Star Trek: Lower Decks stars Jack Quaid (Brad Boimler) and Tawny Newsome (Beckett Mariner) as well as episode director Jonathan Frakes talk with @wilwheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation) about bringing their animated characters to life in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2, Episode 7, "Those Old Scientists." Plus, go behind the scenes and learn how this historic episode was made, revisit other classic Trek crossovers and much more.
I noticed from watching The Ready Room this week that Gates McFadden calls Jonathan Frakes “Johnny” while Sir Patrick Stewart and, I think, Will Wheaton call him “Jonathan” and they were all three just using their version of what they call him in one big conversation without even seemingly noticing the difference and it just seemed so cute and unique and fun.
I think Marina Sirtis calls him both from what I remember of interviews. ( She wasn’t in this one) and it makes me wonder why and how people in that group choose what to call him lol.
I think the theme is more loungewear than straight-up pajamas, but hey, I'm not complaining! (and -- look, we still have the groovies, I'm not giving up hope for animal kigurumi until I gotta)
Watching The Ready Room and Gates, Patrick, and Wil are talking about how nice it is to be together again and they don't get the chance to do that often enough. In fact, sometimes Patrick Stewart will watch an old episode just so he can see everyone again. And Wil said he does that too, he's glad it's not weird. And Patrick immediately goes "No, it is weird."
In the episode, Ortegas recognizes the symbols from a set someone wanted to trade. The Ready Room trivia card says she received it as a gift. Which came first? What changed?
Also, I find it most impressive that she recognizes the symbols from something she saw once, years ago, that she wasn't even interested in.
Celia Rose Gooding (Nyota Uhura) and Carol Kane (Pelia) join @wilwheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation) for a pair of interviews that celebrate the ups and downs of life. Plus, get an inside look at the relationship of the Kirk brothers, go on a trip exploring Star Trek's wildest visions, dreams, and hallucinations, and much more!
