Ok sorry once again still thinking about last night's episode of the rehearsal where the entire insanity of the first ten minutes (a dog that has been cloned three times and the resulting dogs have different personalities) is made just to make the audience accept the presumption that it is nurture rather than nature. Just so it is justified and necessary within the Mythbusters-esque, scientific method narrative of the show for Nathan Fielder to appear on screen like this

💥EL ARIETE💥
(I love this Insane Pirate Ruffian~)
ALSO, Fun Fact: I literally just found out his name (or at least what people and himself calls him), 'El Ariete' , literally means 'The Battering Ram' in Spanish- (You know, the nickname people associate with him back in the days 'til now when playing football??) AND I FOUND THIS OUT LIKE 2 WEEKS AGO. AND NONE OF YOU GUYS TOLD ME?!?!? I'M- 😭😭
(If I have a Nickel every time a Spanish character in Supa Strikas named themselves with 'THE' in Spanish, I have two nickels. Which isn't alot, but is weird it happened twice, right??)
ANYWAYS- I drew and finished this awhile ago. I've wanted to draw El Ariete for awhile until 2 weeks ago I had time. I'm very happy with the results of how it turned out!! :D (I almost give up half way because of the background- 💀 But I keep on going since I was almost finished with this. ✨Always trust the process~✨) (Also I hope the words are readable in the artwork- To make sure people can see it, I'll put description for the artwork Image on "ALT". :D )
Also, all of the coloring is done with color pencils (so is the lineart). That Inyo Fan Artwork I did awhile ago REALLY made an impression on me to experiment with my color pencils that I feel more comfortable to do lineart with it. I'm not sure it will be my go to for now on but it is more satisfying to do then do it with black pen-
ALSO!! I decided to draw him more rough around the edges and messy with his mustache and and pants. Because HE'S A RAPSCALLION PIRATE, GOSH DARN IT!!! IF HE EVER COMES BACK, START MAKING EL ARIETE MORE MESSY LOOKING, MOONBUG!!!! >:((((
(SKECTH OF THE ARTWORK)
Tumblr media
(Thank you Younger me for taking this picture before I've colored it!! 🙏✨✨✨ Because I remember how I was so proud of it- 😭)
Hope this guy comes back in S8 or future Supa Strikas seasons if they get made. Really love that his strict, yet how INSANE those teaching methods are in the show- That pretty much what I'm sold of El Ariete as a character because how incredibly unpredictable his is. I would love him teach the other strikers, Klaus and El Matador for a change, or probably the mid-fielders, or teach Supa Strikas as a group for the next game. That would be chaotically fun for an episode-
(I found out there's a comic panel where El Ariete where's a beret and seems like shooting a film(????). I don't know if I'm missing some context and this is probably from the comic of "Return to the Pirate Tower S4E13" and it's just not in the show- [Also since I haven't finished reading the found comics- I SHOULD start reading and finishing them soon-] that being said, they should TOTALLY make an episode surrounding that premise and see how El Ariete handles in a movie set and just go BUCK WILD as a director- LMAO)

Welcome to MeadowClan
─── ⋆⋅ ♰ ⋅⋆ ───
Swirling mist and glittering starlight greets you as you find yourself in a strangely empty field occupied only by a few shifting shadows and a small breeze. Through this gentle wind, a twinge of distinctly herbal poultice touches your nose and beckons you to follow it. Before long, you find yourself walking into a brown-and-white molly who turns to you with glowing green eyes.
“Ahh, They said that you would be here,” she starts with wry amusement before you could say anything. “Curious about the group I’ve built, are you? Or perhaps you aren’t even aware that this is what you’re here for at all.” She sweeps her tail around you, enveloping you in her scent. Despite the fragrance of many bitter remedies, it wasn’t at all unpleasant. “Riches of the earth are always plentiful whenever I go, so now I am sure that upon feeling my touch the resplendent potential in your heart will blossom within my territory as well. Follow me and let your blessings spread to my lovely orange groves!”
─── ⋆⋅ ♰ ⋅⋆ ───
A soothing zephyr carrying the sweet scent of citrus is the perfect introduction to this clowder. For the ones who make their camp within the thick of an orange field, MeadowClan is the home of aromatic plants and flourishing herbs. This clan has a refined attitude about them and are rarely found to be sick for long when their healers’ den is always well stocked, made prosperous with herbs of their own and those pruned from the twoleg gardens which surround them. Due to this community bonded by vibrancy and a focused goal, MeadowClan is found to be closely knit together. All roles work directly in tandem with each other on a regular basis, making the Clan’s high ranks, elders, and warriors all equal positions within their clans. Knowledge is held in higher regard than any title ever could for these cats, and they believe every cat has something to learn from someone else, and as such they should never limit their potential growth— much like the flora they foster. Nothing quite shows off this close relationship better than the harvest season for crops right before leaf-bare hits, where all cats must communicate at their most precise to ensure their clan is stocked with all they could possibly need to prepare for the upcoming cold as their territory will be left with much less. With open, rolling fields burgeoning with wheat or corn and flowers in plentiful boughs among the groves, gardens, and valley, it is often that MeadowClan cats find themselves with some variety of beautiful plant making home in their fur.
⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆
Each of the Clans within this territory, all with their own methods for survival, have developed unique roles for each of their members to grow into as they undergo their training and become warriors within the clan. While all warriors will hunt and defend their territory, these specialized roles play a huge part in maintaining the prosperity of their respective Clan. Within MeadowClan, a warrior can find themselves becoming a balancer, harvester, or fielder.
The first of these roles, balancers, are those who handle the pests within their gardens plenty. Cats fulfilling this role are often particularly witty and quick on their paws, specializing in agility. With such importance placed on maintaining the superior condition of MeadowClan’s flora, it is of utmost imperative that other critters are not able to feed upon their beloved plants. This is where balancers shine, doubling both as a vigilant pest control and skillful hunters. Their ample maneuverability makes these cats fast and accurate, able to locate and capture any rabbits, mice, snails, and even bugs which attempt to evade their path. These pests also make their way into the diet of the clan, presenting a helpful food source among the rest of the bountiful harvest that this Clan is accustomed to. If any cat is needed to explain the ways of these pesky creatures, balancers are always there and ready to help.
Following this are the harvesters, cats with admirable dedication for their craft. They keep close track of the innumerable schedules involving everything they could need for their flora’s care, providing it swiftly and to the most fulfilling extent whenever it is required. Whether it is managing the water supply for their crops, crafting fertilizer from the carefully managed compost depository, or general upkeep and pruning, these cats are always found with their crops and it is almost impossible to pry them away. Without these cats putting their all into what they do and focusing their full attention upon their precious plants, MeadowClan wouldn’t stand as prosperously as it does today.
However both of these roles wouldn’t be able to fulfill their duties properly without the sharp eyed fielders; cats who monitor the movements involving anything within their fields. As the fastest cats within all the territories, they work tirelessly to make sure that any twoleg or tractor activity is known at all times and are always ready to rush off and alert others if there is a threat present which may potentially harm their clanmates. They must be prepared to act at a moment's notice, trained in making quick calls out on the field to ensure everyone’s safety. Fielders also act as excellent messengers, racing to relay information from the fields to the camp to the gardens and then back again. While training is particularly rigorous for this role, there isn’t a single cat with this job who would claim it isn’t worth the effort.
⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆
Vibrant flowers bloom alongside the waking of life within this quaint, delicate group. Saccharine memories, shared laughter, and ever-growing beauty are what carry MeadowClan’s heart more than anything else. With countless moons cultivating these ideals into the very soul of this clowder, unique celebrations have since sprung forth to share this romantic mindset within the Clan. The Harvest Festival, a time to come together to feast their tongues upon unique prey combinations and exquisite culinary creations, nothing short of appreciation for life can be seen sparked within the shining eyes of all MeadowClan cats. This is showcased even more clearly during the customary seed sewing event, in which cats are found placing down seedlings for the plants that they have taken before. It served as a way to respect the lives of those who made it through the hard seasons and those who have not, encouraging new beginnings in turn. To end the night, cats on this sacred holiday will be found at moonhigh sharing tangerines amongst each other as they wish for a gentler season ahead. In a few moons time, cats begin to prepare for The Bloom Pageant, an event where felines have the opportunity to harness their creativity and put together the highest standards of fashion, utilizing the multitude of beautiful, decorative flowers and other flora within MeadowClan’s territory to their fullest potential. As long as the material was found located within MeadowClan’s territory anything goes— leading felines to truly strive towards capturing memorable looks as they attempt to one-up the competition by creating ridiculously extravagant outfits. Felines end up desperately putting the finishing touches on their outfits until moonhigh approaches, which is when the Clan’s leadership will come together to compliment and examine everyone’s efforts, admiring the individual designs participants have put together for this special moment. Winners of this competition can find themselves being gifted with a glorious wreath woven specifically for them, this gorgeous piece of art serving as a crown to further adorn their hard work.

what’s craziest about the “fielder method” is that like. it’s obviously on one level just him taking the piss but at the same time there’s something genuinely helpful there. i think more actors and writers need to step away from looking to other actors and writers for inspiration or whatever you’d call it. study real people!

number 2: the rehearsal
i’m not familiar with nathan fielder's work. hell, i found out he’s canadian a week ago; but after hearing enough about the rehearsal i was curious to give it a shot. i believe the first person i heard talk about it was matt watson, so thank you little matthew! hope you’re doing well!
Tumblr media
the rehearsal pretty much feels like the answer to "what could i have done in that situation" (which now that i think about is kind of ironic when i'm saying i got it from supermega but that’s a different topic). instead of doing stuff and later regretting it later, why not just rehearse the situation before it plays out? nathan fielder is really just that neurotypical of a man. the first few minutes are enough to sell you on the idea that this is actually completely psychotic, do not let this man near your house. even then, i believe life is at its best when sticking to our most devious ideas, so i am all in for it.
there’re three main "rehearsals" in the show, but they all manage to give us a different experience on this concept and tackle a different issue at hand. "i've been lying to my friend for 10 years", "i need my brother to understand my girlfriend isn’t a liar" and "i want to know what it's like to be a parent". these are fairly simple problems anyone could have, but it's the characters we come across that make it a bigger deal than it should be. these are just people. annoying ones? sure. racist? yep. unhealthily religious? oh boy. yet nathan likes to explore that, he's never the one taking over their decisions (most of the time), he lets people be people, and, in turn, show their most honest sides.
this "hands off" approach works to the benefit of the show as in the end, nothing feels tacked in or unrealistic. the things these people do or say will make you groan just as it would for any acquaintance you might know or meet for the first time. surely, we're still talking about a documentary (or docu-medy) so who's to say it couldn't all be actors. don't really think it matters though, as the rehearsal is all about acting as who you want to be. just probably don't follow "the fielder method" unless you're allowed to i suppose.
Tumblr media
after all, we're talking about nathan fielder, a guy that keeps a response flowchart for his phone calls. the guy that reenacts situations he's already been in to understand how people perceive him, and how they feel. i'm no medical professional, but fielder portrays aspects of autism that you don't usually see in television that much. there's always a sense of anxiety to whatever he does, as if he doesn't ever really know what to do with the people around him. not to say he doesn't try his best, he's definitely a competent individual, he simply gives off that vibe. he's caring and understanding, and it shows on the later episodes of the show.
it may seem at first glance that the rehearsal is just about planning out the future, but it tackles multiple things at once. seeking acceptance from others, understanding social ques, not understanding them, overthinking what we do and giving up before trying; as some of the main actions we could take in life. all going alongside concepts of acceptance (and not accepting others), people portraying different versions of themselves, some touches of racism and politics, egocentrism and obsessiveness over your principles (specially related to religion), the television and movie industry and its use of child actors, and the idea that's present the most throughout its runtime, parenthood.
being a parent must be tough, and jumping into something so life changing is a challenge of its own. a single mistake could ruin your child's entire life, yet humans are mistake machines, so how to avoid this? the search for answers sometimes doesn't work to your favor either, as nathan ends up showing us. without delving into too many details as it's better to experience on your own, the last 2 episodes are simply heartbreaking pieces of content. although ending in a seemingly positive manner, you always do wonder "what could have i done different?", when perhaps the best answer may as well be tackling things head on. or not? who knows? that’s what the rehearsal is for.
Tumblr media
i'm definitely a victim of my own delusions at times, as many of us can be. thinking too far ahead and wishing there could be a retry button in case things go bad. if we could all just have a flowchart that considers every possible scenario, maybe we could be better. maybe things could be easier, but everything has a double-edged sword.
definitely looking forward to season 2, and even more of nathan if i decide to watch the rest of his stuff.

Cricket Fitness Training Routine Inspired by Martial Arts Techniques
Tumblr media
Cricket and martial arts — two disciplines that seem worlds apart. One is all about graceful cover drives and outswingers; the other about powerful kicks, precise strikes, and relentless discipline. But when you dig deeper, a powerful truth emerges: both require explosive strength, flexible movement, mental clarity, and body control.
So why not fuse them?
In this article, we’ll explore a cricket fitness training routine inspired by martial arts techniques — a hybrid regime that sharpens your reflexes like a ninja and powers your game like a warrior. Whether you’re a street cricketer or a club-level player, this routine brings a new edge to your fitness game — no black belt required.
🥋 Why Martial Arts for Cricket?
Martial arts build qualities every cricketer needs:
Explosiveness – For sprinting between wickets and fast bowling.
Balance – Essential during footwork and shot-making.
Core control – Critical for stability while batting or throwing.
Flexibility – Reduces injury risk and improves fielding agility.
Mental focus – Trains the mind to stay sharp under pressure.
This cricket fitness training routine borrows from Karate, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, and Kung Fu — blending ancient warrior moves with modern athletic goals.
🔥 The Warrior’s Cricket Fitness Training Routine
This hybrid workout can be done in parks, rooftops, or even in your living room. No equipment needed — just grit and grind.
1. Warrior Warm-Up (10 Minutes)
Inspired by Kung Fu and Karate forms
Routine:
Horse Stance Hold (Mabu) – 30 seconds (leg strength and mental control)
Arm Circles (fast) – 30 seconds (shoulder warm-up)
Shadow Punches (jab-cross combo) – 1 minute (upper body activation)
High Kicks (Taekwondo-style) – 10 each leg (hamstrings and glutes)
Hip Rotations – 20 reps each direction
These dynamic moves prime the body and the mind like a fighter preparing for a bout.
2. Power & Speed Drills (20 Minutes)
Borrowed from Muay Thai and boxing footwork to build fast-twitch muscle and stamina.
Routine:
Explosive Squat Jumps (Muay Thai clinch escape mimic) – 3 sets of 10
Fast Foot Taps (on stairs or block) – 3 sets of 30 seconds
Knee Drives (fighter-style) – 20 reps each leg (great for batting posture and running bursts)
Punch-Sprint Intervals –
30 seconds fast shadow punches
Sprint 30 meters
Repeat 5 times
These develop speed, timing, and functional strength — vital for fielders and fast bowlers.
3. Martial Core Training (15 Minutes)
From Kung Fu and Karate kata, with an emphasis on core strength and rotation.
Routine:
Plank to Side Punch (slow, controlled) – 10 punches each side
Sit-Up to Jab-Cross – 3 sets of 15
Russian Twists with Shadow Elbows – 3 sets of 20
Dragon Flags (Advanced, from Bruce Lee’s regime) – 3 sets of 5
The cricket field demands strong rotational power — especially for hitting and bowling. This section builds that power.
4. Flexibility & Flow (10 Minutes)
Borrowed from martial arts cool-downs and yoga-fused kung fu routines.
Routine:
Seated Forward Bend – 1 minute (hamstrings, lower back)
Butterfly Stretch – 1 minute (hips and groin)
Standing Toe Touch with Arm Swings – 30 seconds
Cat-Cow Stretch (yoga-martial arts hybrid) – 1 minute
Shin-Box Switches – 1 minute (hip rotation)
Flexibility isn’t just for show — it makes you agile in the field and resilient against injuries.
🧠 Mental Conditioning: Focus Like a Sensei
No cricket fitness training routine is complete without mental sharpness. Martial arts have centuries-old methods for building the ultimate focus.
Practice this after each session:
Breathing Drill (Zazen Style):
Sit cross-legged, close your eyes, and take deep breaths.
Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4.
Repeat for 5 minutes.
Visualization:
Picture yourself facing the final ball in a T20 match.
Visualize your reaction, technique, and calmness.
This is how martial artists prepare for war — and cricketers for big moments.
🥗 Nutrition of a Modern Warrior
Just like a martial artist wouldn’t enter a dojo weak, a cricketer shouldn’t step onto the pitch on an empty stomach.
Eat Like This:
Before Training:
Banana + peanut butter
Coconut water
After Training:
Boiled eggs or paneer
Daal with rice or multigrain roti
Hydration: Lemon water + salt + jaggery
🏏 Final Thoughts: Train Like a Fighter, Play Like a Star
In cricket, fitness isn’t about lifting the heaviest weights — it’s about being agile, sharp, and explosive. This cricket fitness training routine inspired by martial arts reshapes your body and mind for peak performance.
It takes the street-smartness of gully cricket, adds the discipline of martial arts, and creates a player who can handle both bouncers and pressure — with calmness and confidence.
The cricket pitch is your arena. Step onto it like a warrior. Because glory doesn’t belong to the gifted. It belongs to the trained.

Finding people and interesting things on the internet
I've never been a very "social" social-media user. I mainly stuck to reading, watching, and mumbling to myself. Sifting through the very large library that we have constant access too, there are many nice people & things - finding them is the problem.
For the most part it seems that social media companies are forming their algorithms to promote maximum time-sink on their platform. Most heavily punish links to other places, and content that isn't available right there next to their advertisers. Similarly many have adopted 'infinite scroll' models - which feel tuned akin to slot machines - many small investments that have 'low returns' that pay off when you get something 'great.' The quality of that greatness feels to me to deteriorate overtime - as something excellent might make you step away from your screen to process it for a second.
I recently watched an episode of The Rehearsal [Nathan Fielder] - S1 Ep2 - ~22min long [on HBO MAX] - and it was beautiful and soul wounding and felt like 3 hours. You can also watch a 1h 30min video about how brilliant Nathan Fielder is, that will slowly explain the carefully set up jokes, while making claims about their meaning. Most video essays currently feel like SparkNotes, but longer and worse than the assigned reading.
Reblogs, retweets, reskys, and reposts are great. They cut pretty close to the chase - "I thought you should see this" - Tumblr seems to have embraced this for the most part, many other places as well. This is good for sharing the things that you've found. It also comes into conflict when much of what is found has been supplied through an algorithm not designed with 'your wants' in mind - not necessarily a knock on quality - but will heavily reward those who perform to metrics of that algorithm - watch-time, interactions, and clarity will perform well [generally.]
So how do I find the freaks? The hobbies I didn't know I wanted to pick up? The horrendous poetry that even a mother couldn't love? Nothing terribly new. You've probably done it before.
Find one person you think is interesting. Then find out who they're following. They've been panning for gold for a while, just take it from them. It's free. Now you can repeat this and go deeper - do it a couple times - a 6 or 12 people chain deep, you can get so far out of your depth. [I will note - give people the benefit of the doubt for the most part - if you find something incredibly off-putting in someone's following they might have followed them years ago for something completely different. If it's a consistent pattern - figure out your feelings.]
Some people I've acquired using this tried and true social method: Japanese Mollusk and Mycelium enthusiasts, I found Dan Reeder (listen to 'maybe') through a historical comedian's following tab, after I found some New York Art freaks - one of their people was an animator - and one of his people made the space type generator [open source online text animation - free!!!]. Most of the things that are sticking with me as of late from the internet - I have had to go digging for, but the success rate feels far higher than the scroll, and far more rewarding.
I'd chalk it up to agency - 'I found this person' is a great feeling. Hunting and gathering <3
After a couple days of doing this, it became even more apparent how horrendous the content algorithms are at actually satisfying me (the following following thing would be extremely easy to program - and it used to be integral in many feeds in the past.)
I think you're much more likely to find people this way, weird ones, messy ones, ones to sprinkle some fertilizer on. Maybe it's a middle aged Korean man who takes photos of his walks in parks.
