fgo criticisms have been flaring up in the wake of dw’s sakura wars mobile game quitting after only half a year but I have a disease that makes me get defensive when people try to rip fgo apart as this uniquely terrible game with uniquely terrible devs so i’m going to complain about people who are complaining for a bit.

i hadn’t heard of the sakura wars game before it shut down but from what i’ve been able to find it suffered from a lot of the same problems as (launch) fgo, terrible gacha rates with no pity, slow ap recovery rates, barebones repetitive gameplay. so i guess seeing how fast sakura wars was shut down people feel like it’s only the fate name holding up fgo and in the early launch days of barely playable fgo that was definitely the case but I don’t think it’s fair to fgo to act like people only continue to play it because it’s fate, and “being like fgo” wasn’t the only problem with sakura wars either. sakura wars is a vn/dating sim series that attempted to revive the series with a mobile game that featured none of the original cast that fans cared about while fate was already a series with new characters and a new setting every instalment and the thing that stood out in this new game was actually that it DID have characters from previous fates available. hell, it’s not fair to sakura wars to claim that its series name is simply weaker than fate’s when there were other factors involved in its failure beyond “being a delightworks game”

fgo DOES improve, launch fgo is unrecognisable compared to current fgo in a good way. events have become more streamlined (events have mid- to lategame enemy hp scaling but feature damage ce’s to let newer players keep up, mission events are set up so that they basically clear themselves just by farming the most recently unlocked node), they experiment with new game modes and gameplay mechanics on the regular, they’re taking more care to make viable permanent servants and buff the older ones, and the past few months there’s also been a noticeable effort to throw out random banners for minor things as an excuse to rerun old limited servants more often. I’ll admit the bar is on the low side (strengthening quests are a ridiculous model, there shouldn’t be this many limiteds to need reruns in the first place, etc) and progress is slower than many people are willing to put up with, and I’m not saying anyone Has to put up with it or they’re a fake fan or whatever, but like, granblue fantasy is seven years old and still doesn’t have the ability to uncap a weapon multiple stages at a time when its entire gameplay loop centers around farming and uncapping weapons and they’ve buffed heles like 7 times but she’s still shit, none of fgo’s problems are exclusive to fgo.

i LIKE playing fgo. i like tapping the cards and watching my little guys go and coming up with different teams to make them go harder or just look good together or even lean into the Themes. and this is going a little bit on a tangent but i have this post window open anyway i was talking with friends earlier that one problem that a lot of mobile games seem to have is that they use “making the game play itself” as substitute for “making the game fun to play”. the only game with autobattle functionality (out of the ones I play, i don’t know everything that’s out there of course) that I feel DOESN’T do this is arknights, where you solve the puzzle that the stage presents in order to earn the right to not have to solve the puzzle every single time you play the stage and coming up with different efficient or perhaps ridiculous ways to solve the puzzle is part of playing the game. the worst case I know is dragalia lost which upon realizing that playing it sucks implemented an item to just let you skip playing stages altogether. “this game is good because you don’t have to play it” is not the selling point some people (and devs) think it is, and fgo refuses to fall into that trap - something I believe is an intentional decision because of their explicit refusal to implement NP skip.

one big advantage that fgo has over the other mobile games i’ve played is that it’s entirely turn based with no real time elements beyond start and end times of events. fgo doesn’t NEED to continue playing itself when you look away because looking away has no bearing whatsoever on your ability to clear the quest, fgo doesn’t give a shit if you look away for six hours and then close the game and only reopen it another ten hours later, you can continue right where you left off. the problem is not that you have to manually play the quest, because as far as the system is concerned you can take as much time as you like to clear that quest, it’s that the greater structure of the game wants you to repeatedly manually clear the same low-stakes quest for disproportionately small rewards. this one’s easy enough to solve by just increasing material droprates across the board. repeat clearing a low level quest is much less frustrating if you actually get drops every other clear.

but that’s a bandaid solution, because related to the issue of having to manually farm low-stakes quests is the lack of high-stakes quests to do when you want to do something a little more engaging than routine farming. outside of event challenge quests with their time limited availability, certain main story chapters that you can’t replay, and recently on JP the permanently available kiara challenge quest in the main interlude, there simply isn’t any difficult content to play. you could argue about fgo’s merit as strategy rpg in the first place i suppose but if you ask me it does have that merit and there is a clear effort from dw’s part to improve the depth of fgo’s strategy elements, the issue is that there is simply not that much content available to unleash those strategies on. of course you’re gonna get bored if all there is to do is either brainlessly repeat the same quest for minimal rewards or play the specific challenge quest that the game hands you right this moment regardless of whether that’s the kind of challenge you feel like facing right now. the solution to this one, although it’s likely going to take some significant effort on dw’s side to implement, is to make main story quests replayable.

you want to flex your brain muscles but there’s no challenge event right now? you stomped on a boss by using overpowered servants the first time but want to challenge yourself with some 3* this time? or the other way around, you beat a boss by the skin of your teeth the first time but want to stomp all over them now that you rolled some bitching 5*? you rolled a servant that’s not that suitable for day to day farming but would really shine in more difficult content and you want to try them out? you have a silly strategy in mind that would only work against certain story enemies? you’re like me and just really crave the shimosa duels? all of this involves content that already exists and is available in the game, dw would just have to figure out a way to let you access it again after clearing the chapter. and of course ideally this extends to event story quests once they’re added to the main interlude

i guess another way to put it is that i think the reason a lot of people say fgo has bad gameplay is not that its gameplay system is actually bad, in fact it has the potential to be very engaging, but rather that it’s a system that is set up to respect your time through the ability to put down the game absolutely whenever you want without being penalised, only for the game around it to go and penalise you for putting it down anyway. if you don’t diligently spend all your ap farming this quest you won’t get single damn material drop, and if you don’t play the event while it‘s happening you’re going to miss out because you can’t be sure when if ever it’ll return. so the number one way to solve the problem of fgo’s “bad gameplay” is not to make the game play itself whenever it tells you to play, but rather to make content more easily available so you don’t have to play if you don’t want to and CAN play if you do want to. thank you for coming to my ted talk i suppose

The SWTOR Timeline for “Corellian Whiskey and Sullustan Gin” (updated February 2024)

I haven’t changed this in six months, so I think this is the final shake-out, in terms of how time works in my headcanon universe. I’ve posted this previously, but in honor of Eva’s second birthday, I figure I’d nail it all down so people can check in and figure out “why the hell is this BBY and ATC date not matching up on her fics?”

First, here’s the canon timeline from Charles Boyd

The timeline below mostly follows Boyd’s, but there have been some retcons I disagree with, since they were done years after the release of content and create problems of their own.

So, the short version as to how time moves in the SWTOR universe: there are two major timelines, one BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) that sets in context with the 9 “Skywalker” films, and BTC/ATC (before/after the Treaty of Coruscant). One of the problems with both timelines is that they are based upon events that do not occur on the calendared first day of a year – they’re relative, not absolute. Charles Boyd has acknowledged this; the game dates are skewed (a year BTC/ATC doesn’t start on New Year’s Day, essentially).

I decided to focus on the BTC/ATC timeline since that is more relevant to our SWTOR characters. I moonlight as a historian, sometimes with a military bent. Prior to the post-modern era (when we can carry out warfare whenever and wherever), there was a set time of year for military campaigns and wars. For the Northern Hemisphere, that typically took place from after the heavy rains of spring to the first frost (roughly, the Roman Tubilustrium and Equus October). The height of that season took place in June and July.

As posited in my previous timeline, I suggest that the Sack and successive Treaty of Coruscant happened roughly midyear. The event starts year 0 for our in-game characters. Both Star Wars dating systems have a year 0, unlike our BCE/CE calendar.

Below the cut is my timeline of SWTOR history. I’ve laid out BTC/ATC year and then its associated BBY year, since most of the rest of Star Wars runs on that system. (Since it was a space battle, the Battle of Yavin could have taken place at any time, unaffected by weather, so it is feasible it happened in the first month of a year.) I’ve taken some major hints from Boyd’s timeline in June 2020 that appeared on the SWTOR forums, but rejected others. He has said it was meant to be a broad guide, and it does have some wiggle room. Basically, this timeline stays within a year of Boyd’s, with some notable differences at a few key points.

Note: exact dates regarding the Corolastors, Gronn, and Darmas Pollaran are completely headcanon. I’ve italicized headcanon ideas about canon characters/events. I’ve bolded known issues with the timeline that multiple people have commented upon.

Smugglers run in Eva’s blood, from the beginning. Her grandmother Dyominia was one; her lover was an imperial admiral who’d clawed his way to the top predominantly through his skills as a fighter pilot and tactician.

40 BTC mid-3693 to mid-3692 -- Athene Corolastor born on her mother’s ship. Athene never met her father, but he knew of her existence. He died when she was still a child, and her mother died when Athene’s own child was very small.

38 BTC 3691-3690 –Hadrian born. He had no last name when he was given unto the Brotherhood of the Three Moons.

37 BTC mid-3690 to mid-3689 - The asset ultimately known to the Republic as Darmas Pollaran born.

28 BTC -- mid- 3681 BBY to mid-3680 BBY -- The Sith return, and young Jace Malcom and Satele Shan escape Korriban with Nico Okarr to spread the word.

The Rimma Trade Blockade gives a decisive edge to the Empire. However, the Republic takes a massive number of casualties trying to break it; when they attempted to invade the Seswenna region, one of the Imperial ships self-destructs in order to destroy supplies useful to the Republic and to do massive damage to Republic ships in the area. This gives the rest of the Imp fleet time to withdraw. The commander who gave the self-destruct order was Athene’s father. She never knows him. Dyominia is aware of his death.

Darmas’ world is spun upside down as suddenly, his father begins to take politically significant offices. “The secretary” becomes one of the first Keepers. Darmas develops a distaste for the position early; he never aspires to it.

Sometime around 22 BTC (3675-3674), Dyo dies when Athene is still a teenager. The girl sets out on her own, on their very small freighter.

21 BTC - mid-3674 - mid 3673 -- Gronn the Bounty Hunter born

20 BTC - mid-3673-mid-3672 -- Athene accidentally picks Hadrian up, and they were never parted.

16 BTC mid-3669 - mid-3668 - REDACTED

15 BTC mid-3668 - mid 3667 -- REDACTED Virtue’s Thief is acquired by Athene, used. The ship is named by Hadrian in joking reference to Athene, who….made it impossible for him to return to monk life.

14 BTC – mid 3667- mid 3666 – The Battle of Alderaan occurs in 3667. Satele Shan engages in a six month affair with Jace Malcom. About four months in, she gets pregnant. By the time she is three months pregnant, she has ended her relationship with Jace (Annihilation; Satele was not obviously pregnant when she dumped Jace.) Satele continued to fight on the battlefield until she could not; what that means to a Jedi, I don’t know.

13 BTC – mid 3666-mid 3665 – Theron Shan born in 3666 and given over to Ngani Zho to be raised. Satele continues to visit the baby until he is six months old. (The Lost Suns).

12 BTC mid 3665-mid 3664 – Corso Riggs born.(SWTOR)

11 BTC mid 3664-mid 3663 – Risha Drayen born. (SWTOR)

10 BTC mid 3663- mid 3662– Eva II Corolastor born in late 3663. Eva is not only on the run from the Republic, the Empire, and the Hutt Cartel, but also from the Three Moons religious order, since she should have been pledged to them in restitution for her father’s renouncement of his vows. This claim has devolved to the point where Eva and the Mother Superior wave to each other in passing at major space stations and the Department of Space Vehicles.

At some point, her parents acquire Huck, a modified HK-51 that is a crewhand/childminder and eventually modified by Eva herself to be a friend.

7 BTC – mid 3660 - mid 3659– Hylo Visz breaks the Mandalorian Blockade of the Hydrian Way. (SWTOR; BH story references and in-game explanation) One of Eva’s earliest memories is Hylo Visz’s great run through the blockade when she is 3. Theron is 6.

0 BTC – mid 3653 to mid 3652–The Sack of Coruscant occurs, followed by the Treaty of Coruscant shortly thereafter. Theron turns 13 after, though it is questionable when the news reaches him and Master Zho. Eva’s 10th birthday in late 3653 is celebrated in Virtue’s Thief while running dark; The Corolastors wish to avoid being caught up in the shifting galactic boundaries.

1 ATC mid 3652- mid-3651– By now, news of the Treaty of Coruscant has reached Master Zho. After a final training exercise, Zho gives up custody of Theron (The Lost Suns; this is my headcanon guess as to when this occurs. Theron is certainly an early adolescent when it happens, based on what we see in the comics.) Theron turns 14 at Haashimut. By the start of the school year, in a whirlwind of a couple of frantic months, Theron ends up at the Coronet City Military Academy. Zho disappears. Eva is 11.

By the end of 3651(unknown how early/late), Satele has "found” Tython. I personally interpret “found” as having rediscovered it. The formal ‘founding of Tython’ occurs when the Jedi start to populate the planet, so she could find Tython at the beginning of 3651 but not have it fully functional until years later, closer to 3645 when she becomes the Grand Master.

At any rate, Satele finds out belatedly that Theron has been taken to Coronet City Military Academy as a ward of the state; she had been out of comm range on her small ship when Master Till’in tried to find her to tell her. She finds the arrangement with the Academy acceptable and does not request any changes.

2 ATC mid 3651- mid 3650--- 15/12

3 ATC mid-3650- mid 3649--- 16/13 – In 3649, Theron is recruited by Marcus Trant. (Annihilation) This is an attempt to reconcile Theron’s service years and Karpinsky’s math mistake regarding Theron’s birth year. Annihilation states that Theron was a 10 year veteran of SIS by the time of its events. He destroyed the Ascendant Spear, which was AFTER the Battle of Illum, since Malgus’ disappearance is noted. Ergo, the Ascendant Spear incident could take place either in late 3640 or in early 3639 – we can suggest Theron rounds up his experience by a few months, since there is a gap between Nar Shadaa and Operation: End Game.

Hadrian’s mother was a famous burlesque dancer who gave him up due to the nature of her job; her world was not suitable for a child. However, Colette Evangeline deVine-Grandpierre never failed to correspond with her son, though her versions of stories were heavily edited to protect his innocent sensibilities. It wasn’t until after he was accidentally acquired by Athene that the full truth of his mother’s life was known to him. They got on swimmingly after that; Colette was the only grandparent that Eva ever met or remembered, and she still was a knock-out well into her later decades. She died when Eva was a young teenager.

4 ATC – mid 3649 to mid 3648 – Theron joins the SIS early start program prior to his 17th birthday, making him a 10-year veteran of SIS by 3639. He continued his education with SIS until he was 21.

5 ATC – mid 3648-mid 3647 18/15

6 ATC – mid 3647-mid 3646 19/16

7 ATC mid 3646-mid 3645 – early in this year, prior to her 17th birthday, Eva Corolastor is orphaned during the course of a convoy gone bad. Because she is known to the Republic as being over 21, she is the default heir and beneficiary of her parents. At 16, she is captain of her own ship. By year’s end, Theron is 20 and Eva is 17.

Sometime in 3645, Satele becomes Grand Master of the Jedi Order.

8 ATC – mid 3645 to mid 3644 – 21/18 (REDACTED) Huck is destroyed.

9 ATC – mid 3644-mid 3643 – 22/19

10 ATC – mid 3643 to mid 3642 – The events of Lost Suns occur in 3643, and the Prologues of SWTOR begin in the second half of 3643 (Boyd). I headcanon that after Lost Suns, Theron meets Jonas Balkar at Trant’s office for the first time, both of them having been promoted to senior agents and getting to wear their own clothes to the office rather than the (dorky) uniform.

Risha is 21; Corso is 22. and Theron is 23. Eva is 19 when she has a one-night stand with Darmas Pollaran, and the two stay in touch. She turns 20. As a belated gift, she buys herself a new bed after getting her ship back from Skavak. By mid 3642, she spaces Skavak and claims Nok Drayen’s treasure.

11 ATC – mid 3642 to mid 3641 – Eva and Darmas officially get together. They scam the Republic, posing as privateers but actually building their own smuggling empire. Eva gives up Hylo the cat because he needs a better life. That, and Darmas doesn’t like him. Hylo becomes a god on a far-flung planet at the age of 12.

12 ATC – mid 3641 to mid 3640 – in late 3640, Eva realizes that Darmas has not only played the Republic, but her too. She’s 22. The end of Chapter 2 and all of 3 run together for the Smuggler.

Sometime in 3640, Jace Malcom is promoted to Supreme Commander of Republic Forces.

13 ATC mid 3640 to mid 3639 – Busy year!

Eva goes to Ilum to detox. The Battle of Corellia takes place. The Bounty Hunter finishes his business by killing the Republic Chancellor Janarus. This results in Leontyne Saresh being elected in an emergency session of the Galactic Senate in late 3640.

In the wake of the Battle of Corellia, Eva meets Gronn (Age 34; she’s not yet 23). The Battle of Ilum occurs toward the end of 3640, beginning of 3639. After these events, the Smuggler disappears, operating Voidfleet from unknown locations across the galaxy.

After the Battle of Ilum , Theron destroys the Ascendant Spear; he is 26 (this happens either in either very late 3640 or early 3639; Annihilation indicates time passes from Theron’s vacay gone wrong on Nar Shaddaa and Jace recruiting him, so more likely 3639). Theron finds out who his biological father is (Jace Malcom) and officially meets his mother (Satele Shan) when he sneaks into her apartment on Coruscant.

From this point, things are elastic by up to a year. In June 2020, Boyd stated that Hutt Cartel was 2 years after the end of SWTOR, with content releases in 2012 being in 3639, 2013 being 3628, etc.

One flaw with that: SWTOR dropped in December 2011 and Cartel in April 2013, only 1 year and 4 month apart, not 2 years. So even though Boyd says elsewhere that time passes in SWTOR like it does IRL, his timeline states that Hutt Cartel is a full 2 years or more after the end of SWTOR and then that there is no gap between the events between KotFE and KotET. My timeline is slightly compressed in comparison to his until KotFE/KotET.

Toward the end of ATC 13 and the beginning of ATC 14, Theron does the intel for the Makeb op; this is done shortly before forces arrive so the intel is still fresh. In this foggy period in mid 3639 (straddling years 13 and 14 ATC), the Makeb op starts. Eva and Virtue’s Thief are hired by Saresh for this op. Jace and Satele see the Voidhound: Risha, not Eva.

14 ATC – mid 3639 to mid 3638 – The op on Makeb ends and Virtue’s Thief disappears again for over 8 months. Theron is occupied with the Shroud and the situation on Oricon, but he keeps his own op project alive: a raid on Korriban. In the second half of ATC 14, early 3638, Theron makes contact with the Voidhound successfully. In 3638, the Korriban raid is a success, but their association continues beyond expectations when Tython is raided as well.

15 ATC – mid 3638 to mid 3637 – Theron forgets his own birthday due to the Revanite crisis. During mid-3638, the operations of Manaan and Rakata Prime result in Theron Shan and Lana Beniko going on the run from the Revaniites. Seven months after the raid on Tython, the gang reunite on Rishi in late 3638 and after a brisk op of a few weeks. Eva turns 25. They decamp to Yavin for several months; Life Day occurs on Yavin.

In game, Forged Alliances (April 2014) started a year after the Hutt Cartel (April 2013) and 8 months before the drop date of Shadow of Revan (December 2014). The op on Rishi starts about 8 months after Tython, and they reach Yavin about a month after Rishi. I estimate the the Yavin Op would have taken about 2-3 months, going into the following galactic year BBY.

In early 3637, the Yavin op completes within a couple of months of the new galactic year. There is some exchange of mail among Eva, Lana, and Theron in the ensuing months. Theron goes dark about two weeks before Ziost, an operation that ends disastrously. Theron is suspended from SIS by the end of 15 ATC.

16 ATC – mid 3637 to mid 3636 – Theron experiences his 29th birthday while suspended; Eva attempts to visit him, but she is turned away in the interests of his career.

The Eternal Fleet attack occurs before the end of 3637. Eva is put into carbonite before her 26th birthday in late 3637. The Republic and the Empire sign treaties by the end of 16 ATC (by mid 3636).

Sometime in 3636, Saresh is voted into a second term as Republic Chancellor (given that she was voted in emergency session in late 3640/13 ATC, the proper election could have been in early 3640/12 ATC, meaning the Chancellor serves for 4 years. This is further supported when she is term limited not too long before Popsicle Time ends.

17 ATC – mid 3636-mid 3635 REDACTED. By this point, Satele has left the Republic for destinations unknown.

18 ATC – mid 3635-mid 3634 – REDACTED

19 ATC – mid 3634 to mid 3633 – REDACTED

20 ATC – mid 3633 to mid 3632 – REDACTED. Election of Madon, with Saresh as his puppeteer, occurs in 3632; Theron departs the Republic, age 33.

21 ATC – mid 3632 to mid 3631

Interestingly enough, Boyd suggests that the time in carbonite may be closer to 5.5 or 6 years, but Malavai Quinn states, on Iokath that it’s been “6 years, 8 months, and 12 days” since the Eternal Fleet incident. Even though it sounds like a bad idea, I trust Quinn here; he expresses the developers’ original intent for the timeline. Boyd stated that KotFE started in late 3631, and by early 3629 (around 12-14 months later), Iokath was happening. By his “6 years, 8 months, 12 days” statement about the Eternal Fleet incident at the start of Iokath, Quinn contradicts this; it’s much closer to 20+ months since defrost.

Essentially, Boyd has tried to retcon KotFE and KotET into one year, extending the carbonite freeze to almost 6 years. and truncating the time between KotFE and KotET to a few weeks. I disagree here; the Outlander is in carbonite for less than 5.5 years, and there is a six month gap between KotFE and KotET, as the developers originally indicated in interviews.

KotFE dropped in October 2015. I set late 3632/early21 ATC as the ‘thaw’ point for the Outlander. I’ve tried to match patch dates to chapter events.

The events of KotFe Chapters II to IX take place over a few weeks, in late 3632, then a four-month gap for star fortresses and recruiting between Chapter IX and Chapter X in early 3631 (this is the period of time between the drop of KotFE and its initial content patch).

Late 3632: Outlander is broken out. After a week on the run, Lana, Koth, and Eva make it to Odessen, where Eva is immediately put into medbay. A couple of weeks later, Theron arrives on Odessen. The platonic, professional work relationship between him and Eva lasts less than 12 hours before they’re back where they left off before Ziost (kriffing lustful idiots). Eva considers herself 26, not 31. Four months pass between Chapters IX and X.

Early 3631 – Bowdaar returns in time to help Eva and Theron destroy the Star Fortresses. Story missions Anarchy in Paradise, Disavowed, and Visions in the Dark are each a month apart; Profit and Plunder winds up less than a week after the failed op in Visions in the Dark, since we retrieve both Kaliyo and Aric. A month later, we recruit the Mandalorians and then there’s the Gemini incident.

22 ATC – mid 3631 to mid- 3630– Theron’s 35th birthday is shortly followed by the Battle of Odessen (which did drop in August/summer our time) in 3631. After the dust clears, Guss Tuno shows up alive.

According to the original developer statements, there is a six-month gap between the end of KotFE (mid 3631) and the start of KotET (early 3630). Some questioned this due to Theron making an anniversary joke late in the game if you romance him but kill Arcann. He doesn’t explicitly refer to a first anniversary, so I’m willing to buy 6 months, setting KotET’s start date in early 3630 (6 months from the Battle of Odessen, over a year since the Outlander and Theron get together and are looking toward a second anniversary). It also makes sense with the joking the Outlander and a romanced Theron do on Voss - there’s a ‘settled in’ vibe between them, indicating time has passed.

Just after KotET dropped in December 2016, there was a shake-up at Bioware and on the SWTOR team. People left, people got put into different positions, and there were several changes in the trajectory of SWTOR, including the cancellation of a third KotXX expansion. This is why Fractured Alliances and Arcann’s redemption are ... wonky.

Early to mid 3630 is characterized by the invasion of Voss, the chase for Arcann, and eventually the final fight against Vaylin. By mid-3630, Risha, Corso, Akaavi, and Mako are reunited with Eva.

23 ATC – mid 3630-mid 3629 – Finishing up of KotET. Shortly after the end of KotET (weeks, less than a month), the Iokath operation starts, not quite a full 7 years since the Eternal Fleet incident, based upon the reunion with Malavai Quinn if the Sith Warrior. This also fits in with the concern Iokath was causing during the later chapters of KotET; people wouldn’t leave a planet like that alone for long. It’s not something you wait to go back to.

The Iokath operation is lengthier than the game suggests, given the nature of a conquest of a planet and then the op that comes with it. Quinn’s date statement occurs at the beginning of the op, but there is no definitive end point, nor how long the factions are on there during the quest line itself. Additionally, I can imagine uprisings happening while Iokath is going on; the Eternal Alliance is distracted, now is the time to strike. There’s also at least 4 months between the Iokath patch drop and the Umbara patch drop.

We can pad this out in a few directions, depending on how long people think it took Theron to execute his plans on Iokath and on Odessen. Then it’s a question of how long Theron was gone. In real-time, it was 9 months, between August 2017 and May 2018. As mentioned previously, there was a lot of admin and development changes behind the scenes, and it did affect the content put out there. Nathema was supposed to end in early 2018; it ended in May 2018, just barely within the first half of the year. Also, in Fall 2018, Onslaught was thought to drop within 6 months. It was pushed back to Fall 2019. Although Boyd tries to unify the timeline, there are some issues of story pacing as a result of that.

So, that all said:

24 ATC – mid 3629 to mid 3628 – Finish the Iokath campaign and the uprisings by mid 3629 -- all seems quiet. Then the Traitor Arc begins in late 3629. Woe is us. Theron is gone for months, but less than a year -- I headcanon almost 5 months months. This includes a Life Day in 3629. Theron arrives home early in 3628 BBY after being proven to have been a double agent for the Alliance. Eva, while taking him back into the Alliance, doesn’t respond well to his marriage proposal She runs, taking 3 months of leave.

Theron and Eva reconcile just before his 38th birthday.

25 ATC – mid 3628 to mid 3627 – Ossus takes place in late 3628. Upon her return, Eva celebrates her 30th birthday on Odessen. Hearts and Minds takes place in early 3627; everyone at SIS is relieved to find out that not only is Theron still alive after all that traitor stuff, he’s loved and even married.

26 ATC – mid 3627 to mid 3626 – Onslaught and then the resolution to the Satele Shan situation. Boyd has already indicated that all of this was meant to be more condensed than it is, but due to COVID, storyline releases have been stretched out.

Building out into Shan!Baby land...and entering into highly elastic time. The pandemic sort of warped everything, and the transition from Bioware to Broadsword has also made the timeline....wonky. So this is my best guestimate right now.

ELASTIC TIME

27 ATC -- mid 3626 to mid 3625 BBY -- 32/40 -- Return to the Jedi Enclave in mid 3625.

28 ATC -- mid 3625 to mid 3624 BBY – 33/41. Legacy of the Sith Launch in early 3624. Operations on Manaan handled by Eva, and operations on Elom handled by Jedi liaison Fria Whitcord.

29 ATC mid 3624 to mid 3623 BBY -- Malgus is captured, and operations on Ruhnuk commence.

In early 29 ATC, weeks after capturing Malgus (there’s fic that explains why), Eva finds herself pregnant, despite the odds and doctors saying it would never happen post carbonite. Eva thinks it’s perfect pazaak -- highly unlikely, but possible. Theron classifies this as ‘miracle’ and tries to balance Eva’s joy with his own numerical despair about the odds of a child born to a person post-carbonite.

In late 29 ATC, Argento Shan is born to Eva Corolastor (34) and Theron Shan. (42) Theron has been in love with Eva for just shy of 15 years now.

30 ATC -- mid 3623 to mid 3622 BBY -- In early 30 ATC, The Mystics of Voss have a prophecy, and new efforts at peace on the planet start. Eva supervises activity on Voss, but her only active role is meeting with the Mystics (and bitching them out for dropping the galaxy in her lap again).

In mid 30 ATC (late 3623/early 3622 BBY) Ord Mantell becomes a hotbed of activity with the separatist activity ramping up alongside Heta Kol’s Mando activity. Eva’s maternity leave abruptly ends with the Broken Chain’s attempt to take Port Nowhere...while she’s on it. So much for a quiet mission close to home.

This marks “the present” in Game time, 7.4

32 ATC -- mid 3621 to mid 3620 BBY -- 37/45 – Dyominia Shan is born to Eva Corolastor and Theron Shan.

36 ATC – mid 3617-mid 3616 BBY – Dyo is 4, Argo is 7. Eva is 41 and Theron is 49.

45 ATC -- Eva is 50, Theron is 58. Dyo is 13, and Argento is 16.

Arthur Fleck/Joker x Reader fic

Summary: After what happened in his apartment, and even though Arthur asked you not to, you watched that night the Murray Franklin’s Show, after that night, you didn't see Arthur again in a long time, and all that time you felt melancholy and lonely, until one day, a little surprise comes to you.

“Never, my love”

The last words you’d shared with him. You remembered how fast you run in the worn wooden stairs. How you got out of that old building. So many things happened, a walk with your enemy, you witnessed of a murder, you see your best friend convert into a monster, and almost the same time, your lover.

He asked you for one thing, and you decided not do it. Remember when you came to your apartment, recharged your back against the wood, dropped to the ground and started crying in absolute silence. You passed your hand over your face, just to remember his touch. The images passed in your eyes so quickly, images of him, his face, his mouth, his green eyes. You passed almost three hours crying, so many emotions in your body, you feared your body couldn’t hold all feelings.

You remembered when after that hours you tried to calm yourself, you were on it when the phone suddenly rang. You got up off the ground and ran to this one, waiting for your Arthur to be on the other side of the line. But for your disappointment, was Gary. He, ignorant of absolutely everything that happened, asked for Arthur, for Randall and his condolences had been sent to Arthur. What could you tell Gary? That Arthur had lost his mind? that Randall was dead? You decided to protect Arthur, protect him even if his act was horrible. You said to Gary some lies, like Randall never went to the subway station, you go alone and you and Arthur talked about a lot of things. Gary said something like "I told you Y/N" and kept talking. When the talk was over, you hung up nervously.

Looked the at clock, 15 minutes before the Murray Show. Nervous and eager to watch the show, you tentatively approached your couch and turned on the TV, turned on the channel and waited anxiously. Before Murray's show there were some news, you saw about some clown protests, you couldn't believe that all this had been caused by Arthur. The news was over, Ellis Drane and his orchestra drums were played, the show started. You watched the show without interest in Murray and the others guest, you just waited until Arthur's turn came. And when he appears, you felted so happy for him, despites he appears with a new name: Joker. When you saw him, you felt so much joy, coming out of those curtains dancing, spinning, greeted the presenters, but you not really like the joke that Arthur kissed Dr. Sally. You really jealous of an old lady? Maybe.

The show went smoothly, you waited why Arthur didn't want you to watch the show. Nothing bad seemed to happen, more than Murray's mocked of Arthur with the others guests. Was it serious? Did they make fun of Arthur even on that show? You could feel the anger in your stomach. But surrender, you heard Arthur's black humor joke, which worried you, why Arthur would make jokes like that? He was scolded by Dr. Sally and Murray but he don't care about they words, and then, what you didn't expect happened: Arthur confessed his crime.

It was a huge moment of tension, from how all the joy of the show changed abruptly to a more serious and darker tone. Why would Arthur do that? Why would he confess he killed that three rich of the subway to everyone? You couldn't believe it. And that wasn't the worst. Arthur said things that had sense to you because he told you every horrible thing he lived before. Maybe no one would understand because Arthur said they were all awful, only you could understand it.

The tension between Arthur and Murray was rising, you feared that Arthur would lose control again, you tried to call the show while still watching TV, but (obviously) your call was not answered. You went back to the couch, without expecting it to happen, which could happen, and then...

Arthur pulled out that cursed gun and pointed Murray's head.

"ARTHUR NO!"

Shot.

The symphony of terror was heard, screaming from people, a one of the guests hugging a hysterical Dr. Sally, Murray's bloodied body, and Arthur dancing, then he come to the camera and saying the words:

“Goodnight, and always remember, that’s li-“

You closed your eyes, you started crying one more time. You knew Arthur had asked you, and you should have listened to him. Your heart broke again, your body trembled once more. Arthur had hurt you again.

“Y/N? Y/N? Earth to Y/N, are you in?”

You blinked; you were watching the TV of your new job. It was the news, announcing the anniversary of that terrible event.

“Yeah, sorry, I distracted a little”

“Y/N, you’re been rare those weeks, are you okay?”

“Yes, sorry Celeste, I’m gonna… Clean that”

A year passed from that event, in that year, things had changed too much. You lost your job at Ha-ha's, result that was the place where the terrible criminal Joker had come from, all the clowns in there lost their job. Hoyt was turned a rage, he was understandable, he had lost his business. Some clowns got a job at other agencies, others simply stopped being a clown and preferred to dedicate themselves to something else. You and Gary were from that second group of people. Gary decided to go back to his native Vermont, however, being a good friend to you, he managed to get you a job with some old friends. Now you worked in a small but charming cake shop.

"Celeste, Y/N, hello ladies. I'm back with the sugar and butter” Peter, another coworker from the shop, entered to the place "Well Peter! You'd better help me! Orders are delayed!" Celeste was a very kind woman, but she quickly lost the patience, Peter, who was a little older than you, just laughed and carried things. "What's the matter Y/N? Are you sad again?"

“No, I’m just… Just watching the news again”

“The news again? Y/N, watch a lot of news not good for your mental health, why don’t put the music channel or something kindlier?”

“… I can’t do that” Slowly, you turned your head to the TV again. The news said a lot of terrible crimes after that event. Most of these crimes were attributed to a single criminal: The Joker. After Murray was killed, Joker was arrested, but in the course of jail the patrol was intercepted by more clowns and Joker was free. And so, he began a terrible reign of crimes all over Gotham for a long time.

"Now, this dangerous man still free of the justice, it’s considerate a lunatic criminal, many criminalities that our poor city has suffered have been under his hand. The police can't find where this guy is hiding, who is now known as "The Clown Prince of Crime" and t-"

The Tv turned black “Peter!” You yelled.

“Sorry little princess, but this is for you, I don’t want you get sick for this. I know you get nervous of that clown, honestly, I get nervous too, but you have to continue your life, that clown not gonna go for you specifically, just the people with bad luck drop to his Clown Clan. Don’t worry Y/N, you’ll be okay”

“Peter! The sugar and butter!” Celeste screamed from the kitchen.

“Sorry Celeste! I’m coming!” Peter run to the kitchen and you still cleaned the counter. Maybe Peter was right, you shouldn’t get worry for Joker, but you don’t really get worried, you got sad, sad for Joker, because you know under the makeup and the costume, Arthur are there. You were hoping Arthur would be there. A year passed and maybe Arthur was right, maybe you’d never see him again, like he said to you.

You knew he was doing bad things, all the damage they caused him was returning ferociously, he was no longer a weak person that people could mock, he was someone that people should be afraid of, and poor of the one who scoffed him, because that someone would give it to you would end up their corpse in a Gotham blackwater canal. Just imagining Arthur dressed as a clown, like that last time you saw him, killing someone mercilessly and cruelly.

And for some reason, it didn't cause you conflict, you didn't fall into the reality of the danger he had become, you knew it wasn't your Arthur anymore, but you still loved him. Despite that horrible things he does it, you still in love with him. Of course, in that year, some boys and man tried something with you, including Peter, who wasn't giving up yet, but none of those boys were Arthur. None of them were him. And despite all the time, you still felted the butterflies in your stomach when you thought in him, you cheeks get blushed when you remembered you two almost made the love in that old bed, your lip trembled when the memory of your first kiss with him touched your soul again. Memories stalked you as if they were a ghost in your room in the dark, but a ghost you weren't afraid about.

You put your head in the counter and got a big breath, what you can do in that moment about Arthur? What can you do with your feelings? What can you do with that love that wasn’t for anyone, that love was just for him? “I’m really fucked up” you whispered to yourself.

The days after you did your work routine. You'd come to the cakeshop, make coffee for your companions and to sell too, help Celeste decorate some cakes, while Peter made other cakes and desserts. When the cakes to sell were ready, you put them in some refrigerators and you were going to serve the customers at the counter. One particular day, you were alone at the counter while Celeste was screaming at Peter for not making gingerbread man biscuits, the winter times were coming. You wanted to turn on the TV, but you knew you'd only put the news to see if there was anything new with Joker. You had to control yourself, while secretly eating a slice of cake that Peter had given you along with a rose. He was someone very meticulous, willing to win your heart, even you had kindly mentioned to him on previous occasions that you weren't interested in being someone's girlfriend. Well, only one person, but it was definitely out of your reach.

The bell above the front door rang. You saved the cake quickly, you didn't want Celeste to yell at you, even though she never done it before. But wasn't a customer, was a delivery man. “It’s the lady Y/N working here?”

“Yes, I am”

“Well, this is for you” You poked your head out of the corner just to find with a huge bouquet of …

“Lilies? That’s are a Lilies?! I love the lilies!” You went straight to the delivery man and took the bouquet with your hands. You are blushed again. At this point, Celeste realized what was going on and ran away, excited that you had received flowers. Peter only watched the scene from afar. You thanked the delivery man and he just left.

“Oh! Y/N! Look at you! What a beautiful bouquet! And your smile! Wait, I have here my camera! Wait Y/N!” Celeste runs for her camera. You still watching your flowers, your eyes were full of charm. Celeste returned and took you a lot of pictures, asking you to pose near the cakes and desserts.

“Take it! All for you Y/N! Oh my god, I hope that boy who sent you these flowers has won your heart” Celeste gave you all the polaroid, a burning smell made her remember that she had left a couple of cupcakes in the cooker and ran into the kitchen. You and Peter were alone.

"Well, this is a beautiful detail, lilies have always been my favorites"

"So, my little princess, that mean I have a rival and he’d basically beaten me this time?"

“Rival? Wait, wasn’t you?”

“No. I’m a man of roses, I never thought in lilies. Well, I hope that riv-“ Celeste claim help of Peter, he had no choice but to follow his boss's orders. When Peter left the place you wondered to yourself, Peter wasn't the one who sent you those flowers? Even if it had some logic, since you never told him that lilies were your favorite flowers. You tried to remember the boys and men who tried to conquer you, and none of them you had mentioned that lilies were your favorite flowers. Then you remembered the only man you told that little piece of you.

That’s Impossible. You thought, because that’s true, that's impossible. He’s now a criminal, a bad man, even some press said he was a terrorist. And all that they said about him was on your knowledge, because you witnessed one of his first crimes. Of course, he wouldn't have time to do something like that, you even thought maybe he'd consider that cheesy. Actually, you thought he had already forgotten you.

You looked at your flowers, you went for a little vase that only accumulated dust, washed it and put water in it, so your flowers could hold out a little longer before taking to home. You looked in for a note that indicated who would have been the secret admirer, but there were no clues. Knowing you wouldn't have your answer, you back to work.

That night, you left a little late for work, said goodbye to Celeste and Peter, and walked to your house, the job was closer to your house, you didn't have to run like on previous occasions when you worked at Ha-ha's. However, you turned a corner where street lighting failed, looking very scary. You walked a little further, looking everywhere, making sure no one came near you. You hated having to go down that street. Fortunately, nothing bad happened that time.

You arrived safely home, you put your beautiful lilies in a vase. You had that silly smile on your face. No Y/N, it can't be him. You thought for yourself. He's now busy in... Another kind of thing. I don't think he remember you. Those words, no matter than they sounded, were full of reason. But you gave yourself the little luxury of thinking in him, imagining that he actually sent you those flowers and that he would soon come back to you. Just imagine, but no more illusions.

The next day, you did the same thing every day, but there was a special glow this time in you. Celeste, your boss, noticed. "My God Y/N, you look so radiant and so happy, I'd love to meet your lovely prince to congratulate him," she said excitedly as she put some chocolate cookies and gingerbread man cookies in a basket, you just laughed. When Celeste came back to the kitchen, Peter came up to you.

"I'd also like to meet that charming prince who has you delighted. Looks like he wants to make your days sweeter."

Laughing, you went to the cookie basket and took one of the gingerbread man cookies in your hands, smiling foolishly.

“Well, I don’t think he’s a prince charming, Actually, I don’t like the concept of prince charming”

“No? And what you like?”

You watched TV at the time, one more news of Joker, just in that moment, a picture of him came out on screen, with that wicked but charming smile.

“Another kind of prince" You bit the cookie along with a smile.

You didn't even know if it was him, but as the days went on, the delivery man with more lilies returned to you, Celeste became exaggeratedly happy and Peter gradually realized that he was not going to achieve his goal of you falling in love with him. Of course, he wouldn't, he even stopped calling you “Little princess" like he once in a while, and being honestly, you hated how he dubbed you that way. Things were going well in your life, for the first time in a long time, but soon, everything would take an unexpected turn for you.

One night, coming home with another bouquet of lilies in your hands, you'd come out of the elevator to head to your apartment, only to find another surprise at your doorstep: Another bouquet of flowers, but they were not lilies or roses, it was a Bouquet of artificial flowers that came out of a magic wand. And you knew that magic wand perfectly. You took it with your free hand, in this bouquet if there was a note, and there was only one letter: J. Your senses trembled with that note. Immediately you entered the apartment, however, there was nobody.

You were impressed, would it be him? Would he come back for you? You didn't know, and it would be best if he got out of hiding once and for all. You were getting too excited about his return. Or maybe he wanted to let you know he was okay. But your heart inflated like a balloon again, and you were floating in love. You did your nighttime bedtime routine before you went to sleep, but instead of wearing your usual pajamas, you wore a short nightgown in a silk robe, something inside you said you had to wear it. You sat in your bed, waiting for that "something" that had to happen, but while you waited, you fell asleep soundly.

Knock knock

“Huh?” You heard someone knocking, quickly you get out of the bed, stumbling, because the knocked of the door sounds more and more louder. “Coming!” You yelled and before to open the door you looked at the clock, who would be knocking on your door at 1 A.M.? Without looking through the peephole, you opened the door, and you could swear that your heart stopped for a few seconds.

“Hello Y/N”

“…A-Arthur?”

He was there, in your door, with his green hair, that elegant clown suit, that clown makeup, breathing deeply, and with his pretty smile. Arthur was there, converted in Joker.

“It’s been a very long time, don’t you think?”

You didn't know what to answer, because again you speechless. You just opened the door more, implying he could get into your apartment, and so he did. You closed the door slowly, not knowing what to do say. Arthur was back in your life, your suspicions (or rather desires) would come true, and you didn't know how to react. You must have been angry about leaving you and becoming a dangerous criminal? Or smile at him, thank him for coming back and giving him a warm welcome?

“Oh, I see you received all my little gifts, your house looks so adorable with that lilies, you like it Y/N?” Arthur said when he was seeing all the bouquets you received in every little place of your apartment. He noticed you don’t say nothing and he worried, no longer smiling. Without words to said, you looked at his face, you felted like in one of that dreams you had when you miss him.

“W-what are you doing here?” You asked something frightened, fearing that all of that was really a dream. But it wasn't, Arthur was just next to you, or how he called himself now, Joker. He was a little skeptical of your question, doubting if he should answer it or not, because he did not know how to explain his sudden appearance.

“Oh… Well… It’s… It’s complicated to explain” He giggled nervously, and you don’t understand why “I… Just want to see you, but also, I got in a trouble too…”

“Wait, what?” shaking your head, you suddenly get confused “What you want to say, you’re in danger?”

“No exactly that, if were like danger, I would have looked for another hiding place. I just… Running of the police…”

“Oh…” You felt a little confused. Your mind thought of something that immediately hurt your feelings, He only come back to you just to hide? For a moment you believed he was actually there for you. You were always trying to see the good side of things, but this time it was impossible. Your sad face was evident instantly, but you separate yourself from him and turned your back on him before he could notice your disenchantment “I-I think you can stay here, while the cops, well, you know, stop looking you or something” You hated yourself because in this time you couldn’t hiding your emotions, your broke voice ratted you and he perceived it.

“Y/N, are you okay?” Arthur asked when he walked to you, put himself in front you, so, he could see how you tried to hiding your face to him. “Y/N? What happens baby?”

“Everything… Everything happened Arthur… It’s just… Strange to me this”

“Strange? Why you say that?”

“Because… I don’t know… I-I just to think you won’t back again after you converted in Joker… I mean, I always heard about you in the news for all crimes you committed, and I really thought you don’t remember me, but you’re… you’re here again and… Oh, what the hell I’m talking? I’m sorry, this is stupid” You felt silly, more when the tears started to fall on your cheeks. You tried to step aside, but Arthur stopped you

“Hey Y/N, come here” He immediately hug you, and you couldn’t hold it, you broke in tears in his chest while he caressed your head and neck. You could feel his body against yours, you could feel his arms start to surround you, you could even hear his heart beating. It was real, so real. Definitely that wasn’t a dream. “I know, I know I was so away from you, I know I did some bad things, a lot of horrible things. I didn't want you to be related to me, both police and some enemies I've got” While the tears run out of your eyes, you still hugged him tighter.

He whispered in your ear “You want to hear a secret?" You nodded and Arthur took your cheeks "There was no day I didn't stop thinking about you. I missed you Y/N; you can’t imagine how much I missed you. I just wanted to protect you, that’s all, protect you..." Suddenly his voice weakened in the last word and his eyes stopped staring at you. Now it was your turn to worry about him.

“Arthur?”

“I said I wanted to protect you, but… Always want to protect you I hurt you, in some way I did it… Fuck…” You felted his body shaking while he put his face in your shoulder “I’m so sorry Y/N…”

“Arthur… You… Don’t be sorry, please… It’s okay, I swear it’s okay” You can’t stop to hug the each one, slowly, you smelled the scent of his hair, was the same scent you knew perfectly “You know what? I missed you too, God, you don’t have idea…”

“Long year, right?” You two shared a laugh. You took his hands and looked him in the eye, acting like a girl really in love with her boyfriend, because that's what you were, a girl in love with her boy. You led him to the couch and both sat down, you two had so many things to say to each other.

“What did you do this time for the cops to be looking for you?"

“Eh, nothing special, I just wanted to do something little, nothing that could hurt anyone”

“But what you did it?”

“I wanted to rob a jewelry store” Blinked, you laugh a little. He seconded the laugh.

“Why you want to steal a jewelry store?”

“Well, the other day I looked a pretty necklace, I swear it, that necklace was white with a little gem that looked like a drop, I observed it and I think of you. I said “This is for Y/N”, obviously I want more for you, but this one was special, this necklace was for you. I wanted to took it for our reunion. I was planned all, but the cops ruined all my plans”

"What were your plans Arthur?" You asked full of curiosity, you wanted to know how was the mysterious plan of Arthur to come back to you.

"Oh... Well, I wanted to do something that surprised you. It wasn't easy to find you after Ha-ha's closed, I looked for you in everywhere place of all Gotham, and after a lot I found you. I wanted to go into that cake shop where you work, ask you maybe a couple of desserts to taste them later, give you that beautiful necklace that I'm sure will look beautiful on your neck and take you with me"

“W-What?”

“You heard it. I want you; I want you with me, I only thought in you this year. I decided you'd come with me, but I didn't want to put you at risk, that’s why I take my time, but everything isn't ready yet, I still can't take you with me. I have to fix a couple more things to make you completely safe."

Arthur said it with great emotion, because it was what he had waited for so long, he wanted to take you to his place, protect you in his own way from Gotham's adversity, he knew better than anyone how cruel and terrible crime could become in the city and did not want you to be part of those figures that the press used to

I’d say it’s always boil down to what you really need the most in your party? A particular class like Saber, Caster, Extra Classes? Or more of, DPS, Tank and Healer? If you’re going for husbando/waifu, again, all the following above are irrelevant and just grind for QP. Because raising a waifu/husbando isn’t cheap

I’ll put the rest under the cut for Servants (sort by classes), numbering are based on what I used most or feels good which is debatable before anyone starts murdering me. And also some I have yet the chance to try because they are not home for me after rolling/i didn’t pick them at all

Sabers:

ST NP:

Lancelot

Yagyu Munemori & Rama

Diarmuid Saber

Papalot will always be my number one no matter who says, and been saving my ass in both FGO JP and NA. His own skill alone is summary of enjoying hearing him crit his enemies to death. With support like Tamamo and Castoria, he makes the pain twice as fun :D

Unfortunately for all his attacks, he’s your glass canon. So you don’t have either of the two support or just any support in general, he’s going to die ASAP. Munemori’s 2nd and 3rd skill are a headache with them being mixed together, especially that Evade + increase attack

Munemori is the one I feel should actually be on par very closest to Lancelot with both sharing the same NP type. In terms of surviving longer, this old swordsman is your choice. But in terms of consistent attack, it’s Lancelot.

Oh my sweet Rama, while I’m sorry DW is a dick in putting your wife in Arcade (BECAUSE FUCK YOU DW, THAT’S WHY). You’re worth to grind and have on par with Munemori. So far in LB whether or not having any Demon enemies, his damage especially on crit is as good as Lancelot. But unortunately, this skill is a one-time effect, so need to know when to make use of that burst to kill your Boss. Lastly, he’s got the Guts in terms of own survival kit.

As much as a husbando you are my dear Diarmuid... You’re also fucking expensive in terms of grinding 180 stakes to raise you. NP damage is good which is unfortunately held back that your defense buff removal comes AFTER dealing damage to your enemy. He’s more in need of a good support like Skadi to put him to his fullest potential (or heck hell you might as well take Caesar since he does better than him being in the same NP quick category)

AOE NP:

Artoria Alter

Siegfried

Suzuka & Nero

Gawain

Artoria Alter being first aside story-locked, her damage output for me is the highest among all I have used just using her skills alone. But may or not need strengthening to upgrade Intuition, have her more crit-based attack? (dude, everyone getting their intuition replaced.)

Siegfried ranked higher to me because he’s still hits hard enough in my opinion to replace AOE saber that I don’t have such as Artoria Alter in JP. However, he’s still easily replaceable once you got better AOE Sabers. And, you’ll still want him in some event and main story mobs where dragon-type enemies show up.

Compared the two above after using Suzuka, she’s definitely ranked third with lower NP damage. Charm, well, may or not work but LB debuff immunity is saying otherwise for all male servants. But her skill of generating her own stars help her in criting and gaining NP slightly more faster.

For Nero’s case, she’s more on survivalist skill thanks to her 3 times Guts skills. Arts AOE NP Saber are limited until you get budget Jason next year which, yeah, Jason works better than her if you want NP damage. Her attack boost is based on RNG probably either want to love or have hate sex with you to get that buff out. Again, if you want more of surviving long duration fights in LB thanks to break bars, she’s your good choice.

While Gawain is story-locked issue too, he’s heavily reliant on his skills. Which those skills are also can be highly reliant on field to be Sunny before strengthening. But charging of NP will take a long while with his current deck set, so you’ll need a better support or AOE Saber to do the work

Support:

Chevalier D’eon

If you haven’t grinded Georgios or Leonidas, they are your best replacement for tank support. The two I mentioned will do a far more better job than D’eon, aside wanting their NP to debuff.... Which unfortunately also not that useful in current LB difficulty, too many servant bosses are putting up debuff immunity.

Archer:

Chiron

Tomoe Gozen

Emiya Alter

Tristan

Chiron-sensei as per his lore is more of a support due to his skills revolving mainly in supporting your party. Castoria and Tamamo may or not fix with his damage output but you definitely want that remove defensive buff which comes BEFORE dealing damage at your Boss enemy.

Tomoe’s burn debuff makes her one of Arjuna Alter’s best friend if you’re aiming for him in the future. But aside from that, her skills are quite generic of attack + np damage buff, crit gather and drop (lacking of crit dmg to make her good on her own right) and guts to survive. However she isn’t story-locked, so if you can wait for her to spook...

Emiya Alter: I haven’t tried what’s the changes aside increased in damage output with Castoria. But he’s more of a staller in removing enemy gauge by 1 and if you have those annoying enemies with tons of defense buff, he’s your Servant against to fire a hole in them. Only issue his normal version Evade and star drop rate is gone and replace with a defense buff, so may or not need support to keep him alive

For Tristan I didn’t put him high because if you have David, he’ll do a more slightly better job than him? Reliant on Skadi if you have her to boost his damage for NP, which... If you’re doing NP charge from his skill, do remember he has that unfortunate debuff of NP seal that blocks him from using NP during or not the same turn. Though if you’re getting him to complete your Knights of Round Table Servants collection urgently and not caring about gameplay, go ahead :D

AOE NP:

Mama Emiya

Atalante

Now that’s my mom who raised me :D But anyway, Emiya’s investment especially 2 years later with that one last NP strengthening, he’s a nightmare of Arts AOE Archer once Castoria joins into the party. Right now before strengthening, he still crits hard in single attacks with his own star generation + also having evasion to survive.

Without Skadi especially, Atalante both damage output of normal and NP is very weak. Her NP more or less served as a function to gain a one-time burst of 60+ stars. But if you have Skadi and your friend support does, then get her for one of your Quick Archer Servant farming if you don’t have her.

Lancer:

Li Shuwen

Vlad III EXTRA

Medusa Lancer

Li Shuwen will be one of decent choice Arts Crit Lancer before Kagetora kicks in next year. A good burst of his NP helps to kill your enemy Boss ignoring that he also have a instant death NP. Though said burst is relying on both 1st and 3rd skill which... they should have just kept either one (preferably ignore invincibility) and pointless for them to stack. 2nd skill however is ok with your evasion to survive and increase star gather rate.

Vlad III EXTRA’s NP... Pretty much gonna see more Evil Servant in the future so he’s good to keep around. And that ignore invincibility is good until DW being a dick and put Archer Servant with Solemn Defence in the future LB. Despite lacking skills to survive, he has his own HP recovery that also buffs his defense and attack. And a decent taunt if you haven’t got Leonidas ready, for 1 turn. Though damage output you’ll need support like Merlin to increase.

Maybe just me without Skadi, Medusa Lancer ranked low due to her damage output. But having Skadi will increase her rank with 1 skill keep her alive (invincibility + guts), 1 skill to stall (charm and provided it’s male servant), and 1 last skill for one-time burst in attack.

AOE NP:

Parvati & Artoria Alter Lancer

Elizabeth Bathory

Nezha

Artoria Alter Lancer being another Servant who like her Saber, does well in her AOE NP damage. And a good debuff of NP seal to stall + def buff ignore damage. However trying to gain NP for her is problematic if you don’t have support like Merlin to do so.

Parvati will be one of the many Servants recommended to have if you’re going for Double Skadi farming. She’s got good NP refund and good support to other Servants. But make sure your Skadi or support having a star generator CE to get her loop going.

Like Parvati, you’ll need Valkyire if you already got the former for double Skadi farming. She’s more on a defensive in surviving if not use for farming, and definitely Skadi regardless to improve her damage performance. Beside that, her NP is applied with good buff such as ignore evasion and instant death for demonic enemies (excluding them working on enemy Servants)

If you’re aiming for Castoria next two years, Fionn is one of the Servants to invest for farming. And latest strengthening has upgrade to give more of NP charge to himself and your party. His own NP buff to mental debuff immunity is good to prevent him from being stun like charm, etc. However if you’re in need of Rare Prism and any other reason or so, feel free to burn him.

Elizabeth doesn’t rank high since she’s more support and debuff oriented Servant than damage. Support being attack that gives additional boost to female servants and debuff lower defense and curse. Unless you’re urgent to complete your Eli-chan collection, she’s not in a hurry to get and can spook anytime.

While Nezha has a good skill kit of own Quick + Buster buff, increase star weight and remove debuff, and guts + NP charge.... Most of her skills are best used if they are at max level. And even at max level, her low NP damage isn’t that a viable choice with better AOE NP Servants above be it farming or attack.

Rider:

None of the above

This is the only rare case I really don’t recommend getting, especially mary and anne. The two are definitely meant to be glass canon which unlike Hijikata, there’s no guts for them to survive if you want to utilize their NP at its fullest. Welfare and 3 star like Ushiwakamaru and Ryouma, Mandricardo in the future does a better job than her.

AOE NP:

Marie

In terms of damage output among the 3 Riders, Astolfo hits hardest and also perfectly compatible with double Skadi farming. Has 2 rank up on strengthening their NP and 3rd skill to improve farming performance. However outside farming, they definitely still need Skadi to keep that performance.

Martha is one of the more recommended Servants when it’s come to Challenge Quest. Mainly her instant team debuff removal and enemy buff removal targetable, and additional healing. Damage output may be easily fix with Merlin and Waver to deal more. But, as of now her status whether being useful is debatable as most LB debuff on your team are permanent thus rendering her to rank lower.

Despite sharing the same NP type, Marie ranks lower using more of a support for herself and her allies on her damage. Her NP buffs while it’s provide good support, it can easily be replaceable with either Jeanne, Merlin, Waver, etc. But if you’re not concern for her and already got Astolfo, you can still get her to invest on Quick farming. Or raise Medusa who could do about the same like Astolfo...

Caster

ST NP

Queen Sheba

Circe

Sheba while story locked, she fits well in both support and own DPS of herself for CQ and in LB. NP damage may be concern but having Tamamo and Castoria will makes up for it, especially in surviving for long fights. Her excellent NP gain with good crit buff helps her to refund NP easily for spam.

Circe while provide good support (debuff removal and star gather) and debuff (poisoning AOE), she ranked lower from a few things. One being very bad NP gain (if your NP charge skill on CD), low NP damage which can be compensated with good support, and debatable stun NP effect. If you already have Xuangzang or Caster Shuten, you’re better off with them.

AOE NP:

Nursery Rhyme

Helena

Thomas Edison

Nitocris ranking top for her being the best farming Servant to have, and remained that spot with now Castoria boosting her damage. NP Charge skill at full 100% when needed, increase death chance (can be RNG and not effective with some enemies) and Guts + Buff removal making her a Servant recommended to have. And of course being the best.... You’re gonna need to offer her 180 bones of your dead enemies to upgrade her skills to the max, making her one hell of an expensive material grinding Servant to have.

Caster Gilgamesh with wisdom now considered one of the recommended Arts Support Caster if you don’t have Tamamo or Castoria. While damage can be lacking, his NP debuff of lowering defense helps your other Arts DPS to crit to death thanks to his skillset. Despite that, he still additional support and composition which preferably best work when the team deck in total has higher percentage of Arts cards.

When paired with the right team, Nursery can be one of the good damage dealing and staller for AOE Caster. The latter however is RNG dependant which praying it works in your favor. She also have good NP refund and self-charging with her skill making her easily spamming her NP. But she’ll need good support to boost her damage and star generation to utilize her.

If you still haven’t gotten Waver and willing to wait for that SSR ticket in the future, she’s your alternative with all cards type buff, 20% NP gauge charge and own crit star generator. NP deals good damage, which further improve with either Tamamo and/or Castoria. However, many may turn away of choosing her because of notorious long skill cooldown even at max level. Also if friend support already got your main 4 or now 5 support of Caster, you’re better off with other Servants unless you want her for farming.

Thomas gonna need his strengthening to increase his rank here, mainly that 1st skill to reduce skill cooldown which is targetable. While his NP and normal damage is weak, he makes up by being the best stalling support (provided no debuff immunity), having skill seal, NP seal to stall enemy Servant. 3rd skill of his provide a good buff to your main DPS to overcharge their NP level. And, also being a story-locked servant some may consider getting him if you can accept the long cool down (2nd skill at 10 turns CD on max level) on his skill.

Support

Medea Lily

If you’re wondering who is the White Mage/Healer in this game, that would be Medea Lily. Pure healing + Debuff removal and now a targetable buff removal resist? That’ll be her where many sought her in Challenge Quest. But her skillset is overshadowed easily by your Top 5 Caster (Merlin, Waver, Skadi, Tamamo & Castoria) who can do those said job if not better than her.

Assassin:

Yan Qing & Emiya Assassin

Wu Zetian

Carmilla

Chiyome

Yan Qing while I put him first, he can easily replaceable with Jack who does better star generation. Or pair them to generate even more stars while you watch them burn your potato phone. His recent skill upgrade increase his damage making him more usable in fights, but will still need Skadi to invest him well.

Emiya Assassin, with good NP damage buff like Ignore Defense + Invincibility and NP drain, own Arts buff, and targetable taunt, he’s one of the recommended Servants for Arts DPS with Castoria when she’s out. And especially needing Castoria because of his horrible Arts card NP generation... If you got Shiki who’s doing better along with Hundred face Hassan, you’ll want them for damage and own survival kit.

Wu Zetian would be in line with Kiritsugu if not better for damage, but is heavily reliant on her Imperial Privliege RNG to work with her. Skadi support and buff removal NP makes her one of the recommended Assassin Quick NP DPS to pick if you’re lacking..

Carmilla is low rank while despite having good NP gain, charge and own healing with a staller..... You’re better off having other Servants like Wu Zetian. Or even Jack who does more better than her on the Anti-female damage.

Chiyome definitely her low damage despite NP spam and charge, make her least wanted for SR ticket. Even NP seal can be ineffective with those having debuff immunity, which many other Assassins are doing their job including the 3 stars one.

AOE NP:

Katou Danzo

While waiting for Gray next year, Danzo is your currently only 4* Assassin with more on the support side. Having both targetable evasion and invincibility, she can keep either DPS or support Caster against enemy on their attacks and NP. AOE damage may not be boost a bit with the help from said support caster, unless your enemies are demon to work against.

Support:

Stheno

Aside additional Rare Prism to exchange, Stheno acts more of a support if you want to challenge yourself with a Divine Servant theme in CQ, etc. She along with Gorgon Sister are known for their notorious Charm Lock in CQ, and NP now easily spammable to remove buffs on enemy. Stheno together with Euryale is why Gawain is having nightmare every night ever since his humiliating defeat in Camelot. But in terms of damage output, you definitely want alternative Servant than her. And support wise, you’re also better off with others if you’re not that into Divine team routine.

Berserker:

ST NP:

Heracles

Penthesila

Beowulf

Atalante Alter

Ibaraki

Aside being bias because that’s my boy I raised and grailed him, Heracles will be your number 1 must have Servant to have for all Master. One of the best surviving Servant for long fights, may need a little boost from support Caster. His investment to get Bond 10 will be a long while but will definitely be worth it once achieved. Now, with the latest strengthening his Guts Skill and own CE makes him the monster on why Lancer ga Shin Da and Emiya in Saber Route one of a nightmare to fight with.

Penthesila while ranked second despite lacking of Greek Males (doesn’t include Achilles avoiding her), she provide a good Buster support for all team, own NP charge and debuff immunity for herself that brings out a high NP damage. However, without Merlin... She’ll die before finding and killing Achilles.

I swear to god DW has a grudge against you, Beowulf. But hey, after his strengthening next year, good bye intuition, hello Inspired Hero that increased crit damage and gather rate! If you’re looking for a more general damage unlike Penth, he’s your boy. High NP damage and Guts to keep him in the game longer, but requires support to boost NP gain and normal damage.

Like many other Quick Servants, Atalante Alter is Skadi compatible. A ST NP with staller and curse debuff, her own crit generation, gather and damage allow her to produce good NP damage. Yet like all Berserker she falls harder in terms of glass canon like lacking of survival skills. Her critical dmg is hard to maintain with her 1st skill merely providing her a one time burst.

Probably the one Servant who fits truly as a glass canon is Ibaraki, NP damage can be comparable with Heracles, Penth and Beowulf. Removing own debuff and enemy buff is a good thing, but defense buff alone may not save her from enemy Servants who hits the poor banana like a truck. NP gain may also need boost from support due to her triple BBB in her deck.

AOE NP:

Lancelot Berserker

Frankenstein

Tamamo Cat

The most recommended yet also possibly need additional whaling is Lancelot Berserker. The moment Skadi appears, he’s on the top list of having in party to do farming. Own NP create large amount of sum and massive crit boost helps to refund NP. But, without Skadi and needing NP2 at least, he’ll be ranked lower.

Frankenstein will be your alternative to berserker Lancelot if you already have him. But like Berserker Lancelot, you’ll need Skadi to do the looping. Her own NP Damage boost and increase gain helps for the loop, but unfortunately you’ll need Servant with debuff removal to remove her stun after using her NP. Aside farming....You’re gonna want other Servant to save her from getting killed within few turns.

Tama Cat aside being one of Chaldea main cook, she’s more utilized for farming after abusing poor Waver and Caster support. And poor Waver everyone will have to do their best to protect Tama Cat who took a few turns of napping (stun) after using her NP. Beside that, she does provide an RNG of NP drain and own defense and attack boost. However other than farming, you’re better off with other AOE Servants for survival.

Avenger:

Situational between Gorgon or Hessian Lobo

Because a Ruler enemy is very rare to find aside coming LB3 without mention spoilers on who, it’s more or less situational. Do you want for the sake of it? Want to do your own CQ rules to experiment against? If so, AOE or ST NP?

AOE being Gorgon where she got a a decent AOE NP Damage with a stun but definitely need support to survive (guts may not be sufficient) and star generation. She’s also story-locked which if you want to get her before Babylonia, might as well do so.

Hessian Lobo is compatible with Skadi and alternative if you don’t Avengers like Jeanne Alter. Good crit gather for 3 turns with Skadi or any other Servants provide star generation. NP damage has own boost of ignore evasion and additional crit damage, excluding your instant death. While having buff removal is one and atk decrease, your death resist is still ineffective on enemy Servants boss.

Saito Hajime is yet another 4-star Arts Saber, a niche that is quickly becoming very full, so there is a lot of competition. Just like his appearance, Saito is pretty unassuming at first, but has a lot of potential in the right team. Starting with his fundamentals, they aren't great. His stats are good, having solid HP and ATK, which is pretty typical of the Saber class. His NP generation is much less noteworthy, and despite his QAABB kit, the low NP generation on his Arts hurts Saito. His best NP generation chain is actually his AAQ chain, generating 30% of his NP gauge, which is equivalent to his AQA chain, but it also generates 2 more crit stars. His crit star generation is also another sore point: despite his 4 hit Quick, he only has one and won't generate a lot of crit stars on his own. This isn't uncommon for Arts Sabers though.

His first skill, Freely Drawn Sword, is very good, providing two decent buffs on top of a 20 crit star bomb, and on a good cooldown as well. The Arts boost will help his NP generation slightly, but the primary reason to use this is the 20 crit star bomb. This means its best timed when Saito has a Brave chain coming up, for reasons that will become apparent. Saito can have as much as 32 crit stars going into a Brave chain, giving him a pretty solid chance to crit durign the next turn. His second skill is an Evasion skill with a very weak defense buff, anyone who knows about Eye of the Mind True knows that its just a hard survival skill. It's good for that reason alone, but not an especially noteworthy skill, and has no real synergy in his kit.

Invincible Sword is a pretty powerful skill that synergizes better than you might expect. A 30% Attack buff and a massive crit damage buff, this works great with his star bomb on a Brave Chain. Since he can't consistently make crit stars, it makes for a great bit of burst damage. That crit turn will also help to ramp up his NP generation.

His NP, Mugyo, is pretty solid. It's a ST NP, reduces Arts resistance before dealing damage, and reduces critical hit chance for 3 turns. His NP will typically refund about 22%, ignoring overkill, and his NAA chain will generate 54%, or 79% with crits ignoring overkill. That's pretty solid and means that Saito will naturally access two NPs generally pretty quickly on his own. Of course, if you've gotten to this point, you've probably come to the conclusion that Saito is a burst damage Arts Saber, focusing on crit damage, which actually isn't very noteworthy among his archetype. Lancelot will definitely outdamage him over the course of a couple of turns, Munemori has better NP generation and synergistic effects, and Hokusai does a lot more NP damage while having scaling crit damage.

But let's take a few moments to look at his NP in more detail. At base, his NP generation sits at 5.32%. Why is this notable? It's sits pretty squarely between Tomoe Gozen and Jason, two of the Arts AoE Sabers. Compare that to Yagyu Munemori's 3.24%, Beni-enma's 2.80%, Summer Medb's 4.32%, Hokusai's 3.44%, or Dioscuri's 4.08%. Saito has the highest base NP generation on his NP, on par with the AoE Arts Sabers that are known to be able to loop, although they typically need a little bit of added help.

Saito cannot loop with just the Double Castoria System, although he can get pretty close and can do it with an additional Arts. However, Saito does loop with the addition of a Paracelsus, and this marks being one of the only Arts Sabers who can loop effectively, along with Summer Medb. With a Level 100 Black Grail, and Level 10 skills throughout, a Double Castoria plus Paracelsus system will loop Saito's NP with only two hits of overkill on a Lancer, or in terms of practical numbers, any Lancer with less than 357,000 HP, and that's at NP 1. Against a Berserker, he can do it with a Level 100 Sign of Smiling Face and 4 hits of overkill, or any Berserker with less than 110,000 HP. That's a lot more situational and probably would just useful against some story and event bosses, but the fact that it is even possible is very noteworthy. Even if you miss the loop point, his Arts cards will generation around 30 to 35% of his NP gauge with full support line-up and any CE, so he can quickly pick it back up.

And if you're so F2P inclined, a Level 100 Royal Icing allows Saito to loop with just one hit of overkill, or a Lancer of 353,000 HP. Very slightly less optimal. I'm pretty sure this isn't with Overkill bug either, given that there should probably be more hits of overkill here. Unfortunately I'm not doing those calculations manually.

One final note: an MLB Art of the Poisonous Snake let's you loop without overkill, letting you take on any Lancer! Your damage will be worse though, so keep that in mind.

Saito sits at a very interesting spot. He's very team reliant, probably more than the other Arts Sabers, but he benefits the most from it and has one of the best ceilings, comparatively, of any Arts Saber. If you have the tools to make him work, he'll very easily a very strong Arts Saber, and better than the grand majority of Arts Sabers in the game, possibly only really rivaled by the 5-star Dioscuri and Beni-enma. But without a dedicated Arts team, he's going to be much less impactful than most of the Arts Sabers. It's a position that exists mainly because he's the only one, ignoring Medb, who can very easily loop out of the bunch, which makes most of his viability dependent on that.

And I mean, he loops easier than Medb and does more damage. So it's not a fair comparison there either.

hi hnk anon! im using this second ask of yours because its shorter, and putting your other one under the readmore to answer more extensively! X)

Okay. So I just got through the prologue, and I have a few things to say.

1. I’ve only had mash kyrielight for a day and a half, but if anything happened to her I would kill everyone in this and then myself!

youre absolutely RIGHT shes such a good girl! i love her and she only gets better and better as the same goes on! speaking of ‘better’ as it goes on, the game starts kind of slow? okay, so- the company that started fgo unsupervised, and they were making a cash-grabby game with less effort than it deserved... around the fourth singularity, though, nasu, the owner of the ip, saw the state of the game, stepped in and went like “nope, youre making this good, or youre not making it, period”, so... yeah he stepped in, put quality standards, lowered the saint quartz cost, added third skills to a lot of lower-star servants that didnt have them, reworked some other servants... also every milestone they include a quality of life change! earlier this year they increased the saint quartz you got from daily missions, then a retroactive change to interludes that gave me like, 100 pieces of it all of sudden... its good, i actually really appreciate them for that X)

2. The leveling up is a bit confusing for me.

yeah, the levelling up is, gacha levelling up, it was a bit weird at first, buuuut:

there are a few different things with exp in the game! you have your mystic code (your clothes, which have special skills), and your master level, both of which increase by just, doing any quest at all! master level determines your ap point limit, how many friends you can have, how many servants and ces you can have in your team at a time, etc... the mystic code level increases the effectivity of your mystic codes skills

theres bond level! this is how ‘close’ you are with your servant, and you raise it by fighting with those servants in your team! levels 1 through 5 unlock new information about them and new flavor text while theyre in your room! levels 6 through 9 give you rewards, like extra saint quartz, apples, etc... and if you get to level 10, you get a specific craft essence! some are like, “as long as the servant has it equipped, everyone in the team gets a buster buff”, but theres specific effects like, heracles gets a stack of 3 guts- which is insaaaaane

theres craft essences! theyre basically ‘buffs’, and levelling them up gives you some extra hp or attack, but ultimately theyre proooobably the least like, necessary thing to level up? still, you get spare craft essences out the wazoo so you probably want to feed the ones with effects you use a lot... anything with default np charge is GREAT for example, as it lets you charge up nukes all that much easier

and finally we get to servants! so you have the normal servant level up, THIS is what youd consider the classic ‘rpg level up’, but instead of levelling them up by fighting, you need items! specially, embers... feeding a servant embers and other spare servants you dont want (low rarity, pls dont feed people gold servants-), you level them up! this is a basic increase of all stats, but theres a level LIMIT! once they reach the level limit, you can ‘ascend them’ to their next stage, usually accompanied with unlocking new skills, and new cool outfits! you can ascend them up to four times, and once theyre at max ascension and max level, you CAN technically feed them holy grails (palingenesis), to break that max level limit to eventually reach 100... this is mostly unnecessary? but if theres a lower-rarity servant you REALLY like, that can put them on par with 4-stars, for example, or giving them a well needed extra boost to hp and attack

finally you have np and skills! skills are just that, servant-specific abilities! evades, healing, debuffs, buffs... levelling up skills reduces their cooldown at level 6 and 10, and generally increases their effect! np level up needs you to have multiple copies of the same servant, you can boost their np to be more damaging or to give you stronger buffs, depending on what it is

so basically, fighting will increase your master and mystic code exp, and your bond level! to actually level up servants, you have to feed them embers (you can farm them in the chaldea gate quests, or simply get them from story missions and free rolls)! to ascend them or level up their skills, you need special materials, which can drop in some free quests in singularities, be sold/drop during events, or drop from other chaldea gate free quests! not all materials are available from the beginning, so i suggest just, going through the story and upgrading your characters as you can, rather than obsessively farming to get them super high up before continuing with it

3. What’s the deal with the unregistered spirit origin currency? Because they are blocking me from getting the servants I want. That leads me to—

oh yeah no, dont worry about that, you are never, ever EVER going to use that X) basically, if you get 5 copies of the SAME 5-star, that is, if you get them to np level 5, and you get a SIXTH copy, which, again... insane odds? you will be given an unregistered spirit origin currency! basically its the way the game has of saying “sorry you keep getting this same servant so much, here, you can CHOOSE which one you want instead”

basically, insurance so you can never get a useless extra 5-star after fully upgrading a previous version of them

you gotta roll the gacha to get servants! its random! there is NO ensuring which one you will get, you just gotta try! well- there ARE occasionally events, like, twice a year, where you get to PICK a free 4-star actually

4. There are currently six servants that I want, everyone else doesn’t matter at the moment. The first is mash (so that’s one down) the second is artotia, third is Jeanne d'ark. Fourth is Jeanne alter, and firth Lancelot! And sixth- I SAW A MAID ALTER WITH A SNIPER RIFLE- WHAT? THATS COOL/FUNNY AS SHIT! I WANT THAT! (Maybe astolfo and uhhh... what was his name with the gray hair, he’s a caster- but that’s for later, the ones I listed are top priority,

lets see, six servants you want! believe me, you WILL get attached to more, but...

mash is obviously in your possession!

artoria is always, by default, in the summoning pool! theres occasionally ‘rate up’ banners, which give certain characters more weight, but ultimately, every saint quartz roll you do always has a chance of summoning her... specially right now, the more of the game you complete, the more servants you will unlock in the summoning pool, so technically shes at her highest drop rate right now

same with jeanne, shes part of the default summoning pool

jeanne ALTER is limited though! she does not appear normally, she can only be summoned when shes on a rate-up banner! i am not sure if she will be on rate-up before this, but the next banner i know she will for SURE be in is in may! oh! but- if you dont get her, there IS a 4-star, summer version that will be FREE this next summer, if you complete the summer event!

i think lancelot is also in the default summon pool!

maid alter is the summer outfit version of artoria X) i am unsure when she is available again honestly :o we had her event rerun not that long ago, so she may not be available for a while...

astolfo is in the default summoning pool AND theyre going to get a 5-star version this next year i believe! so, double stolfo!

sieg is, the free servant you get for the apocrypha event! it happened earlier this year, so i think that means theres a rerun of it still pending! eventually though, they will add a thing where you can replay events you missed and get the free servants from them, so while ideally youd wanna be playing while the event is up, theres a contingency in case you missed someone you REALLY want!

5. Please tell me how the start system works- I’m very new to this and I wanna be invested. Please help-

i think thats pretty much all there is! you get saint quartz through the story, by doing interludes, bond-levelling servants, through rewards, etc, as well as summon tickets, and you use those to roll the gacha! free friend currency only gives 3-star and under servants, while saint quartz can give you pretty much anything

theres almost always a ‘banner’ up, which offers ‘rate-up’ servants! the normal summoning pool has all the default servants and the story-locked ones you have unlocked, but the rate-ups can bypass the locks entirely! some servants are limited, so if they seem cool in a banner, you may wanna try to roll!

even if you dont get the servants you want- and believe me... it WILL happen... you WILL get more and more and more cool servants so, dont worry about that X) also a lot of lower-rarity servants are actually really good and can be used for a lot of things, so if you have a favorite, do not be afraid to level them up!

but yeah thats kind of the loop? you do stuff, get sq... roll the gacha for characters you like, level them up, do events... i honestly play mostly for the story, the main story gets really good, and the events are all charming and nice, but id be lying if i said i didnt want some specific servants... most of which are alter egos-
