Tumblr media
what's your phone wallpaper: i've got two ! my current one is my girl wendy who we lost a couple years ago, and the other is my current pup ! both looking cute as ever
last song you listened to: i haven't properly listened to music today, but i play it while i fall asleep for white noise, and according to spotify it was fifteen ( taylor's version ) !
currently reading: currently i'm reading book 1 of the emily wilde series, and i've got the dovekeepers as my current read that i'm sitting on because it takes me a while to fully get back into it. next on my list i think is either going to be tusks of extinction, or ashes of the star cursed king ! i've also got maps of the otherland for when i finish my current book hehe
last movie: ooh, i'm not sure ! maybe the idea of you, when my mom was watching ?
what are you wearing right now?: i'm in my comfies ! sweat pants and a light t shirt
how tall are you?: 5'3" thank you kindly to the medical assistant who rounded up my height at my last doc appointment im never saying 5’2” again
piercings / tattoos?: my ears are pierced, but during the mask wearing time, i didn't like wearing earrings, so unfortunately i stopped wearing them - and now my earholes are closed up ! at least, the right one is, i haven't tried the left one aslfkgj shouldn't be hard to reopen, but i'm a chicken. no tattoos yet, but i definitely want to get some ! i want to get my late dog's paw print as my first, i just gotta find a good place to go <3
glasses / contacts: glasses ! i don't like anything to do with eyes, so i absolutely will never be trying out contacts
last thing you ate?: i had a few bites of cake, and also some oreos. very exciting hahah now i'm thinking of proper food at 11pm at night !
favorite color: any shade of green !!!!
current obsession: i'm six seasons deep in my criminal minds rewatch, so let's call it that.
do you have a crush right now?: nope ! i'm demiace so they rarely happen for me <3
favorite fictional character: oh, many. to keep it easy, i'll keep it to five ! piper halliwell, isabelle lightwood, emily prentiss, evie carnahan, buffy summers, emma swan, juliette silverton, scott mccall, brooke davis, nina zenik, rosalie hale, hayley marshall .... oops, that's more than five, isn't it ?
last place you travelled: ooh, i'm not sure. travelled being explained how ? going out of town ? the last place i went to out of state was costa rica back in 2020. haven't really taken any trips since ! but i have made a plan for the next year to take a 30 day leave from work to travel, either back to mexico or somewhere new, and that's so exciting !! it's the boost i needed to really get myself out of feeling super stagnant at work, having a plan <3
tagged by: no one i stole this from @salvatoraes tagging: also no one, i'm lazy and if you see this and want to you should do it too !

I was tagged by: @sailorpants in this tag meme in LITERALLY JUNE , APOLOGIES FRIEND!
last song: i dunno tbh?
currently watching: Literally presently watching Trainspotting (1996) as i write this. It's pretty fuckin good. I forgot it was a surreal horor comedy. Could do with less shitting on screen but eh.
currently reading: mmm mostly fanfiction since I finished Parable of the Talents by Octavia Butler. I have some of her vampire novels queued up on my ereader too. I tried to get into Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman this week but gave up about 3 pages in.
I'm looking for a good book on peatlands, since I'm spending so much time on them these days I'd like to learn a little about where i walk. Annie Proulx's Fen, Bog & Swamp was disappointing. she literally wrote Brokeback Mountain! but something about her ecological writing rubs me the wrong way. Very white american. Very colonial. boring. maybe I'd have enjoyed it better as a written text than an audiobook. Can't really skim the boring parts in an audiobook.
current obsession: hmmmmmmm. Overwhelm. Work stress. Housing stress. Various mental crises. I don't really HAVE a functioning obsession at the minute, i might benefit from one. I have been daydreaming about that one Being Human fic I want to write. might put some energy into that!
Thank you for tagging me 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

2, 21 and 27!
Do you drink tea or coffee? How do you take it?
I don't really drink most tea. I'm a coffee girl. I prefer it iced with vanilla creamer, but I'll drink it hot in winter.
How was your day today?
It was ok! I made a no-bake cake with my mom for Tuesday, threw some food in the crockpot, napped, and have woken up to a rainstorm.
What’s your favorite book? Or just one you’ve read a few times?
This is so hard because I've read so many, but some that have resonated with me in the last few years are:
Wide Sargasso Sea
The Blind Assassin
Monday's Not Coming
Rooftops of Tehran
We Need To Talk About Kevin
The Memoirs of Cleopatra
Burial Rites
The Tiger Queens: the Women of Genghis Khan
The Dovekeepers
I love historical fiction, so if anyone has recommendations please send them my way!

Book recommendations. I tried to vary the topics so hopefully there's something that interests you. These are all among the best books I have ever read.
Moloka'i - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3273.Moloka_i - it's a novel about a girl (she becomes a woman over the course of the book) growing up in a Hawaiian leper colony in the early 20th century. It sounds depressing but it's one of the most beautiful books I have ever read.
Educated - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35133922-educated - a memoir written by a woman who grew up in a survivalist and fundamentalist Mormon family. I read it and basically only put it down to sleep during the time between starting it and finishing it.
The Great Believers - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/45304101-the-great-believers - a novel split between Chicago in the 1980s and Paris in the 2010s. It's about the effects of the AIDS crisis on the gay community in the 1980s and their loved ones.
Tell it to the Bees - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6767519-tell-it-to-the-bees - enjoyable (non-smutty) lesbian romance novel.
In Other Lands - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31944679-in-other-lands - it's a young adult novel about a boy who crosses a barrier that others can't see and enters a magical land where he goes to a magical boarding school. But it's basically a literary deconstruction of the typical books like that you will read, tackling the tropes head on. Fun, funny, serious, and gripping. I can't recommend it enough.
The You I've Never Known - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30312837-the-you-i-ve-never-known - a young adult story, half of which is told in verse. It's about two girls growing up, dealing with difficult family situations and relationships, and discovering their sexualities. Don't read the summary please, as it contains a major spoiler.
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12000020-aristotle-and-dante-discover-the-secrets-of-the-universe - a young adult book about two boys in El Paso. It's a love story, it's a coming of age story, it's everything.
Annie on My Mind - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/595375.Annie_on_My_Mind - the ending feels a bit rushed, but I believe this was the first book to tell a lesbian love story with a happy ending.
The Dovekeepers - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10950924-the-dovekeepers - a novel about four women who find themselves in the doomed stronghold of Masada during a war fought in the first century CE. The women all meet over the course of the book, which is divided into four sections, one told from each of their perspectives.
Darling - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/51199185-darling - a modern retelling of Peter Pan from Wendy's perspective. You'll never feel the same way about Peter Pan again.
Under the Lights and in the Dark - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/33114524-under-the-lights-and-in-the-dark - this one was enjoyable but not as good as the others. I'm including it because it's about woso and I did enjoy reading it. It's non-fiction.
oh wow, thank you so much!!! I really appreciate the effort you put into this, I will absolutely check all of them out
