctor gave you an apologetic smile. “Sorry; they demanded to see you and since you were asleep, I figured it would be okay. I didn’t think you’d wake up so fast though.”
You wipe the tears out of your eyes. “It’s fine,” you mutter. You glance at the doc. “More checkups?”
The doctor smiles. “Actually, no. You remember that Yunho that saved you?”
You nod, wondering where he was going with this.
“He’s here, waiting out in the hall,” the doctor informed you.
Your eyes widen. He was here? Why?
“Why is he here?” you decide to ask.
The doctor gives you a teasing smile. “You’ll just have to find out yourself.”
He leaves the room, and you can hear his muffled voice talk to someone. Another male voice responds before a boy you don’t recognize steps into the room.
“Are you the infamous Jeong Yunho?” you ask warily.
He nods. “Yeah, I guess.” He pauses a moment. “How are you doing?”
You glower at him. “Still feeling like shit. Maybe I’d feel better if someone had let me die.”
Yunho’s eyes flash an emotion, but you’re not sure what it was.
Instead of prying into why you jumped, he pulls up a chair and sits next to the bed. You raise an eyebrow.
He ponders something for a second before speaking. “Well, I’m Jeong Yunho. What’s your name?”
You squint at him. What’s he trying to do?
Reluctantly, you reply. “Y/N.”
He smiles at the information. “That’s a pretty name.”
“Thanks... I guess?” you mutter. You had to be visibly confused by now.
Yunho thinks for another second. “What’s your favorite color?”
“Um... (your fav color)?”
“Ahh, that’s a beautiful color,” Yunho replies back.
You furrow your brows. Okay, this was weird.
“Why are you asking me these things?” you ask.
Yunho’s eyes widen. “Why not? I’m just trying to get to know you.”
“Why?”
Yunho tilts his head, a questioning look on his face. “Am I not allowed to be your friend?”
A friend? All the friends I had were people my parents forced me to meet, but they took me out places. Sure, they used me to carry around bags of clothes, or they tried making me do things I didn’t want to, but aren’t those “friends”?
Noticing the obvious confusion on your face, Yunho blinks. “What are your friends like?” he asks, catching on quickly.
“Well, they make me run their errands. They said the more I do, the more I’ll be respected by them. They also try to get me to drink with them sometimes, which they said will also make me more fun...” you trail off as you notice the dark look in Yunho’s eyes.
The boy sighs.
“I’m sorry, Y/N. Those aren’t friends,” he said apologetically. You blink a couple times. He continues since you’re too confused and shocked to say anything. “A true friend won’t force you to do things if you’re uncomfortable with it. A true friend will help carry your burdens instead of forcing theirs onto you. A true friend will defend you. A true friend will love you.”
Love?
No one ever loved you. You knew your friends weren’t really... nice, but they weren’t friends at all? Did your parents lie to you? It wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility though...
Dubious, you narrow your eyes at Yunho. “And how am I supposed to just trust you? You were this weird stranger that saved me, took me to a hospital, and visited them just because you want to be friends?”
Yunho sighs. “I don’t expect you to trust me or believe me yet, but if you give me time, I’ll make you realize just how valuable you are.”
“What?” A mixture of emotions swirled in the pit of your stomach. “I’m not..- I’m a failure. How can I be valuable...?”
Anger finally won out.
“You’re lying! You’re trying to manipulate me!” You shout at the poor boy.
He sighs, sadness clearly on his features, but you’re too angry to notice and/or care. He stands up. “Just think about the things I’ve said,” he said in a hushed voice.
“Get out!!!” you yell louder.
Yunho flinches, but he leaves the room. You lay down, your back facing the door.
After about 20 minutes, you hear the door open again.
“Y/N?” You recognized the doctor’s voice. “I have a note for you. I’m going to leave it on the end table. Read it whenever you want to,” he said in a quiet voice.
You let out a sound of acknowledgement, but not turning around to look at him.
A few hours pass, but you can’t sleep, so you decide to check out the note.
“Y/N, I know you don’t trust me. I don’t blame you. But just give me one chance to prove you wrong. My number is (XXX-XXX-XXXX) so text me, and I’ll take you for a day out. I’ll show you what fun really is. You don’t need to trust me fully, but give me the tiniest bit of your trust, and I can save you.
Sincerely,
Yunho”
“I can save you”.
Tears streamed down your face. You weren’t even aware you were crying until you saw a drop of water land on the note.
“Yunho... there’s no saving me, so why...? Why are you trying?”

Chapter 30 - A New Beginning
Mitsuki's life had fallen to a slow, enjoyable routine in no more than a few weeks. After the first two passed, he was allowed back on missions, simple D and a couple of C ones of course, but at least they gave him something to do. Boring or not, they were his air and fuel for now. But he was growing restless, almost giddy... he wanted, needed to do more. Of course, mission-wise, this was all he was allowed for, they had been pretty strict about that. But Mitsuki had made his mind up on something else. He knew he was ready to begin his training with Sakura-san. He hadn't consulted with anyone in the house - mainly because he was afraid of their reactions - it couldn't be that everyone could be as understanding as Izumi-san, trying to protect him with their good intentions. No, he was going to talk to Sakura-san himself, and try to man up for her rejection, if it came to that. At least he wouldn't live in continuing uncertainty. So that was how Mitsuki found himself taking the known route to the hospital that day. The anxiety, no matter what he told himself over and over, was bubbling inside his chest, making it harder for him to concentrate. To distract himself, he instead began paying attention to the other changes in him.
The most noticeable thing - on the outside anyway - was his outfit. Of course, Hinata-san had his kimono fixed, but it was August and very hot in Konoha. He wouldn't have minded it very much himself, if it was not for his friends trading to lighter clothes, even for missions, and it began to become just a little awkward being near them in his usual kimono. So instead, Hinata-san had made him another top, one with lighter material and sleeves that can be folded to make it short-sleeved (he wasn't exactly comfortable with the sleeveless models). In his daily life, he started using the short sleeves. Still, he was sweating. No matter how much of a prep talk he had been giving himself, the thought of rejection, even if it wasn't permanent... still made him nervous. Before he realized it, though... he was already in front of the hospital. The boy stopped for a minute to take a deep breath before walking in. He came to know and became friends with almost all of the staff by now. Everyone he passed by took a second to greet him, some even stopping long enough for a chat. It wasn't until he ran into another pivotal figure in his treatment that Mitsuki's nerves reached their peak, though. "Oh, hi there Mitsuki," Ino-san, Inojin's mother and his lead psychiatrist gave him a big, warm smile. "I hope everything is good? I didn't know your appointment was today..." "It isn't," the boy clarified. "I just wanted to talk to Sakura-san..." "Oh," Ino's brows furrowed in concentration. "Well she's not in her room... a new patient has been brought in just a few minutes ago." Mitsuki's heart race accelerated, but through pure and unbound curiosity now. "Can I see?" Ino looked dubious, watching him uncertainly. "I don't know Mitsuki, honestly... this is a delicate situation. Why don't you just go to her office and I'll see to it?" And so the boy had no choice but do what he'd been told, sitting precariously in one of the comfy chairs in front of the desk in Sakura-san's office, fidgeting as more time passed. He had the feeling that it was indeed a pretty serious situation to keep the pink-haired medic this long... And when Sakura finally entered the room, her face was indeed drawn and very serious looking. The woman didn't even notice him at first, which was definitely new. She actually did a double take when she turned around and saw him. "Oh, Mitsuki..." she said, baffled, and then turned around to look at the calendar hanging on the wall behind her desk. "Was your control today...?" "No, no it wasn't," Mitsuki said quickly. "I just came because I wanted to talk to you about something." "Oh... okay, I mean good," the medic said, finally settling at her desk and gulping down a glass of water. A little more collected now, she glanced over at him. "How can I help you?" Mitsuki took in a deep breath, trying to calm himself. Thoughts like it's now or never were really not helping... He decided to just blurt it out, without giving it a second thought. "I want to start my medic training as soon as possible. I don't want to delay it any longer." A pregnant silence followed his declaration. Sakura was watching him carefully, her eyes not betraying any emotion or decision. Another minute passed before she sighed and got up on her feet. "Follow me." Confused but curious, Mitsuki got up himself. This wasn't what he was expecting, only instant refusal or a reluctant and conditional acceptation. They walked past a greater number of nurses and medics as they walked to their destination, and the boy couldn't help but wonder why there was such a crowding today. Was there an emergency? A chill ran down his spine. Sakura-san led the way to a room labeled ER. They didn't go in, just standing outside the glass panels to peek in. The bed in the room was obviously occupied, although Mitsuki couldn't really see who was on it. He thought at first that it was because of the number of medics around it, but then some of them moved aside and he saw the reason why. The occupant of the bed was so tiny... a baby... The boy didn't know what to say as he watched the activity in the room with slightly widened eyes, trying to imagine what could it be that brought a baby this small to the ER... He heard Sakura-san sigh beside him. "He was brought just a little while ago, before you came," she said, her voice a little weary... and sad. "We don't know what he's suffering from yet... only that his name is Hikaru." The boy gulped. "He is so... small..." "Barely five months old," the pink haired medic sighed again as she turned back to him, the look in her eyes now a little hardened. "I brought you here Mitsuki... because I wanted to show you just one of the tiny aspects of the life you want to choose." He didn't know what to say for a moment. "You wouldn't know what you will be facing any given day, and not each one of it will be pretty. You will face many challenges, and you will be forced to grow and adapt very rapidly. On that matter, I won't make things easy for you. This will be quite a long and demanding road for training... do you believe you're ready for this?" When she put it that way... the commitment he was about to make suddenly sounded larger than life. Mitsuki imagined being one of the medics in the room right now, or the leading medic... Having been handed the duty to save the precious life of an infant... lives hanging on the balance of every word from his mouth... every action by his hand... Was he ready? But then he looked up in Sakura-san's eyes and saw something beyond the weariness and sadness. The determination... and the fierce desire to save lives, to never give up... This determination had been the reason he could see his family and friends one more time... Was he really terrified, facing the one thing that he owed his life to? Mitsuki felt the same determination fill in his eyes as he came to a decision, a determination he hoped he was conveying strongly enough. "Yes." he said in a clear, unperturbed voice. "I am ready. I want to work hard to preserve the human life, to use that part of my knowledge for the general good." A warm and sincere smile appeared on Sakura's face and she put a hand on Mitsuki's shoulder. "Well then... take tomorrow off and I will be ready for you the day after." ... The boy was feeling like a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders as he walked out of the hospital. He came to a halt as his eyes landed on a small, budding flower, and he got closer to take a look. He had spent enough time in and out of the Yamanaka flower shop with Himawari to get to learn about the variety of the flower species. He knew this particular one, the morning glory, because it was actually one of his favorites. Mitsuki gave a soft smile as he turned back, taking this little budding morning glory as a positive sign for his hopes for the future...
