I love my Finnish edition of the Hobbit. I got this one from the moomin shop in London. The illustrations are beautiful and recognisable as made by Tove.

Kirjasuosituksia?

Mulla on varsin vaativa maku kirjojen suhteen, mutta olis tosi kiva, jos jollakulla oli heittää edes jotain suosituksia

Tykkään tosi paljon Kat Fallsin Veden alla ja Vastavirta-kirjoista, Anni Polvan Tiina-kirjoista ja Jalon siskosten Koiratytöt-sarjasta. Yksittäisenä kirjana Marvi Jalon Ratsutyttö muuttaa maalle on kans ihan hiton jees. Ekat Harry Potterit on myös hyviä, samoin Pikku Vampyyri ja Baby-Sitters Club (vaikka nää kaks viimistä on jo vähän turhan lapsellisia). Nummelan ponitalli-sarja, Hobitti ja Divergent-trilogia on myös ihan jees (vaikka toi viiminen on kyllä turhan synkkä). Vanhemmat lasten/nuorten kirjat on kans usein hyviä, vaikkei ihan mun lemppareiden listalle ylläkään. Esimerkiksi nyt vaikka Marita Lingquistin Maleena-sarja (vaikka tämäkin on vähän turhan lapsellinen) ja mitä niitä poikien seikkailukertomuksia nyt onkaan, Aaro Hongan Suurleirin seikkailijat. Aikuisille suunnatuista kirjoista ei nyt tule äkkiseltään muuta mieleen kuin Sara Gruenin Vettä elefanteille. Elämänkerroista erityisesti mun makuun on Deborah Spungenin Nancy, Lawrence Anthonyn Norsukuiskaaja, Serhii Plokhyn Tšernobyl: Ydinkatastrofin historia ja Scott Kellyn Kiertoradalla - Vuosi avaruudessa. Tiedekirjallisuutta tulee luettua opintojen puolesta ihan riittämiin, joten sitä mä en vapaa-ajan lukemiseksi kaipaa

Henkilökohtasesti alotin syksyllä yliopistossa (woah!!) kolmannella yrityskerralla kulttuurintutkimuksessa (pääaineena kirjallisuus, ylläri). Lets hope ett menis niinku suunnittelin. Lisäksi oon lukenu entistäkin enemmän LGBTQ+ kirjallisuutta ja en voi ku vaan suositella Alice Winnin vuoden 2023 romaania In Memoriam. Se löytyy jo nyt suomeksi ja ainakin mun mielestä käännös on todella onnistunut, ei sillä että olisin alkuperäiskielellä sitä vielä edes lukenut, mutta uskoakseni käännös on onnistunut. Ainakin pidin siitä itse. Tarinana In Memoriam on äärimmäisen koskettava, vaikkakin paikoin ehkä hitusen cringe ja tarinan loppu oli aivan erilainen kuin olin odottanut. Toisaalta kaipasin järkyttäviä tunnekokemuksia, mutta loppu kelpasi siitä huolimatta. Haluaisin eroista huolimatta verrata teosta 1920-luvulla julkaistuun Länsirintamalta ei mitään uutta (Erich Maria Remarque), eli yksinkertaisesti In Memoriam on hyvin vaikuttava ja mukavasti kirjoitettu.

Lisäksi oon viettänyt viime keväästä alkaen melkein joka päivä hetken viime Hobitti-ficcien parissa. Jos on olemassa jumala, niin päästäisi minut jo Bagginshieldin tuskasta </3.

Tolkien Adaptation Directory

I’ve recently returned from a there-and-back journey into watching every Tolkien adaptation I could find- mainly film, tv, and theatre- but I was more surprised to discover a corner of the fandom interested in watching them too! And more than anything, I want to share what I’ve found, and draw some attention to these amazing works. I firmly believe that every adaptation adds something to Middle Earth- whether it’s as big as a different character or plot interpretation, or as small as a new art style, they all make Tolkien’s stories just a little brighter.

This page has everything from the Peter Jacksons to Born of Hope, and from the Hobitit miniseries to the Finrod rock opera, and always room for more! I’ll absolutely keep updating as I find things, or if I’m sent anything!
