tuesday again 5/30/2023
all you can see is my hand over the back of the couch as i give a limp wrist flick of acknowledgement and point you toward the post ↓
listening
Smooth Jazz by GUPPY, a selfdescribed comedic punk band that makes secular guitar music with bedroom-pop overtones. said to myself out loud on my walk "this sounds gay" and whaddya know they are.
I’m listening to smooth jazz In the parking lot outside of Joann’s Fabrics & Crafts And I’m feeling like a dumb spazz Because my mind is moving way too fast
i have had this exact experience at multiple joanns. the last bit of the song has been on loop in my head since uhh thursday when i was catching up with my spot/ify weekly recommended list. the tired, slightly ironic last-number-in-the-musical performance is really doing it for me
Jazz, baby! That’s just jazz, baby That’s just jazz That’s just jazz, baby In my brain, baby So give me a lobotomy

reading
raymond chandler's the long goodbye.
Tumblr media
this book destroyed me. there is some BREATHTAKING racism even for 1953. it's one of the cruelest things ive ever read. it's a sucking chest wound of a book. i'm going to think about it for the rest of my life.
i'm not able to talk about chandler novels objectively.
i am partially grieving the incredibly fucked up shit that happens to marlowe in this book (i have no fucking clue how you even go on after that, but he does) and partially grieving that this is the last full novel and there aren't any more. i know the unfinished poodle springs was finished after chandler's death but! i do not care.

watching
One-Eyed Jacks (1961, dir. Brando). widely available for free, pluto had the nicest copy but ads that weren't blockable. this is a film where the production is as much of a story as the actual film.
Tumblr media
i don't actually know if i enjoyed this film or had a good time watching it. i don't know that i ever need to see it more than once.
it is artistically distinct, and i genuinely mean that as a compliment. it is a rare western-that-doesn’t-have-to-be-a-western, and such a weird artifact of a particular guy's career in a particular time.
surprisingly, this is a pretty okay western to watch if you happen to be a woman. katy jurado and pina pellicier are acting their GODDAMN hearts out. despite itself, the movie paints a very good portrait of a mother-daughter relationship and some goodass parenting. women make mistakes and don't die about it. nobody gets raped!!! the absolute lowest bar a western can possibly have. as a quick sidebar, it's not that i think movies should never address rape, it's that westerns always address it in a way that makes my stomach turn.
it is a slow-burning revenge that mostly takes place on a beach, but it also takes you in great uneven hurtling lurches toward its finale. it wants to have things to say about lies, revenge, and storytelling but cannot help but give itself a certain kind of ending. it can only push so far. it is fascinatingly earnest, horny, and earnest about being horny.

playing
Tumblr media
grim fandango remastered (2015, originally 1998) by double fine. the EPIC tale of CRIME and CORRUPTION in the LAND OF THE DEAD!!! critically acclaimed, what we would now call Mexican Gothic i think, but billed itself as a Aztec-inspired noir.
technical details: i am not totally impressed by this remaster bc it still looks pretty fucking janky in parts (things clipping through other things, heavily pixelated stuff despite being on the highest quality settings, etc)
why i bounced off: i did not play video games growing up, and have not played many point-and-click games. despite this i do like walking simulators (the modern successor to point-and-click) and visual novels. i think bc i do not have the point-and-click background and am not playing this through nostalgia-tinted glasses for 1998, four years after i was born, the way the design team of this game expect the general population to solve problems and the way i personally solve problems are severely mismatched. i have spent about ten hours playing this game (in four acts) getting to about halfway through the third act, and i would say about half that time has been looking for/at guides or making up lost progress bc i didn't save. this is a tremendously frustrating way to spend free time.
Tumblr media
what i did love: however, it does Look. i ADORE this tile and want it in my home. in a cutscene in this little automat there are not one not two not three but FOUR reflective surfaces. they're not real-time, of course, but i did say "what the FUCK" out loud. it's also hysterically fucking funny! many short sharp barks of laughter! i am greatly amused at how a game about skeletons invented permadeath! both the writing and the voice performances are so fucking top notch. i understand why this is a beloved classic and im glad a remastered edition exists in the world, but i do not anticipate finishing this game bc i don't get a lot of joy out of having to closely follow a guide to progress.
how i found this: it was free on GOG several years ago, i wanted to play something this weekend that was compatible with lying down on the couch and used a maximum of one finger for the controls.
-
making
i cannot show any of the extremely doxxable embroidery samples that will zhuzh up this cardigan for a work event in mid-june, but i can show how i tacked the buttonband down. this is somewhat indifferent stitch spacing but it stays down and is invisible at a distance from the right side, and that's what matters. gotta de-pill this also but that's a bit boring for a tuesdaypost

Are we trying to rewrite history a bit? No one is saying that Tom was a nobody, but in terms of popularity and stability, Z was more ahead than Tom when they met. She already had her own house and was already well known even internationally due to Disney. Z was more on TV than in movies. Spiderman even put a lot of the promo on Zendaya also, I wonder why... We have people asking Tom to take pictures with them and noon cause they had no clue who he was for God sake . I don't know in the UK, but before spiderman, no I am sorry to put Z on the same level as Tom is a plain lie, she already had Disney movies, 2 Disney shows, music videos, her music album, even had her barbie doll already by then. Now with all of that for you to say Tom was a bigger star or was on the same level as z cause she had 2 lines in Hoco? Let's be real here please.
Nobody is saying that Z wasn't super popular and a huge Disney success and following before she met Tom.
My only point was that by the time they met on set for HOCO, fell in love, and started dating, they were already pretty much on equal footing/ground career-wise. Maybe not pop-culturally-wise, but film-wise imo, Tom was already lightyears ahead of Z. Tom was already cast as Spider-Man by the time he and Z met. He was playing LEAD. He had already been filmed as Spider-Man in "Captain America: Civil War".
Tom had already worked with critically-acclaimed directors like Ron Howard for "In the Heart of the Sea".
He had already filmed movies like "Pilgrimage", "The Lost City of Z", and "The Impossible". He had already worked with actors like Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts, Robert Downey Jr, Don Cheadle, etc.
Z was JUST getting her start in films with Spider-Man's Homecoming movie where she made her big-screen debut. She def had popularity (which is why they used her a lot for promo), but she was still getting her foot in the door with major motion pictures on the big screen.
Zendaya is a Jacqueline of All Trades, so she's dabbled in a lot of stuff over the years. I'm actually kind of glad she quit the music business career thing (during that time at least) because it seemed like it wasn't the right move for her, and it seems like her contract screwed her over. :(
Overall.... I guess my point is, by the time they met, Tom was already in the MCU, so he was already guaranteed to be making a TON of money, and also on his way to becoming HUUUUUGE (which, he did become after SM HOCO came out).
To me that's a BIG difference from the Aunessa rlshp....and that was basically my only point. 🤷🏾‍♀️
My earlier post wasn't intended to be a competition btwn T vs Z..... It was actually just to point out the stark difference btwn where Austin was career-wise compared to Vanessa while he was dating her.

To my dear house-of-lovin:
I have a series of questions about Legally Binding bear with me, this is all merely speculation and possibly too much all at once so I apologize in advance.
Cherry-pick from this ask if you have to!ᵕ̈
How young was R when she’d been forced to start acting and singing?
I read somewhere on your page that you answered early teens! And you referenced Zendaya so I’m assuming she got her big break at possibly 14 and before that moderately small acting gigs?
R definitely seems to have a passion for music but how often does she get to produce?
She also seems like the type to make music more for herself than to share with the public given her history, I think not only something she really enjoys but uses as an outlet to cope with things.
Can you give us a few songs as reference to what music R’s produced?
I’m interested in listening to them from R’s POV! Personally, I thought of Never Felt So Alone by Labrinyth. I have no fucking clue at all what song R’s creating right now and I’m assuming since it’s for Coachella it has to be upbeat but might I suggest thinking about Good News by Mac Miller. Pfft or even The Spins by Mac Miller, fun, cocky and memorable like R.
Is there someone else in particular besides her family that made her start to think of everything she does in public from a ‘business standpoint’?
What character in the MCU does R play?
For me the first character that came to mind is possibly someone from the Spider-Verse! I mean why not bend some truths and pretend there’s one Spider-Verse comic that fits R’s description? I think it would align with the fact that R’s been an actor since her teen years and by now if a few movies have been released; her Spider-Verse character has got to be aligned with her age!
Hmm so I’ve read through someone else’s asks and you mentioned not having enough time to look up tv shows and movies aligning with R’s age. I was thinking for some of them, why not just have R’s character in said projects be someone that doesn’t necessarily exist in the current adaptation but is popular anyways?
For other fandoms you say? Is what you wrote still lurking on those platforms I’m curious! Your daydreaming keeps us supporters taken care of.
What kinda music do you play/listen to? I listen to just about everything under the sun except Heavy Metal, too much shouting and I’m already losing my hearing as is lmao.
(I love to trespass abandoned building/areas, for the first date just run when I do and we’ll be good but that’s at night, can and do you like swimming? If you say yes then during the day we’re exploring open waters/pretty nature on a jet ski (safe waters dw)
Am I possibly also picking the first activity to be be held? Ahem HEARSAY you can’t prove that)
Cordially,
Specter
I think yes early teens like 13 or 14 possibly. I think somewhere in my head Justin Bieber was lowkey a reference for R's character.
R gets her big break as a teen and does roles for smaller movies that gain her critical acclaim until major studios recognize her. (Sorry to Hailee but maybe Edge of Seventeen as one of those movies LOL) Before def small roles. (Idk what good movies have a 13 or 14 year old soooo)
I don't have a list of songs for R but with all the asks its def building. I'd love to hear what you guys think? But like I answered before, I see slow & modern R&B. Like SZA (cussing songs LOL), Frank Ocean, Omar Apollo, Yebba. BUT OMG I LOVE MAC.
I feel like with R's family background & starting so young it made her grow up faster than most. So I think over the years, she's just built a wall around herself around people in the industry giving her that 'business standpoint' mentality. I mean come on, there's no way she's had a whole career w/out getting burned by someone. It happens more often than ppl think.
I think her MCU role is def a spider-verse role too! Maybe there's a version of her a Spider-Gwen in the MCU movies LOL IDK.
There's a fic or two on AO3 for a totally unrelated fandom but its a couple years old so idk its kinda cringe LOL. (I also have a Kate Bishop unfinished series that I've just never posted LOL)
I play the guitar so I listen to a whole variety of genres! I like/am open to most music except heavy metal too lol. But I love R&B, Soul, Jazz, Rap. I like older music too so I listen to a lot of 50s, 60s and 70s. EVERYTHING. I WANT TO LISTEN TO EVERY SONG EVER MADE LOL. (but same my hearing is shit lol)
I CAN swin (somewhat) I just can't tread water (ik ik disgraceful) but jet ski you say👀
(I'm indecisive af so I need ppl to plan things for me LOL)
ENJOYED ANSWERING THIS <3

'Is actor Andrew Scott being profiled for being too gay?
Two recent news reports suggest this may be the case. In the first, the reason why he was snubbed by the Oscars and BAFTAs for his performance in "All of Us Strangers" was expressed by writer/director Russell T. Davies ("It's a Sin," the original "Queer as Folk").
Scott, the Irish actor who came out in 2013, broke into the mainstream in 2019 with his ongoing role as the hunky priest on the second season of "Fleabag." When "All of Us Strangers" was released in December, many thought Scott was shoe-in for Best Actor nominations from the Academy Awards and the BAFTAs, especially after receiving a Golden Globe nod.
Was Andrew Scott Just Playing His Gay Self?
Davies claims the reason why Scott was snubbed is that "when a gay man plays a gay man, he's not considered to be acting..." Adding, "I genuinely think that happened there, that people thought, 'Oh, it's very good, but he's not acting there. He's not reaching; he was just being himself.'"
He also said Scott's turn in the movie was "a world-class performance [that] was massively underrated because he's gay and very publicly and visibly gay."
Davies was speaking at National Student Pride on Saturday (24 February), on a panel on queer representation in media moderated by Attitude editor-in-chief Cliff Joannou...
"I very publicly and loudly proclaim that gay actors should play gay roles," he further pointed out, adding, "What I'm trying to do is shift it slightly so that more queer people are seen for queer roles"
Davies was joined on the panel by "It's a Sin" actor Nathaniel Curtis, "Everything Now" star Noah Thomas, "Shadow and Bone "actor Jack Wolfe and "Heartstopper" actress Bel Priestley.
Was Scott Gay-Baited by BBC Reporter?
The BBC sort-of apologized for an apparent gaffe by their reporter Colin Paterson when speaking with out actor Andrew Scott on the Red Carpet for the BAFTA Awards on February 18, reports The Independent.
"The red carpet interview in question quickly went viral as viewers criticized the BBC's Colin Paterson for repeatedly asking Scott about Barry Keoghan's nude scene in Emerald Fennell's film, 'Saltburn'," the British newspaper writes.
Scott was at the event to present an award, as well as to support the nominated film "All of Us Strangers," which had been nominated for six awards, including Outstanding British Film, Best Casting, Best Director and Screenplay (Andrew Haigh), Best Supporting Actress (Claire Foy), and Best Supporting Actor (Paul Mescal).
Missing amongst the nominees was Scott, who plays a lonely British gay man who revisits his childhood home to find his parents, long dead, alive and younger than he is. At the same time he begins a relationship with a man in his building (Mescal).
While the film holds a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, none of its nominees won at the BAFTAS, nor did the film receive any Oscar nominations.
Much of the criticism of Paterson came with his focusing on a controversial scene in "Saltburn," Emerald Fennell's dark, satiric comedy that was also up for a number of BAFTAs, in questioning Scott.
"Instead of asking about the critically acclaimed queer drama, Paterson opted to focus on asking Scott his thoughts on Keoghan's penis," writes The Hollywood Reporter. "In the now-viral clip, the correspondent said, 'Do you know Barry well?' Scott, who seemingly didn't know the direction that the conversation was heading in, beamed, 'Yes! I know Barry, yeah!"'
Paterson continued: "OK, your reaction when you first saw the naked dance scene at the end of 'Saltburn?'" Scott responded with uncomfortable laugh: "It's great, it's great. I won't spoil it for anybody." Not picking up the clues from Scott, Patterson battered on: "There was a lot of talk about prosthetics. How well do you know him?"
Smiling, Scott waved Paterson off and walked away. "Too much?" Patterson asked.
On Saturday, six days after the report went viral with much criticism of Paterson, the BBC published the following comment:
"Our reporter began by asking Andrew Scott about the film he'd appeared in – "All of Us Strangers" – which was nominated for six Baftas. He then moved on to ask about the popularity of Irish actors where Barry Keoghan, star of 'Saltburn,' was mentioned.
"'Saltburn' is a film which has had cultural impact, with Barry Keoghan's scene at the end gaining a lot of attention in particular – something the actor has addressed himself. Our question to Andrew Scott was meant to be a light hearted reflection of the discussion around the scene and was not intended to cause offense. 'Saltburn' writer and director, Emerald Fennell, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, whose song 'Murder on the Dancefloor' was used in the sequence, were also asked about the scene.
"We do, however, accept that the specific question asked to Andrew Scott was misjudged. After speaking with Andrew on the carpet, our reporter acknowledged on air that his questioning may have gone too far and that he was sorry if this was the case."'

So some WB animation & CN staffers are trying to unionize now. No clue whether this means anything for Chicken Dentures, but at this point I'm waaay more hopeful about that & other Texan 'pay us already' animation developments than this hashtagnewvolumelaborwhatlabor? sewage. Lately fndm/rwde wank seems to get very lost in the weeds of in-show character crit, but the former clique's nonresponse to so many disclosures remains fucking awful.
I'm hoping it means that the animators, writers, voice actors, and everyone involved in the show gets decent pay. I get why fans want to see the show continue. For a lot of people, this is how they met online friends, made connections with other artists or writers, and found a community where they belong. But I think that that community can survive even if the show gets delayed like hell.
If fans can keep shouting at Sony to delay Beyond the Spider-Verse so that the animators, writers, VAs, etc. can be paid properly and have the time they need to make a good movie, then so can the fans of RWBY. The main issue is that greenlighting the show is very much out of their hands, so while Spider-Verse is pretty much greenlit, RWBY isn't, so fans need to show enough support to prove that there is enough demand for the show in order for it to continue.
Fans can wait a few years for RWBY so that the animation is good, the writing is good, and so that the people working on it aren't worked to death. And while I'm somewhat curious as to what the show will bring us (good and bad), there needs to be an understanding that a good story is one that takes time.
Legend of Korra once had a filler episode just so they could keep their animators and other such personal on the show, I don't see why RT can't have some delays to make sure their show would be of both quality, and of humane production.
I admittedly, haven't been around the rwde/crtq tag as much lately, so I don't know what's going on. And that's mainly because I've come to the conclusion that any flaw in RWBY is also a flaw in other shows. Say what you want about Emerald, at least they didn't take a doll off the corpse of a girl and send it as a halfhearted idea of a gift to a family member while giving another family member something that was actually had thought put into it, like Iroh. Say what you want about Ilia, at least she didn't hire an assassin to go after the main heroes because she was unsure of her place in the place that rejected her, like Zuko. Say what you want about Ruby, at least she didn't claim to be a non-killing pacifist while also burying people in an avalanche, like Aang did.- Basically, any flaw within RWBY is also a flaw within other shows that are also critically acclaimed, like AtLA.
The main point I'm trying to make here is that the story does deserve to be told. It does deserve to have its ending. But that shouldn't come at the expense of animators, writers, voice actors, or anyone really. If RT can't make the show in a humane way, then they should hand it off to a company that will. If that means they go down, well… They brought that on themselves. And maybe if these guys can get unionized, the show can be made without the expense of people around them. And I'd like to think that the show itself would improve if it were made humanely.
So while I have no idea what the future will hold, I'm hoping that it'll be at least somewhat better than what we have right now. If we fail to make the world better for the next generation, then we've failed as a generation. And the same can be said about previous generations. And future generations too.

Right, so, about to start off this horror blog by shitting on some of the most beloved and acclaimed modern horror movies... Because I am a smart person.
So something I should state right off the bat for this blog is I'm a huge proponent of the Slasher genre because unlike a lot of genres of horror I feel like it's the one that does the best job both sharing some sort of message while still being entertaining and, another thing you should know about me, I think it's a good movie's job to entertain. Entertaining an audience is a good idea because A: They may actually stick around long enough to digest the thematic elements of your movie and B: Good movies can tell a message and entertain, the two are not mutually exclusive.
Take for example what I think is the best and my favourite horror movie, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's an hour and a half long and it's a non-stop fucking roller-coaster and I got the message of the movie the first time watching.
Compare that to my least favourite horror film, Suspiria 2018. That movie is an entire hour longer and after finally slogging through it I had absolutely zero clue what I just watched. I'm not ignorant to feminist theory which, like... I think (?) was what that movie was going for, but even without the fact that that movie put me to sleep even upon critical analysing I still didn't get it. And yeah, call me a big gay dumb dumb with a pumpkin for a face but the fact is that movies CAN convey their message without having to be picked apart and analysed, if they're not up their own ass.
And there we see the advantage of the Slasher, the genre that is unashamed of what makes it unique and has retroactively benefitted over time for its earnesty.

Top 10 Must-See Mystery Thrillers That Will Keep You Guessing
Tumblr media
Mystery thriller movies have always been a popular genre among moviegoers. The combination of suspense, intrigue, and unexpected plot twists keeps audiences on the edge of their seats until the very end. Whether it's a murder mystery, a psychological thriller, or a conspiracy theory, these movies leave us guessing until the final reveal. In this article, we will delve deeper into the world of mystery thrillers and recommend the top movies in this genre. Mystery thriller movies often involve a protagonist who must unravel a complex web of clues to solve a mystery. The audience is also encouraged to play detective along with the protagonist and try to piece together the clues to solve the mystery. The best mystery thrillers keep the audience guessing until the very end and often feature unexpected plot twists that leave us reeling. One of the greatest examples of this genre is the classic movie, "Psycho" (1960). Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, the movie follows a woman who checks into a motel run by a disturbed young man. What follows is a suspenseful and horrifying tale that has become a landmark in cinema history. Creator: Knut Koivisto  Another great example of the mystery thriller genre is "Se7en" (1995). Directed by David Fincher, the movie follows two detectives as they hunt down a serial killer who bases his murders on the seven deadly sins. The movie's climax is one of the most shocking in movie history, and the twist ending is still talked about to this day. Other notable movies in this genre include "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991), "Gone Girl" (2014), and "Shutter Island" (2010). But as the club grows, things take a sinister turn. - "The Prestige" (2006) - Directed by Christopher Nolan, this movie follows two magicians as they compete to create the ultimate illusion. But their rivalry turns deadly, and the movie's twist ending will leave you stunned. - "Zodiac" (2007) - Directed by David Fincher, the movie follows the hunt for the notorious Zodiac Killer who terrorized San Francisco in the 1960s and 1970s. - "Prisoners" (2013) - Directed by Denis Villeneuve, this movie follows a man who takes matters into his own hands when his daughter goes missing. But as he digs deeper into the mystery, he uncovers dark secrets that threaten to destroy him. - "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" (2011) - Directed by David Fincher, this movie follows a journalist and a computer hacker. Se7en In addition to those classics, there are also some newer mystery thrillers that have become instant favorites among moviegoers. One such film is "Gone Girl" (2014), based on the novel by Gillian Flynn. This movie tells the story of a man whose wife goes missing and he becomes the prime suspect in her disappearance. With twists and turns that keep the audience guessing until the very end, "Gone Girl" is a must-see for fans of the genre. Another recent film that has garnered critical acclaim and a large following is "Knives Out" (2019), directed by Rian Johnson. Ever-Changing Disney & Pixar Slates From 2008 to about 2016...
I'll have this here for reference as well...
Preface: DreamWorks' next film is something we know next to nothing about, and the only films on their slate are a TROLLS threequel and KUNG FU PANDA 4. A movie called MEET THE GILLMANS, per a few reports and other clues, is supposed to open before TROLLS BAND TOGETHER does... The rest of DreamWorks' slate is sparse, despite the studio reportedly having a big plan in place... So why the skittishness to say what's coming out?
I think I know why...
Anything can happen with an animated movie... Even if it's *this* close to completion. The animated adaptation of Nate Stevenson's NIMONA got shut down - alongside the studio it was being made at, Blue Sky - in February 2021 despite being 75% complete, but luckily it was revived at another studio (Annapurna) and will be completed and released this year. Henry Selick's THE SHADOW KING was maybe halfway done when Disney pulled the plug on it in mid-2012. DreamWorks halted in-production movies like ME AND MY SHADOW (shadows have bad luck in animation picture business, don't they?) and LARRIKINS. Disney threw out a 2D/CG picture with a lot of working titles, one of which was A FEW GOOD GHOSTS, despite the amount of work done on it.
The list is even longer, so I wanted to re-chronicle a weird history of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar on here... In an age where long-term slates being laid down is commonplace.
We'll start at April of 2008...
I remember seeing this slate back in the day and thinking, "Wow, this is massive." This predated Marvel releasing gargantuan half-decade plans for interconnected movies... This was a long-term plan spanning four years from both Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar. This was a little after The Walt Disney Company's historic acquisition of Pixar in early 2006, and the subsequent installation of Pixar stalwarts John Lasseter and Ed Catmull as heads of a revitalized WDAS. Perhaps after the release of MEET THE ROBINSONS and RATATOUILLE in 2007, there was a newfound confidence in both studios.
WDAS had gone through a rough period in the early 2000s, where films either lost money due to various circumstances (THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE) or didn't get great critical reception (BROTHER BEAR)... Sometimes both. (ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE, HOME ON THE RANGE) MEET THE ROBINSONS got mixed-to-positive reception at best, and did flop at the box office. The film had cost around $100m to make, and failed to double that worldwide. It was indeed dumped by the marketing department and heads, for it was perceived as more of a band-aid ripping than the first in a line of new-fangled WDAS movies sure to win back the critical acclaim and box office glory they once possessed in the early '90s. No, that distinction would go to BOLT, as it's often pointed to as the first of the "Revival" features, or at least the first of the Lasseter/Catmull pictures.
Anyways, that same year, RATATOUILLE became another Pixar blockbuster and seemed to prove that that Emeryville studio really could do no wrong. People doubted many of their films, each new Pixar movie seemed like their first flop. Michael Eisner infamously predicted FINDING NEMO would be a flop when he had seen a rough cut of the film around a year before its eventual release and subsequent record-breaking run at the box office. By the time you got to RATATOUILLE, people jeered that this movie starring a rat (gross! disgusting!) that wants to cook would be their first dud... But it wasn't, it defied the odds and it took home the Oscar on top of that.
So you could imagine that Disney was quite confident in their animation slate going forward, from both Pixar and WDAS... And so, they laid out a slate, in addition to the films already on the release boards... (Pixar highlighted in blue, WDAS in green)
WALL-E - 6/27/2008
BOLT - 11/26/2008
UP - 5/29/2009
THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG - Christmas 2009
TOY STORY 3 - 6/18/2010
RAPUNZEL - Christmas 2010
NEWT - Summer 2011
THE BEAR AND THE BOW - Christmas 2011
CARS 2 - Summer 2012
KING OF THE ELVES - Christmas 2012
Wow... Back in 2008, that seemed like *a lot* of movies... And Pixar releasing *two films* in a calendar year? What is this sorcery??
For anyone not entirely in the loop here, THE BEAR AND THE BOW is the movie that eventually got re-named to BRAVE. KING OF THE ELVES was to be an adaptation of the Phillip K. Dick story, from BROTHER BEAR directors Aaron Blaise and the late Robert Walker.
Now, a slight adjustment was made to this slate by fall of 2008... CARS 2 had curiously traded places with NEWT, and was now opening a year earlier than expected.
Some time passes by, by mid-2009, THE BEAR AND THE BOW is now BRAVE...
A new project based on Winnie the Pooh fires up. The company has a very short-lived desire to do a full-on reboot of the franchise and get it up to speed, as it had been kinda lost in Pooh Corner for quite some time. Pigeonholed as a preschooler property more so than something to be enjoyed by the whole family... This very brief push for a brand new Winnie the Pooh results in a hand-drawn animated feature, landed in the lap of Disney Animation. It is hastily greenlit and fast-tracked for a 2011 release. WDAS now has a movie to release that year.
Then we get to the end of 2009... THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG is not the blockbuster it should've been. The first hand-drawn feature from the studio since 2004, this performance causes a very weird blowback to fairy tales within the company, in an era where they were very concerned about one single demographic... The 6-to-12 year-old boy. Keep in mind, this is the year Disney launched the channel Disney XD (replacing Toon Disney), a channel tailored to that group. Marvel was also purchased that year, too, meaning Disney-released Marvel Cinematic Universe movies that would appeal to those. Their verdict was that the movie having "Princess" in the title was what killed it, as it scared away that boy audience... Though if you ask me, PRINCESS AND THE FROG had far more outside problems going on that affected the movie than some random little Timmy not wanting to see a "girly movie".
So now, by early 2010, the mandate was... No more fairy tales, those are passe. And 2D was pretty much not coming back, either. WINNIE THE POOH was in production, yes, but it was dead on arrival. An adaptation of THE SNOW QUEEN was... Forgive the pun, *on ice*...
However, there was one movie that stood in the way... It was the next movie, too... RAPUNZEL... The movie was hastily re-titled to TANGLED, in an attempt to make it seem less "girly". I love that movie, but I always hated that title... But it's the one they went with for the domestic and UK releases. Many countries retained the RAPUNZEL title, albeit in other languages. (For example, in French, it's RAIPONCE.) TANGLED couldn't be cancelled, it was far too deep into production to have that happen to it... It was still on track for Thanksgiving of 2010. Elsewhere in the "Hat Building", KING OF THE ELVES is but dead, with Blaise and Walker having moved on to other things. WINNIE THE POOH was moved to the day the final HARRY POTTER movie was supposed to open, instead of a much more ideal early spring slot. (It was an April release in the UK and much of Europe.) Conspicuously, Pixar does not pull the plug on BRAVE, which itself is a fairy tale-inspired fantasy story with a princess in it...
Now around this time, a project called REBOOT RALPH was starting to make the rounds, and eventually it secured a release date of March 22, 2013. Why not fall 2012, where KING OF THE ELVES used to be? Well, that's because Pixar - out of nowhere - had announced that a MONSTERS, INC. 2 was in the works for a fall 2012 release... And that NEWT was outright cancelled, leaving the summer of 2012 to BRAVE. By the time TOY STORY 3 came to theaters, the slate now looked like this...
TANGLED - 11/24/2010
CARS 2 - 6/24/2011
WINNIE THE POOH - 7/15/2011
BRAVE - 6/22/2012
MONSTERS, INC. 2 - 11/2/2012 (or possibly the 16th)
REBOOT RALPH - 3/22/2013
We can see the "two Pixars a year, WDAS settles for the year after" pattern starting to take shape here...
Now we get to early 2011... MONSTERS, INC. 2 turns out to be a prequel titled MONSTERS UNIVERSITY, and REBOOT RALPH is retitled to WRECK-IT RALPH... RALPH is now a fall 2012 release, and MONSTERS U moves to summer 2013. No "two Pixars" in 2012...
TANGLED does well at the box office, proving that fairy tales aren't passe at all. At Disney Animation, THE SNOW QUEEN is put back in development, and according to the defunct insider blog Blue Sky Disney, it was put in a "production race" of sorts with KING OF THE ELVES, now under BOLT director Chris Williams. Both are competing to be the next WDAS film after the release of WRECK-IT RALPH because right around that time? There wasn't anything really else on the horizon that was in shape to go forward... Early work was being done on what would eventually become BIG HERO 6, pitches for movies that later became ZOOTOPIA and MOANA were just taking shape around this time. So it was either SNOW QUEEN or ELVES...
In August, at the inaugural D23 fan expo, Pixar announces two original movies with no titles... They are announced as THE UNTITLED PIXAR MOVIE ABOUT DINOSAURS and THE UNTITLED PIXAR MOVIE THAT TAKES YOU INSIDE THE MIND...
They are later slated for 11/27/2013 and 5/30/2014 respectively...
That is, until THE SNOW QUEEN - now baring the TANGLED-esque adjective title FROZEN - took the dinosaur movie's slot... So by the end of 2011, things looked a bit like this...
BRAVE - 6/22/2012
WRECK-IT RALPH - 11/2/2012
MONSTERS UNIVERSITY - 6/21/2013
FROZEN - 11/27/2013
UNTITLED PIXAR MOVIE ABOUT DINOSAURS - TBD
UNTITLED PIXAR / INSIDE THE MIND - TBD
Come CinemaCon, April 2012, things are cleared up about the dinosaur and mind movies... They have titles, aaaaand release dates...
BRAVE - 6/22/2012
WRECK-IT RALPH - 11/2/2012
MONSTERS UNIVERSITY - 6/21/2013
FROZEN - 11/27/2013
THE GOOD DINOSAUR - 5/30/2014
INSIDE OUT - 6/19/2015
Later in the year, two adjustments are made to this slate...
BRAVE - 6/22/2012
WRECK-IT RALPH - 11/2/2012
MONSTERS UNIVERSITY - 6/21/2013
FROZEN - 11/27/2013
THE GOOD DINOSAUR - 5/30/2014
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 11/7/2014
INSIDE OUT - 6/19/2015
UNTITLED PIXAR - 11/25/2015
Once again, Pixar trying to have two a year...
In April 2013, a FINDING NEMO sequel called FINDING DORY is officially confirmed to exist, and it takes the Thanksgiving 2015 slot... Also right around this time, Disney Animation confirms that their Marvel comic adaptation BIG HERO 6 is on the boards for fall 2014...
May 2013 is where things get big... This, I believe, is in response to how well WRECK-IT RALPH does for Disney Animation. The film manages to be the studio's second big hit after TANGLED, and that they were in good standing. With that, many more dates were locked for WDAS films in addition to Pixar films...
MONSTERS UNIVERSITY - 6/21/2013
FROZEN - 11/27/2013
THE GOOD DINOSAUR - 5/30/2014
BIG HERO 6 - 11/7/2014
INSIDE OUT - 6/19/2015
FINDING DORY - 11/25/2015
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 3/4/2016
UNTITLED PIXAR - 6/17/2016
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 11/23/2016
UNTITLED PIXAR - 6/16/2017
UNTITLED PIXAR - 11/22/2017
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 3/9/2018
UNTITLED PIXAR - 6/15/2018
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 11/21/2018
Talk about "eatin' good"... That was *five* whole years of new animated features to look forward to, and only folks who were in the trenches knew what was possibly coming out on those dates...
The next D23 Expo takes place, where ZOOTOPIA is revealed to the public for the first time. Later, Disney confirms that it'll be WDAS' March 2016 release. However, a little after an odd presentation... It is revealed that Pixar's THE GOOD DINOSAUR has hit a snag... The director was removed, and a month later, Pixar up and delayed the movie. THE GOOD DINOSAUR migrated to Thanksgiving 2015, kicking FINDING DORY to summer 2016... 2014 is the first year to be without a Pixar feature since 2005...
FROZEN - 11/27/2013
BIG HERO 6 - 11/7/2014
INSIDE OUT - 6/19/2015
THE GOOD DINOSAUR - 11/25/2015
ZOOTOPIA - 3/4/2016
FINDING DORY - 6/17/2016
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 11/23/2016
UNTITLED PIXAR - 6/16/2017
UNTITLED PIXAR - 11/22/2017
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 3/9/2018
UNTITLED PIXAR - 6/15/2018
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 11/21/2018
All is quiet for a little while... FROZEN erupts into a blockbuster phenomenon, but Disney remains mum on what's on the horizon beyond the spring 2016 release of ZOOTOPIA. Wisely so.
During an investor's call in March, CARS 3 and INCREDIBLES 2 are confirmed to exist, but are not given release dates.
In October, during another investor's call, TOY STORY 4 is revealed and has a release date: June 16, 2017.
On the Disney Animation front that same month, MOANA is confirmed to be the studio's fall 2016 release.
BIG HERO 6 - 11/7/2014
INSIDE OUT - 6/19/2015
THE GOOD DINOSAUR - 11/25/2015
ZOOTOPIA - 3/4/2016
FINDING DORY - 6/17/2016
MOANA - 11/23/2016
TOY STORY 4 - 6/16/2017
UNTITLED PIXAR - 11/22/2017
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 3/9/2018
UNTITLED PIXAR - 6/15/2018
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 11/21/2018
2015 means a new D23 Expo, and possibly a lot more information on what's coming from both studios...
But first, in March of 2015, Disney announces FROZEN II is happening. No date is set or implied.
At D23, COCO is revealed to be the Pixar's fall 2017 release. GIGANTIC, from Disney Animation, is announced but no release date is given. It is implied to be a spring 2018 release.
Then shortly thereafter, The Walt Disney Company announces a massive film slate encompassing all pictures - animated and live-action, Marvel and Lucasfilm...
CARS 3 is dated, taking TOY STORY 4's 6/16/2017 slot, TOY STORY 4 takes 6/15/2018. INCREDIBLES 2 is dated 6/21/2019, a WDAS film is slated for 11/27/2019... GIGANTIC is confirmed for spring 2018. Three 2020 animation releases are added, too. Wow! Two Pixars, one for 3/13/2020 and the other for 6/19/2020, and one WDAS, 11/25/2020...
THE GOOD DINOSAUR - 11/25/2015
ZOOTOPIA - 3/4/2016
FINDING DORY - 6/17/2016
MOANA - 11/23/2016
CARS 3 - 6/16/2017
COCO - 11/22/2017
GIGANTIC - 3/9/2018
TOY STORY 4 - 6/15/2018
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 11/21/2018
INCREDIBLES 2 - 6/21/2019
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 11/27/2019
UNTITLED PIXAR - 3/13/2020
UNTITLED PIXAR - 6/19/2020
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 11/25/2020
2016 comes about with a few updates...
A WRECK-IT RALPH sequel is confirmed to exist, and is slated for 3/9/2018. It pushes GIGANTIC to fall 2018.
TOY STORY 4 and INCREDIBLES 2 trade places...
By fall 2016, things are looking like this...
MOANA - 11/23/2016
CARS 3 - 6/16/2017
COCO - 11/22/2017
WRECK-IT RALPH 2 - 3/9/2018
INCREDIBLES 2 - 6/15/2018
GIGANTIC - 11/21/2018
TOY STORY 4 - 6/21/2019
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 11/27/2019
UNTITLED PIXAR - 3/13/2020
UNTITLED PIXAR - 6/19/2020
UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION - 11/25/2020
One last development I'll bring up is the cancellation of GIGANTIC in fall 2017, leaving March 2018 vacant. WRECK-IT RALPH sequel, titled RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET: WRECK-IT RALPH 2 (the subtitle was removed right before its release), takes the fall 2018 slot.
Other than that, very little changed... The slate played out the way it was supposed to. INCREDIBLES 2 came out summer 2018, with RALPH 2 following in the fall. TOY STORY 4 was summer 2019, FROZEN II was fall 2019. ONWARD was spring 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some adjustments were made to the slate... But it otherwise resembles what it looked like circa late 2017. SOUL went from summer 2020 Pixar release to Christmas Day streaming release. Fall 2020 WDAS title RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON had to move to March 2021 because of that, but then the slate remained the same... Pixar's LUCA was a summer 2021 release, with WDAS' ENCANTO following in the fall. 2022, this past year, two Pixars as planned: TURNING RED in the spring, LIGHTYEAR in the summer, and one WDAS in the fall, that was STRANGE WORLD.
Their slate now?
ELEMENTAL - 6/16/2023
WISH - 11/22/2023
ELIO - 3/1/2024
INSIDE OUT 2 - 6/14/2024
Only covers this year and next year... One WDAS movie, three Pixars... And a ton of Marvel movies laid out til 2026 and AVATAR sequels into 2028... Disney's taking it easy with announcing what's on the horizon with animation... DreamWorks is doing the same... Heck, Universal's animation slate alone goes up to about mid-2024 with Illumination's DESPICABLE ME 4. A Swiss Universal slate document has various animated films slated for fall 2025 and fall 2026, but no word on those dates here in the states...
Maybe there is a reason they, and specifically Disney, don't announce long-term slates anymore... NEWT and GIGANTIC alone tell one why...
Maybe next time, I'll do DreamWorks, though that's a major-league cluster-cuss of its own. Till next time, fellas!

If you are a fanfic writer in the Elvis/Austin Butler community and you have been effected by the the Wattpad plagerism, PLEASE FILL OUT THIS TAKEDOWN NOTICE
It basically details more of the copyright infringement the way I understand it
I reported the story again as Wattpad didn’t do shit the last time we tried. And I think if we want to get this thief to stop, filling this out might be a good idea

So since Elvis fans are discussing the new announcement…I guess I’ll talk about it
So for those who don’t know, it was announced that Sofia Coppola, acclaimed filmmaker and one that I actually kinda like, is making a bio-pic about Priscilla Presley, specifically about her memoir Elvis and Me (which is a great read btw).
But not only that, but casted in the role of Elvis is Jacob Elordi who dated Kaia Gerber who is currently dating Austin.
That’s the most I will ever talk about celebrity news.
Okay.
I love Sofia’s work. I think she’s a great filmmaker and I would love to see how she’d adapt the book with her style.
However.
The movie won’t be out for a while. Casting announcement means this thing is probably well into pre-production. And a big budget Hollywood bio-pic from a critically acclaimed director that will want to be an awards contender, won’t be out for a while. The guess being thrown around in the fandom is 2024.
However.
The casting announcement coming out practically three months after Elvis (2022)’s release while we’re still riding the high, and even the movie itself, feels like a deliberate cash grab to capitalize on all this new Elvis hype.
And that must suck for Austin and Jacob who are now going to be pitted against each other and constantly compared.
But also yeah. Austin worked his ass off for this role and now someone else is riding his high. That must be unfair.
And yeah. I’m not sure how Priscilla and Lisa Marie will take to this.
Idk how the book rights work with this whole thing. Like idk if Priscilla owns the book rights but the vibe I’m getting is she wasn’t consulted and I have no clue how true that is. But Elvis (2022) was the most accurate film on Elvis’s life and it was the one the family was the most happy with. So this does feel a little insulting that this announcement is riding the high of a film that was truly a passion project for those involved.
So what are my thoughts?
I don’t know dude. On one hand, I’m interested in another version of this story especially done by another pretty great filmmaker. But on the other, it feels so cash grabby and like a PR stunt. Like Jacob being cast is not a coincidence. And I don’t want to compare the two, even though I think Austin is probably going to be the better of the two
We’ll see what happens but yeah this whole thing does leave a bad taste in my mouth

Alan Wake 2 How to Download
Alan Wake 2 announced for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X at the Game Awards
Remedy has debuted a new Alan Wake 2 trailer, announcing the sequel's release date as October 17. The developer has also published a new FAQ to supplement the trailer, revealing that Alan Wake 2 will get two rounds of DLC after launch. The Dark Place operates on dream logic, shifting and looping, drawing its appearance from the mind of whoever comes in contact with it. Alan Wake is trapped in its depths, Alan Wake 2 Download PC his fears and his stories manifesting as reality around him. It’s highly probable this software program is malicious or contains unwanted bundled software. All that's from the latest Kinda Funny newscast, in which Lake spends a lot of time sitting there glassy-eyed while his professional input is sought on such topics as Embracer's possible Gearbox sale and various Spider-Man 2 screenshots.

The version of the system that I used for this preview was, unfortunately, a little clunky. The interface and UI prompts were slightly unintuitive, and occasionally I found that evidence wouldn’t fit where it logically should do, forcing me to just try every option until the clue stuck. It wasn’t particularly satisfying, but before I left the studio, Remedy was already using my feedback to fine-tune the case board. Saga does not automatically make sense of these clues; instead, they must be deciphered in the Mind Place, a mental representation of an FBI office in Saga’s head.
Casey wears the face of Remedy’s own creative director, Sam Lake, who dusts off a familiar paisley-patterned tie and weathered leather jacket to max effect. The meta levels of Remedy’s unique approach reach winking new highs here as James McCaffrey’s scratchy voice performance transports me back to bullet time ballets once Alan Wake 2 Download danced. The passing of the torch from one very different hero to another comes in the form of a common object between the two, however, as the cold metal of a revolver feels more like a warm friend. The game released its first CG trailer during the 2021 Game Awards, and provided fans a sneak peek of what's to come.
More details about its story will come out in 2022 as it gears up for its official release. Speaking of release, there is still a lot of waiting to be done, since it has no exact date yet apart from being released in 2023. When Alan Wake 2 pc download the first Alan Wake game was released back in 2010, it garnered critical acclaim from both players and reviewers alike. Many praised its tight pacing and compelling storytelling that pulled you in deeper into its narrative.
From here you can enter Alan's writer's room, a sort of 3D menu that manifests as a log cabin complete with a typewriter and a chalkboard ready to be filled with ideas. It’s on that board that you can recap what has been learned so far, and — more crucially — decide where the story goes next. As Alan descends deeper into the tunnels below Where i Can Download Alan Wake 2 the city, he is able to remix and rewrite certain locations to give different contexts to objects in the world. If the glimpses of gameplay we've seen from the Saga side look more inspired by the original Alan Wake and recent Resident Evil remakes, this Dark Place mission seems to owe much more to the warping weirdness of Control.
The game is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on October 27, 2023. From the hard-boiled police files of Max Payne to the New Weird foundations of Control, movies, TV shows, and books have long served as inspiration. This is no different in Alan Wake 2, which blends horror and detective fiction in creatively unsettling ways. We Alan Wake 2 pc download talked to Remedy to find out why these genres work so well together, discuss some of the game’s cultural touchstones, and how they bleed their way into the survival horror story, characters, and gameplay. The most notable change coming to Alan Wake II is that it will be a survival horror experience compared to its predecessor's more action-oriented gameplay.

Quantum Break’s Shawn Ashmore even pops us as somebody called Tim Breaker, a mysterious man in a police uniform looking to help Alan. Quick Review: Mystery Road (2013)
This movie is fairly-well critically acclaimed, but I don't see why. I found it a disappointment. It does everything very well, except for perhaps that most critical element: story.
It starts off promising. Its moody, slow-burning start paints a vivid picture of a dysfunctional outback town; plagued by poverty, drugs, and crime; divided by racial tensions; filled with authentically Australian, well-acted, morally-grey characters. Into this, a murder that must be solved.
Tumblr media
Jay Swan is the protagonist, sitting somewhere between the extremes of very cliché and very creative.
Our detective hero gets to solving the case but as the movie goes on he seems to be drained of agency, going from a sleuth to a sloth. From hunting down clues to finding them falling in his lap.
(Spoilers in this paragraph.) He eventually seems to run out of steam, and the crooks have to come to him to end the movie.
Tumblr media
"A bit early for ice-cream, sarge?" The first half of the movie sets up interesting characters. Almost all of them irrelevant to the later plot.
The gun-play in the movie is very hit-and-miss (pun intended). Firefights are done very sparingly, which I appreciate. The Aussie crims have a weird selection of firearms, including a dinky revolver, which feels quite authentic; but they never seem to need to reload. A sniping duel that could've been thrilling was ruined by a strange choice to make bullets sub-sonic with a strange delayed travel time that I imagine was meant to evoke suspense. These little mistakes cheapen what could've been a thrilling scene by making it feel like a shootout from the A-Team.
This movie brings up lots of interesting things only to leave them all in the air, unaddressed, for a really basic cop-beats-baddies story. It has nothing interesting to say. But at least it does say it in a moody, slow-burning way.
My rating: Ordinary ★★☆☆

'Over the years, Christopher Nolan has proved to be one of the best directors in the industry. Considered a master of complex narratives and grand set pieces, it is said that even the worst Nolan movies are better than most other flicks. The usage of practical effects and reliance on films instead of digital video are some of the attributes that make the director a God of cinema.
Christopher Nolan’s filmmaking style is very distinct from most other filmmakers of this era. Despite his stories consisting of high-level concepts, there’s a grounded approach and a certain old-school style in his works that make Nolan an absolute fan favorite. Having several blockbusters under his collar, the Oppenheimer director is both critically and commercially acclaimed.
As the maestro is celebrating his 53rd Happy Birthday today, we present to you all of Christopher Nolan’s movies ranked from worst to best.
12. Following (1998)
Following is renowned for being the directorial debut of one of the greatest. Christopher Nolan‘s first movie was made on a strictly tight budget and saw the filmmaker doing most of the work in the movie. It centers around the story of a young writer following random strangers in London until he himself gets followed by a stranger. Several production hurdles accompanied by a massively low budget took the movie a solid 1 year to complete.
Although the movie showed marks of a legend in making who knows the art of filmmaking, it can’t be denied that it doesn’t come very near to his other phenomenal works. The way Christopher Nolan improved over the years made it difficult for this black-and-white noir flick to movies like Interstellar or The Prestige.
11. Tenet (2020)
As if Interstellar and Inception weren’t enough to play with the minds of the fans, Tenet presented itself as an unbeatable force. Despite being a visual spectacle with many scenes leaving a lasting impression, the complexity is too much. The whole concept of ‘time inversion’ was way too complicated. The sound issue persistent with most Christopher Nolan movies was frustrating at its best as most of the dialogues were difficult to figure out. The set pieces and the performances might convince the audiences to go for revisits neither the story nor the characters are memorable enough.
10. Insomnia (2002)
Insomnia starred two of the most significant Hollywood stars Al Pacino and Robin Williams in a complex psychological thriller. This movie was prominent for the filmmaker in a lot of ways. It is the only adaptation under his name based on a Norwegian movie of the same name. The film follows two detectives who are investigating the murder of a girl in the misty small town of Alaska. But the story turns more complex as one of them gets accidentally killed by the other detective.
The movie boasts some intense performances, especially by Robin Williams who shines in his character of the killer. Insomnia made it clear to many critics that Christopher Nolan could handle ensemble casts very well. But even after so much, this film also gets stuck in the vicious cycle of Nolan’s filmography that only gets better with each movie.
09. Memento (2000)
Memento was only the second movie by Christopher Nolan but already established his name in the non-linear genre. The movie earned a cult following as it showed the story of Leonard Shelby played by Guy Pearce who sets on a quest to find the killer of his wife. What complicates the situation more is his condition of anterograde amnesia which restricts him from creating new memories. He uses tattoos and photographs to remember the clues.
The storytelling is done in reverse and the movie followed both colored and black-and-white approaches intertwined with each other. Memento is still considered an absolute masterpiece by many and is also praised to be culturally and historically very significant.
08. The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
The conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy is one of the most talked about Nolan movies but in a negative way. Even after being hailed by critics as an amazing end to the story of Christian Bale’s Batman, the audience deemed it to be quite weak. It is also to be noted that this came after the legendary The Dark Knight. This already set the bar too high for the movie to fulfill.
Still, the movie was successful in showing us a more human side of the Caped Crusader. A feeling of hopelessness as his City crumbled to wars both from external and internal fronts. The gritty and sad tone of the movie accompanied by Tom Hardy’s performance as Bane even though the character was not fleshed out properly makes it for a good watch.
07. Dunkirk (2017)
Dunkirk is often hailed by many people as one of the greatest war movies with some even calling it the best. The intense war drama was quite different from what Nolan delivered in the past. It presents the real incident of the Dunkirk evacuation during World War II. The movie showed some of the most beautiful cameras works in Cinema without any use of VFX. The emotional aspects in the movie are also commendable with some of the best performances. Dunkirk is a unique take on the genre that has been worked on several times and never fails to deliver.
06. Batman Begins (2005)
Following the horrendous performance of Batman & Robin, another reboot announcement of a movie on the savior of Gotham didn’t excite anyone much. But everyone was surprised immediately when Christopher Nolan’s take on the character was seen. The filmmaker who mastered the art of only mind-bending narratives didn’t let anybody expect what they saw.
The grounded approach with the gritty dark tone along with the electrifying performances by Christian Bale, Cillian Murphy, and the others received immense praise. The audience loved the deep messages shown in the movie. Mature audiences got to watch something different and the mature themes that are dealt with in the movie impressed them a lot. Despite the climax attracting some criticism, it was a super start to one of the best superhero trilogies ever made.
05. The Prestige (2006)
Christopher Nolan assembled superheroes of different universes as he made The Prestige with Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, and Scarlett Johansson. A tale about two rival magicians presents a very deep emotional movie that is rarely subjected to any bad review by the viewers.
Packed with some of the most amazing performances by both Jackman and Bale, the film delivers a magically superb plot. As the audience dwells deeper into the psychological space of the characters, we get to know more about their sinister thought processes. The movie provides a totally new experience with every rewatch and is one of his best.
04. Oppenheimer (2023)
The latest release by the visionary filmmaker is probably the most non-Nolan movie of his career. Oppenheimer based on the life of the Father of Atomic Bomb presents a huge star cast with some of the most prominent faces cast in the shortest of roles. Delivering the most iconic performances of Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr., this movie will be known for years. The intricate detailing given to the smallest scientific details along with the story shown in three different timelines give us a memorable movie worthy of our full attention. The Trinity Test sequence stands out as a brilliant example of Christopher Nolan’s non-reliance on CGI. Some might also consider Oppenheimer this year’s best feature yet.
03. Inception (2010)
Inception made it clear to most fans that nobody can beat Nolan in storytelling. The complicated plot of the Leonardo DiCaprio movie revolved around the idea that dreams could be erased or implanted in other people’s subconscious. The story goes grand as DiCaprio’s Cobb and team played by other major actors design several layers of dreams to fulfill one last mission which can bring back the protagonist back home to his children. While the ending of the film is still a major subject of discussion among many, the extravagant set pieces to the concept of the movie and execution- every aspect was appreciated widely.
02. Interstellar (2014)
Interstellar is one of those movies that can never be forgotten and can present a different experience with each watch. The Christopher Nolan brainchild is adventurous, scientific, and complicated yet one of the most loveable, sad, and deepest movies. The main message doesn’t lie in the complex narrative or the whole confusion of time and space. Its main focus is on love and Matthew McConaughey delivered a breathtaking performance as Coop.
It can’t be praised more how Interstellar manages both the scientific aspects as well as the concept of love transcending time and space so well. Not only the scenes are considered some of the best Cinematic Visuals of all time, but the moments will also be etched in our minds forever.
01. The Dark Knight (2008)
There must be hardly anyone who doubts the presence of The Dark Knight not only on the top of Nolan’s list but any list centering on Cinema. One of those rarest superhero flicks that provide far more than the simplistic hero-villain chase, this sequel to Batman Begins is the best Superhero movie. The way it questions on several deep aspects of human morality deserves utmost praise. On top of that the menacing performance of the late Heath Ledger as the iconic Joker is one of the best antagonist portrayals ever. Thanks to Christopher Nolan, the world witnessed how a completely unconventional superhero flick can be much more than a mere project with classic cliches.

i have no clue what final fantasy even is anymore so i have literally nothing to say about your kitty-catfolk other than you look like you're having so much fun please continue posting about them
Thank you for supporting my blorbo obsessions <33 I am having so much fun all the time !!
Arsay means a lot to me!! It's wild to say that cause at the end of the day she is pixels on a screen but I have poured a lot of emotion into her and thats what matters.
I barely got final fantasy before starting critically acclaimed mmorpg final fantasy xiv, and there's still a whole lot that goes over my head since my main exposure is like kingdom hearts, a single play through of X i watched over 15 years ago, a single play through of IX i watched a year ago, and the copy of advent child and spirits within that I rented from blockbusters as a kid cause I saw kept seeing "final fantasy" on deviant art and thought the movie must be a good way to get into the franchise. I am a fake final fantasy fan gamers warn you about. I do call squall "leon" and have to correct myself. i do have to ask my friend "hey is this a reference to another final fantasy" all the time. I do see them talk about capital D "Darkness" and saying 'oh this is kingdom hearts bullshit again" despite that being final fantasy bullshit thats in kingdom hearts

....and the Oscar goes to.. | Tom Holland X Male!actor reader.
Tumblr media
A/N: this was just something I wrote because I got inspired I guess. Happy Pride everyone!
——————————————
You couldn’t decide whether time was slipping through your fingers too quickly or if this had been the longest night you’d ever experienced.
seconds slowed to a crawl while you tried to gather yourself before it was your turn to take the stage. You were nervous. Not about being at the oscars or presenting for the first time. Not even about being nominated for your leading role in the second installment of a critically acclaimed trilogy. No, you’d been used to these sorts of things, you’d been an actor since you were a very young kid. Starting on television before film, and you even got to hold the Emmy the show had won when you had just turned a teenager.
No, you were nervous about who exactly you’d be presenting to. Of the five nominees and potential winners, only one could cause such an intensive feeling in your chest. Only one could awaken a sense of dread that battled with a feeling of intensive happiness mixed with anticipation, and it was Tom.
You’d known each other for years and had come to fall in love. You’d met as young co-stars on set and eventually grew into an inseparable friendship that progressed into something far more. Neither of you were sure when the feelings started but it felt like they’d always been there and you weren’t exactly complaining.
Your blissfulness with Tom was beautiful but short lived. After almost a year of being official you both agreed to take a break from the relationship. Unbeknownst to Tom you were just agreeing to save face and hadn’t pried for an answer out of fear of being hurt. You just accepted that this was how things were now, and took a step back.
You’d still kept in contact with him. It was hard not to. He was still your best friend. But whether it was the business of work or something a little more awkward, distance grew between you both as the multi-hour long facetime calls and text threads became once-a-week check-ins to just make sure you were alive and okay.
Time had passed, and you didn’t have a clue what you could possibly say to him now. You certainly didn’t want to ruin his special night. But you’d missed him so much and felt like you would implode at the first sign that he’d be interested in getting back together with you. But you also didn’t want to seem desperate or needy if he’d moved on. You didn’t want to slip and say those three words again in the moment.
Father time showed you no mercy as the sand in his hourglass suddenly shifted from a slow-motion drip to a flood. The seconds you’d spent daydreaming of your past with Tom and pondering about the your potential future had passed and left you with little time to gather yourself before presenting. still you shook your hands, arms, and lastly shoulders, putting all your worries aside and waited for introduction from the host.
Before long you’d been counted in to walking on stage, and heard the host over the microphone. “Ladies and Gentlemen, to present the award and introduce the nominees for Best Supporting Actor, please welcome one of this year’s nominees and one of our generation’s greatest talents: Y/F/N Y/L/N.”
The applause erupts from the audience like a revved up engine as you took center but it was nothing compared to the standing ovation you’d receive later on that night when receiving your own award for Best Actor.
You were stood promptly center staged with the towering Oscar statue reflecting onto the black stage floor beneath your feet. Your outfit was alluring and would surely be the next hot topic which is rare for male stars. You looked like a million bucks. Everyone knew it, most of all, Tom.
You smile and wave as you approach the microphone, your teeth shining a blinding white, and wait for a hush from the crowd.
You chuckle lightly as a few hoots and hollers sound out as the cheers subside.
You eye the monitor across the room and start to read, your nerves dying down as your jokes land and laughter echoes around the room.
As you finish the introduction, clips start to show behind you to accompany the names of the nominees as the cameras catch a glimpse of each of their reactions.
You couldn’t help but notice how tough the competition was as each actor was called. Steven Yuen playing a detective in a thrilling murder mystery. John David Washington in a fictional film playing the world’s first black astronaut aiding in the discovery of lovecraftian horrors. Andrew Garfield for his role as a psychotic narcissist and genius businessman. Oscar Issac acting in a sci fi space opera asking questions of existentialism.
Finally, you had to withhold your smile as you called out the last name. He had returned to his Billy Elliot roots being nominated for his role in a astonishing musical romance film. “Tom Holland.” You’d been ecstatic when he’d told you about it as you’d always recommend he tried it again since it made him so happy in his younger years.
You spot him a few rows from the stage, making eye contact with him and wondering if he was thinking about you the way you had done with him earlier. You couldn’t help but notice him squirming in his chair and fidgeting with his hands. Selfishly asking yourself if this wasn’t just about the award but about having you present it to him.
Seeing you here after what felt like an eternity apart and your reunion potentially being the greatest achievement of both your careers. Making it the greatest night of your lives, that is, if you were still together. But you were still best friends. That’s what mattered. So you push your self centered thoughts aside and shoot him a small wave that he returns with a smile and thumbs up. letting you know he was okay and that you could continue as the camera pans back to you capturing your not so hidden giddiness.
This awarded some small oos and aahs from the crowd as your relationship with him had been a wholly celebrated one. especially among your marvel peers.
You’re handed an envelope and statue as the music ends and the applause dies down and you take one final glare into the camera before beginning to open the envelope.
“....and the Oscar goes to,” you take a peek at the crowd and see some of the nominees holding hands with loved ones. others plainly
awaiting your next words with bated breath. The anticipation shone on everyone’s faces. Even those that weren’t nominated. Your not-so-hidden grin giving away the answer mere milliseconds before his name escaped your lips. “Tom Holland!”
Tom shot up with a shared expression of shock and happiness on his face. Pecking his mother on the cheek as she wipes the tears of pride from her eyes. His best mate Harrison gives him a quick embrace and a pat on the back before he moves on to shake hands with the director and smile at everyone cheering him on as he gradually moves toward the stage still completely baffled at the victory.
As he walks towards you in his pink pastel colored suit and brown leather dress shoes you can’t help but swell with an overwhelming feeling of joy having been here to share this career defining moment with him. You thought about how far you’d both come to get here and almost started tearing up remembering all you’d been through together.
He skipped up the miniature steps and blanketed you with both arms. You didn’t want it to end as you hadn’t felt it in a while. You threw your arms around his neck and he tightens his hold around your torso. Before you could even process them, your blunt thoughts spill out as whispers.
“I’m so incredibly proud of you. you deserve this and so much more.” you hear a small chuckle escape him as he responds. “I am trying not to cry y’know mate?” a wolf whistle comes from the crowd as you apologize for being so sappy and before he can tell you off for it you hand him his award and shove him off toward the microphone.
As he takes center stage you stand off to the side to watch him give his acceptance speech. He pauses and takes a second to gather himself before he starts talking straight from his heart with nothing prepared.
“Um, Wow. I really can’t believe this is really happening and I probably still won’t believe it happened tomorrow. Just.. wow.” his words were filled with that charmingly British accent you’d come to love so much.
“First I would like to thank my mother, without whom of course, I would not be here. I would like to thank the academy and everyone who worked on this movie from the producers and camera men, make-up and costumes, to our wonderful writers, composer, back up dancers and vocalists, and of course my friends, my co-star and the director Damien Chazelle.” whom he gestures to sitting in the second row. “I share this with all of you and I can’t thank you enough for awarding me with the opportunity to create something I love so much.”
He thanks the other nominees before turns towards you to end his speech. you felt your heart in your hands when you saw his big brown puppy eyes dart in your direction with an intensive glare of admiration.
“last but most importantly, I want to thank the inspiration for all of the love songs I sung in the film and the reason I decided to take the role. The person standing here on my right.”
Your jaw drops and your eyes widen when his words hit you like a speeding semi. you realize that he’d just called you his muse in so many words. the inspiration behind the love songs in the film no less. Meaning that with every lovestruck note his character sung he was reminded of you. All that time spent worrying if the distance between you two would cause him to forget about you, or if he’d maybe moved on and found somebody else. But no such thing had happened. He was relating his character’s longing in the film to his longing for you this entire time and that made your heart do a backflip.
You blush and cover your still ajar mouth with your fist whilst trying not to pay attention to the crowd who’s attention was fully focused on you.
He takes a deep sigh before continuing. “Y/N you’re not only the reason I took this role, but you’re the reason I was able to play it with such sincerity. You’ve been a unwavering beacon of support throughout my career in general but here you really gave me the inspiration for something special. He faces the audience again as the all follow his words with whispers of how adorable you both were. “from reading lines together in the middle of the night, to keeping me company when i’m on the brink of a meltdown.” It was all true and it only made you miss you relationship more and you found it difficult to hold back your tears.
“Y/N is the kind of best friend everybody needs, the kind of partner everybody deserves, and the person I’m so incredibly lucky to have known for so long. ..and I still can’t believe he never figured out the lyrics were all about him, It was kind of obvious-” the audience laughed you’re so close to swooning as he turns toward you again. “But, with all my heart, I love you, Y/N. Always will.” you feel as if you’re floating.
He shifts to the crowd one last time to say a final thank you before you both walk off stage one arm around one another’s shoulders. You have a short but sweet conversation backstage with him where reassures you that everything he said on stage was true and completely unscripted. He wants to talk more but knows your category is coming soon so he asks for a later opportunity and you agree before returning to your seat in the crowd.
The rest of the night flew by with you winning the award for best actor and receiving the biggest applause of the night. Tom joined in the standing ovation. You thanked everybody involved in making the film, the academy, and squeezed a little joke directed towards Tom that garnered a shared laugh from both him and the audience. You were the last award of the night and after the celebrations it was time to return to your place, where Tom was waiting for you. Wanting to talk about everything that had happened not just tonight but everything leading up to it. He also hoped you’d kept a spot open in your heart for him to return to.

Hmm yeah, I’m wondering why Damon Thomas didn’t come back to direct anymore? I remember at least Jodie speaking very highly of him and I think he directed all the previous finales.
I think this mess of a season and the ruined ending really shows that this system where you change showrunners and writers and directors all the time just doesn’t work. I mean I’m very happy that Sandra and Jodie got to improvise their scenes ‘cos that really saved the whole thing but it really shouldn’t go like that. Actors are there to act and they should be able to trust the writers and directors to do their job properly so that they don’t have to carry the whole show on their shoulders.
Also LN saying she didn’t write anything but the outline for the Villaneve scenes and just let Sandie do their thing is really telling in a way, because hello?? You have Sandra fcking Oh and Jodie fcking Comer with chemistry out of this world, you have characters like Eve and Villanelle… I mean that would be every writer’s wet dream right?? But she didn’t have any idea how to write Villaneve, she didn’t have any interest in that or any understanding of their characters. Why did this kind of person get the responsibility to bring this show to an end is a mystery.
From my understanding, their shooting schedule was different than normal (obviously because we normally didn't get seasons until April and this year it premiered in February) and Damon was on location in the States (?) I believe doing a movie, so was simply unavailable. I think it's kind of crazy that they couldn't have adjusted the filming schedule for something that important, but obviously Jodie and Sandra's availability probably takes precedence and maybe shifting it to work with his schedule just wasn't feasible. Jodie loved Damon and said that he was always pushing her and encouraging her to be fearless and just really push the envelope, so I'm sure she was probably sad that they didn't have the opportunity to work together one last time.
You absolutely cannot change show runners like this. You can't. Because every single one is going to have a different vision for the show and it's hard enough changing visions like that on a seasonal basis, but then when the season is only 8 episodes on top of that? It's an impossible situation. I truly don't understand how anyone thought that was a good idea. I think SWG didn't like where Emerald Fennell took Villaneve, because she went much deeper into the relationship and the characters than we had seen even in s1. s2 was VERY Villaneve centric. So I think SWG needed an excuse as to why she wasn't bringing Emerald back (especially after the critical acclaim and awards that season) and her bullshit excuse of "oh we want to give a bunch of different female writers a chance to run the show" was born. The proof is in the pudding, that shit DOES NOT WORK and frankly never should have happened. It was incredibly unprofessional to do that to your actresses, who have openly spoken about how difficult it was to adjust to new show runners every season and that they had to fight not to lose the essence of their characters.
It's glaringly clear that Laura Neal didn't have a fucking clue how to write Villaneve this season. There is literally no other reason for keeping them apart instead of just letting them start off the season tracking down the Twelve together. She introduced forced, unexplained conflict, gave us a handful of scenes where the dialogue and communication were essentially ZERO. And then we got 4x08, which bless Jodie and Sandra for what they gave us through their improv, but we once again got no meaningful dialogue between them. If I sit back and look at s4, did they have one meaningful conversation?? Maybe the "there's no such thing as fate, then what is this?" exchange. But that was ONE LINE, not conversation. How did they go the entire last SEASON without their central characters having ONE MEANINGFUL CONVERSATION?! I seriously just want to punch a wall because so much was left unsaid and we are just left with that reality
