Babii v Polca

I want to first start this off by prefacing: I’m a babii first, Tay fan second. So, clearly I have a bias. Take what I say with a grain of salt. But the Babii 24/7 concert blew the Polca Time Traveling concert out of the water.

Stats at a glance. OffGun’s concert lasted 2.5 hours and their group performed 22 songs. TayNew’s lasted a little past 3 hours and they did 25. OffGun had 13 songs they performed together (just them), and each had a solo song. TayNew had 12 songs they performed together (just them), and also each had a solo song. OffGun had 9 different outfits, TayNew had 7. OffGun had 8 guests: Neo, Aungpao, Fourth, and the five members of Lykn. TayNew had 7: Gemini, Ford, Mook, Sing, Janhae, Junior, and Mark. Neither concert’s tickets sold out at the venue, but I want to say OffGun had about 20ish tickets left, and TayNew had 12. They both sold out of their plushie keychain at the venue.

Now onto my analysis. These concerts can easily be broken into three different moments. It’s usually a song, or a transitional phase with music or a fun video clip, followed by chatter to allow for change in set designs and costumes. After watching TayNew’s concert, I am almost positive they had more chatter than OffGun’s. I went back through my recordings of both concerts and these are my findings.

When I timed “chatter” I specifically only counted moments when there was no music. I did not include the fan videos at the end of their shows within that time, but I did count the talking to the audience afterwards. I usually don’t mind chatter but when subtitles are so delayed or inaccurate during a live performance, I tend to lose interest. So for me personally, it can affect how I view the concert flow. 

OffGun had about ~52 minutes of chatter. Of that, there was ~12 minutes dedicated to their OffGun Fun Night segment. Which, if you understand the premise of their show…that’s the whole point. They host a talk show. There’s supposed to be chatter. But to try and be more fair, I did include those 12 minutes in my total time.

TayNew had ~68 minutes of chatter. The difference between their chatter and that of OffGun’s seemed significantly noticeable to me. Perhaps it was because most of the chatter involved was on a blank stage with a wide cast. TayNew got lost in the group for me at times. Whereas OffGun’s longest chatter segment (the OGFN part) was hosted on a bed with Fourth. So it made it more fun and interesting for me.

Which, the bed. This brings me to another point. I feel like OffGun had more time to come up with the concept of their show. They utilized props more. The idea of a convenience store for the 24/7 theme was brilliant. Their hosting of a “ribbon cutting” scene in front of their store to begin their concert was perfect. Then having a shelf with products they could flirt against was a nice touch. I’m trying to remember what outside props TayNew had and can only come up with the Polcasan robot thing, a few chairs, and a picnic bench. It seemed like OffGun gave more consideration to their theme and stuck with it. There were even three songs within their set list that had 24/7 in their lyrics, further bringing up the concert's title.

So, all in all, I’m giving this one to OffGun guys. The concert flow was tight, the songs coincided with their theme, their outfits were above and beyond, props too. I also loved that for their closing song they jumped down from the stage and walked through the audience to sing. To me this added another personal touch and really showed how much they love and appreciate babiis. 

Yes, I’m biased. But there’s a reason for it. I think OffGun are creative geniuses and their concert proved that. 

Will I rewatch TayNew’s concert? No. 

Will I rewatch OffGun’s? Honey, it’s been seven days and I’ve seen it three times already. We already know the answer there.

Merchandise.... what is the BNHA merch and which characters are mostly together?

This is sort of a big analysis on BNHA merch, but also my answer to a guy that kept insisting that there was so much Izuocha merch around, so much Todomomo merch, they are always together!

Well, they are not.

To count the merch I used Myfigurecollection. I only counted the general Boku no hero academia, in total 14259 merch entries, the dat 05 July, so everything added after today has not been counted. I only counted the "goods" that are general merch like plushies, badges, pens, acrylic stands, calendars etc.

Figures (nendoroids, for example) are not in this analysis, but I made a separate analysis on them here.

How I counted:

I simply checked which merch had 2 or 3 characters. Merch with 1 character or groups of 4 or more was not considered

I checked all 14259 entries, and avoided the "doujinshi goods", so what is considered is only official merch

I did not check merch for the three movies, as they were only about 300 in total

I noted down the pairs or the 3 characters together, independently from ships (ex. Eri and Deku), but the main figures exclude those ones and are only between characters who are in ships together

The characters in this post are: Uraraka, Deku, Bakugou, Todoroki, Momo and Kaminari. I will probably add more in the future, just because I like graphs

IN GENERAL

As you can see Bakugou and Deku had the highest amount of merch, more than double the second place (Deku and All Might). They were followed by Bakugou and Kirishima, and then Tsuyu and Uraraka.

Now, if we only consider characters who are shippable, to see what "shippy" merch is out there, I will present some graphs for some of the characters. In the graphs you will see characters who were together and had more than 2 items of merch.

WHO IS URARAKA MAINLY IN MERCHANDISE WITH?

When I just check Uraraka and her merchandise and goods, we can see that she is mainly associated with Tsuyu (19 merchandise items), followed by Deku (14) and Iida (12). She was then mainly with other two characters.

WHO WAS DEKU MAINLY IN MERCHANDISE WITH?

Deku was by far associated with Bakugou. Literally the highest numbers, as seen in the summary graph up above. It was so high that it was three times the number of the second place, which was Bakugou and Todoroki with Deku. Following, in third place, we have Todoroki and Deku at the same number as Uraraka and Deku. The rest were mainly three characters together.

WHO WAS BAKUGOU MAINLY IN MERCHANDISE WITH?

As seen up above, Bakugou is, of course, mainly seen with Deku. As before, it was a little more than double the numbers of the second place, which was Kirishima. Following, we have Bakugou Todoroki and Deku, and then Todoroki and Bakugou.

WHO WAS TODOROKI MAINLY IN MERCHANDISE WITH?

Todoroki was, surprisingly, not mainly seen with Momo, but with Deku and Bakugou (at first place), followed, with just a few less merch items, with Deku. Iida and Todoroki were also pretty close.

Now that I saw that Todoroki was not mainly with Momo, I had to check for her too. As you can see, Momo was mainly seen with Jirou. The number was not too different than Todoroki and Momo.

Surprisingly, the rest was a bit of a mess, mainly girls randomly thrown together.

WHO WAS KAMINARI MAINLY IN MERCHANDISE WITH?

Sadly, Kaminari did not have a lot of shippy merch. Still, he was mainly sold with Kirishima, or Kirishima and Bakugou. Just a little few items less we have Kaminari and Jirou.

OTHER RANDOM CONSIDERATIONS

Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream Episodes 01-12

Desperate times ask for desperate measures.

So life happened, and my schedule was completely screwed for this week. As I've mentioned before I'm trying to keep at least one thing consistent in my life, but I didn't watch all the episodes I needed for the other series I'm covering and I needed something that would be quick to watch and easy to write so I decided on Pretty Rhythm because it seemed the more "brainless" of the options I had that wasn't one of those short anime that have 3~5 minutes episodes. Because this is like a "filler" series, this won't have a regular schedule neither a set amount of episodes I'll watch every time, because I saw early in the week that I'd have problems posting I could prepare myself and this post happened to be about 12 episodes that more or less cover the entire of the first arc, but that won't be a rule, some times it can be 12 episodes, other 24, or even just 4, so don't expect much for these reviews.

Before I start, here's a bit of my history with Pretty Rhythm. When I first started watching Prichan I wasn't really liking the show but I was determined to watch it completely because I was liking Aikatsu Friends and I knew there was this huge fandom rivalry between the two franchises and I wanted to see it for myself if there was something to back up this dumb thing. My plans were to watch Aikatsu first because it was the show I already had a history with and that I was also liking more, but the Aurora Dream torrent finished first and so I went to watch it and I didn't like it very much, I think I dropped it at episode 20 or so.

While rewatching these first 12 episodes I could see why I didn't like it, I still have my issues, but I think now I have a little more of appreciation for this thing. It's still pretty boring, but it has its moments.

I think one thing that is pretty evident is that this show is cheap as hell, the animation is pretty stiff, the drawings go off-model very often, the background characters are just colored silhouettes, the CGI is clunky, they don't even have their own ending sequence, they just put the PV with a black border like if this was one of those YouTube channels that upload the Aikatsu performances but have to edit the videos in order to avoid copyright strikes. But even with all that they still managed to do something decent. The story in this beginning is pretty much non-existent, I feel like they've used interesting things way sooner so they don't have the exact effect they were trying to have, but as a journey to discover these characters, it wasn't all that bad.

I don't buy the fairy/plushie teachers thing, I don't think they add much and they would fair better as just keychain mascots rather than as sentient beings. I also don't like the romance, it's awful, the male characters aren't good and I don't feel compelled to root for any of the ships. And one thing that just exacerbates my dislike for these characters being present is the fact this show has an unhealthy obsession with marriage to the point where they say, on episode 11, "A wedding dress is the symbol of a woman's success in life" and seeing this show trying to sell marriage as the only pinnacle of women's life infuriates me. Like, Rizumu's goal is to perform Aurora Rising so she can reunite with her mom, but they say that to perform Aurora Rising "one must be a bride who loves and is engaged to Prism Show", just being passionate about your hobby/career isn't enough, they gotta "marry" figure skating, and this is ridiculous and dumb in so many levels, that's probably my least favorite element of this show.

The lack of diversity in songs performed is kinda disappointing, but they have a good array of Prism Jumps and they wear different costumes to perform pretty often so I think it balances out. Another thing I think it's good is that they really embrace the theme of fashion, yeah, sometimes it's a bit too much, but I like seeing that these clothes have some thought and they're always trying different things too so I think I can stand whenever Aira goes in one of these rampant of her.

And speaking of Aira, let's dive into some of the characters. Our protagonist is pretty boring, I feel like she has no personality. The show is always trying to give her things, but I don't see much being developed. Like, in these final episodes Aira kinda sacrifices her performances in order to make sure Rizumu can perform perfectly after the sabotage happened, but that didn't really feel genuine to me, it felt like the show was trying to make us feel very sorry for her at that moment so when they make her be special we feel like it's justified and not something they came up with just to push the protagonist, and I feel like a lot of Aira's plotlines are like that, it's the show forcing to make Aira look like a good character when she's actually just bones, no meat. And it's kinda sad that it's this way because I feel like they could've done more with all that stuff with her dad, that should've been a big moment, but it happened so early it kinda killed any good conflict that could happen in the show up until episode 12.

Rizumu, on the other hand, is pretty great, I can feel that she's genuine and the few episodes focused on her were pretty decent, she's definitely my favorite member of the cast (even though she doesn't get to do much). I know from my research she was the original protagonist for the game and I kinda wish they've kept that for the anime because she has the best backstory, she has an actual goal, she's more than just a quirk. She has a more solid character and I wish I was following her story instead of Aira's.

I would talk about Mion but she didn't have a relevant role in the story yet so I have no opinions other than, her song is amazing. The side characters are pretty boring, Jun is just a gimmick where he likes to embellish his speech by saying pretty words, Kyoko is kind of a dick, I hate all of Callings, and poor Meganee don't get enough screen time for me to create any kind of bond, Aira's and Rizumu's families aren't anything special, but I absolutely despise Aira's father, he's gross.

And that's pretty much everything, I ended up writing way more than I thought I would considering I wrote all of my notes in a very small piece of paper, but I'm glad I was able to do this so smoothly. It’s been a while since I’ve last done multiple reviews in one day, but I’m feeling pretty good tonight and since it’s too early for me to go to bed, I thought I would knock out my first of our June boxes!

Moving Bunny Ears Hat

I think these suddenly gained popularity, which is why they are in this box this month :3 It’s a fluffy-soft cap that resembles a bunny with floppy ears and long paws, which when squeezed do this:

These were available in either white or pink, and I also know there is a panda version too, but it wasn’t in the box.

It’s very cute, and I love how soft and fluffy it is x3 I can wear it and cuddle it. The ear gimmick is a lot of fun, and on one hand the arms aren’t very practical so they might get in the way at times, but it’s not as bad as some other hats I’ve seen and it does a nice good keeping your head cozy without having much weight.

If anything I wish it had a little bit more detail though, because I keep thinking “I know its a bunny, but it looks like a sheep.“ and the details it does have are a teensy-bit messy on mine. It’s mainly little snips and seams of string that aren’t cut neatly or are sticking out.

Our next item is an adorable, colorful translucent bowl that features several unique drawings of the character representing it. The others include colors like pink, clear/white, red, blue, and feature Rilakkuma, Sumikko Gurashi, Doraemon, and My Melody. Each bowl has a diamond or gem-like appearance, and as you can see I got the Hello Kitty one x3 it’s very pale pink and white, pastel blue, lavender, hot pink, and pastel yellow on the images.

What’s nice is that if you don’t want to use it for food (cold foods like snacks or sweets, because I don’t think this type of material could stand really hot things), you could use it as an item holder, for things like jewelry, makeup, knick-knacks, etc.

There isn’t really much to say about a bowl though, so I’m kind of rating it for the fact it’s really cute and I love hello kitty. But I would have been happy with any of them. I also think it goes well with the Party Animal theme.

Sumikko Gurashi Coaster

I never really use coasters around here (I have some, but I never remember to grab them), but I couldn’t resist getting excited when I saw these, we all know how much I love Shirokuma~

Besides him, there was also Neko, Penguin, and Tonkatsu available, each with their little friend or personal item. The coasters are basic cork.

The mage and detailing is pretty nice, and for a coaster it seems a little flimsy. If I bend it certain ways the paint cracks so I’m not sure how to say this will hold up durability wise... but in going with the theme, I think it’s a useful and cute item.

Sakura Kitchen Set

Our next items are a 2-set (although I’m not sure if they actually are when sold, I’m thinking not?) featuring a pretty pink and white Sakura flower theme. These may not say party animal, but the cleanup is pretty important afterwards wouldn’t you say?

The little box is perfect for folding leftover food or packing some food with you on a trip, or just for a snack you might not finish- while the sponges... you know, help clean off things like dishes, or you can use them to clean the walls, floors, sink, whatever.

I feel like with these items there genuinely isn’t much I can say. Like I can see why these were included and I like the fun twist on the party animal theme, but if I really had to say anything, it’d be that I feel like the box should be bigger because I really don’t think it would be a good leftover bin; unless it was just a small snack or some dessert. I don’t know if it can be heated up, but I’m pretty sure it could hold hot items.

With spring passing when this box was released I also kind of like how this fits as a farewell spring item. I love sakura flower x3 they’re so pretty.

Sanrio Letter Set

Letters and notes are pretty important when you plan to host a party, and with that this month we could receive 7 different Sanrio-themed sets. Each comes with 12 stationary, 6 envelopes, and 1 sheet of stickers.  

I wouldn’t say Pocaccho is my favorite Sanrio character; but next to Hello Kitty he’s the one I grew up with. So I always had a fondness for him.

I can’t say I have much use for stationery sets like this personally, but it’s a practical item and I still appreciate it. One day it could come in handy- like if I throw a party :D or whenever I send presents to friends I could use it. I always like to include a note, so this type of set is perfect in those situations.

One thing I did think was funny though is that the entire set is blue and white striped, as you can see. But when I turned over the set, I looked at the paper and its entirely pink and white! Kinda random, but it does include the various items from the front and still sticks with the theme.

Glitter Character Keychain

Our final item is this adorable blind box featuring 4 sets of 4 character shaker keychains, each translucent with color detail and with unique glitter!

I got the sanrio set, so I could get Hello Kitty, Little Twin Star, Cinnamoroll, or My Melody. The other sets included Crayon Shinchan, Doraemon, and Sumikko Gurashi. Honestly I would have been happy with any of them, except for Shinchan because I don’t like that series.

These are worth 5 Sanrio points.

Well in terms of looks, I guess I could see the party animal theme in this. They’re very colorful and a lot of fun to shake and watch the glitter role around x3

Content - 4.5 out of 5. Quality wise everything seems to be pretty decent and well-detailed. I like the items, but I know right away I might not use a few of them. At least not now. I like how they were practical and we had a nice variety.

Theme: 5 out of 5. This one left me a little complex again because almost all of the items do include animals. They all feature lots of colorful details, and mostly all of them could be used in relation to a party, before or after .I especially liked the clever way they included cleaning items for the after party.

Total Rank: 10 out of 10. I don’t have very much to say about it but, but I really liked this box. I liked the items from our last one but with the price we pay, and giving it more thought after I posted it I began wondering if it was worth it. We got a bunch of small items and I didn’t really think so, but this one is more worth it. The items are practical and come in a variety of sizes, mainly medium-big, and for just an any day or everyday scenario, these will be useful.

1. Glitter Character Keychain - I fell in love at first glance; I love clear things with pops of color, and I’m obsessed with glittery things. It was meant to be. I really wish we got more blind boxes like we used to~

2. Sparkly Kawaii Bowl - It’s gorgeous! I know I’ll use this item too, because it is a kitchen item and everyone eats. It would definitely catch attention from friends ;3

3. Bunny Ears Hat - It’s really cute and I love how soft it is... but I’m one of those people who feel stupid and is convinced they look stupid wearing hats. So I feel a little silly wearing it >3<

4. Sakura Kitchen Set - I like the items and it’s nice how we get 2 for the price of 1. Again, not sure I’ll use them much, but I like how they look at the very least...

5. Sanrio Letter Set - It’s very cute, I love the various Pochacco images, some of which I saw before and some I didn’t. I like the striped background especially x3 I love stripes.

6. Sumikko Gurashi Coaster - it’s very cute, but it’s pretty basic and I feel like this would be the item I use least; I also think it might be the most frail. Again I’m worried about its durability and how well the image will last over time.

AH..this isnt a least fave at ALL but i had a lot of trouble w kiawes trial..im replaying sumo and i recently finished it and it was a bit easier than last time but..the first time i challenged him i had to battle the totem pokemon 3 times before i won..i didnt have any pokemon that were strong against fire types and i thought salazzle was a dragon type so i sent out my sylveon and got absolutely destroyed..all the trials were so fun tho!!! i really liked alola!!! they were all very unique and it was overall smth really different and fancy!! i dont think i have a least fave hvfjhvf

HMM...i wanna say my current pkmn moon team!!!! it has all my fave pokemon and its a very balanced team in general? which is very important bc im very competitive and i get really frustrated when i lose hvfjhvf i also captured a bunch of pokemon along the way and i switch them out sometimes and its smth i hadnt done in a while so it was really fun!!!!

Remember that 10 pound box of Polyfil I got back at the start of May? Its finally empty, and I managed to make 35 amigurumi out of it - 2 were little Moogle keychains, but 3 were also XL sized like the Moonkin, Larvitar and Kyogre - all in the 10 weeks since opening it. So if any fellow plushie/amigurumi makers ever wonder if the 10 pound box is worth it - it is!! I already have a new one I just opened and it will be fun to see all the amigurumi we make with this next 10lb of fluff 😁

Its also fun to see that while I’ve made some doubles since May, I’ve also gotten to make a lot of different amigurumi - variety keeps things fun, especially when 12 of these were brand new patterns! 😯

--- PAST EMMA’S POV ---

 Emma leaves me alone with the baby – my baby if we’re being specific. I’m tense as hell and for a moment I just sit there with the crying baby in my arms – not daring to move for a second or even breathe properly. I refuse to look at her. I try my best not to start crying. I even begin to sweat a little. I swear I’m going to have a panic attack every second now. You could say I’m terrified of this little baby, which sounds ridiculous but it’s true. I might not be afraid of the baby itself, but about having her in my arms and about how perfectly she fits into them. I have no idea how to hold a baby though, so it doesn’t matter if she fits well into my arms or not. I feel like if I move for just a second I’ll accidently drop the little one and she’ll get hurt badly.

Also, I’m scared, that if I hold her tightly in my arms and look at her, I’ll somehow bond with her. That’s the reason I never held Henry after he was born. I never wanted to risk loving him then – not more than I already did anyway. And it’s the same with little Hope right now. I swore to myself that I’ll never fall in love again – my keychain necklace being a daily reminder of that. But I obviously will love someone in the future – Hope’s dad – and somehow, I still want to change that. Emma did take some of my fears for the future away, but not all of them. Not even closely. I still don’t want to ever fall in love again because love only causes pain in the end since everyone leaves you at some point.

So, I don’t look at Hope now, because I know that I’d instantly love her – she is my daughter after all. I already love her too much now. I felt that when I learned of her existence. I ran away, but that wasn’t so much because I hated the thought of her. I did think that at the time, but deep down I never despised her. I always loved her just like I always loved Henry. Before he brought me to Storybrooke there wasn’t a single day I didn’t think of him – wondering whether he was okay, whether I should’ve rather made the selfish decision, whether I’d ever get to meet him, whether he’d forgive me in that case. The list could go on forever, but the only thing that matters is that I always loved Henry – every single day we were apart. And now I’m scared the same thing will happen with Hope. She will leave me once Emma figures out how to get back home. I might be able to see her again in a few years or so – Emma doesn’t look much older than me – but who knows how long I’ll have to wait for Hope? Sometimes people don’t really age. It’ll be like my life between the day Henry was born and coming to Storybrooke all over again. I’ll be miserable without ever admitting it to myself until the day I’ll see her again. I’ll constantly worry, and I’ll constantly miss her.

Or will I? Emma also plans to enact a forgetting spell or something like that to preserve the time line. So, I won’t actually remember meeting my future daughter, will I?

I can hang out with her now and get to know her without feeling nothing but heartache once she leaves. That’s pretty cool. It also means, I can look at her. I haven’t really done that yet.

I drop my head and look at my baby’s face for the first time. I’m overwhelmed by it and feel tears burning in my eyes. I won’t let them stream down my face, but they’re blinding my vision. She’s so beautiful. And her sad eyes right now, which are red and puffy from all the crying, make me incredibly sad. I wish there was something I could do to make her happy again. But the other me is working on that right now, so I should just enjoy my time with Hope for as long as it lasts.

I softly stroke her head, while I continue to look down at her in awe. I smile softly at her. She looks at me with her bright blue eyes, while she keeps crying. But I almost don’t notice the crying anymore because I’m a hundred percent focused on her. I’ve kind of drowned out all sounds. The station and everyone else there fade completely from view.

She’s an adorable baby, even though she has been in a bad mood for as long as I entered the station and have been present here. It probably started before that, so it could’ve gone on for hours. I don’t mind it though because I’m far too distracted by her cuteness now that I look at her. She has some blonde hairs on top of her head and is wearing a little bow around the head. She’s also got my cheekbones, which I got from my mother. It must be a very strong gene. As I said before she is quite beautiful and so are her clothes. She’s wearing a pink onesie with little purple anchors on it.

Her most striking feature are her eyes though. All the tears probably make them seem even brighter, but there’s no doubt that she has the prettiest eye color. The eyes somehow feel very familiar to me, but I can’t quite place them. It’s a very notable color, so I would probably remember seeing it in Storybrooke. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a person I stare at regularly – not that I ever check out anyone. I pretty much find everyone in this town annoying as hell – except for my son and parents and maybe Granny and Ruby. For all I care everyone else can go back to where they come from: The Enchanted Forest. Especially the dwarves and Regina. She’s working with Cora again, so her so called redemption can’t be real. That makes her a danger to Henry since he’ll always trust her. No matter what she does. She is his mother after all – even if it’s not by blood. I don’t think she would really hurt him directly, but she’d hurt everyone else, which would also cause Henry pain. He’s a sweet and caring boy. He loves almost everyone in this town. It’s one of the qualities I love about him.

And judging by the reason Hope is crying, it’ll be something I’ll love about her, too. She is crying after all because she misses her daddy. He seems like a great person, which in addition to Hope makes me fear the future a little less.

Speaking of Hope’s dad, did Emma find the recordings yet? I look up and search the room for her. She is kneeing next to the diaper bag and looks at her phone. So, I suppose she didn’t. But it won’t be long now.

I lift Hope up and hug her, while rocking her softly.  I whisper into her ear in an attempt to soother her a little. “It’ll be okay soon, Hope. Your mommy is going to get your daddy here in no time.” In a way at least, but maybe this will work for the time being. The baby does calm down a little at the sound of my voice and the mention of her father, but she still cries. I feel bad for her. I do know what it’s like to miss someone you love. I’ve done it with Henry for ten years.

I decide then, that I should go to the store later to buy a little plushie for the baby. It might take her mind off missing her home and the rest of her family. And then tomorrow I’ll do everything in my power to help Emma find a way home for them. Ten years ago, I had to give Henry away despite the pain it caused me. I had to give him his best chance. Now I have to do the same for Hope. She’ll be happier in her own time line, so I have to put my own happiness aside for a moment and do what’s best for my child. I swear I’ll get her home no matter how hard it’ll be – even if it’s the last thing I do.

Since I was a four year old watching it for the first time and reading the junior books based on the anime!

Umm, hello. This is Meowth. Multiple times.

Yep! Two plushies, one a build a bear, a hat with him on it, and a keychain.

He’s sarcastic and acts tough yet he’s empathetic when it comes to other Pokemon, especially ones that remind him of himself. He can be a real sweety when he isn’t being a theif.

5. what about their backstory makes me emotional

Everything about it. Pfft. Ok, what really makes me sad is the sole fact that Meowth legitimately had absolutely no one that loved him, cared about him, or even treated him decently before he met Jessie and James. He did the impossible and learned to talk all on his own where no other Pokémon would put that much effort into something like that, and nobody even cared! He was even called a freak for doing so. He came into the world and spent his kittenhood with literally no one except a gang of street Meowth led by a Persian. Who I actually have another sad headcanon regarding Meowth about.

6. the moment of theirs that made me the saddest

Him missing Jessie and James in Meowth rules. Or the whole Stoutland and Litten episode where he tries to get Litten to talk to him when he was sad.

Also Arbok and Wheezing being released ok. The part where he was willing to keep getting electrocuted to save the Ekans and Koffing. Gahhh. That whole episode was an emotional train though.

Whenever he is reunited with Jessie and James after being separated from them. Him leaping into their arms to hug them!

8. something about them that made me laugh

Every line he gets in the 4kids dub XD. No, seriously. I can’t pick just one from him. But here are some favorites.

“It’d be amazing if ya had any talents to demonstrate.”

“Heh, I guess Zapdos flew da coop.”

“Youse two don’t need the opposite sex cause ya got each udda.”

“Two bad dey wasn’t pointin’ off a cliff.” (After he gives Jessie and James straws to find things with for a scheme and they race away with them).

His may costume, or just about anytime he wore a cute dress. Right now I adore his Bewear malasada truck costume the most though.

The entirety of Fly Me to the Moon where he helped Orville the Pidgey achieve his dreams of flying higher than any other Pidgey had. And the end of Poke Spokes Person where he told the spokesman to keep in trying to communicate with Pokémon by making him think he was communicating with him.

11. my favorite relationship they have with another character

Jessie, honestly. Love how they go from being at each other’s throats to goofing off with one another so quickly.

Also, Pikachu! And Wobbuffet.

They seem to get his sense of humor spot on. I love fanfics that go deeper into his psyche as well. Like yes I'm all for that.

Include him in your Team Rocket stories! He is just as important as Jessie and James! And you Rocket meta. Sorry, kind of bugs me when he is ignored as you can tell.

There is more to him than just being a funny sarcastic kitty with a Brooklyn (in the dub’s case) accent as well. He is actually a really complex character beneath all that.

14. what i liked about the way canon portrayed them

Being legitimately cunning and threatening at times, and soft at others when the time called for it. The way they show his villainous and anti-heroic side well.

Whenever he was punished for something he didn’t do. Obviously there were times when he deserved his just desserts, but there were some times when he ended up sharing the blame with his teammates or being punished in the Pokemon chronicles shorts simply because he’s Meowth. I don’t know. Silly little thing, I know.

And how he, along with his other team members, could be shoehorned in to an episode when they really didn’t need to be. Xy/DP I feel were the most guilty of this. I’m glad Sun and Moon is doing much better with their usage.

Alrighty, here’s what I got at AX this year.

I finally finished transferring the files at last, even though I was largely distracted.

Lines were much easier this year.  There were 12 badge pickup lines and toldentops was mailed his badge ahead of time.  Also, getting in after getting the badge only took me about 20 minutes compared to about two and a half hours last year and standing in blistering heat from 10am to 3pm in 2016.  I was also really early, me and my sister arrived at 8:40 and I actually waited to get into Artist Alley, which opens at 10.

So at Artist Alley:

I commissioned this drawing of Riesz, Kevin, and Charlotte from Seiken Densetsu 3 to @say0ran-arts!  Thank you for drawing these characters for me and you nailed their designs!  They were my main cast for my playthrough!  It’s so beautiful and I love it so much!

After Artist Alley: Exhibit Hall:

I bumped into @toldentops again!  Talked about my recent vacation to Spain and Seiken Densetsu and gaming in general.  I also bought a Moogle Keychain for $15 (Golly, I’m buying a lot of Final Fantasy stuff this year geez) and found an Audino plush for only $10.  I later spilled some chocolate ice cream on the moogle.

I opened it with @time-gears and toldentops. Hoping for a plushie and it definitely wasn’t worth the $42 I spent on it.  I’m definitely not buying another one next year.

Honestly that’s not the worst thing about today.  The worst thing about the con was seeing someone with “tr*ps r gay” on a paper visor in which I blurted “No they’re not.  And they’re transphobic” and I just wanted to punch them all day.

I also hoped to find a Rabite plush merch but I didn’t find any unfortunately.

But I did go to the marker place that toldentops showed me last year and drew one myself:

I really like it!

I spent $185 on merch and art, $25 on parking, $15 on food, and $75 on the ticket for a total of $300 on AX today.  I have no regerts.

   1. My first anime

That’s kind of a tricky question, because I know I watched some (edited dubs of) anime when I was really little without having a clue that it was Japanese (like this one), but I have a hard time counting those as my first real anime. I guess Pokemon? Though I think I still didn’t really know what anime was until I started watching stuff like Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, and Rurouni Kenshin on Cartoon Network.

   2. My favorite anime

This is such a hard question. But I’ll stick with my usual answer of Princess Tutu. There are series I like more overall, but most of them were based on manga and changed/removed stuff and/or didn’t animate the whole story, which makes it harder to wholeheartedly love them as anime. BnHA is pretty promising so far, though.

   3. The first anime character I was obsessed with

Um…hmm. Probably Kenshin? I think?

   4. My anime OTP

There are pairings I like a lot, but not really one I can point to and say “Yes, that’s THE OTP for me”. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

   5. An anime I can’t stand

Hmm…no specific titles are coming to mind, because how can I say I can’t stand it if I’ve never seen it? And I’m pretty good at picking things I at least think are okay (and when I don’t, I usually drop them before it gets further than “Eh, this isn’t my thing”). But in general, harem/ecchi anime. I’ll roll my eyes and put up with fanservice if the rest of the series is interesting, but when it feels like the only point is boobs and panty shots and how many girls will be fawning over the MC, I stay far away.

   6. An anime I want to watch

Hmm…I think I’ll go with Hunter × Hunter for this one. With all the streams available these days, it’s so much easier to try anything I’m interested in that I don’t have nearly as many “I really want to see this someday!” series as I used to. I’ve deliberately held off on HxH though, because I don’t want to be left hanging or forget about it if it goes on hiatus again. I’ll definitely get to it someday, though.

   7. An anime I never finished

Ahaha…most of them, especially in the past. And not even because I didn’t like them! Either I got distracted and just never came back to them (this happened a lot while waiting for the next DVD release), or I loved them so much I didn’t want them to be over so I could never bring myself to see the ending.

   8. The most recent anime I finished

Death Parade! A bit darker/creepier in places than I normally go for, but I really, really enjoyed it. I may or may not have reblogged this meme just because of this question >.>;

   9. An anime I never thought of watching but fell in love with

I’m going to say Tokyo Ghoul for this one, even though I went for the manga first rather than the anime when I finally gave it a try and am really disappointed with how the anime was handled. Please give us a FMA Brotherhood-style reboot? Please? ;-; I avoided it for a long time because it seemed too dark and gorey for me especially with the whole…eating people thing. I’m so glad I did eventually check it out, though. It’s an amazing series and it really helped keep me going last year. I haven’t enjoyed it quite as much lately as I used to, but I think it’ll always be a bit special to me.

   10. My favorite genre of Anime

Supernatural. 8DDD Especially if it takes place in the modern world.

   11. Shonen or Shojo

Both. I think I watch more shōnen overall,  but I’ve seen a lot of good series in both and I wouldn’t want to give up either.

   12. My favorite anime character of all time

Can’t pick just one. Nope. Impossible. I can cut it down to five at best. (A year ago I might have gone with Kaneki, but these days they’re all tied again X’D)

   13. An anime that I introduced to a friend

I…can’t really pick one? I mean, any friend I could possibly introduce to anime gets shown as many series as I think I can get away with without annoying them, so there isn’t really one…oh wait! There was one coworker at my old job; she knew nothing about anime, but she loved dark/horror/thriller movies. I gave her the first DVD of Death Note for Christmas one year. We didn’t talk about it all that much, so I’m not completely sure what she thought of it, but she at least liked it enough to borrow the rest of the series from me, so… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

   14. The anime that I am currently watching

Right now I’m keeping up with at least nine series weekly. I watch other things while I wait for new episodes, but I just finished a couple series (one with my mom, one on my own) and haven’t decided what to watch next.

   15. An anime that never gets old no matter how many times I watch it

I don’t actually rewatch things that often, especially these days. The closest I usually come is reading the manga myself, then watching the anime with my mom (going by that definition, I’ve enjoyed the hell out of Boku no Hero Academia and Ao no Exorcist even knowing what’s going to happen). I’m going to be rewatching Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works soon, so we’ll see how that goes. I’d get tired of anything if I rewatched it too often, though.X’D

   16. If I own any anime merchandise

Oh boy do I. (°∀°) I collect figures, playing cards, and keychains more than anything else right now (especially figures), but I have a ton of plushies and charms and more wallscrolls than I could possibly put up in my room, plus a bunch of other stuff (mugs and glasses, a fleece throw, a couple pocketwatches, a lighter, a beach set, puzzles, magnets…I pick up a lot of different stuff at cons X’D).

   17. Yaoi or Yuri

Neither, if we’re talking about them as genres/tropes. I’ve tried to watch a couple “typical” yaoi series, and I couldn’t get farther than an episode or two. If we’re just talking two men or two women in a relationship, then I still couldn’t choose one over the other because it’s about the individual characters and their relationship for me, not what gender they are. (That said, more of my favorite characters are guys, so I usually wind up with more m/m pairings I’m interested in.)

   18. If I’ve ever been to an anime convention

Yes! (≧∇≦)/ I’ve gone to my local con every year since 2005 (wow, I feel old), and there’s another one I’ve been to a couple times as well.

   19. Who is my favorite anime voice actor

Suwabe Junichi. (*ﾟ▽ﾟ*) I love his voice so much (；ヮ；) (and it doesn’t hurt that he’s done some of my favorite characters, haha). I’ve checked out series I might otherwise have passed over just because he was in them. ^^; I have a shortlist of super favorite VAs but he’s at the top.

For English VAs, probably Chris Patton or Vic Mignogna.

   20. Sub or Dub?

Sub, though I don’t hate dubs and even prefer them for a few series. Usually I get attached to whichever cast I hear first. In the past, that was more often dubs on TV and DVD; these days I watch a lot of streams/simulcasts so I mostly see subs (I also enjoy trying to pick out words in the Japanese dialogue; sometimes I can understand a line without the subs and I’m very proud of myself X’D).

   21. If I could have any anime character’s hair style, who would it be

Why can’t I think of anything for this, I know I’ve seen some I really loved. ;OTL Uh…something long (at least waist length, if not knee) and thick, probably pulled away from the face in a ponytail or braid. Which isn’t too far from my RL hair aside from the “thick” part. ^^;

   22. Manga or Anime?

I can never properly answer this question, haha. Story-wise, I usually prefer whichever came first. Most of the time, that means manga. I also love the art for a lot of manga. But having color and motion and sound really adds to the experience for me. So…both. X'DD

My mom watches almost everything that I do.

It’s pretty much all I listen to. X'DD Not because I don’t like other music; I just wouldn’t even know where to start with it. I tend to be more a fan of individual songs than bands/singers, so I just go about my life and when I hear a song I like I add it to my list. Yes, a friend of a friend tried to start one in our local library. I went to most of the meetings and a good chunk of the anime we watched were from DVDs I brought. X’D We just watched them, though; there wasn’t a whole lot of discussion or “club-like” atmosphere, and it kind of stopped happening after a while.
