chonny jash/cccc fandom PLEASE rb + share how you got into chonny jash i wanna know!! thru his covers, animation, a recommendation or somethin else?! can be a super long or short explanation, im so curious as to how we all ended up here lol
i'll go first(kinda lengthy so its under a readmore)^-^
I had a whole miracle musical/tally hall phase in the summer of 2022, was obsessed with The Mind Electric, and i made a yt playlist w like 50+ versions. fastforward a year later, in the middle of 2023, i found a crazy 12 minute cover by this weirdo named Chonny Jash(what kinda name was that??) and gave it a try and holy shit my mind was blown, the three songs were easily the best covers i'd ever heard and i fucking loved them so much
at first i was just a fan of those three songs, but slowly thru the end of last year but surely i started listening to his other covers, like Hidden in the Sand, Variations on a Cloud, Ruler of Everything, The Bidding, and The Whole World and You, in that order(they all have a soft spot in my heart cus of it). I realized thru The Bidding that the songs were actually all connected so on the last day of 2023 i gave the whole album a try and fucking loved it, both song and lore-wise and from then on I was a huge fan. i've since listened to a lot more of his music tho not everything yet
it's kinda crazy that I've only been super into it not even for that long, but my journey def started like almost a year ago now lmao. you could say i fell very slowly into a hole i couldn't s

hi! ive listened to some of chonny jash's songs but did not realize that there was really a story? Or i vaguely knew but didn't have the time/energy to get into it and with the release of the bidding animation ive realized theres like a bajillion awesome animations and art and i want to get into cccc but have no clue how. also why does soul have a trident.
OH man!
The story of CCCC has an overall seeming narrative, but much of it's smaller points are interpretive due to Jash himself leaving it up to fans of the album. But! Overall it kind of goes like:
-Jash or, what most people call Whole, splits as due to mental dissonance and waning mental health. (Time Machine Reprise).
- Whole fades into Soul (End of TMR into Dream) and from there its Mucka Blucka as a sort of introductory song. The recap for a story you have or haven't heard yet.
- (The entire album is a time loop! Which is a big metaphor for the cycles of mental health and illness people go through.)
- From there its the section called "Cacophony" which starts off with Soul, but eventually it turns to Heart and Mind + their fighting and inability to see or listen to one another or their points of view. Of course, as Logic and Emotion, they both have valid ideas or opinions, but believe themselves so contradictory that the other must be evil or out to get them.
- Heart attempts to shoot Mind, as referred to in Ruler of Everything. Literal or Metaphorical as you take this, it is seemingly symbolic for an attempt at one's own life if not self sabotage. If not then both.
- The rest up until Soul Eclectic is sort of just the Mind and Heart fighting and their own personal views each on the situation.
- Soul in The Soul Eclectic reaches his breaking point. Threatening to kill them all (A more direct attempt at suicide)
- Mind and Heart in the subsequent songs decide to get their shit together.
- (Two Wuv) Soul realizes that not only can they be happier now but that trying to force themselves to conform to society's ideas of mental health or belief or love is just plainly unbeneficial. Sort of a song about unapologetically being yourself.
- Welcome To Tally Hall is a tribute to Tally Hall themselves more than anything.
- This transfers into Concord soon after! Concord is Whole or Jash by himself, though many of the songs seem to carry themes from Cacophony in them. Self sabotage, disagreement, importance placed on the wrong thing, the idea that no one person is better off than another. It concludes with Taken for a Ride. Which is also sort of CJ's epic "im burnt out as hell" song towards the end. But exaggerated to my knowledge for lyrical shenanigans.
That is CCCC as neutrally told as best as possible. I highly recommend forming your own ideas on it, but I'd be happy to also discuss more in depth my opinion on each song should you or anyone else express interest!
Getting into the Trident: The fandom took the metaphor of "Tridential Sovreignty" and "This trident he formed (found? Lyrics.) is both weapon and motive" and said "Soul's got a trident" to which Jash responded with "Absolutely yes he does now" Same with the crown most people put Mind in, and that is referenced in the "Trident, Crown and Blindfold" line.
Soul really did get noose imagery, a trident and a mask. All Heart n Mind got were a blindfold and crown. Lmao
Though Heart is also commonly drawn with wings. Which is semi-canonical according to album covers. I choose to ignore them because I don't particularly have an attachment to the idea!
Getting into the fandom itself, I can recommend looking around for the Chonny Jash Fan Server (CJFS) Discord link. But it can be extremely intimidating and even I just stick to discussion and one other thread channel. (Sides from my au channels which pop up every once a month or so).
Important note is that only Tally Hall covers have to do with HMS. Any of Jash's other music (of which I highly recommend, always) is unrelated. There is also a fan QnA somewhere that was done like a year ago now which has some neat answers in it.
I, again, am happy to go into my interpretations of HMS and the music as a whole but skdmsm saved you the reading hopefully should that be undesired!

Hello people
I did a silly thing i'll explain a bit better later (1 am jumpscare)
But these are my ocs that I originally based off the HMS concept, but eventually they developed from that and became their own species and have their own lives and names and stuff and it's very goofy??
Originally these goober were generally sonas I made of myself to animate to Biggerirng when I was sad a lot but then I redesigned them when I listened to Chonny Jash's cover of the bidding and said "yo this is actually fire?? Why do I relate to this so much?" (Seriously why) and thus my HMS sonas were born, though they are no longer my sonas nor entirely made for a single song for me to do my silly "AAA" thing.
They are now a species that I've made called "Souls". Souls are usually born with a heart or a mind, (which aren't supposed to be sentient, but there's a reason for that i swear). Souls need their Hearts and Minds to function, and should they get those ripped out of them, then once the Mind and or Heart is removed and far enough away from them, the idiots seize to have anything but feral thoughts as they twist into unrecognizable creatures. Why do their silly special attributes get snatched? Why, you punched Bethany in the face in high school, and you were dumb enough to duel her back.
Duels. They are something people do when they're pissed. You aren't legally allowed to do it without another Soul's consent, or you face legal punishments. If you snatched a Soul's Heart or Mind but they get it back and keep it with them (in a metal that I haven't named yet to prevent sentient-ness), the soul will not become a "lost soul".
And regarding the sentient thing, Hearts and Minds, if not placed in a place made of sparklemetal (name still being workshopped) will humanize in a sense and become sentient. Interestingly enough, if they stay nearby their Soul, then that Soul won't become a lost soul either, but it's now inconvenient that your Heart/Mind has legs that it knows how to use.
Most Soul's are born with a single thing, either a Heart or a Mind, and they usually don't have two. Clover just previously had both as a standalone character and I just kinda spiced them up and then they were no longer an HMS persona, and thus gained their own personality and attributes. I'll explain Clover later.

TWIGGY. DESIGNATED CCCC MUTUAL. whats the story of cccc <- literally cannot understand it for the life of it . it seems so so so interesting but alas i Cannot understand it :-(
i remember when i was asking ppl for cccc lore too
there’s probably <ref>more subtext</ref> everywhere and lore and such idk but there is a basic plot most ppl have agreed on
loop begins again (time machine reprise & dream, mucka blucka is the introductory song)
heart shoots at mind in RoE (ruler of everything), misses, is blinded (as a punishment for trying to kill mind) (can be interpreted to be done by either mind or soul but most ppl say soul did it bc of a lyric in either light or night, i forgor which one, which goes “tines stabbed through eyes, that the sides have condemned)
he ‘goes to’ apathy (quotes are because apathy can be interpreted as a literal place that he GOES TO, like soul put him in the pit or something, there are a lot of mentions of a pit like in tme “and he falls inside the hole he dug for me”, anyway apathy can just be him literally being apathetic whatever) and gives off control to mind
soul threatens to kill them all in the soul eclectic bc he is TIRED of their bs
the bidding is where they argue but they synchronize at the end -> light is them making up
we’re gonna win, variations on a cloud, the whole world and you are basically them talking abt how it is nice to not argue all the time and transition out of cacophony
the concord songs are basically covers that the character whole would make (if you are a whole believer)
and then the loop begins again
notes:
whole doesn’t have to be like a character? technically the album wasn’t written as like ‘these three are characters’ it was ‘these three are representations of this one guy’s parts and his internal dissonance’ so like. they are all just one guy. and whole isn’t really a separate character. but we have made whole a guy who is separate to the rest (even though hms like. unionize to be him idk). but that’s optional whole doesn’t have to exist
the loop can be interpreted as a timeloop but it can also be just a metaphorical loop to refer to how mental health issues are cyclical (how am i the only cccc as a metaphor for addiction fan)
also cccc has a DISCORD which chonny jash is in, Chonny Jash Fan Server i believe it’s called, and i’m pretty sure most of the aus are there or something >:(
anyway that is like basic plot you can probably analyze these songs for like. days but i don’t have the brainpower to do that so i will just languish not knowing the Absolute Truth that Totally Exists
idk what else 2 say

what IS chonny jash
SO. chonny jash is an australian musician who is most notable for his album chonny's charming chaos compendium!
it's a tally hall (and other related solo works and projects) cover album, that's also a concept album through the fact he changes the lyrics to weave more of a story
my top 3 (6 but shhhh) recs are these, flashing lights warning for all of them
mucka blucka! HE TOOK THE FUCKING CHICKEN NOISES SONG AND ADDED LYRICS! and goddamn is it good, this is my top favorite on the album as a whole
youtube
have you ever listened to the mind electric and thought "damn i wish i had more of this"? worry no longer. there are three of them (fan made video for the sake of lyrics onscreen)
youtube
and the bidding! really interesting take on the song and how drastically different yet still the same as the original!
youtube
however recently, like last month recently, he also did 5 will wood covers! imo laplace's angel is the best of them (i am a little biased against two of them because one makes me cry and the other is a bonafide "will wood complains about his fans" song)
youtube
and as a bonus, here's an original song that's about being a gnc man!

please explain to me what the deal is with chonny jash i am fascinated
oh my friend you have olled away the rock the tomb has been unsealed,
Chonny's Charming Chaos Compendium is a cover album of Tally Hall songs, in the same way Everything Everywhere All At Once is about a woman trying to do her taxes. the full thing is available on youtube and spotify. even solely superficially, it's super interesting, because it's not like, karaoke over the song's musical track, it's like. Redone. new sounds. same song, same tune, but still completely reupholstered. if you like jhariah or will wood, this is like tally hall if you seasoned it to make it sound like them.
HOWEVER.
the instrumentals are NOT the only thing that changed-- he also REWRITES THE LYRICS. he's a VERY clever lyricist, even if hes still definitely drawing from the original. but in doing so he's creating an underlying story, and in tying it all together it starts becoming clear.
CCCC is about Chonny Jash, the artist in question, going through such a bad mental health episode that he manages to split his brain in three. be aware, it's not explicitly anything-- it could be about plurality, it could be about depersonalization, or it could just be a metaphor about self conflict. but the bottom line is, where there was once one there is now THREE, and none of them want to be here.
the bulk of the album is the three of them singing and songwriting and arguing with each other. Mind Electric is the left brain, the logical side, and the only one with a distinctive voice-- he has a distinctly robotic, modulated voice. he also talks like a disney villain.
his counterpart is Heart Acoustic! the right brain, the emotional side, and the most visually distinctive of the three-- he's the chap with the blindfold and the wings and he's a bit of a miserable mess. if mind is the voice in your head who berates you for not getting things done, heart is the voice in your head panicking about the long term impact.
that being said: neither of them are inherenty the Good Guy or the Bad Guy. they are equals, and they cannot lives without each other, and they are constantly committing war crimes. the first thiiiird? of the album is the two of them bitching and bitching and bitching and
number three is my favorite and he shows up in like the last half of the album: the Soul Eclectic. you can't really argue if Heart or Mind are id or superego, but Soul is unquestionably the ego in the triad. he moderates and also keeps Heart and Mind from killing each other. and plays guitar. he's skrunkly
that being said. it is about a depressive episode. all three of them kind of want to die. Soul is absolutely not opposed to it. they have explicitly discussed this. i cannot emphasize enough, the entire album is about an absolute mental low, and that's kind of what keeps it interesting. the three of them are one person at his absolute worst, and they are so filled with loathing for the Others that is really just kind of... loathing of the self. take all of that on top of the fact they are in a time loop.
the three of them are trapped in an infinite cycle of dissolution and reconstitution. they will always eventually synthesize and make it out of the misery pit only to fall back apart into the same patterns and arguments and PEOPLE. they cant catch a break man!!!!!!
i have SEVERE autism about it and so does my girlboybestie @julystruck. the full album is here, but if you're just trying to lean into it, i fully recommend the whole twelve minutes of The Mind Electric along with the lyrics analysis to get a grip on the characters, and then Mucka Blucka and The Bidding for basic dynamics. and feel free to ask me about literally anything and giving me an excuse to write an essay when i COULD be writing an essay about the progressive era,
