is there an ethical alternative to Google maps?

There are a few options available now, OpenStreetMap is probably the standout one. It is open source, collaborative and community maintained. No trackers, no ads, and often provided heads up about things they Google won’t; such as speed cameras/traps. I use it all the time and find it far more accurate and intuitive than Google maps ever was.

anyway i mapped like 200 buildings in herat, afghanistan today to help with earthquake relief... it didn't feel like i was helping, but more accurate maps will probably make it actually easier for ppl working on the ground, so maybe it was beneficial
