Who Is Dean?

Dean, Dean, Dean... How the tables have turned, no? I remember when you were just some sour-faced, spoil sport who barely knew how to hold a ten second conversation. To your credit, you were also hardly interested in holding a ten second conversation. Well, look at you now. Not only were you at the height of scandal but now you’re, what? One of us? A true Upper East Sider? You certainly have the trust fund for it now and with daddy dearest out of the way, well, there’s truly nothing holding you back. Good for you. I have to ask... Do you feel like a sellout yet? I mean, it’s a little more difficult to act like you’re too high and mighty to sink to our level when you’re wearing the Chanel boots. A Little Extra

Dean Dawson has always kept himself to himself. After all, the less people you care about, the less people who can end up hurting you and Dean knew all about hurt. With a father like his... Well, how could you not? Despite putting on a mean face, there was always one person who could see right to the heart of him: Jesse Walker. Dean wasn’t used to having someone who just wanted to hang out with him- no ulterior motives, no hidden agendas. Of course, Jesse was a kid at the time offering him half of his homemade sandwiches but still, you can never be too careful. Jesse became his best friend, brother, anchor in the shitstorm that was Dean’s life. There is no one more important to Dean than Jesse Walker. If anyone taught him how to love, how to feel safe, it was him and his family who took him in at every opportunity. Call it cliché but Dean always acted like an asshole to hide how much pain he was in. What’s a better defense than sarcasm and a scowl?

With so much love for Jesse, you can imagine just how terrible he felt about himself knowing how head over heels in love he was with Rose Haven. Who was Rose at the time? Only Jesse’s girlfriend (awkward). Well, Dean was used to not getting what he wanted anyway. But then they kissed and it was game over. Now, you might be expecting there was some big Serena-and-Blair style blowout over this but no, not with Jesse. He supported Dean’s happiness even if it was a little bittersweet at first. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the beginning of a happy love story. Dean still had a lot of issues to overcome, a lot of insecurity and self-inflicted guilt. Dean loved Rose so damn much but... They could just never get it together. Then Dean suddenly had bigger things to worry about. Long story short, Dean’s abusive father turned up dead and assuming his mom had--- Well, he took the fall before anyone could stop him. Things were looking pretty bleak to say the least. Enter: a secret sister reveal and filthy rich grandparents. Dean was suddenly cleared of all suspicion and whatever charges, case conveniently thrown out and ruled ‘natural causes’. Of course, reputation has a way of sticking but with a shiny new trust fund and a house he could feel safe in for the first time in his life, Dean was a new man - in theory.

Dean was reluctantly pulled into the original Gossip Girl Takedown(TM). Jesse was playing the hero and Dean had no choice but to tag along before the lovable idiot got himself hurt. As for what Gossip Girl has on him, well. You’d shudder to think, wouldn’t you? Like, for example, that little thing he and Sapphire Vandervort had...

Jesse Walker - the best friend, better half, light in his terribly dark life... Dean loves Jesse - they’re family, always.

Rose Haven - girlfriend, ex-girlfriend, love of his life. Every time they take one step forward, they take two steps back. Now, if only they could just be happy, you know?
