大家好! Palestinians in Gaza who're able to get their hands on food distributed by aid agencies survive mainly on canned food and flat bread. So I opened a carton of sweet corn kernels for my simple breakfast on Wednesday, which was a public holiday, out of compassion for them. Whilst I was eating, I came across the following video which gives us some insight into why the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza is so arduous. The second highlights Israeli settlers trying to make a land grab in West Bank whilst the war in Gaza is going on. The third provides proof that weapons supplied by the US were used in the destruction of Khan Younis; schools, shops and residences have all been reduced to rubble.

Since Wednesday was a public holiday, Pa and I had lunch together. We went to a Hainanese cafe which, besides selling local coffee, tea and breakfast foods, also serves Hainanese pork chops with rice, Hainanese chicken curry, as well as laksa and another local favourite, mee siam. Mee siam is a bee hoon (rice vermicelli) dish with hardboiled egg, mini taupok (bean puff) cubes and bean sprouts in a tangy sweet broth. Mine is a somewhat zhnged (elevated) version with prawns, omelette strips, mini tau pok cubes, bean sprouts and a sprinkle of fried shallots. This bowl was also less sweet than the ones found at local food stalls and cafes; it was so delicious that I wiped the bowl clean!

I revisited the stall owned by the middle-aged couple from China. There's a perpetual line of customers waiting to place their orders so they are doing very well! I wasn't surprised since the dishes I've tried so far have been excellent value for money. I chose ji pa la mian (chicken cutlet handpulled noodles). It's usually served dry, but I asked if they would make it soupy and they obliged. $6.50 got me a large bowl of la mian, blanched crunchy bak choy and crispy chicken. Mmm yum, this was GOOD! The chicken was well marinated, the la mian QQ and slurpable and the light broth wasn't too salty. Definitely will return to try their other noodles!

What an eventful week this has been! It began with the ICC prosecutor seeking arrest warrants for Israeli and Hamas parties believed to have committed crimes of humanity or war crimes. Then, Norway, Ireland and Spain recognised Palestine as a state. Now, the ICJ has ordered Israel to halt its offensive in Rafah. The dark cloud hanging over Gaza is starting to shimmer with more silver linings. Palestinians have been suffering for over 7 months now. Over 35,000 have tragically perished, over 77,000 wounded, much of their critical infrastructure including homes, hospitals and schools are destroyed and mass starvation is occurring in the war-torn strip. May this be the beginning of the end to this genocidal war.

This weekend I'm in for a treat. It's Saturday in this region; Grace is cooking huang jiu ji mian (yellow wine chicken noodles) for lunch. I'm so excited! This delicious dish isn't something one easily finds at dining establishments. The one that I knew served it has closed down and even then, their version isn't as fragrant. Grace and Douglas use plenty of old ginger, garlic and a more expensive brand of wine, so theirs is more delicious. This pretty much wraps up a great week. May there be more of them! 下次见!

Clash above the clouds a Saihen of the Sound story 4
The passenger area was one of the most lavish places Saihen had seen in his life. The crystal lights than hung from the ceiling cast a calming light over the ornate tables positioned between each of the plush cushioned benches. The din of chatter was admittedly slightly overwhelming so he approached a man in a uniform bearing the airship’s emblem. The man was a mountain towering over Saihen and was built like a Akimichi.
“Excuse me” The man’s eyes darted down to meet Saihens “Could you point me in the direction of the sleeping area?” “No idea” rumbled the mountain.
“Well that was super helpful” Saihen muttered before he walked off.
After a few minutes of searching he found a sign pointing up a flight of stairs with a bed on it. “Well it couldnt be any more obvious than that” His limp made the stairs more of a hassle than they truly needed to be but he still felt the disguise necessary for now at least.
Doors lined both sides of the hallway. Most of them were occupied according to the dials on the doors. Some of them judging from the muffled sounds he heard werent being used for sleeping. At last he found a open door. “Finally some peace and q-” As he stepped into the room he saw a male figure clad in a black jacket sitting on the floor in front of a Go board. The man’s jacket hung open revealing a mesh undershirt that did very little to hide the well toned body underneath. “Looking for some peace im assuming? This place is so damn crowded. You are more than welcome to stay if you want. I would enjoy some competition” The mans voice was deep and washed through the room like the waves of the ocean.
As Saihen entered the room he glanced into the corners to make sure they were actually alone. He grabbed one of the many tatami mats on the floor and slid it over in front of the board before sitting on it. He looked up at the man across from him. His wide face had gentle features to it, his eyes were a light violet. His cheeks were slightly chubby proving no matter how fit you were some people are stuck with a baby face. The only proof this man had ever seen combat was a scar on the bridge of his nose where a break had healed.
“I thank you for the invitation my name is Saihen.” He gave a slight head bow. He had no way of knowing who this man was and assumed it best to cover his bases.
The man chuckled and then his bellowing laugh filled the room it continued for a few moments before he stopped and had to suck in some air. “Sorry sorry. I mean no disrespect friend I merely find it humorous you would show me respect. My name is Mokuzai and I am what you would call a ronin. I deserve none of this song and dance of respect. Just treat me how you would a theif or beggar. For I am no higher than them.”
“All people deserve respect Mokuzai. I wouldnt judge a theif just for stealing or a beggar for having hard times I cant possibly know the events that lead up to that and as such cant form a true judgement of them” Saihen said
Mokuzai with a smile still on his lips “Careful there Saihen, people might not much like being told that beggars and theives arent the trash of society. If they have to see them as people then they might have to actually do something about it. But enough of this heavy talk let us play”
Saihen picked up a stone and placed it on the board. “So what brings you here Mokuzai?” Mokuzai thinks for a moment before placing his stone down. “Oh you know just traveling the country looking for something exciting. You?” Saihen places his stone and a stacatto clack echoes through the room. “Looking for an old friend. Hoping to get the group back together.” Clack “What kind of group? Like a band?” Clack “No. More like a…activist group” Clack “Oh? What do you guys protest?” Clack “Now we protest the unfair treatment of the lower classes by those above them. People arent all equal however thats no reason to not respect and help when its needed.” Clack “You say now. What was the goal before you guys split? What made the split? Clack "The previous members ended up becoming puppets for the very thing they were against. Then whwn the war happened none of them made it.” Clack “Jeez Saihen.  Sounds alot alike what happenend to this group I heard of. They were actually the ones behind the war. But before then they helped the smaller villages. They trained them to fight. They even lent money when needed. I cant remember their name.” Clack Saihen had to struggle to keep from reacting to his words. To keep those emations locked away he didnt know if this man was friend or foe. “Sounds like a..interesting group of individuals” Clack “Yeah they were I really thought they had the right idea.” Clack “Enough about me though. Whats your current go-”
A earsplitting screech filled the air. The two looked at each other leaping to their feet and in unison. “Stay here” “What? Me?” “You”
Saihen was incedibly confused as to why this civilian would tell him to stay. Until he looked at the wall behind Mokuzai there resting on the floor where it was hidden by his body was a katana. The sheath was a pale blue with no adornments other than a simple circle with what appeared to be a triangle in it. “Samurai” Saihen reached down and hit the emergency release on the limp boot Pidge made and lifted his foot out of it. He flicked a kunai into his hand ready to fight. “Saihen look I mean you know harm. I swear unless you are the one behind that scream we are not enemies.” Mokuzai held up his hands in surrender. “However if you want to live I need you to hit the deck right this second”
Saihen decided this man was not a threat and dove to the floor. As he did the door erupted into dozens of kunai flying through the air where he just stood. Saihen looked up to warn Mokuzai only to stop mid way. The kunai lay at his feet and his sheath in his hand. He launched himself forword through the door. A few moments later a woman came flying through head first. Clad in black pants and a matching jacket .As she reached the ground she merely pushed off her hand and landed on her feet behind Saihen.  He felt a hand yank him up. Her arm circled his throat and he felt something metal press against his temple. “One more step and your boyfriend here gets a entire clip of kunai through the head”
Mokuzai lowered his sheath slightly “Im sorry Saihen. Idont know what to do here” “Its fine you did well” The womans arm dropped from his throat and Saihen stepped forword and turned to look at her. Her entire body stood rigid her upon her face played a dance of emotions between anger fear and despair. “WHY CANT I MOVE YOU SCUM?! WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME” Mokuzai stood there with a look of confusion on his face.
Saihen looked her in the eyes. “Who are you and what are you doing here?” “LET ME GO WHY WOULD I TALK TO YOU” Saihen moved the fingers on his left hand and the womans arm started to aim the kunai launcher at her own stomach. “This shot will kill you it wont be fast nor will it be painless you will lay here unable to move as your body fills with its own waste and acid until youlose enough blood. Now I ask again who are you and what are you doing.”
The womans eyes were darting everywhere looking for a way out finding none the rested on saihen. “I am a pirate from the land of the sky. This was supposed to be a easy haul only civilians.” Saihen smirked “Good. Now how many are on this vessal.” She struggled and finding she was still unable to move spat at him “More than you could ever hope to defeat release me and your death will be quick”
Saihen glanced behind him at the still confused samurai. “Mokuzai in about 20 seconds she will be able to move again can you take care of her”
“What? I mean yeah of course.”
“Thank you”
Saihen released his strings from the womans body who instantly fell to her knees her legs exhausted from the struggle. Mokuzai walked over towards her and stood in front of her.
“You came here and tried to attack what you thought was a unarmed civilian with no justification other than your greed. Scum lime you dont deserve life ” he brought up his sheath and swung it down at her head. A crunch resounded through the room.
Mokuzai turned and looked at Saihen “You seem to be full of surprises.”
Saihen nodded “Did you kill her?”
Mokuzai glanced down at the body “She deserves it but for all I know she was born into this and knows nothing else. Im not the judge and executioner. So no shes not dead just a bad concussion.”
Saihen nods “A good choice. Want to go see if we can save an airship?”
Mokuzai looks down at the Go board. “Ill let you off the hook this time but next time we play. Got it?”
“Sure”
The two step outside their room into the hallway. Their footsteps silent as they glide across the floor. Saihen reaches a corner and stops. As he slowly peeks around he can see down the stairs into the main room. Bodies are everywhere kunai planted into their backs. Most of them already stripped of every valuable they have.
He whispers to Mokuzai “Its bad multiple people on the ground already stripped of valuables. At least 10 or so pirates still down there. Armed with those kunai launcher They seem to be gaurding a couple dozen prisoners. Possibly to keep as hostages incase they need them”
Mokuzai seems unperturbed by the news of suck violence. “What do we do? I mean I can fight. And quite well I think but ten on two is a bit much”
“What about ten on three? It wouldnt be for  long at all but I can get us some aid ”
Mokuzai’s forehead and after a moment whispers “Yeah I think I can hamdle that. Besides they seem to rely solely on those guns it will just be getting up close fast enough”
Saihen puts his hand on the shoulder of the samurai. “I know we just met and you know nothing about me but if you trust me we can do this. You could just run and I wouldnt blame you one bit. But these people need to be saved.”
Mokuzai smirks “I thought you would say something like that. After all, saving the down trodden, thats what the Akatsuki does isnt it?”
Saihen felt his jaw drop and before he could act Mokuzai had jumped down the stairs and started running towards the nearest enemy Saihen watched in amazement as the samurai got close to the enemy and before they could even notice him swung the sheath of his sword and with a crack the assailant was falling. Before the body even hit the ground Mokuzai was moving to the next target.
However the sound of the impact had alerted the others who were already leveling the kunai launchers towards his new ally. Saihen spread out his fingers and sent out his chakra strings into the room. The distintive thump sounded as multiple launchers fired and kunai sped through the air at Mokuzai’s back. Wha t they didnt account for was the bodies of rhe civilians they killed flying to intercapt the kunai. Two of the bodies hovered behind Mokuzai absorbing the shots. The samurai was nearly as startled as the hostage takers. A few moments later the hostages themselves noticed them and started screaming.
Saihen smirked to himself. Oraochimaru had always taught him to use what he had at his disposal whether it be smoke bombs or dead bodies. “To achieve one’s goal. One must let go of such thoughts as sacred and fair. Let those notions hinder those who arent as motivated as you Saihen”
With a flick of his fingers the bodies started flying at two of the pirates who started screaming and firing at them. So caught up in their terror that they didnt notice the sheath of a sword swinging at their heads. Saihen moved them towards the next group and the next each time either terrifying them or using his new puppets to grab and strangle them or merely keeping attention until Mokuzai could take them down. In a matter of moments all those holding weapons were incapacitated.
Saihen heard Mokuzai proclaim “You are safe now. Theres no need to be afraid.”
Saihen released the bodies from his employ and calmly walked down the stairs to join them. The second the bodies hit the ground. A young child no more than nine years old ran towords one of the kunai ridden bodies and collapsed beside it. The child wore a kimono that appeared to match the one on the famale body.
“MOMMY” the child screamed “MOMMY WAKE UP AGAIN. YOU WERE JUST HERE. DONT LEAVE ME ALONE AGAIN. I WAS SO SCARED BUT YOURE BACK NOW MOMMY MOMMY WAKE UP. PLEASE MOMMY ILL LISTEN LOOK I EVEN TIED MY KIMONO LIKE YOU WANTED SO IT LOOKS NEAT AND YOULL BE PROUD OF ME.” The childs sobs grew louder and prevented him from talking.
Saihen didnt know what to do. He had saved these people lives yet he felt them started to piece together what he was and felt the animosity growing from the crowd as more caught on to what he had done. He caught Mokuzai’s eyes and saw only sadness. He had done everything right though. Saved the people. Prevented more deaths. These were goals worth acheiving and yet they ones he saved now hated him.
Mokuzai strode over to the sobbing child and placed his sword on the ground “Your mom would be very proud of you for that.” The child looked up tears streaming down his face “She would? Then why wont she wake up again? Why is she ignoring me?”
“She is very tired. These men really hurt your mom so she had to go to sleep for good. But in her heart burned a love so strong for you that even death wouldnt keep her from protecting you.”
“Really? Sh- she  always said she would always be there for me”
“And she will be little one” Mokuzais touched the childs chest. “She will always be in here and that love will always be keeping you safe.”
A booming impact hit the sliding door that leadninto the room from the outside. Causing the samurai to look up at it.
“Now though now you have to go back over to those people over there. They are friends of your mom. Theyll keep you safe. Do you understand?”
The child nodded and ran across the room where an ederly woman held them close.
“You guys better open this door or no pay for any of you!” Roared a voice from the other side. Another impact hit the door with a boom.
Mokuzai came and stood behind Saihen.  “You figure this will be the boss?” Saihen nods “How is he outside?”
“Probably a second ship with a bridge to this one. They need somewhere to put the goods ”
“Well. After we beat him. He wont be needing that ship anymore” the samurai smirked.
“I agree” replied Saihen admittedly a little shocked
KA BOOM the door comes flying of its hinges and in comes the unhelpful mountain. Carrying a spiked club “WHERE ARE YOU FOOLS?” He spat into the room. “Cant you even open a do-” The mans eyes darted around the room taking in the scene. His men all on the ground. And two standing before him looking ready for a fight. “I dont know who you two are but your gonna pay for this”
Mokuzai whispers “Ill keep his attention. You find some crafty way to deal with him yeah?”
With that plan in place mokuzai leaped at the brute. Who swung his club faster than saihen could keep up with catching mukuzai in the ribs and sending him crashing into the ground at hiss feet. He spun the club around and started to send it crashing down
Saihen was already moving before the samurai hit the ground. Sprinting at the brute hoping to catch him off gaurd. He was already using threads to spin the knuckles on his right hand. It didnt have as many options yet since he hadnt had time to set it up but it still had the scrolls Pidge had put on it. He felt static fill the air as the lighting formed at his palm. He reached the brute and spun around behind him. He swung it at the brute’s neck hoping the shock would scramble his central nervous system. Instead what happenend was the brute spun around and punched Saihen in the head causing stars to fill his vision and his knees to crumple. The lightning in his palm fizzled out.
“No handsigns yet a fully functional lightning blade. How interesting.” He grabbed the sleeve of Saihens jacket and tore the sleeve off. Revealing his puppet arm. “Now it makes sense. Let me guess scrolls inbedded in the arm? You got alot of bite for a cripple. And it appears I have some openings in my crew. What do you say? Want to join ?”
Saihen weakly shook his head no.
“Well thats too bad looks like I have to kill you.”
Saihen was still to stunned to move. He dimly saw the club falling. Then Mokuzai was there his arms around him carrying him away before the club could hit. He placed Saihen on the ground and put something in his mouth. It tasted like warm tea. “Wha-” “Its a food pill. Itll give you something to focus on while your head stops rattling. Now quickly do you know how he is so fast? With that giant thing he really shouldnt be.”
“Shinobi..he sends all of his chakra to his legs to spin himself around. Probably cant run fast. Just fast moves” Saihen explained his head feeling better as he got to his feet.
“Mokuzai”
The samurai looked at him. “Yes”
“Was your hair always white?”
The samurai smiled “No.”
Then he picked up his katana and unsheathed the blade. Leveling the dark blue sword at his foe “Its your lucky day my friend”
“Oh?” Rumbled the EXTREMELY unhelpful mountain
“You get to meet the greatest being to ever exsist”
“And who might that be?”
“He goes by many names to many different people.  The destroyer. The bringer of salvation. He who waits for all. But to those that have a personal relationship with him he as but one name ”
“And what is that?”
“Jashin”
With that white tattoos spiraled down the samurais arms as he leaped at the brute once again. The club swung up at him only to be blocked by the sword as Mokuzai shot his fist into his opponents face. Actually knocking him back a bit. The man quickly recovered and swung a fist back at Mokuzai who caught it in his hand like he was grabbing a leaf. He leaped up and using the arm as a support kicked with both his legs launching him back to Saihen.
“So mister akatsuki ready to help?”
Up close the tattos apeared to be dragons wrapped around his arms.
“Yes lets finish him I have a plan”
“Of course you do”
“Can you keep fighting him like this?”
“Not for a extended period of time but for abit longer yes”
“Keep doing that then”
The samurai smirked and leaped back into battle keeping up with his for blow for blow. His sword landing cuts at each opening. His opponent roaring in pain and frustration as he keep trying to fight.
Saihen openend the palm of his right hand and focused his chakra threads through it weaving them together into a ball hanging from a single thread. He gave it a few test swings then waited until Mokuzai blocked the club “HOLD IT” He commanded. The samurai nodded and held the club in place as Saihen leapt into the fight swinging his arm towords the head of the brute. Who easily blocked it with his free hand.
“Really cripple I thought you would learn fast”
Saihen couldn’t keep the smirk off his face. This foe for all his strength and speed was just another idiot.
“Oh I do. And before you die ill give you the honor of knowing my name.”
“And what makes you think ill die”
“Well you blocked my arm. Which was smart dont get me wrong. You saw a fist and you blocked. What you didnt see was rhe ball of chakra threads that were hanging from it and once you blocked my attack the moment of the ball sent it wrapping around your throat and head before  I dispersed the threads all over the back of your body. Even now youll find you cant move. I cant hold you for long admittedly. But I dont need to”
Saihen felt the man trying to move to no avail.
“Who are you?”
Saihen moved the threads causing the man to fall to his hands and knees.
“I am Saihen  of the Akatsuki.”
He steps back knowing from his interactions with hidan what is about to come
“And I am Mokuzai of the Akatsuki” As the samurai swung his blade cleaving head from shoulders and spinning in same motion sheathing his blade.
Saihen looked at him “Of the Akatsuki? You know its a shinobi organization?”
The samurai smiled “It used to be. Besides we have a game of Go to finish and I cant be seen with the head of a criminal organization. I mean unless I too was a member”
“Fair enough”
From outside the heard a amplified voice. “We have received your distress signal this is Mai of the leaf anbu unit we are coming aboard to assist.”
“Shit not again ” Saihen muttered
“Friends of yours?”
“You could say that. Wanna steal a ship?”
“I thought youd never ask”
Saihen ran and picked up a kunai launcher before running across the rope bridge connecting the leaf airship to the sleeker pirate one. He glanced up to see a anbu airship hovering above the leaf ship with anbu sprinting down the side.
Mai was leading them of course. Saihen gestured once they were across the bridge and Mokuzai sliced it detaching the two. The leader of anbu stopped and looked at Saihen “YOU WONT GET AWAY AGAIN”
“Get this ship moving if you would Mokuzai” he commanded. “Of course” the samurai enetered the ship and a few moments later Saihen felt it start to move.
The Anbu leader shouted “OUR SHIP CAN CATCH YOU.YOU SCUM”
Saihen inserted on of his kunai into the launcher “Perhaps”
He fired it up towords the anbu.  It missed them all by dozens of feet.
“YOU MISSED”
“If it had a engine that is”
The tag on the kunai ingnited on impact sending lightning through the engines of the anbu ship.
Saihen turned and walked into his new ship and moved into the control room. Taking a seat beside his new partner. The samurai looked up “Where to?”
Saihen pulled out the map he got from Kaika. And pointed to the spot she had circled. “Here”
The samurai nodded and adjusted the controls. “You got it.”
Saihen relaxed as the ship moved towards the horizon.
“Its a good day Mokuzai”

howdy its cool to see a new bnha blog pop up! so i thought id just send a headcanon request your way, how about bakugou, izuku, annnd uh, shinsou (i know some people dont like writing for him so if thats the case here then feel free to make the third one who ever you want!) when they are having a rough time so their s/o surprises them with their fav food/treat that they made themselves cause they worry about their boi and wanna make sure they eating AND are happy AND they just love them lots
Howdy right back! And don’t even worry about Shinsou, I LOVE that boy. This request is so pure too
Tumblr media
Izuku:
It’s not often that you see Izuku skulking or being depressed. This sweet boy is almost always all smiles and flushed cheeks around you.
But when he does get really upset about something, he usually tends to keep it to himself so that he doesn’t upset you. Izuku thinks it’s best if he takes on the burden himself and doesn’t want to risk ruining your mood with his own. The way you find out that he’s been having a tough day is probably due to the fact that he’s a bit more reclusive than usual, and almost comes across as distant.
Of course, you know him well enough that he wouldn’t get upset at you for no reason, so you figure there’s gotta be something else on his mind.
“Izuku-kun, is everything alright?” You’ll probably ask him something along those lines, and he’ll try to force a smile back but you can tell that he’s in the dumps. “I guess…I’ve been better.”
With a little encouragement, he’ll tell you exactly what’s been going on. Izuku isn’t necessarily clingy, but he enjoys feeling close to you and the added skin-on-skin contact will surely help lift his spirits. On top of that, you decide to make him his favorite food: Katsudon (pork cutlet bowl)
You hand it to him with a bright smile and tell him you made it specifically to help him feel better. He might actually get a little teary-eyed to see that you’re putting this much of an effort into helping him out.
Izuku will give you a genuine smile this time and you’ll stay by his side the whole time as he eats his favorite meal.
Tumblr media
Katsuki:
When this guy’s extra upset about something, you’ll catch on right away.
He’s well-known for having a short-fuse, and he’ll probably be cursing 10x as often as he normally does. Katsuki doesn’t really skulk, per se, but he’ll try and distance himself from you by telling you to “piss off” and “stop your damn worrying”.
In the end, you decide that something’s definitely wrong and he needs some cheering up.
Katsuki loves spicy food, so pretty much any kind of meal like that will do the trick, but the fact that you were the one who cooked it makes it a thousand times better.
He’ll probably be scowling somewhere off on his own and you’ll step into the room with a small smile while you carry the tray of food in your hands. “Look what I made~”
“…The fuck?”
At first, he’ll probably just stare at you in confusion, like he doesn’t understand what you’re trying to do, but after you set it down next to him and give him a big hug, he knows that you’re trying to cheer him up.
Katsuk isn’t the best with words, so he’ll probably roll his eyes at you and tell you something like “you didn’t need to do this, moron”. But despite his complaints, he’ll dive into the food right away (being angry probably works up an appetite lmao).
You can gently muss his hair with your fingers while he eats; he finds that pretty calming (even though he’ll never admit to it).
Since you’ve been so patient with him, you might even catch him mutter a low “thank you”.
Tumblr media
Shinsou:
Compared to Izuku and Katsuki, Shinsou is probably the most subtle when it comes to being upset.
He’s pretty quiet to begin with, but when he’s particularly bummed out about something, he literally becomes mute. Shinsou’s not trying to be cold with you or anything, but it’s sometimes a little hard not to take personally when he breezes right past you without saying a word.
You’ll follow behind him with a worried expression. “Are you feeling okay?”
He’ll try to shrug you off and act like it’s nothing. He doesn’t really display his emotions in his expression; it probably just looks a bit more vacant than usual.
You decide to try and surprise him by cooking his favorite meal
When he sees you carrying it over to him with a big smile, his eyes light up just slightly. He doesn’t need to be asked in order to start eating; he’ll silently (and gratefully) accept while you sit beside him.

3 Recipes Today I am going to post 3 recipes in honor of my Mom's side of the family who were from Austria Hungary Empire , I do hope you will enjoy them and make them.
Pork Schnitzel Recipe from Austria 4 boneless pork loin (4, chops 4 boneless pork loin chops, about 5 to 6 ounces each) 1.50 1 1/2-cups all-purpose flour 1.50 cups all-purpose flour add  kosher salt (and freshly ground black pepper) 2  large eggs (2) 0.50 1/2-cup milk 0.50 cup milk 4 4-cups plain dried bread crumbs 2 2-tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 2 2-tablespoons butter 1 1-sprig thyme add lemon wedges Begin by placing each chop between 2 sheets of plastic wrap and gently pounding them out with the flat side of a meat tenderizer until they are an even 1/4-inch thick. Put the flour in a shallow dish and season with salt and pepper. Whisk the eggs and milk in another shallow dish and season with salt and pepper. Put the bread crumbs in a third dish and again season with salt and pepper. Lightly dredge each piece of pork in flour, then in the egg and finally into the bread crumbs, pressing the bread crumbs onto the pork gently so they have a nice even coating. Lay the breaded pork cutlets in a single layer on a plate lined with parchment and refrigerate, uncovered, for 10 to 12 minutes to allow the coating to dry out a little and adhere to the pork. Heat oil and butter in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thyme sprig and let it fry for about 1 minute to infuse the oil. Remove the thyme sprig and reserve. Gently lay the cutlets into the pan and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3 minutes per side. Remove to paper towels to drain. Season with salt and transfer to a serving platter while still hot. Garnish with lemon wedges and the fried thyme sprig before serving.
Austrian Raspberry Shortbread 1 pound (4 sticks) unsalted butter, softened at room temperature 4 egg yolks 2 cups granulated sugar 4 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup raspberry jam, at room temperature 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar In a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (or using a hand mixer), cream the butter until soft and fluffy. Add the egg yolks and mix well. In a medium bowl, stir together the granulated sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to the butter/egg yolk mixture and mix just until incorporated and the dough starts to come together. Turn the dough out onto a floured work surface and form into 2 balls. Wrap each ball in plastic wrap and freeze at least 2 hours or overnight, or as long as a month. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Remove 1 ball of dough from the freezer and coarsely grate the frozen dough into the bottom of a 9 by 12-inch baking pan or a 10-inch tart pan with a removable bottom. Make sure the surface is covered evenly with shreds of dough. With a spoon or spatula, spread the jam over the surface, to within 1/2-inch of the edge all the way around. Remove the remaining dough from the freezer and coarsely grate it over the entire surface. Bake until light golden brown, 30 to 40 minutes. As soon as the shortbread comes out of the oven, dust with confectioners' sugar. Cool on a wire rack, then cut in the pan with a serrated knife.
Gebackene Kohlsprossen - Brussel Sprouts with Ham and Mushrooms Recipe 1 pound Brussels sprouts 1 cup lean cooked ham 1/2 pound mushrooms Sauce: 2 egg yolks 3/4 cup heavy cream 1/4 cup grated Parmesan shopping list 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan to sprinkle on top Simmer 1 pound Brussels sprouts in salted water for about 20 minutes, or until they are tender and drain them. Chop enough lean cooked ham to make 1 cup and slice 1/2 pound mushrooms. Place half the Brussels sprouts in a well-buttered casserole and cover them with alternate layers of ham, the mushrooms and the remaining Brussels sprouts, finishing with a layer of ham. Beat 2 egg yolks into 3/4 cup heavy cream, add 1/4 cup grated Parmesan and pour the sauce over the casserole. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan and bake the Brussels sprouts in a hot oven (400 F.) for 10 to 15 minutes.

Symphogear XD Unlimited - Memoria Card “Christmas Angels” EN TL
Tumblr media
As area volunteers, Hibiki and the others participate in a Christmas gathering for the sake of local children. Their program is an original play.
Tumblr media
Hibiki: Oo-h, what am I gonna have~? A pork cutlet bowl sounds good enough, that I might give up on the ginger pork...... Miku: I've made my decision. Hibiki: Oh, what're you having? Miku: I'm going to go with the seasonal pasta set. Hibiki: Aa-, that sounds tasty too...... Miku: Hibiki, isn't rice your number-one craving? Hibiki:  Yeah, rice is super important, but...... look, if someone were to ask me, it seems like this over here looks pretty tasty...... Hibiki: Ah-! Why do we only have lunch once!? It'd be great if we had more meals in the day! Kirika: I totally agree with that, too! I think it'd be great if we could have meals in a shorter timespan! Shirabe: But that'd be a big problem...... for those working in the kitchen. Miku: Ah, it's Shirabe and Kirika. Hibiki: Oh, Kirika-chan! That's totally it! I really wanna eat lots more! Kirika: Yeah, yeah! We oughta have six meals a day, and even three between-meal snacks! Chris: ......what stupid conversation is going on with you all? Hibiki: Chris-chan! And with that, everybody's present- Chris: With that, what's with this special summoning on our day off for a discussion? Does it have to do with us being members of S.O.N.G.? Hibiki: U-mm, that's not it. Just a little something from school. Chris: Well, alright. I haven't had lunch yet either. You mind if I eat while we chat?
Tumblr media
Hibiki: So then, what I wanted to talk about was putting on a play with everybody! Kirika: A play......? Shirabe: I don't understand the meaning of this conversation...... Chris: Ih' na' tupi ta'. Miku: Jeez...... isn't it bad manners to talk with your mouth full? Chris: Mph, ah~. It's not stupid talk. Why do you want to put on a play all of a sudden? Hibiki: Thing is, if you're talking about a spectacle, you've gotta go with a play! Miku: Jeez, that alone won't get the idea across. Hey, so, Christmas is coming up soon, isn't it? Kirika: Just a few nights of sleep away! Shirabe: I think that's the new year...... Chris: Christmas is a Christian celebration, yeah? That doesn't really concern us, though, right? Miku: In Japan, Christmas doesn't have that relevance; it's for enjoyment. Miku: And with that. Since we're part of Lydian's volunteers in the area, we were talking about the Christmas party. Miku: We're gathering the neighborhood kids who aren't in elementary school yet, and volunteering to show them an enjoyable program...... Chris: ......so that's it. Maybe if there's, like, not enough people and you see trouble popping up, we can help others out by making it our business? Hibiki: Just as expected, Chris-chan. You really understand me! Chris: It's not like I want to...... I'll give that a pass. Hibiki: Aww~, let's try it together~ Kirika: Yeah, that's it! When you make your debut on stage, you'll get a standing operation from everyone! Shirabe: It's "ovation", not "operation", Kiri-chan. Miku: Shirabe, Kirika, would you join in with us? Kirika: Let this great actress-to-be take care of it! Shirabe: If Kiri-chan does it...... Hibiki: Thanks! I've really gotta hold on to these kind juniors~. Chris-chan, how about you? Hey, hey, let's you and me try it out~ Chris: I, I'm telling you, I'll probably give it a pass!
Tumblr media
Miku: Hibiki, you worked hard today. Hibiki: Thanks, Miku. Miku: Oh, and could we talk a little more about the play? With Shirabe and Kirika, too. Kirika: Of course! Shirabe: Sure. Genjurou: Play......? Hey, what are you up to? Hibiki: Yep! For our volunteer activities at school, we're putting on an original play. Genjurou: I see. Volunteer activities, huh? Those are good intentions. Tomosato: If you need to gather costumes or tools, I know of a great shop, if I can jump in on this discussion. Miku: Really? Thanks a lot! Fujitaka: Hey, do you maybe need some rare costumes? Tomosato: ......there's no weird costumes here. Genjurou:  You're missing the heart of it, Fujitaka. Fujitaka: Y, you've got me all wrong. That's not what I intended to ask...... Genjurou: ......hm, and will Chris-kun be participating? Chris: It'll probably be a bother, so I'm giving it a miss. Hibiki: Don't say that! We should still try it out together~ Kirika: I wanna stand up on stage with Chris-senpai...... Shirabe: Mhm, I want to try it out with everyone...... Chris: Oof...... Miku: How about it......? If you're reluctant to go up on stage, it'd be alright if you were a stagehand...... Chris: I, ah...... I hate going on stage, but...... Genjurou: -that's it! If that's the case, then you'll have free time! How about joining me on the mountain for some special training? Chris: Haa!? H, how'd things end up like this? Genjurou: While everyone's putting all their time into the play, you're bound to be the only one free. If so, I think it'd be good if you participated in some secret special training! Chris: I'm fine, thanks! Hibiki: Secret special training...... *gulp* Miku: You're probably thinking about going, aren't you? Hibiki: If I don't go... that's fine too. Genjurou: How about it, Chris-kun? But if you were to participate in the play, it'd be disappointing to see you give up on the training- Chris: Quit asking me about that! Oi, I'll go ahead and volunteer for the play too! Hibiki: You'll do it? Awesome! Chris: Well, I'll take it instead of that special training!
Theater Club President: I'm very thankful, Tachibana-san. You were able to gather this many people...... Hibiki: It's fine, it's fine. More importantly, let's make this play a success with everyone! Theater Club President: Mhm...... your lines are over here and on this cheat sheet as well, so just have fun playing the part without getting too tense. Chris: If I do it, I'm putting my all into it! Hey, you're just acting scared, right? Theater Club President: Ah, the curtain's going up. Please, begin with the narration. Miku: Okay, I'm heading out. Hibiki: Miku, do your best!
Far, far above the clouds. There lived the gods, and two angel sisters.
The older sister was a hasty kind of person. The younger sister was shy. And yet, these two sisters helped each other out, Spending each day for the sake of the gods-
Miku: Whew. Was that okay? Kirika: Right on the money! Theater Club President: Thank you, Kohinata-san. Chris: ......alright, now it's their turn. Kirika: Finally, Shirabe's making her stage debut!
Tumblr media
Hibiki: I'm, um, the older angel sister-. I'm a hasty person, but I'm always helping out my little sister- Shirabe: ......I am her younger sister. As long as I'm with my older sister, I'm able to go out. Chris: There's not an ounce of feeling in that reading. But, maybe it matches. Miku: Yeah, those two seriously look like angels...... so cute...... Kirika: Yeah! The way they can't look anyone in the eye is pretty cute! Chris: Ah, I was thinking the same thing, but, hey, it's a big success! Hibiki: Say, let's go pick flowers at the lake for the gods today. Shirabe: Okay, big sis......
Still Christmas in my time zone, so this still counts! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you; here’s the 5* Memoria from the recent XDU event. I didn’t see a TL up so I decided to speed-solo this so that it’d still be at least somewhat relevant on release time. No quality/TL check this time, so every little mistake is on me more than usual. If you have access to the original source, as always, feel free to point out any errors to me with corrections, and I’ll gladly update and credit!
TL Notes
Hibiki’s mention of ginger pork is literally 生姜焼き - fried/grilled pork with ginger. I left the cooking method out to stay generic. Chris’s garbled speech line is about as weird in the original Japanese: 「ふぁかいっふぇんじゃふぇーよ」/「バカいってんじゃねーよ」, so I tried to approximate that with at least a mild degree of decency. Yes, Kirika literally says “STANDING OPERATION”. 「 スタンディングオペレーション 」 The bit where I’ve put Chris saying “You’re just acting scared, right?” - I think that’s addressed to Hibiki, based on the others’ assessment of the duo’s performance.
If you want more Symphogear XD Unlimited memoria translations, check out the #sxdu-translations tag! I’m not the only one who’s been posting these, so don’t miss out on some fun stories!

Ok I got one. I know U have a hard time writing stuffing but hear me out, person A feeds person B gassy foods on purpose because A gets turned on by it(or just likes to stuff them) 😅😭and person A rubs person B’s stomach. B is shy at first but gives in maybe? I don’t care what couple ❤️
*🤔…..okay. Stuffing is difficult for me to write. Even if it’s just something small, the mere mention of the word just blocks up my mind. Kami knows why, but my mind just blanks when stuffing comes up (it’s irritating because I really like reading stuffing stories 😫). But….I can tell that you really wanted this so…okay. This took me a while to write- in fact, I posted two other asks before this one and I usually like to work on asks based on first come, first serve…but my mind was just blanking on this prompt and I kept deleting and rewriting it.
To be honest, I don’t think this ended up as good as I wished it did, but I tried my best so…here you go anon! 😶
The Back Draft – The hollow, soul-rending fart that surprises even you.
“Here, Любимая. Say, ‘Ahh…’” Victor cooed as he fed his blushing fiancé another spoon of his homemade chili.
And yes, the Russian was very proud of himself that he actually cooked something for the first time.
Not only was it edible, but it actually tasted good too (Victor made sure to taste test it before giving it to his beloved of course).
Since it was still the skating season, Victor made sure to cook something healthy for his fiancé who had a tendency to gain weight easily. So he made a nice bowl of vegetarian chili- with plenty of spices, veggies and beans inside.
“Victor, I can feed myself.” Yuuri insisted, blushing when the other hugged him, burrowing his face in his neck as the Russian shook his head fervently.
“Nope! I just love stuffing my little piggy up so here comes another one!” Victor sang out, bringing another spoonful of chili into his fiancé’s mouth.
Secretly, Victor actually had a feeding kink- but he only discovered this strange liking when he fed his fiancé for the first time back in Japan.
It was during the beginning of their relationship and Victor had playfully brought up his chopsticks towards the Japanese man, urging the other to take a bite of his pork cutlet.
To the Russian’s surprise, Yuuri had actually took the bait and Victor remembered his heart stopping at seeing Yuuri’s lips close around the pork piece before slowly pulling away from the long chopsticks that it was on.
And when Yuuri closed his eyes and let out a happy moan at the taste, licking his lips so seductively…well, Victor quickly placed the cushion that he had been sitting on firmly in his lap where it stayed there for the rest of the night.
“I’m gonna get fat.” Yuuri grumbled, but Victor just used this as an opportunity to shove another spoon of chili into him.
“It’s okay- at least this chili is healthy.” Victor assured him. “And besides, I love when your body gets chubby- especially your tummy! It so soft and squishy and ahhh~” He giddily squealed as he couldn’t help but abandon his chopsticks for a moment to smash himself against the other, playing with the slightly swollen belly between his hands.
“Victor….” Yuuri blushed, trying to swat the other’s grabby hands away.
That was another thing that Victor absolutely loved- not only did he have a feeding kink, but he just loved how stuffed his Yuuri got after a big meal.
The Japanese man would be so cute as he squirmed around in his seat, trying to suck in his full swollen belly, stifling his burps from being so full.
If there was such a thing as heaven, this would be it for Victor.
In fact, maybe Victor didn’t have a feeding kink after all, but a ‘Feeding his cute Yuuri until he’s stuffed’ kink.
When Yuuri’s bowl of chili was finished, Victor managed to convince the other to eat one more serving (and he even managed to distract the Japanese skater as he snuck a third helping in as well).
Chewing on his food, Yuuri scooted to the end of his chair, trying to stretch out his now bulging belly that was so full from all the chili he had eaten. He missed the pair of blue eyes that was currently eyeing his tummy with hungry eyes.
Eventually, Yuuri ended up having to unbutton his pants, letting out a loud groan in relief (while Victor also groaned softly but in arousal).
Rubbing his bloated belly, Yuuri suddenly felt a burp coming on and before he could stop it, the gas ended up forcing it’s way up his throat and right out of his mouth.
BUUUUUURRRRPPPP!
“Oh!” Yuuri blushed, covering his mouth with one hand. With his other hand still on his rounded belly, Yuuri embarrassedly apologized, “Excuse me. I’m sorry.”
Victor shook his head immediately. “Don’t be. If it’ll make you feel better, then feel free to let it all out.” The Russian insisted, smiling innocently.
Thankfully, Yuuri didn’t seem to realize what was going on and as Victor continued to feed him, he began to let out a few burps here and there, but he still apologized after each one.
When Yuuri was done with his third serving of chili, Victor was thinking about whether he should get his fiancé to eat just one more bowl before his thoughts was interrupted when a loud, wet fart suddenly sounded loudly inside the room.
BRRRRRAAAAAAAAPPPP!
“Oh god!” Yuuri was mortified as he hid his face in both his hands, not able to meet Victor’s own shocked look.
The Russian himself was also blushing, but he was weirdly okay with it. He wasn’t aroused by the fart- thank god- but it’s not like it made him feel disgusted of Yuuri or some nonsense like that.
The fart itself was deep and ear-shattering loud, but there wasn’t much of a smell to it- in fact, the smell was very faint that after a few seconds, it seemed to just disappear.
Victor stared at Yuuri and noted how red that other’s cheeks looked, how his tummy was sticking out nicely from his unbuttoned pants and lifted shirt, just begging to be rubbed. And all Victor could think right now was, 'O, Боже, YES.’
Putting the empty bowl down on the table, Victor made sure his smile came off as naturally gentle and not creepily aroused as he engulfed the other in his embrace. “Don’t be embarrassed, Любимая. It’s perfectly natural and you have nothing to be ashamed of.” He told him kindly.
“Victor…” Yuuri was still blushing, jumping slightly when the Russian placed his palm on his full belly.
“Now, since you were a good boy for eating all of my cooking, let me reward you with a good belly rub. I bet that will help, hm?” He gave then proceeded to give his bloated belly some deep but slow rubs with both his hands.
Yuuri was about to refuse, but when Victor pressed down on a certain area of his belly, it made the Japanese skater give out another fart in response.
“See? You’re feeling better already, right?” Victor grinned, continuing his rubs.
Yuuri didn’t look at him, but he couldn’t deny the relief he felt as his fiancé continued to massage his belly. Eventually, Yuuri’s mortification slowly ebbed away and he didn’t bother to argue back anymore about stopping.
Leaving their dirty dishes in the sink to deal with in the morning, the couple retired for the night into their bedroom.
And there they stayed, cuddled together on their bed as Victor continued to rub his adorable fiancé’s belly while Yuuri gave off more farts and even burps with every press and gentle rub.

Day 7: You Gained a Family Too
Written by: @porkcutletbowltrash
For: #yoiweddingweek Day 7 - Family
Summary: “Watashi o mama to yonde, hanī. Anata no kazoku.” Viktor’s eyes lit up softly as he looked at the small woman who sat across from him. He felt Yuuri squeeze his hand softly as he smiled at Viktor. “Mama arigatō,” Viktor smiled and leaned his head against Yuuri’s shoulder, “Subarashī kazoku no tame ni.”
If he hadn’t opened his big mouth, this wouldn’t have happened, Yuuri supposed as he watched Viktor’s solemn form in the seat next to him. Seeing his husband in anything less than a cheerful mood was unsettling to say the least. Smiling, it seemed, was one of the forces that supported Viktor’s life, since he had never seen Viktor without one in the years they had been together. Even during their occasional squabbles, Viktor’s lips had always been twitched up on the ends as he would glare at his husband with a grimace on his face.
But now, seeing Viktor looking so...hollow, it was starting to scare Yuuri. It had shaken Yuuri up enough to pull Viktor out of Russia for a while, bringing him back home to Hastesu, where hopefully a dip in the hot springs and some time away from the hustle and bussell of the Russian city would allow Viktor to come back to himself. He had already called home, asking his parents if they could come visit and his mother had welcomed them with open arms. “Of course, Yuuri. Come whenever you would like, sweetie.” His mother had said in fluid Japanese over the phone. “Thanks mom. Viktor seems,” he had remembered looking over his shoulder at his shell of a husband sitting on the couch and looking blankly at the TV, “stressed at the moment...” His mother had clucked at him over the phone with worry and promised that she would prepare Yuuri’s old bedroom for them and that she would start cooking right away. “Mom, we won’t be there for a few days.” He had murmured over the phone. “My boy needs food. It’ll make him feel better.” She had said with anxiety over the phone, “And you’ll be hungry too after your flight and then your commute on the train.” Yuuri had simply sighed and rolled his eyes at the time, but now looking at Viktor’s weary eyes and limp hands that were folded in his lap as he stared out the window, he was starting to think that maybe some emotional eating would, for once, do Viktor some good.
He reached over and grabbed one of Viktor’s hands in his own and brought it over to sit in his lap, tracing soft shapes on the familiar warm skin. He wasn’t sure if it was an action to offer some comfort Viktor or to himself, but Yuuri knew that at least one of them needed that simple physical contact as they sat in tense silence next to each other on the train.
Yuuri felt the familiar guilt crawling up his throat that he had felt for the past two weeks on and off. If he hadn’t said anything, then they wouldn’t have traveled to a small town in the Russian country side. This mess had all started from those six simple words that he had uttered one night as they lay wrapped in each other’s arms, “I want to meet your family.” Viktor had been surprised and more than a little hesitant about the idea, but after quite a bit of convincing on Yuuri’s part and a small squabble, Viktor had made arrangements for them to visit Yuuri’s new in-laws.
Vyatskoe, had been an amazing experience in the beginning with its rolling hills and surplus of trees, but then Viktor had pulled up in front of the regal manor with its soft twinkle lights and the large oak door that had been fitted with an almost scary looking door knocker.
That’s the moment that it had all started going downhill. That’s the moment Yuuri had realized he had really fucked up.
He gave a gentle squeeze to Viktor’s hand as the train started coming to a stop at the Hatsetsu station, a little relieved when he felt the slightest of twitches from Viktor’s hand in response.
Yuuri couldn’t stop apologizing for the hell that had ensued those few days while staying with Viktor’s Aunt & Uncle and his two step-siblings. He knew Viktor hadn’t been upset with him. Viktor had kept murmuring that to him as they had climbed into the car and Viktor had pulled away from the large manor that was nothing like the small little huts and homes that adorned the rest of the countryside. That had been before Viktor had become distant and lethargically present. “Come on, Vitya. We’re here.” He squeezed Viktor’s hand in his own once more and pulled Viktor from his seat as he pulled his backpack onto his shoulder. Yuuri hadn’t bothered packing extensively, he knew they both had things at his parent’s hot spring and he was more worried about getting them out of the city than packing more than what was needed. “Hatsetsu?” Viktor mumbled softly as he was dragged along beside Yuuri. Yuuri hummed and nodded, “Hatsetsu. Dad is gonna be picking us up.” Viktor just gave a soft nod and went back to staring off into space.
The car ride out to his childhood home had been filled with tense and worried silence. Yuuri had taken to the back seat to sit with his husband, while Yuuri’s father sat behind the wheel, glancing nervously in the review mirror at them every few minutes. Yuuri tried to send him a soft smile to let him know that everything was going to be alright, but his smile faltered as his eyes met the reflection of his father’s. “Vu~ikutoru, daijōbudesuka?” Yuuri was watching Viktor’s reaction as his father tried talking to Viktor. “Hai.” Viktor murmured softly, his face still utterly blank.
Normally, as soon as Viktor saw either Hiroko or Toshiya Katsuki, he wouldn’t stop talking, even though they didn’t speak much English and he only spoke some Japanese. They were content listening to each other speak like they bonded over the sounds they all made. And now that Viktor had gone quiet, it had made Yuuri miss Viktor even more.
Things weren’t much better once they got to the house. The rest of the car ride home, Toshiya had tried to make conversation with Viktor, but he mostly gave short responses in Japanese. By the time they had pulled up, the only thing that had changed was that Viktor and Yuuri had a clingy mother hen now attached to them. As promised, his mother had a large spread of food already on the table and was pushing Viktor down to sit at the chabudai. “Thank you for this meal.” Yuuri had said quietly as he sat next to his husband and started scooping food onto his plate, “Look, Vitya. She made pork cutlet bowls.” Viktor looked down at the food and nodded softly before picking up the chop stick and slowly eating.
Yuuri made contact with his parent’s eyes and they all shared a worried look. This wasn’t typical Viktor Nikiforov behavior. “Vitya, how about we go for a bath in the hot spring after dinner?” Yuuri suggested lightly. “Okay.” Viktor still didn’t meet anyone’s eyes.
Yuuri wished he could’ve said that things had improved over the next few days at his parents’ home, but they didn’t. Viktor was still incredibly out of it; waking early in the morning and quietly wandering around the house. He would go for a dip in the hot spring with Yuuri at night before bed, sitting in tense silence as Yuuri leaned against him, trying to comfort his emotionally distressed lover. By the time bedtime came around, Viktor was curl up in a ball on his side of the bed and let Yuuri be the big spoon as they cuddled.
It wasn’t until Yuuri left to run to the store for some groceries for dinner with Toshiya and Viktor was left alone with Hiroki and, Yuuri’s older sister, Mari. It was a slow day for the hot spring and it gave them all time to sit around and watch the Junior preliminary free program on TV. “I haven’t accomplished anything.” Viktor’s voice was soft, but it was the first time in weeks that he had said anything more than short responses. Hiroki and Mari turned to look at him. They didn’t speak much English, Mari speaking more than Hiroki, but they both caught the main sentiment of what Viktor was saying. Mari put an arm around Viktor’s sagging shoulders, “Vu~ikutoru, Nani ga fakku? What you saying?” Viktor looked down at his hands. “Watashinokazoku. They aren’t very proud of me.” Viktor said as tears came to his eyes. Those words had haunted him for weeks and the glances he caught from Yuuri out of the corner of his eye didn’t help matters. Maybe following his dream of skating professionally had been a mistake like his Aunt Esenia and Uncle Dmitri had told him. What if he was letting not only himself and his country down, but what if he was letting Yuuri down and was hindering Yuuri’s beauty on the ice by coaching him. If he hadn’t gone off to Saint Petersburg, he could’ve gone to a university. He could’ve gotten his degree and became a worthy piece of the Nikiforov legacy as a doctor or a lawyer or a politician.
He could’ve achieved greatness, like Flora and Iosif.
At the age of 20, Flora was already one of the best stock brokers and financial advisors in Moscow, not to mention that she was had regal beauty. Iosif was 23 and already had a government job as the head advisor under the President of Education Services. They were perfect students and the most elegant aristocratic members of society.
Viktor had fallen short. He was just some stupid athlete in a “feminine field”.
Maybe if he hadn’t been a skater, he could’ve won Yuuri’s heart and been able to give him everything his heart had ever desired in privacy. They wouldn’t be “THE” couple of the figure skating world. They could have married and had children without the imposing media or extensive traveling playing apart in what they could and couldn’t do.
Viktor was broken out of his thoughts as a pair of two warm arms pulled him into a bone crushing hug. Hiroki Katsuki had him tight against her as she cupped his head softly to her shoulder. Viktor stilled softly, not use to these types of hugs. Yuuri’s hugs were gentle and sweet, letting you know he was there if you needed him. Yakov’s were rough and tight as he would slap Viktor on the back after a particularly good performance. Before his mother had passed away, her hugs had mostly been quick and barely there. His father had never hugged him. “We very proud.” Hiroki’s English was broken and hard to understand with her thick Japanese accent, but the Viktor had felt his stomach clench with the words. “But—“, He began. “Damare.” Mari put a hand on Viktor’s head softly in reassurance, “You family, Vu~ikutoru. We very proud.” “Dōshite?” He asked softly as he tried to fight the burning behind his eyes. “Watashitachi, wa anata o aishiteirukara.” Hiroki carded a hand through the thin silver locks, “You like son.”
“Dad, I dunno what to do at this point,” Yuuri said as he placed some leaks into the shopping basket. “Why’s he so upset, Yuuri?” His father looked at him softly as he placed a hand on his shoulder, “It must’ve been something really upsetting. This isn’t like him at all. I’m worried for him, my son.” Yuuri hummed in agreement as he bowed his head, “It’s my fault.” “Huh?” “We went to visit Viktor’s family at their Winter home in Vyastkoye, a couple of weeks ago. They weren’t very...” Yuuri struggled to find the right word, “Supportive.” “I see.” Toshiya mumbled as he picked up a pack of rice noodles, “How is that your fault though, Yuuri?” Yuuri chewed on his lip, “I asked him to go. I wanted to meet his family since now we’re related and they didn’t come to the wedding. I pushed Viktor into it, even though he didn’t want to go.” Yuuri hugged himself around the waist. He had really messed Viktor up and now he couldn’t fix it. Toshiya put a hand on Yuuri’s head, “He’s not upset with you, my son.” “He won’t speak to me, very much,” Yuuri said as his eyes drifted to the floor. “He’s not angry, Yuuri. I promise. He’s worried.” “How can you tell? Viktor hardly ever worries and when he does, he’s never like this. I’ve broken him.” Guilt was flowing through Yuuri like blood. Two calloused fingers lifted Yuuri’s chin up to meet his father’s dark chocolate eyes, “It’s in his eyes. It’s the same way your mother looks at you when you perform on the ice or when you go back to Russia.” Yuuri felt a surge of something in him, “She worries about me during those times? I’ve performed in the GP plenty of times and Viktor is always with me in Russia.” Toshiya smiled softly, “That’s the thing about loving someone, my son. You never stop worrying about them.”
When Yuuri and his father came home from the market, Yuuri was expecting to find Viktor in his usual place on the floor at the chabudai, staring blankly into the distance. The sight that met him was almost shocking with how use to Yuuri had become to the distant Viktor in the past weeks. As they walked in the door, they were met with the sight of Hiroki holding the sobbing mess that Viktor had turned into, while Mari stood over them, watching them, ready to grab anything that their mother needed. “Sore wa daijōbu watashi no musukodesu.” His mother was murmuring over and over again to Viktor who was vibrating with distressed energy, “Yūri wa sugu ni kitaku shimasu. Kare wa anata ni okotte imasen.” “I’m here, Vitya. He said as he dropped the bags of groceries on a nearby table and came to stoop next to Viktor. Viktor’s red rimmed eyes turned to look at Yuuri and it was one of the saddest things Yuuri had ever seen. His beautiful Viktor was distraught beyond consoling, with his eyes rimmed red and a snotty nose. He had never seen Viktor cry like this before and he hoped that he wouldn’t ever see his Vitya brought to this level again.
Viktor sniffed heavily and lunged from Hiroki’s arms and clung to his husband, who had sat still in his arms with shock. “Yura. Yuuri, I am so sorry.” Viktor had cried as he hugged the boy to his chest with a ferocity Yuuri hadn’t seen before – it was like Viktor was trying to push Yuuri’s body into his so they could be one. Yuuri hugged back equally as tight as he closed his eyes, “Why’re you so upset, Vitya? Are you okay?” Viktor placed a trail of kisses along Yuuri’s forehead, something he had realized he hadn’t done in a very long time, “I’m sorry.” “It’s alright, Vitya.” Yuuri cooed as he held him close. He watched as his father pulled his mother away softly, wanting to give the couple some privacy. Mari had drifted off somewhere already. Viktor hiccupped, “I’ve been such a bad husband.” Yuuri pulled his lover away and leaned his forehead against Viktor’s, “Don’t you say that, Viktor Nikiforov.” Yuuri watched as Viktor took in a raspy breath as tears continued to pour down his face, “Where’d this all come from anyway?” “I’ve been such a Mudak. Ty zasluzhivayesh' luchshego.” Yuuri couldn’t understand much of what Viktor said, but cupped his cheek anyways, “If anyone hasn’t been a good spouse, it’s me.”
Viktor hiccupped and met Yuuri’s eyes in shock. Yuuri, beautiful, perfect Yuuri a bad husband? There wasn’t such a thing. Yuuri had put up with his moody behavior for the past two weeks without complaint. He had even brought him to Hatsetsu in an attempt to get him to cheer up. “What?” He mumbled softly. “I forced you to go. I forced you to take me. I had no idea that they were...” Yuuri trailed off as he wiped a stream of tears off of Viktor’s cheek. Viktor took in a breath and Yuuri could tell he was starting to calm down. He hugged his husband close as they sat on the floor together. “It’s not your fault, my Yura.” Viktor leaned his head against Yuuri’s softly, “You didn’t know. They were right though, I should’ve done something with my life to make you proud.” Yuuri sighed, “So that’s what this is about.” Yuuri combed a hand through the soft silvery hair on his lover’s head, “You have made me so proud though, Viktor.” “How?” Yuuri smiled, “By being yourself. You followed your dreams and you work hard to reach your new dreams. You have grown into an amazing man, Vitya. You love me even when I’m not the most loveable. What isn’t there to be proud of?” Viktor sniffled, “I can’t give you everything you deserve though, Yura.” “I already have everything I could ever want, Viktor. I have you.”
After getting Viktor calmed down and letting him relax in a hot bath in the hot spring, everything was feeling a lot calmer. Viktor was in a way better mood and was a lot more talkative than he had been in the past few weeks. He still wasn’t up to his usual bubbly Viktor-like self, but it was an improvement and Yuuri’s worry was slowly ebbing away.
He was getting his Viktor back and everything was going to be okay.
They ate together as a family for dinner that night, Viktor making easy conversation with everyone around the table, while they feasted on seared mackerel and rice noodles. “This is very good Hiroki.” He said softly in his best Japanese as he bowed softly to her. “Watashi o mama to yonde, hanī.
I gave you all fluff the entire week and now I hit you with angst.
Your welcome.

Ok ya know that blessed image of Yurio serving pirozhki to Lillia and Yakov??
Tumblr media
What if that's not the only thing he knows how to make?? What if the time he's not busy skating (or being super emo) is spent in the kitchen ?
Imagine Victor calling him with an SOS saying "Yurio I've had nothing but katsudon for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for weeks. Now don't get me wrong I love it and I love Yuuri but the next skating season is about to beg–"
"I'm on my way."
Yurio slams open their door to their apartment less than 10 minutes later to with a kit of knives and assorted cooking utensils shouting "STEP ASIDE PORK CUTLET BOWL"
He's been in the kitchen for over 2 hours now doing GOD KNOWS what, clattering around with the occasional swear
"Yurioooo we're hungry"  "You cannot rush perfection old man"  "I'm pretty sure my stomach has begun digesting itself"  "SHUT UP KATSUDON. I NEED ABSOLUTE AND COMPLETE FOCUS"
He then calls them to the table, which is covered with a silk runner, a beautifully decorated candelabra, and cloth napkins folded in the shapes of swans (Yurio brought all of this along)
"Alright folks tonight we have a nice al dente pasta, so that it has a bit of a firmness when you bite into it. Now that's covered with an exquisitely seasoned crushed tomato topping and orbs of pulverized beef. And for garnish we have some fresh picked basil. Enjoy"  "Yurio, darling.. I'm pretty sure this is just spaghetti and meatballs"
Yurio begins fuming, screaming absolute nonsense about "not knowing art" and "ungrateful washed up pricks" as he shoves his things back into his bag (plates of spaghetti and all). He storms out with both his middle fingers extended towards the couple before slamming the door behind him

After a long day of traveling and hunting, I am certain this Ace Hunter’s Schnitzel would be extremely satisfying.  The potatoes are slightly spicy and the lemon brightens up the fried pork.  Even if you aren’t hunting down bulette in the wilds of the Kettier Highland, I’m sure you’ll love this dish.  Check out the recipe below the cut if you would like to give it a try.
Ingredients (Spicy Potatoes):
1 lb red potatoes, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 c olive oil
1 Tbs salt
3/4 Tbs garlic powder
1/2 Tbs black pepper
1/4 Tbs smoked paprika
1/4 Tbs cayenne
Ingredients (Schnitzel):
1 lb of pork cutlets
2 eggs, beaten
1/3 c milk
2 c plain bread crumbs
1 Tbs black pepper
2 c vegetable oil
1/2 Tbs salt
1 lemon, sliced/wedged
Combine all of the ingredients for the spicy potatoes in a small baking dish and bake in the oven for 30 minutes on 425F.
Begin preparing the pork by putting a piece into a gallon sized ziplock bag and close it 3/4 of the way.  Use a meat mallet, or any heavy object, in a down and out motion to flatten the meat.  I used a small cast iron skillet.  In a large bowl beat together the eggs and milk.  Place the flattened meat in the egg mixture and allow to sit while you combine the breadcrumbs and pepper in a shallow dish.  Bread the pork piece by piece.  Allow the egg mixture to drip off before liberally coating in the breadcrumbs.  Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.  Fry each piece one at a time, cooking them for 3 minutes on each side.  Place the fried pieces on a plate covered with paper towels and use them to soak off any extra oil before sprinkling with salt.  Serve with sliced lemon and enjoy!
Keep an eye out for one of Noct’s favorites on Friday! :)

Chicken cutlets with spicy coconut dressing
Don't shake the can of coconut milk before opening it—you'll use the layer of cream on top in this sweet and spicy dressing, which is mellowed by the cooling iceberg lettuce and rich dark-meat chicken. Transfer the unused coconut milk to a clean jar and refrigerate it for making soup or a curry (it will hold for several days).
2 servings
1/2 red jalapetio, Fresno, or serrano chile, finely grated
1 garlic clove, finely grated
1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated
4 tablespoons coconut cream from 1 small can unsweetened full-fat coconut milk
1/4 cup fresh lime juice, plus wedges for serving
Kosher salt
2 tablespoons unsweetened shredded coconut
4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs, patted dry
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 head iceberg lettuce, leaves torn into palm-size pieces
Handful of cilantro leaves and tender stems, torn 1. In a large bowl, combine chile, garlic, ginger, coconut cream, and lime juice. Season with salt and stir to combine. Stir in coconut and taste dressing: It should be fairly tangy, spicy, and salty to balance the mild iceberg. Dressing may seize and seem very thick, but it will loosen up when tossed with the salad.
2. Working with one thigh at a time, place chicken between two sheets of plastic wrap and use a meat mallet or rolling pin to pound out to 1/2-inch thickness. This will shorten cooking time and creates more surface area for crisping. Season cutlets on both sides with salt.
3. Place a 10- or 12-inch skillet, preferably cast-iron, over medium-high heat. Add oil and when it shimmers, place cutlets carefully into pan and cook, undisturbed, until well browned on underside and almost completely cooked through, about 5 minutes. Turn chicken and cook for about 1 minute on second side. Transfer cutlets to a platter or two dinner plates. Add iceberg and cilantro to bowl with dressing and toss to coat. Taste the lettuce and add more salt and/or lime juice if needed. Serve cutlets and salad with lime wedges for squeezing over.
Note: Substitute thin, boneless pork chops for the chicken.  Use 6 to 8 cups savoy cabbage leaves, romaine hearts or 2 sliced English hothouse cucumbers instead of iceberg. In place of garlic, use a thinly sliced shallot or a thinly sliced 8-inch piece of daikon. Substitute unseasoned rice vinegar for lime juice.  Use Mint and/or basil instead of cilantro.

Head Over Heels from the Scarf I Lent Her  Chapter 16 — Sitting Together after Shopping
what would you like to read next? suggest titles for me to translate!
“What a great shot, yes, it is! I got a snap of the cutest girl in town!”
“Don’t even think about selling it.” “Oh, fine.”
What did she mean by “fine”? Was she actually planning on selling it? Women are frightening creatures. Anyway, the four of them have sat down at a family restaurant chain famous for their low prices. Of course, it’s not going to be anywhere nearly as good as a proper restaurant, but they can at least be a little rowdier at a place like this. With so many conversations going on at once, it isn’t quiet at all.
The four of them sat down at a table; Satsuki and Akane sat together, across from Tooru and Jun. After waiting for quite a while, they finally managed to sit down and go through the menus. The three of them almost have the menus memorized, but it’s all new to Satsuki. She has read through it numerous times, seemingly as if she enjoys learning about all the different dishes.
Even right now, Akane is stealthily taking photos, causing Satsuki to blush red. It’s definitely an ongoing activity too. Tooru and Jun have long decided on what to order and are simply waiting on the two girls. Tooru’s mother could never make up her mind until the last minute either back when she would take him out for food. Reminiscing those warm, fuzzy memories, he calls out to the girls.
“I’m already good to go. Make up your mind.” “That’s right. I’m hungry! So hungry!”
Jun, with a fork and knife in his hands, begins to pump his fists. What are you, some kind of child? is what Tooru was thinking, but he spared Jun from his thoughts.
“Ōyodo, you know you look like a total child, right?”
Tooru could almost hear the knife ripping through Jun’s heart. Akane seems to only rib on Jun for some reason.
“Just like how we girls take time to pick out clothes, we take time picking food too. Isn’t that right, Satsuki!” “Hmm? Umm, right.”
Flustered by suddenly being dragged into the conversation, Satsuki half-hearted agrees to the question. Akane’s eyes gleamed as she grabs her phone again to capture the moment.
“Cuties like you are picture-perfect no matter the facial expression. So blessed!” “Umm, thank you?”
How should she even react to that? Akane moves around to capture Satsuki at different angles, but perhaps she just remembered what Tooru said, she puts down her phone and looks down at the menu. She quickly decides after a skim through.
“I’ll get the wonton noodle soup.” “How ‘bout you, Satsuki?” “The Korean stew, please.” “We’re all set then.”
Tooru press the button on the table to call the waitstaff over and leans back in his chair. Since they only shopped for Satsuki, the haul today wasn’t too big. But having to carry it all morning was certainly tiring. A shirt or a dress doesn’t weigh much, but it adds up quickly. The bag was underneath the table, dividing Tooru and Jun.
Now waiting for the food to arrive, Tooru idly checks his phone. It’s a few minutes past 1:00 PM. They arrived before 12:00 noon, so that means they had to wait for an hour to get seated. It’s the weekends, so it’s to be expected.
Maybe Akane has taken a liking to her, but she keeps badgering Satsuki with questions. It makes Satsuki uncomfortable, but she’s not avoiding her questions either. Jun fixed his gaze towards Akane, spacing out. He’s probably thinking about something, but Tooru isn’t insensitive enough to outright ask him.
“So, Tooru is a good friend of yours, hmm? Hoho, and you two have just met a month ago? Lucky you, Tooru.”
Catching the tail end of their conversation, Tooru looks over at Akane. He answers her with his elbows are on the table and arms holding up his chin.
“I’ve really gotta thank all three of you for treating me normally, even at school.” “As I’ve said, where there’s a scandal, there’s me. I know there’s more to this thing. My Akane-sense is tingling.” “You’re like some kind of anime character anime, aren’tcha?” “How rude, Jun. I’m a real human being. See? I’ve even got feet.”
As she says that, Jun yelps out in pain. Under the table was Akane’s foot and Jun’s shin. That must’ve hurt bad. Conversely, Satsuki is just blankly sitting there as if unaware of the battle going on underneath the table. Even if she knew of it, it probably wouldn’t be very funny to her either, so Tooru changes the topic.
“I didn’t know you like spicy food, Satsuki.” “Oh, I don’t have that in my notes either. So, what’s the official position?”
Seeing Akane whipping out her notepad rattled Satsuki some more and she puts her hands together.
“Yes, I do. I enjoy kimchi and chili peppers. I like to sprinkle a bit of ground cayenne on my udon to make it just a bit spicy too. “ “I see, I see. Do you like it so spicy that it burns?” “Not that extreme, but I do like spicy foods. Though I like my sweets as well.”
Oh, is that right? thought Tooru, making a mental note of it. She looked so happy eating that pudding cup last time, so he thought she only liked sweets. Satsuki hasn’t put anything spicy in their lunches either. Before their conversation finished, their waitress came by with two of the four items.
“Here you are. A wonton noodle soup and a Korean stew.”
The waitress places the stew in front of Satsuki and then the noodle soup in front of Akane. Then, she places the receipt and its holder on the table, excused herself, and quickly dashed back to the kitchen. The two girls are practically drooling over their food. Though the boys’ orders haven’t arrived yet, Tooru wouldn’t mind if the girls started first.
“Go right ahead. Dig in before it gets cold.” “Aww, no fair! My food isn’t here yet!” “What are you, a kid?” “Et tu, Tooru? I’m a big boy!”
Tooru ignores the crybaby and looks over to the girls, encouraging them to eat. Satsuki and Akane share a look with each other, giggle, and start on their meals. There is a noticeable difference in Satsuki’s reaction today compared with last time at the Italian joint.
“It’s alright.” “Yes, it’s alright.” “Well, it’s a diner chain after all.”
While patting the pouting Jun on his back, Tooru lets out a hearty chuckle. The rest of their orders soon arrive: a steak set of Tooru and a pork cutlet bowl for Jun.
“Anything else I can get for you?” “That’s it. Thanks a lot.” “Alrighty then, enjoy your meal.”
After the waitress blitzed away, the four of them resumed eating. This really does taste just alright. It’s nowhere near comparable to Satsuki’s cooking. It wasn’t long ago that he felt eating out at a diner was a treat, but now he’s used to the good life. The perpetrator sits across from him, enjoying her Korean stew; one hand holding her hair aside, the other spooning bites of food. Tooru stares at Satsuki, thinking how refined her behavior is.
“Umm… is something the matter?”
Satsuki asks Tooru as he sets his cutlery down to protest with both hands.
“O-Oh, no, not at all. You seem like you’re really enjoying it is all.” “Now, now, Tooru, you can say that you’ve been enchanted by her.” “Enchanted? … well, that’s not not the case.”
If he said no outright, surely, that would hurt her feelings. Then, Akane flashes a grin and leans over to hold Satsuki again.
“Hehe, lucky me! I get Satsuki all to myself. I bet you’re jealous, aren’t ya?” “No, I’m not! You know you can snap back at her, right, Satsuki?” “Well, I’m jealous!”
Ignoring whatever Jun shouted, Tooru looks over to Satsuki. She’s a little anxious, but her smile is still bright.
“It’s my second time to be taken out, so I’m happy, though a little flustered.” “Wait, you mean there was a first time?!” “Right, we didn’t tell you about that first time they went to the movies together.” “Two people viewing a romance film?! Isn’t that something known as a date?!”
Akane brings out her notepad and scribbles something down while Tooru scrambles to answer her.
“N-No, it’s not a date! We just went to see a movie! Nothing more!” “R-Right. That was not a date… I think.”
Satsuki follows up on Akane’s attack with a blush, forcing Tooru to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire. Now, Jun comes kicking while Tooru is down.
“That’s a date to the rest of us. I’d be asking her out already, if I were you.” “A-Asking her out?! Friends don’t do that! That’s what we are.”
Ask her out. That’s the same as a confession, isn’t it? Those words made Tooru’s heart race. It’s been three weeks since they’ve met, but he stills sees Satsuki as just a friend. Though, she has already told him that she really likes him, albeit in a seemingly casual way instead of anything weird. Still, every time he hears her say that really gets to him. But the two of them don’t know that Satsuki has said that she really likes Tooru. They probably have good intentions, but that’s exactly what the road to hell is paved with.
“Right? You think of me as a friend, right?”
He meant to indirectly, casually ask her, but somehow that slipped out. For a moment, Satsuki looked very troubled, but she hid her embarrassment by looking downwards. Tooru was worried that he inadvertently hurt her, but she seemed fine. Satsuki looked back up and at the three of them.
“Right. Tooru is my friend.”
Satsuki flatly responding like that was probably the worst thing that happened to Jun and Akane. Tooru, though, oddly laughs out loud.
