Thinking more about Ruan Mei and I am trying to grapple with the fact that on some level in a way I can’t describe, I feel super strongly connected to her and in a way either understand or even relate to her

But like, I can’t fully explain it properly

Something about even with her strong knowledge, she is still struggles to properly feel and properly express and understand certain emotions and it’s one among the many factors of why she ends up being almost like a hermit (which OOF I had joked to myself she’s just like me fr when they called her a hermit but after the quest its hitting a bit too hard)

Even in her mannerisms, I can’t help but relate and it’s also part of why I think I ended up liking her a lot. I’ve seen a lot of people consider her deeply like evil or something or like she’s very hateful and malicious when she truly never came across that way to me and I just.. can’t see that. I can see the mad scientist in her, there’s no denying that. But she comes across as extremely morally ambiguous and perhaps a bit obsessive regarding her research rather than actively cruel or mean and I firmly believe she’s intended to come across that way looking at her dialogue and the way she behaves. I just can’t see her as evil or anything, probably because there are parts of her behaviors I know well

And again a huge part of my love for her comes from how her story and character is tied to the Aeons, and I fucking adore Aeon lore, I am praying for more like PLEASSEE

Sherlock Holmes: verses

(Note: Will add more or remove some in the future. Also a possibility of Gemini appearing in these verses too.)

Verse: Changed Man (Post Season 2 AU)                        After faking his death, Sherlock Holmes went on a mission to bring down Moriarty’s empire with Mycroft’s assistance. When he finished the last strands of the consulting criminal’s empire by means of going undercover, he was then captured, realizing too late that he stepped into a trap. This caused for him to lose contact with his brother who was under the impression that his radio silence meant he’d been working under the radar.

Months of torture upon capture, thanks to alternate usage of drugs keeping him high at one point while keeping him pliant on another, it messed with Sherlock’s brain. Having to hang onto the fact that he needed to survive, Sherlock Holmes had to make the hard choices, causing him to stand to the brink of sanity. Eventually breaking him, giving his enemies the opportunity to build him back the way they wanted him be. The way he’s intended to become.

Now back in Baker Street, Sherlock Holmes had no memory of who he used to be. Now he is placed back in London under orders, working to fulfill his duty and his thirst for blood as what he’s been told.

Because wouldn’t it be fun if the consulting detective comes back from the dead, high-functioning and looking all well in appearance but willing to kill in order to survive?

Verse: Six Months (Post Season 3 AU)                        Without John Watson’s knowledge, shooting Charles Augustus Milverton meant death for Sherlock Holmes. The consulting detective was placed on MI6 and work with them as his punishment for shooting the man, something he will never regret if it meant to save John. This means that Sherlock Holmes will have to work with everyone in the MI6, going out to the field for missions and even providing assistance within the HQ at times. Mycroft’s verdict is that he’d last six months. But if he’d been working with the best of the best, would it be bold to assume that he could last more than that? After all, shooting someone in cold blood for the safety of others would also mean something, wasn’t it?

Verse: Frailty of Genius (MI6 AU)                        Sherlock Holmes was recruited to work in MI6 and decided to accept the offer when he realized that he’d encounter more idiots in New Scotland Yard than people like Greg Lestrade who’d take his advice into account.

With a mission he had however, Sherlock was hit in the head hard after discovering something crucial for MI6. When he gained consciousness, he had no memory of his life as a consulting detective nor with the people whom he held dear in his life.

Though he’s back in the MI6, he barely remembers the people. Interestingly enough, he apparently made a connection to some of them prior to his accident.

For a while, he was to stay within the HQ and work behind the desk or in the lab as he once again goes through the process of knowing every single people he worked with. Though sometimes, he’s being sent to the field still but only to assist, since his brain is still surprisingly sharp after passing the examination given to him before reporting back to work. Whenever he tried to remember, Sherlock tend to suffer headaches especially when put under pressure. Was it necessary for him to remember the past? Or was it something that he shouldn’t bother anymore? Things are going well after all. Yet somehow, there are moments where he feels like there’s a hole within his brain that he craves to fill. And somehow, his heart feels the same too.

What had he forgotten about?

Verse: Left Behind (Vampire AU)                        Sherlock Holmes walked the Earth for more than he could remember. He was once human; he knew that fact. But the person who turned him into a creature of the night, his maker, was someone he couldn’t recall. At least not anymore.

Now working as a consulting detective, he decided to live his days in Baker Street while keeping a good amount of supply in the blood bank for him to live and survive. He wouldn’t want others to suffer his own fate and though he never denied that he wasn’t human. He never raised the discussion to anyone either.

Though sometimes, he had to live with the boredom. After all, he’d seen it all. The rise and collapse of humanity due to their own doing.

SHE NEEDS TO FEED ? GOOD THING HIS PLAN INVOLVES BLOOD, RIGHT ? William doesn’t bother keeping up the vaguely pained half - smile when he turns away from her, and before he’s taken more than half a dozen strides away from her, his expression has fallen into its usual grim look. The scent of smoke from her cigarette only just catches in his lungs as he begins to head away from her and towards the diner, and makes him itch for one of his own. But! He shakes that compulsion free with a toss of his head.

He has bigger plans today.

The trap is simple: not his blood, not his injuries, but another’s. He has more than enough blood to spare what with his… activities… some of it older, yes, but a lot of it fresh. He has no idea if the smell will tempt or startle Ollie into coming closer — but is certain he can figure something out if it fails. He’s a scientist, he reminds himself, sort of, anyway. Experimentation is where he should thrive.

And so the diner doors are pushed open, the smells of stale air and frozen tragedy hanging thick in the room around him. For once, he wastes no time looking around. He has work to do. Carefully gathering the page he’d left for Ollie, while also collecting some of the blood from the abandoned party rooms. Splattering it on the floor, painting the place red. For a horrible moment, he’s back with his son, hearing those metal teeth grind down, watching blood spill—

Not now. Don’t let the past hold back the future. William takes a breath, tells himself this will all be worth it, and finishes his work.

A flask of his own blood joins the rest on the floor, while he positions himself very carefully out of sight from anyone standing at the diner’s entrance. If Ollie comes in, William will very quickly seal the entrance: trapping himself and his daughter within, a mix of the usual deadbolts and also holy water, given to him by a very boring old priest whose chatting he’d endured to get the flask. All the other entrances and exits are closed off, to humans and the undead . . . He can only hope this is enough.

. . . If Ollie isn’t fooled, he has the sense this may be one of the last mistakes he ever makes.

But such a large amount of blood, along with the violent history behind this place, might just be enough to startle her into entering.

Last evening I rewatched Il giovane favoloso and decided to try a programme screen-to-gif to capture some scenes, I wanted to collect the most large number of parts with the Leopardi siblings and I managed to create almost 22 gifs, until at some point Raiplay went coocoo bananas and happened this:

One of the things I truly love about Zenkaiger is, you know, its economy of storytelling. An even if the episode I can freely tell you are pretty much "filler", they communicate a lot about the characters, so they are not.

My favorite example for that is Yatsude's relationship with Stacy, because, well, she's basically that one type of mentor which is a kind person who helps them a lot but the team is trying to keep a secret from them (Like Yamato's Uncle in Zyuohger or Nozumu's Dad in Goseiger) but her obliviousness of Stacy's exact alignment in the whole conflict turn out to be probably the most important part of the thing.

After all, Kaito met Stacy for the first time as a Tojitendo soldier, and had a fight and an almost complete arc in which he was the main antagonist and probably never thought much about him beyond that, but, as soon as he discovers that, without the context of been the enemy, he's actually a nice kid, he's forced with the possibility that maybe Stacy is more than what he knows about him.

The best part though, about Yatsude's role in all this, is her reaction to Stacy's confession. Because, if you have seen the other 2 series, you know that Yamato's Uncle and Nozumu's Dad eventually eventually figure out the secret and they accept the truth understanding the situation. So, Yatsude understanding and accepting Stacy's confession not only make me cry every single time I see it, it's also a reference. Or a callback if you will.

It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize I roleplayed a lot. Like, sure buddy, you playing a distressed garbage man who threw garbage into the abyss for a living and went insane after his best friend betrayed him and tried to kill him countless times including even getting him hospitalized on multiple occasions definitely wasn't roleplay, it was just a little past time!

When joking about how ridiculous it is that Fabian is popular I don’t think people realize how insanely cool the bad kids are in universe. As viewers we see their cool moments but we also see them being dorks and lame idiots. Think about their in universe reputations and how you would react to hearing about them if you lived in the same world as them.

There is a group of six people who saved the world 3 different times before they even entered their junior year of high school.

One of them never showed up to any of their classes until their third year and still passed. She is a rockstar and arch devil of rebellion who owns a recording studio in hell where she plays the bass.

One dude threw the greatest party the entire high school has ever seen, is captain of the sports team, and killed the school’s evil principal without facing any punishment.

One performed a motorcycle kick-flip that was doing a jump off of a mansion’s roof into a pool of flaming tartar sauce. Said kick-flip student has created a god, killed that god, brought herself back from the dead, and resurrected a completely different god.

One of the girls is the chosen oracle of all elves and punched her dad so hard he instantly died. Also if you dig deep enough into the political history books it turns out she caused there to be a feud (bordering on full war) between her home nation and the nation she currently lives in.

The quietest kid of the bunch is a super genius who invented a solar lasso that captured and contained an eldritch horror into his van, took 4 years of high school all at once and passed all of them, is currently acing his arcane mechanics and physical Ed studies, and is the second hand man on the school sports team. He also is the drummer for the arch devil’s band and launched a fully working satellite into space before he even started studying arcane mechanics.

Finally the “dork” of their group is an arcane consultant of heaven, became a P.I. after freshman year, is currently in every extra-curricular school club, and is beloved by seemingly all of his underclassmen. Also after he found out that the dragon his party was fighting ate his dad he fucking ATE IT to avenge him.

Obviously we know the truth behind all of these things and the actual way these six dorks act, but think how insanely sick they all sound in universe.

Man oh man, this one was way messier and off model than my last few updates but whatever, we got to keep this ball rolling! Life's been crazy so I've had to take some unwanted breaks in between updates. Thanks everyone for your patience as always!

One thing I wanted in this flashback was to really get a sense of how the brothers worked as an experienced team with Leo at the helm as a proper leader. It's something we never got to see much of in Rise and I felt it was important to include since half the team is already gone by the time of Replica. Team Dynamics Ted Talk under the cut!

We know from Casey Jr that Leo stressed the importance of listening to your team. A big part of that also means knowing how to communicate with them in general.

With Michelangelo, he keeps it short and succinct, trusting his brother to know what he's doing when in his element. This trust goes a long way with Mikey, having spent years of his youth as the baby striving for the respect he felt he deserved. Leo knows it's best to not bog Mikey down with details, allowing him to improvise as needed. This unspoken freedom has only grown over time as Mikey has dipped deeper into spiritual arts that, frankly, go completely over Leo's head.

The greatest sacrifice Leo has ever made was read Donnie's Big Book of Bad Guy Codes. While he doesn't remember ALL the numbers, he has memorized the ones that matter and it has helped tremendously in avoiding miscommunication with his genius brother. More importantly it silenced any of Donnie's usual belly-aching. As Leo's "twin"/"equal" the two still butt heads from time to time. Donnie respects his brother's authority (mostly) but will still push the boundaries of what he's allowed on a semi-regular basis. Give Donnie an inch and he will take the mile and then find a loop hole that allows him to go twenty miles more. This is partially due to him often being the one left behind at HQ, making the turtle just a TAD stir crazy. Leo does his best to keep him in line regardless.

Big brother Raph will forever and always be big brother to Leo. As such he holds a place of authority in Leo's heart and is someone he still regularly seeks counsel from in both the ways of leadership and more. Raph is always happy to support his younger brother and does a surprisingly good job (albeit after years of practice) of walking the line so as not to step on his brother's toes in the process. At least not since the secret of "the Key" blew up in their faces several years ago. They don't talk about that anymore. Leo is the leader now and he's done a great job in recent years as far as Raph is concerned. He trusts him to make the right call. The two have a close bond and regularly use mind meld to quickly communicate rather than speak ...this will be important to remember for the future.
