Okay first of all, big fan of your work. Love your prose and strive to achieve writing as fluid as yours. Loved Before the Sun Rises and Workings of a Human Specimen.
Anyways, I just got done reading Structure of Blood and wanted to ask: What makes Shishimatsu cry, resulting in everyone getting sent to the crib? Is it because he can't handle the Creovorce's experiments?
AAAAA THAN YOU SO MUCH QVQ I'm so flattered hhhhhh
As far as Anti Ichi goes, he's a sensitive little muffin. He cries over lots of things - sometimes when he's hungry, sometimes when he's lonely, and sometimes for seemingly no reason - though that's likely from the torment and abuse (and yeah, the experiments and tests) they received at the lab (the abuse being more psychological than physical). One could argue he's the most in-tune with his emotions than any of the six, and - besides when he's bullied relentlessly for it - he doesn't really have a problem allowing himself to shed a tear.
Thank you for sending the ask!!

Jyushimatsu have you met the serial killers clones of you and your brothers? Kuchimatsu is a rarely spoken killer of you and want to kill Ichimatsu's clones even Todomatsu's clone Toramatsu

{Having Jyushi say that about you is kind of an accomplishment} @sidefire3

I'm sorry if you've already gotten a question like this, but after looking at your The Structure of Blood AU lore, I was wondering if there's any way for the Anti versions of the brothers to become good/model citizens? Don't get me wrong, I know the originals aren't exactly role models lol, but overall they are good people with good hearts deep down due to having parents who ultimately love and support them, so if all of the Antis ended up living with their original versions would the same thing occur? In short, if you think about the nature vs nurture argument for why people are the way they are, if Matsuyo and Matsuzo took the Antis in, treated them like their own children, were patient and kind with them, taught them how to be good, etc., is there any chance the Antis could reform into better people?
Again sorry for the long ask/if this has been asked already, I just really love this AU :)
Also, I loved the picture you posted recently :3 Keep up the good work!
I believe that the nature vs. nurture concept can apply here, but only to a point - never in its entirety. It's difficult because the antis aren't creatures born of woman. Their aggressive behavior was never built from environmental factors in their upbringing - rather, the proteins making up their genetic core were directly altered and manipulated by the hands of the scientist. In other words, biologically speaking, their genes have artificially deviated from that of a typical Homo Sapien and as such they experience urges we can't understand.
Human instincts are interesting. Humans are social creatures, so they have the inexplicable urge to communicate and socialize with others in some way, shape, or form. It's in our nature and we don't even think twice about it. But beyond that, the behavior to reproduce is so deeply rooted in our biological code that there isn't a single living organism that exists without it. Even down to a cellular level, a simple virus exists only to fulfil this instinct. It's born, it reproduces, and then it dies. And that's it. Reproduction is at the core of everything. Organisms continue to adapt and mutate further to find the most efficient means of reproduction, even going as far as to develop instincts or abilities to aid in protecting their offspring after birth (so, most animals).
But in the case of the antis, their deeply-rooted human instincts to nurture and reproduce were deactivated and rewired with the itch to destroy. Being born into bodies of the only animal blessed with awareness and an intellect matched by no other on Earth, the antis are still in control of their day-to-day behaviors. But their instinct still exists, and they're powerful. They are hard to ignore or deny, especially when paired with the lack of cultural bias and perspective humans have developed universally. In other words, for an anti to even think about taking a step towards pacifism, there would have to be a desire to change his perspective and instincts. And in this, there just isn't any.
Regarding the antis' future while holding such powerful instincts, the Creovorce makes a good note on it. “Should one of them be denied an external outlet for his destructive behavior, that destruction will turn inward in desperate attempt for successful innate activity.” In other words, if the antis are deprived from a way to channel their instincts for too long, they'll go insane and ultimately kill themselves. This phenomenon actually occurs in the original story for The Structure of Blood.
That being said, I do believe there are different ways the antis might be able to channel their aggression without killing other people. I think one's sanity might just be able to stay under the radar if he worked as a butcher, for instance. I'm still considering all the possibilities, though.
In their current situation, Anti Kara (and occasionally the others) are living in the Matsuno household (or, at least, we pretend that that's the case so the good times never end on my blog). Karamatsu isn't at the point where he understands that Anti Kara might need a different outlet, and instead continues to work to nurture him in hopes he has the ability to make the decision to disregard his nature. Meanwhile Anti Kara is still sane and learns from Karamatsu and the others every day.
But at the end of the day, he and the others are nothing more than ticking time bombs.

What are examples of Shishimatsu being too sensible, or flaws that forced him and the others to go back and be fixed ? I want to know more about him
