Seven Covers in Seven Days: The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman
tagged by e-b-reads to post the cover of a book you love and tag someone else to do the same every day for a week!
Chris Riddell is on my all-time favorite artist list (so distinctive! so fancy!) and this collaboration with The Neil Gaiman to write a fairy tale retelling (also one of my favorite things) is gem.
tagging @agardenandlibrary! (as always, no obligation to participate if you don’t feel inclined!)
bonus illustration because I can't resist:

She smiled, and it was as if the sun shone into that dim room. "The little people will stop where they are, now. I do not like them. And you, girl. You will sleep too."
"No," said the Queen.

OCTOBER IN THE CHAIR (2002) (link) - tw: death, child abuse
October nodded. "Shall we proceed to my story, then?"
LOOKING FOR THE GIRL (1998) (link)
I don't remember much about the issue itself; all I remember is Charlotte. Hair wild and tawny, eyes provocative, smiling like she knew all the secrets of life, and she was keeping them close to her naked chest. The text said that she was nineteen.
THE SLEEPER AND THE SPINDLE (2013) (link)

""It is not plague," said the sot by the window, whose beard was long and gray, and stained yellow with beer and wine. "It is sleep, I tell you."

Sometimes you finish a book (Thornhedge) that just came out (it's still release day) and you're completely filled with feelings and gratitude that you got to read something so sweet and wholesome and then you remember the author also lives here (hey @tkingfisher I love you) and can encourage her to keep writing because it matters, and it makes other people's lives better. If you see this, thanks, Ursula. I really needed it today ♥️
