what if our hands accidentally brushed against each other during our weekly evil meeting and I act cool but then later I crawl back to my sewers and vomit out of anxiety and scrape my knees bloody as I pray against the altar of my father and swear, I swear, I don't love you, I don't even like you, and that my last actions on this planet will be to ensure that we die by the same blade, in the same motion, only after everyone else

and then I go back to you the next day and I'm like "hey :) feeling totally normal :) I only want to kill you the normal amount :)"

Obsessed with the idea of Gortash superimposing his memory of Durge on them only to be left reeling when confronted by the smallest of changes. What do you MEAN your favorite color isn't red anymore? that you would rather walk boldly in the sun than observe from the city's dark corners? Your perfume is different, your way of laughing is different. It shouldn't be a big deal but it is, and he still treats them in all the same ways he used to treat his Durge. He tries to trigger their memory by relying on what he knows they used to like, but the information is old and the reception isn't the same. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the idea of an amnesiac Durge that is unsettled by all the intimate ways that Gortash knows them but I also can't resist the idea of Gortash being unsettled by all the ways he doesn't anymore.

It drives him mad.

Also the reason I write Gortash so obsessed with Durge and literally holding them above everyone else is because

Imagine: You meet a child of god. A child of cruel and evil god who is an awful murderer. Killing is their Sole Purpose, the reason why they were even created.

And that person one day REFUSES their father, their GOD. Why? Because of you. A child of god defies a god for you. They are made for killing but refuse to kill YOU when their god commands them to.

They get betrayed and disgraced because of you. You think they're dead. BECAUSE they chose you over everything else.

And then they return and alright, the memory is lost, but it's still them. You know it's them.

Like imagine the power trip Gortash had to have upon the revelation what Durge disobeyed their god for HIM.

Of course he'd be obsessed. The child of god said only he matters.

A beauty of the Durgetash ship is that you can makle Durge as any race and you can fit that into your Enver Gortash headcanons.

You can headcanon that Enver has a thing for gnomes, and that he'd enslaved the Gondian gnomes as a way of processing his feelings for a gnomish Durge, albeit in an incredibly unhealthy way.

You can headcanon that he is a secret/former Tiamat worshipper and digs a Dragonborn Dark Urge for that reason and how he rivals Lae'zel with his thirst for Dragonkind.

You can headcanon that he goes for mature looking human women who remind him of his mother, and that he sees the human female Dark Urge as a surrogate mother figure to feed an unaddressed Oedipal complex.

You can headcanon that Enver has a thing for devilish looking people from his time in the hells so he gravitates to a Tiefling Dark Urge and maybe he desires to serve them albeit subconsciously as he did with Raphael?

Just as well, you can headcanon that Enver has a Drow kink and when Drow Dark Urge is missing, he goes to the Orlith twins at Sharess Caress to try to get some of what he is missing from them.

The narrative surrounding Durgetash your oyster and not something to be gatekept. It's meant to be sacriligeous, twisted, and mutually destructive dark romance. Let your imaginations do what they will and have fun with it.

What if Gortash touching Durge was the only time they received any gentle contact from anyone?

What if he had been the first one to do that?

It’s very likely that Durge has never had any gentle caresses or soft touches since their foster family’s death. At least, none that had no ulterior motive behind them.

Maybe one of the reasons they liked Gortash so much is because he wasn’t afraid of touching them with kindness.

Seriously though, Durge had to have been very touch starved. They probably craved touch a lot, but couldn’t ask/have any or just… didn’t know how.
