Okay. *cracks knuckles* Let's do this.

We’re going in reverse chronological order. Non-chenfordy episodes (like 515) don’t count.

SEASON 5 - Top 3

1 - 501 - Double Down And, tbh, this is probably my favourite episode OF. ALL. TIME. The disguises. The private jet. Las Vegas. “Do you wanna come in?” THE SHEER RIDICULOSITY. 5/5, no cap.

2 - 518 - Double Trouble If there’s a ‘double’ in the title, there’s a silverskull in the audience. Again. RIDICULOUS. Brilliant. Colourful. Silly. Insightful. I’m of the opinion that the True Crime episodes exist outside of reality, but that doesn’t mean that what they said doesn’t still stand. Lucy has nightmares that Tim will get killed. Tim bottles shit up. Sava is a spicy cinnamon roll. Jake should not have died.

3 - 512 Grrarararrra, how to pick between this and 508 and 510? BUT. I think this episode tops them because we get to see both Couple!Chenford and Work!Chenford, and both are beautiful and brilliant in their own rights. There is nothing to match the perfection of the colouring in 508, but the warmth of the ending of 512 is a close contender. I just. love. basking in it.

SEASON 5 - Bottom 3

1 - 503 I think Eric and Melissa did a lot with the little they had, but I would love to have seen more of the characters’ terror at Lucy being missing. Missing and trapped in a small, locked, space. Missed opportunity.

2 - 514 I don’t dislike this episode, but since Tim is spending all this time at Lucy’s apartment - to the point that Tamara is signing herself an exit ticket - I would love to have seen him interact with the two women a bit more. Or at least pick up on the tension between them.

This is the show’s biggest flaw, IMHO. We would kill just to see these characters sitting around and talking to each other, but they’re always so damn busy. I love 513, but they could have done the entire episode in Nolan’s living room and I wouldn’t have complained. That’s how much I love them. How much we love them.

3 - 511 I’m clutching at straws here, because I adore season 5. BUT! I would have loved Genny to stick her nose into Tim’s business a bit more. I know the episode dealt with serious DV issues in Lucy’s storyline, but since she was there anyway, I think Genny should have done more wondering aloud as to why Lucy was always by Tim’s side. Cough cough. I don’t ship my siblings with their partners, but you can bet your ass I’d be snidely commenting if their “work partner” turned up to randomly coach my son’s baseball team!?!

It turns out, exactly as I suspected, this question is gonna take A LOT of time, so I'm gonna make it a series, thank u, @queseraone.

Timeline - Iruka Umino

(I’ve just compiled information from various pre-existing timelines, so credits go to the Seelentau timeline and @keepyourpantsongohan​’s one!!)

I added events I thought relevant to Iruka’s story (whether because it impacted Konoha or Iruka personally). I calculated the ages by taking the Databook ages and correlating them with the first appearances in the manga which is why it sometimes differs from the other timelines (ex: Yugao is said to be 22 in the first Databook, but her birthday is on November 3rd, and her first apparition is during the Chūnin exams in July-August. Therefore, I consider her to have turned 22 the year before). 

I’ve checked this timeline a few times, but there may still be errors (or simplifications), so don’t hesitate to point them out and I’ll correct them!

Year 0 : Iruka is born (May 26).

Kohari and Ikkaku Umino are 34-35.

The Third Shinobi War begins. Around this year, Kushina (13-14) is kidnapped by shinobi from Kumo and rescued by Minato (13-14).

September 15 : Kakashi turns 5.

Kakashi becomes Genin.

Year 1 : 

May 26 : Iruka turns 1.

September 15 : Kakashi turns 6.

Kakashi becomes Chūnin.

Year 2 : 

May 26 : Iruka turns 2.

Sakumo Hatake (around 40) commits suicide.

Kakashi’s generation becomes Genin : Genma (10), Guy (7), Ebisu (10), Shizune (10), Asuma (9), Kurenai (9).

Year 5-6 :

Iruka Umino enters the Academy.

Sasuke enters the Academy at 5 and Itachi at 6. Given that war wages during Iruka’s childhood, I chose to make him enter around this age instead of later, but we have no way to confirm this.

Year 8 :

October 24 : Anko turns 10.

Anko becomes Genin.

Year 9 :

 The Third Shinobi World War ends on an armistice between Konoha and Iwa, Minato becomes Hokage.

Minato is 23, Kohari and Ikkaku are 43-44.

Year 9-10 : Births of the Rookie Nine. 

Year 10 : 

May 26 : Iruka turns 10.

October 10 : Naruto’s birth ; Kurama is freed by Obito and attacks Konoha ; death of Kohari (45) and Ikkaku (45), as well as Minato (24), Kushina (24), Biwako (55) and many others. 

Iruka’s experience of this night is depicted several times in both manga and anime, which explains the slight contradictions. The last version of the event in the manga is probably the most accurate.

Chapter 1 : Iruka is forcefully taken away from the battlefield by an unknown shinobi as he screams that his parents “are still fighting”, although it’s unclear whether he knows this for a fact or is simply in denial.

Rookie Instructor fillers : Kohari wears the traditional Konoha uniform instead of the later grey ANBU-like one (it may be attributed to Iruka’s faulty memory of the event). Iruka is sheltered with other children away from the battlefield but is implied to have escaped when he learns that the squad where his parents were fighting has been decimated. This is the last flashback we have of the event and the anime seems to imply Iruka didn’t get to see his parents again.

Chapter 503 : Kohari wears a grey uniform. She’s already on the brink of death as Ikkaku orders Iruka to flee the battlefield. Similarly to Chapter 1, Iruka is then forcefully taken away despite his protests.

The anime later faithfully animated this scene and its chronology.

October 24 : Anko turns 12.

Anko becomes Chūnin.

The Academy having been destroyed in the Kurama attack, the learning conditions of this year’s students are unclear

Year 11 :

During this year : death of Might Duy (35) protecting Guy (15), Genma (17) and Ebisu (17).

Flashbacks of Iruka joking around to amuse his comrades.

May 26 : Iruka turns 11.

June 9 : Itachi turns 7.

Itachi becomes Genin.

Around this time, flashback with Hiruzen in front of the tombstone. Hiruzen says “It’s been a year” in the English version (indicating this is after the anniversary of the attack) but “It will be a year soon” in the French version (putting the scene before the anniversary). 

November 2nd : Hayate turns 12.

Hayate becomes a Genin (ID 011671)

Iruka becomes a Genin (ID 011850).

November 3rd : Yūgao turns 11.

Possibly in the same promotion [ Ninja ID indicates that they graduated after Iruka ] : Yoroi Akado (11), Iwashi (11), Izumo (12), Kotetsu (13) 

Possibly in the same promotion [ No ninja ID, but same age as Iruka ] : Santa Yamanaka, Maen Nara, Iroha Hyūga

Year 12 :

November 2nd : Hayate turns 13.

Hayate becomes Chūnin.

Year 14 :

February 29 : Kabuto turns 10.

Kabuto becomes Genin (ID 012140).

Yugao (13 or 14) becomes Genin (ID 012161).

June 9 : Itachi turns 10.

Itachi becomes Chūnin.

Year 16 : 

April : Sasuke (5) enters the Academy, Itachi (10) becomes ANBU.

May 26 : Iruka turns 16.

Iruka becomes Chūnin. 

July 23rd : Sasuke turns 6.

October 10 : Naruto turns 6.

Year 16-20 :  Iruka (16-20) becomes a teacher at the Academy (in this post, I tried to pinpoint at what age Iruka might have become a teacher).

Year 18 :

 Itachi (13) and Obito (22-23) massacre the Uchiha clan.

Sasuke is 7, Mikoto is 35, Fugaku is 40.

The event happens between the 9th of June (Itachi’s 13th birthday) and the 23rd of July (Sasuke’s 8th birthday).

Academy days : Iruka teaches Naruto, Shikamaru, Chōji and Kiba the leaf exercice ; flashback of the Academy fight between Naruto and Sasuke 

Year 22 :

May 26 : Iruka turns 22. 

Year 23 :

Naruto Part I begins. 

January 1st : Guy turns 26.

January : events of the first chapters. Naruto (12) discovers he is the host of Kyūbi during the incident with Mizuki (27).

May 26 : Iruka turns 23.

June 11th : Kurenai turns 27.

June 24 : Hiruzen announces the upcoming Chūnin exams. All 3 rookie jōnin-sensei enter their students despite Iruka’s protests. 

The Chūnin exams begin on the 1st of July and end on the 1st of August. Orochimaru attacks Konoha.

August 3rd : Funeral for the Third Hokage

Following the destruction of Konoha, every shinobi (including teachers) has to get back in the field and take missions again.

Unclear for how long: in the third Databook, Iruka has completed 3 additional D-rank, 5 C-rank and 16 B-rank missions before being back at the Academy.

End of the year : Naruto and Sasuke fight at the Valley of the End, Sasuke leaves Konoha to join Orochimaru, Naruto leaves with Jiraiya.

Year 25 : The Konoha 11 become Chūnin.

Year 26 :

Naruto (15) and Jiraiya come back to Konoha.

May 26 : Iruka turns 26.

Year 27 :

Pain attack on Konoha.

October 8 : The Third Shinobi War begins ; Iruka goes to Island Turtle to try and keep Naruto out of the war. 

Morning of October 10 : The War ends, everyone awakes from the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Naruto discovers he has to take classes for two years with Iruka’s help.

Year 28 : Kakashi (32) becomes Hokage ; Sasuke (18) leaves Konoha.

Year 29 : Events of Naruto: The Last.

Year 30 :

Some time before the wedding, Naruto asks Iruka to stand as his father at the wedding.

Naruto and Hinata’s wedding.

March 27 : Boruto is born.

Year 31-39 : At some point, Iruka (31-39) becomes Headmaster of the Academy. 

Year 32 : Himawari is born.

Year 35 : Naruto (24-25) becomes Hokage.

Year 39 :

End of the year : Chapter 700, epilogue. 

Iruka is 39.

Year 42 : Boruto’s generation (12) graduates.

At some point, Iruka takes care of Sarada while Sasuke and Sakura are on a mission ; he teaches her how to cook? I honestly have no idea when the novels happen and what’s going on in them and at this point I’m too afraid to ask.

hi there 👋 is the wilds a good show?

Hey there to you! I really enjoyed it, especially the first season, I still enjoyed the second season it just kinda veered off a bit. It can get darker in tone for some episodes. But I really enjoyed the growth of the characters and seeing how people react to being stuck on an island. It only has two seasons and it definitely ends like there should be a third but unfortunately there won't be. Feel free to ask if there's something more specific you wanted to know.

I’m finally caught up with my dash which I haven’t been in MONTHS or maybe its a year...I don’t know about anyone else my last two years were not chill and slow paced. With the exception of my anxiety which unfortunately does take up my time, I’m hoping to have more time to do more than just keep up with daily tasks. Maybe finally paint my room, write or start on some craft projects. I’m really  trying to work on myself, mentally and physically healing. Just trying to find a better version of my old self.

Day 171b: Monday June 20, 2022 - “Tigers at Fenway”

Miggy and El Mago brought their team to Boston for game 2 of our back-to-back Fenway visit - the night cap to our trip.  It was a hit parade on a beautiful evening. The last time I was here, Miggy hit a big game winner - one of his now 503 homers and it was a big memorable one for me, as I also put the baseball park tour onto the Bucket List Boneyard that day.  And now I am back here sharing this place with my Dad and my Son (my wife and mom are here too!) and this is one of those very few parks where its about the place as much as it is about the game and thats one of the more romantic things about this sport.  That romance for me started young when I collected baseball cards of old Tigers and old Red Sox like Frank Tanana and Dwight Evans, Doyle Alexander and Jim Rice, Lou Whittaker and Roger Clemens.  Both these teams were pretty good back in 1986 when my collection started, and now 36 years later looking back on the nostalgic foresight of my Dad to put me to sleep with the Tigers on the sleep timer of my clock radio, listening to Ernie Harwell and now it was a great pleasure to help bring him here with the hope that someday he can tell William with pride about we brought him here for his first two games to make sure it was historic and memorable.  And it was.  Someday, I’ll do what my Dad did - laying him down to sleep with baseball on the radio and help support his fascination with baseball cards and pass down this game to him.

Before the game we found ourselves down that 3rd base line hoping for a signature as the Tigers two big rookies Riley Greene (very recently called up) and Spencer Torkelson warmed up.  Soon several other players joined them to see the pregame festivities that included Manny Ramirez throwing out the first pitch to David Ortiz - it was obvious that Miguel Cabrera came out specifically to see that.  We did not get Wm’s baby shoe signed but we gave it good effort and saw a spectacular Star Spangled Banner before heading to our seats.  Dad and I enjoyed some really great seats in the old wooden section behind home plate but man it was cramped so after 4 innings there and seeing Miggy bat twice (unfortunately like Pujols the day before, Miggy would go 0fer today), we went to explore the stadium and connect with the fam sitting over on the 3rd base side.   Of course, we found that Wm, who loved the popcorn, had been a big hit with everyone else in his section.  He sure is hard not to love!   We even stopped in pre-game and said Hi to the usher that let him on the field the day before and he smiled big for her.   We strolled literally around the whole park together even making our way up to the Green Monster for peek.   We’d settle into some really nice seats up high behind homeplate where Dad and I’s knees could also enjoy the game and we’d stay there all the way through the top of the 9th, and the playing of that Dirty Water song as Wally waived the flag for another Red Sox win.   It was another great evening at the Ballpark.

If William grows up a Red Sox fan, it will be in his subconscious how great a baseball Father’s Day he had for his first two major league games. Trains, games, and Sweet Caroline. Friendly ushers, friendly mascots and Tessie on the radio. Nursing and Naps in the fifth inning and seeing the sweet game under a sunsetty orange and pink sky and over a place called Green Monster. For Love of The Game (and that Dirty Water) with family, loving a great story, talking fantasy baseball stats, cheering for a pitcher or a hitter or a rookie who just got the call up, or the old Hall of Famers counting down their last games, and going to see the statues of the greats that came before - it’s all that in the lyrics of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” and if he ends up a Red Sox fan, that will be fine by me as long as he loves it as much as I love bringing him to it.

QB guide - The “Now” Generation

NOTE: I will only list QBs who played during the 2020 season.

Patrick Mahomes 

Age: 25 Team history: Kansas City Chiefs (2017 -)  Super Bowl win: 2019 MVP: 2018

I think, if you followed sports news in the last couple of years, then the name Patrick Mahomes should be familiar.

This amazing young man came into the NFL like a storm when he was named starter in his second season. He won the league's MVP that year. In his third year, he led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl win and won Super Bowl MVP.

Before the 2020 season, he signed the second largest contract in sports history. It is a 10-year contract extension worth $477 million with another $26 million in potential bonuses, for a total of $503 million. 

It's quite shocking to believe that this past one was only his fourth year in the game and only his third as a starter. He led the Chiefs to another Super Bowl. Unfortunately, the GOAT was on the other side of the field, and with an injured O-Line the Chiefs didn't even have a chance. As a Chiefs fan, I can ensure you that that was their worst game of the season. Mahomes was running around for his life with his injured toe throughout the whole game.

I believe that we will only come back stronger next season.

Josh Allen

Age: 24 Team history: Buffalo Bills (2018 -)

2020 was the breakout season for Josh Allen. He improved in every aspect it is humanly possible. He completed 69.1% of his passes in the regular season which is 11% more than his first two seasons! He threw for 5361 yards and came in second for the MVP votes after Aaron Rodgers. He led the Buffalo Bills to the AFC Championship where they were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs.  

I think the future is very bright in Buffalo. Nothing else proves this more than players taking pay cuts just to be able to stay in Buffalo because they believe this team is a Super Bowl contender.

Lamar Jackson

Age: 24 Team history: Baltimore Ravens (2018 -) MVP: 2019

"Not your typical quarterback" could be a perfect Instagram bio for Lamar Jackson. 

This guy can run through any safety he wants to. In his last two seasons, he ran for over 1000 yards. No other QB has ever done that before! 

He also won the league's MVP honor in 2019 for his incredible season with the Ravens.

Justin Herbert

Age: 23 Team history: Los Angeles Chargers (2020 -)

Justin Patrick Herbert, aka the guy who made me become one of the biggest Chargers fan.

Herbert was thrown into the game without notice during Week 2 against the Chiefs when around 5 minutes before the game, the doctors accidentally punctured starting QB Tyrod Taylor's lung, and Justin had to step in. He led the team to overtime, where they almost defeated the reigning world champions.  He was named starter before the Week 5 game. 

Herbert rewrote the NFL rookie record book this past season. He broke almost every record including the most TDs by a rookie QB and most completions by a rookie QB. He received the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award and the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Year. 

I can't wait to see the Chargers succeed with the new coaching staff and their franchise QB. 

Also, I am praying to Tom Telesco every day to extend Hunter Henry and get my man an O-Line. UPDATE: Well, Hunter Henry is a Patriot now, BUT we signed the best center in the league, plus some other offensive linemen so we’re good for now.

Baker Mayfield 

Age: 25 Team history: Cleveland Browns (2018 -)

2018 number one overall pick Baker Mayfield was the hope the Browns needed for a long time. He threw 27 touchdowns in his 13 starts for the Browns in 2018, breaking the rookie-season passing-TD record (Justin Herbert broke this in the 2020 season). 

In 2020, he led the Browns to their first playoff since 2002, and they had their first playoff win since 1994.

Joe Burrow 

Age: 24 Team history: Cincinnati Bengals (2020 -)

2020 number one overall pick Joe Burrow is the star the Bengals needed. 

As a starting quarterback for LSU in 2019, he had the best season for a college quarterback ever. He threw for over 5000 yards and had 60 touchdowns. 

He had a very promising start in the NFL too. Unfortunately, during the Week 11 game against the Washington Football Team, he was hit while throwing a pass and subsequently tore his ACL and MCL in his left knee, as well as sustaining other damage to his PCL and meniscus, and was placed on injured reserve. He was breaking records left and right before his injury and was predicted to win OROTY before the season. 

Burrow said that he will be ready to start the 2020 season, and I can only hope that the Bengals will get him an O-Line so he won't suffer the fate of Andrew Luck.

four years wooooooooo??!!!!!!! honestly, i wish i was in a better mood for this special day to get one of my sappy messages out but 😔😔 i’m still so happy though!!! four years.. i can’t believe it tbh it’s such a long time that we’re both been here since he was my first muse in rookies and it’s not only his anniversary here but mine as well 😊💖 despite me being as busy as always and not getting any better with replying to plotting messages ( or messages in general i’M SORRY PLS FORGIVE ME ) over the past year things went pretty well for the both of us, i guess -- in a few months i’ve been on the mod team for a year and it’s been such an awesome experience for me and baekhyun finally made it to debut!!! and tbh i’m so happy that he got to debut before his anniversary idk it means a lot to me somehow?? skjd two milestones in the same month ( and his three year anniversary with @rkella is happening this week too skjdhf ) 🥳🎉🎉 we worked hard for it and i’m so proud of him. i’m proud of his growth, of his struggles that he manages to get through each time and for taking another step towards his dream, this is only the start for him and his group and we’re both so excited!! i can’t wait to see what this year in rookies will bring to us. as always, thank you to everyone i got to meet here. the amazing muns and the great friends i made, special shout-out to the mod team who always work hard and who i love a lot. i love working with you ;;; thank you for everyone who’s been alongside rkbyunbaek during his journey, to his friends and to all the awesome muses he got to meet. just thank you for being with him 💖💖

The hospital was a cold place.

A hot cup of thin hospital coffee would cool in minutes if you sat in the cafeteria corner. Room 503 was perpetually cold, and the nurses knew better than to let the extra stack of blankets run out in that room. The interns knew to say a prayer to ward off a chill when stepping out of the showers at six in the morning. 

But here, it was a such a warm place.

“We shouldn’t be doing this,” Ethan groaned as he pushed up against her, enveloping her in his arms as he pressed a line of hard kisses down her collarbone. 

“I don’t hear you complaining,” Trina breathed, word cut off as she sucked in breath in response to his touch. “And you’ve never heard me doing it.”

“Careful there, rookie.”

Trina threw her head back against the wall, just barely missing the framed degree on the wall by a hair’s breadth. 

“I don’t think I know how.”

He responded in touch, lifting her off her feet and delicately carrying her to the couch and setting her on it with the practiced grace of one who’d done it so many times before. Not for a woman he truly loved though, she realized. Perhaps she was the first.

Trina moaned as Ethan’s hands traced the skin under her shirt, his fingers starting to trace the edges of her bra. Surging forward, she reciprocated the touch, hurriedly undoing the tie at his throat and throwing it to the floor.

A tinge of reality peered into her mind and she shut her eyes, trying her best to push it out. That little voice in her head was yelling now, begging really. Any med student in school would have instantly sworn having an affair with a superior was a career killer. A life killer, some even claimed. But now, wrapped in the heat of it all against the chill of the early morning hospital aura, they couldn’t be more wrong.

“I want you,” Trina said breathlessly, fingers deftly moving to undo his shirt. “I’ve waited too many nights for this.”

“You say that like you haven’t considered me,” Ethan groaned, reaching up suddenly to cup her breasts from underneath her shirt. “Have you ever thought that I might have done the same?”

“I might have entertained the thought,” Trina teased, sliding the first part of his shirt down his shoulders. “But now I don’t have to.”

His touch suddenly intensified under her shirt and Trina squirmed in pleasure as he did so, hands shaking a shade too much to undo the rest of his shirt. 

“I hired you because you were good under pressure,” he growled, nipping at her neck and making her gasp even harder. “It looks like I was wrong.”

“Ethan Ramsey himself, admitting he was wrong about something?” Trina purred, recovering from the initial shock of the feeling and turning her attention back to his chest. “That’s a first.”

“And the only,” he promised before surging forward again and pulling her shirt up over her head and throwing the abandoned garment to the floor. Those hard blue eyes she’d first noticed the first rushing day at Edenbrook darkened with some kind of insatiable look, melting from an ice blue to a more mellifluous cloudy sky.

“I think we’re going to need a little more of this,” Trina said, gesturing to her nearly bare torso. “You’re a little overdressed tonight aren’t you?”

In one deft movement, she slipped the buttons off his trouser, quickly moving a hand in and smiling the quick inhale of air that followed.

“Let’s fix that tonight.”

Hours passed, and the couple still lay together on the couch, the sheen of exertion long dried as they drifted off into a comfortable sleep. Anyone seeing the scene would have had a heart attack and run out of there. It wasn’t for the common eyes alone.

“Trina.”

Trina groaned, exhaustion still pouring over her in waves as she buried her face deeper into Ethan’s chest. The hospital was turning cold again and she reveled in the warmth of his skin beneath her. 

“You have rounds in twenty minutes.”

“Do I?” Trina moaned, rubbing her eyes to hide against the bright beam of light still shining through one of the blinds. “How unfortunate.”

“For once, I’m in agreement,” the senior doctor groaned, wrapping one arm around her and pulling her back into the recesses of the night before. Trina sighed in contentment as she rested his head against him, drinking in the smell of clean, sharp soap and something just perfectly him.

“I guess I do have to get up before anyone walks in, don’t I?” Trina asked. “I’d be fired for sure.”

“And we can’t have that,” Ethan replied, gently hoisting her body off of his and giving her one last squeeze.  

Sighing, Trina walked the rounds of the room, picking up each fallen garment from where they had been thrown carelessly the night before. Her scrubs top lay forlornly besides the couch where Ethan had left it, the bra just behind the coffee table, a single earring on a desk.

“We did this,” Trina said as she hoisted the last pieces of clothing on. “We actually did this.”

She walked back over to the couch where Ethan still sat, reapplying his tie and smoothing out the creases in the white coat that she vividly remembered creating the night before. His face was unreadable, hearkening back to the cold demeanor he had assumed the first day they’d met. Surely, the old Ramsey couldn’t be back already.

“Ethan, we should talk about this. While it’s still fresh.”

His eye twitched, but his mouth said nothing.

“You have rounds in ten minutes now, rookie,” he said curtly, smoothing down his hair and spritzing on a small bit of cologne from his desk. Trina stood in shock for a small moment, then rushed to grab at his sleeve as he strode towards the door.

“What’s going on, Ethan?” she urged, trying to turn his gaze to hers. “Just a few minutes ago, we were all over each other. What’s this now?”

He paused for a moment, then rushed forward, gripping both her cheeks and drawing her close in a heated kiss. Trina gave a tiny gasp before he cut her off, and the heat roiling in her stomach seared up again as she leaned into the touch, trying to capture each second of every moment.

“I love this, Trina, I really do,” Ethan said, voice still husky from the night before. “But this isn’t something we can just flaunt.”

He paused, searching for words before she silenced him in advance with a finger to the lips.

“No one knows. And no one will.”

NBA Decade's Best

The league has been around for 7 decade now and entering its 8th at the end of the upcoming season. We have witnessed players on their stellar years and players on their waning moments, while others are just starting to build up their legacy as the "first someone". Like Vince Carter playing for his 22nd season at the Hawks, Giannis Antetokounmpo who just won an MVP award last season and Zion Williamson, who just made the draft but is already causing tremendous noise around the league. The never ending discussion of who the GOAT is, may remain as the game of NBA basketball continues. Fans on different eras may have different views of who the GOAT is and why he deserves that appellation. It's an arguable discussion and is sure to cause disputes in the NBA world. The difference of era played, poses a critical factor. That's why instead of having the GOAT in general, having it in decades may be less-arguable by eliminating one of the factor. This doesn't solve anything, but let's see who made the list of the "NBA Decade's Best".

The league was established in the mid 40's being one of the rare professional league in sports. It started with few teams represented by cities in states. By judging its quantity, there wasn't much competition yet, but players work to their bones for the sake of their dreams.

• 1940's & 50's

C| George "Big Mike" Mikan (1948-1956)

Minneapolis Lakers | 4x All Star

1940's stats: (128 GP) (27.8 PPG) (3.2 APG)

1950's stats: (311 GP) (20.3 PPG) (4.2 APG)

On a millennial's stand point, his stats is not that incredible, but they might pop their eyes out if you they were leaving on that era. He was dubbed as the league's first superstar and is known for his one handed jam that shooked the whole league. One of his most remarkable moments is his name alone vis-a-vis to a whole team (George Mikan vs New York Knickerbocker) displayed on the poster. He led his team with 5 title, all being a Laker. He's one of the earliest Naismith Hall of Fame inductee.

C| Wilt "The Big Dipper" Chamberlain (1959-1973)

Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers | 13× All Star

1960's stats: (788 GP) (34.2 PPG) (23.9 RPG) (4.5APG)

Standing at 7 foot 1 tall, he made a living inside. He was a monster at the board and literally, no one can stop him from having an offensive onslaught. He once scored an NBA record 100 points and is the only player to register a triple digit scoring output. Unbelievable that he has only one championship in the entire decade while enjoying a monstrous numbers. Well, championship wise, Bill Russell might've made it on the list instead, but the stilt just set the record book on fire.

C| Kareem "Cap" Abdul-Jabbar (1969-1989)

Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers | 19x All Star

1970's stats: (773 GP) (28.2 PPG) (14.4 RPG) (4.5 APG) (3.5 BPG)

Formerly Lew Alcindor, is known for his iconic shot "The Sky Hook" -- maybe the hardest shot to defend in basketball. As the NBA transitioned into a different era after the merger, Kareem's move to another team changed the landscape of the league forever, joining the later known "showtime LA". He had one championship with the Bucks and won the Finals MVP. He led the league in blocks thrice late in the decade and is a two time scoring champion.

• 1980's

PG| Earvin "Magic" Johnson (1979-1996)

Los Angeles Lakers | 12x All Star

1980's stats: (718 GP) (20 PPG) (7.3 RPG) (11.5 APG) (2.04 SPG)

The first PG in the list after decades of center dominance. Magic's relenteless passing ability gave birth to "Showtime". His triple double performance in the 1980 NBA Finals while playing multiple position is arguably, still the best performance by a rookie. He led the Lakers to 8 finals appearances and winning 5 of it. His individual rival " Larry Bird" from the Celtics, made his life not so easy taking a serious hit in the '84 Finals. The 80's is one of the toughest era in the NBA, and Magic and the Lakers came out the best of it.

SG| Michael "Air" Jordan (1984-2003)

Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards | 14x All Star

1990's stats: (503 GP) (30 PPG) (6.3 RPG) (4.9 APG) (2.2 SPG)

In any of the GOAT's discussion, his name maybe took the most appearances. He carried the Bulls into 6 championships without losing and is the only player to retire twice after every 3-peats. He broke several player's dreams to embrace the championship trophy giving way only to the Houston Rockets who won it during his retirement period. Apart from winning 6 Finals MVP, he was also declared as the season MVP 4x in the entire decade.

• 2000's

SG| Kobe "Black Mamba" Bryant (1996-2016)

Los Angeles Lakers | 18x All Star

2000's stats: (755 GP) (28.4 PPG) (5.8 RPG) (5.3 APG) (1.6 SPG)

With the toughest era to live with, Kobe maybe the most disputable player who made it into the list. He is known for his intensity and mentality. Along with Shquille O'neal, he brough the Lakers back into the championship block and won 4 in the decade. As a scoring machine, he sets the record 81 points as the most point scored in the shot clock era and is remarkably known for his 63 point performance in 3 quarters outscoring the whole Mavericks team.

SF| Lebron "The King" James (2003-still playing)

Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers | 15x All Star

2010's stats: (650 GP) (26.6 PPG) (7.7 RPG) (7.5 APG) (1.5 SPG)

With the emergence of superteams and offensive minded players, Lebron had full control of his throne despite losing the Finals multiple times. His 8 consecutive appearances in the Finals with 2 different teams is a never before seen feat in the league. He took the Heat to its first consecutive championships and Cleveland to its first ever major sports championship in more than 6 decades after destroying the historic 73-9 Warriors.

• 2020's (Prospect)

PF| Giannis "The Greek Freak" Antetokounmpo (2013-still playing)

Milwaukee Bucks | 3x All Star

Prior stats: (465 GP) (18.8 PPG) (8.3 RPG) (4.3 AST) (1.2 SPG) (1.3 BPG)

Despite winning the MVP award, surprisingly, he's not yet on his peak. If he's level of play continues and improve, I can't think of any other player who can outperform him. Unbelievable that he's just 24.

Marlins outfielder Jesus Sanchez channels Kevin Mitchell in bare-handed catch

MLB infielders have often shown the ability to make defensive plays with their bare hands. On Monday night, however, Marlins outfielder Jesus Sanchez made an impressive bare-handed snag on a fly ball down the right field line. The catch immediately brought baseball fans back to a similar catch made by Giants outfielder Kevin Mitchell back in 1989, when he caught a foul ball off the bat of Cardinals shortstop Ozzie Smith in the left field corner. Carson Wentz was denied No. 11 by a new Colts teammate

Michael Pittman Jr. is attached to Carson Wentz’s old number and he’s not giving it up.

Carson Wentz will have a new number when he debuts for the Indianapolis Colts. The quarterback has worn No. 11 since his college days with the North Dakota State Bison, but he won’t be able to rock the number with the Colts after a teammate denied his request.

Wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. currently wears No. 11 for the Colts. Wentz reportedly asked Pittman if he’d be interested in switching numbers following the trade that brought the 28-year-old quarterback to Indy last week, but Pittman said he wanted to keep the number.

TMZ spoke to Pittman about his exchange with Wentz and here’s what he said:

“Yeah, so I spoke to [Carson] and he was just seeing how locked in I was to #11, and I told him I was locked in — and he was like, ‘That’s cool, bro, because I’m probably gonna switch anyway.’”

“He asked me very respectfully and I just appreciated him for that. I think he’s a great dude, because lots of guys with his status, they would come in and demand and stuff like that.”

Wentz last wore a number other than No. 11 at Century High School in Bismarck, North Dakota when he was No. 20 on the football field and No. 50 on the basketball court. He won’t be able to wear either of those numbers with the Colts because of NFL rules on which numbers quarterbacks can wear.

Who is Michael Pittman Jr.?

Michael Pittman Jr. is a wide receiver out of USC who the Colts selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the No. 34 overall pick. Pittman ended his rookie year with 40 receptions for 503 yards and one touchdown. He had a breakout game in the Colts’ opening round playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills, finishing with five catches for 90 yards.

Pittman is the son of Michael Pittman, a former NFL running back who was a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl XXXVII-winning team. You might remember Pittman rushed for 124 yards in that victory over the Oakland Raiders.
