it's not even the tv shows themselves at this point it's the fact that almost all of our current wlw representation has been cancelled. we're currently facing the threat of our rights being taken away so we find comfort and happiness in shows where we're represented and they get taken away too. it makes me so fucking angry and so fucking sad at the same time, and I just feel defeated

My favorite thing about the wilds is almost every girl has had a scene where they totally lose it and all the other girls just watch them, no interruptions, and they are like “okay,” help them through it, and then they move on without judgment/no making it weird

The aggressive one also being the caregiver of the group.
(aka the softer side of Kirin in The Wilds season 2)

My ideal way for season 3 of the wilds to end would be for the teens to outsmart Gretchen’s smarmy ass and trap her and her research bitches on the island to fend for their damn selves. Leatin and shoni are happy and drama free. The only Hetero couple I would accept is Marty and Bo just because I think they could be cute together. Everyone else becomes bffs with each other. Seth gets fucking obliterated and Nora realizes she’s been a dumb hoe and helps save everyone and redeems herself. I would also like to see dean beat up that psychiatrist dude who’s name I can’t be bothered to remember. All the shitty parents leave the kids alone. And everyone gets some fucking therapy and lives happily ever after while Gretchen Klein rots in obscurity.

Saw a take that the boys wouldn’t stick up for each other or die for each other and did we watch the same show? The entire plot with Leah and Raf was centred around the fact that these boys saw one of their own go through a horrifying trauma, banded together as a group to protect him, and then not ONE of them said a word about it, like Josh asked. The scientists couldn’t get a single one of those boys to talk. The dark spot around day 15 was these boys keeping that secret locked up. They kept that secret for Josh, because no matter what the fucking suits asking them questions wanted, they were never going to betray him like that.
And their WHOLE arc is about learning to protect each other, about learning that the survival of the group has to outweigh everything else. That’s the point of Bo and Scotty stealing food and then finally learning that they don’t have to, that the other boys won’t let them starve. That’s the point of the arc following the assault, where it revolves around the boys all deciding that as much as the detest what Seth did, they can’t just let him die in the woods alone, because they’re all in this together. They all decide to come together, even knowing what Seth did, until it’s revealed that Seth is too much of a monster for them to feel safe with him around. They gave him a second chance, until his lies come apart and they expel him for the good of the group.
And the boys also had to deal with one of their own being a monster, which the girls did not have to deal with. It’s easier to create a strong, familial bond when you trust that you’re safe with these other people. What Seth did to Josh broke the trust they had built. They come together and slay an apex predator. They’re clearly on their way to building a strong, close bond, and then it’s completely shattered by Seth. The tension we feel between them all comes from the sudden awareness that they don’t actually know if they’re safe together anymore. They thought that the one thing they could count on on that island was that, with literally everything else trying to kill them, the eight of them would be safe together, and that was ruined. That’s why, especially at first, it’s an all or nothing, us or him mentality. That’s why they fight over what to do with the fish, how to handle the situation with the lighter, etc. They aren’t just at odds with Seth now, they don’t trust each other at all.
The boys aren’t supposed to have the same level of connection and community as the girls. They can’t, because of Seth. To say this makes their story less compelling makes no sense. The fact that a group of teenage boys heard that one of their own had been harmed by the most charismatic and well loved member of the group and they banded together to protect him, and that all of them kept the secret together, shows that their bond and dynamic is just as steadfast as the girls, it’s just going to be shown differently. It’ll be interesting to see in s3 how the boys dynamic will shift once one they know the whole story and especially once they realise that not only is Seth gone but he was also the mole.

the wilds being cancelled, gentleman jack being cancelled, the horrible killing eve ending, first kill not being renewed yet despite massive views...our representation is dwindling and I don't think that's an accident

Shelby’s “I never won’t love her” had me thinking how true that must be for all of the girls. It’s crazy to think how hard it would be to go back to a normal life after they’ve experienced this together. Like how do you go on and live without one another after fighting off death and saving each other’s lives day in and day out.

Okay so I also wanted to write my thoughts more in depth about the boys.
Like I said before I ended up like the boys more than I thought I would. Idk why but even though Bo didn’t have a super prominent presence like some of the others his character just kind of stood out to me. I just felt for him. I was shocked to find that I actually really liked kirin. I thought his subversion to the jock boy persona was kind of nice and I liked that even though he had those traits he still had that asshole frat boy attitude. I really liked ivan at first but I’m not gonna lie his constant need to insert himself did become a bit grating. I understand that was part of his character arc but I found that they relied on it a bit too much in every scene that he was in in the middle. I thought raf was an okay character. They made it seem like at the beginning he was going to be like the center boy character but then they just kind of dropped that and honestly in certain episodes I kind of forgot about him. I really liked Henry. His whole vibe was very different from all of the wilds characters and I really liked that. Though I felt like he was mainly just a plot device to make sure the boys could survive on the island and to add flavor to Seth’s storyline. I don’t really have much to say about Scotty. He was funny but he was kind of just a filler character to me. Josh was also just okay to me. I obviously felt for him with what happened with Seth and everything but I found it strange that he’s the only one who didn’t get a flashback? I know he basically told why he was there and his past but it just seemed like an odd choice. Especially when you’re supposed to show not tell but I digress. For Seth, wow what a majorly messed up son of a bitch. Absolute human garbage but an intriguing addition for next season. He was a piece of shit but it was kind of nice to have a villain within the groups especially as a confederate. Between him and Nora I there’s a decent balance. Now for the way it all actually came together I think they kind of failed. Obviously everyone fell in love with the girls and they’re dynamic so that’s what we wanted to see. I understand that for Gretchen to have her experiment there had to be a control group but I just think they executed it wrong. The way they set up the episodes had too much going on. The flow of the episodes I think got messed up with the flip flopping between islands, the bunker, and three different time periods. And personally the boys time on the island just didn’t seem to have much going on tbh. They fought the jaguar and then the rest of the drama was about Seth. Obviously they had to fall apart some way but it seemed like the girls just had so much more spice going on in the first season. Obviously due to the back and forth. I preferred watching the scenes with the girls but it literally felt like I watched 5 minutes of them compared to like an hour of the boys and it just really sucked. I think there was just a better way for them to implement the boy group idea. I kind of fear of what could be in store for season 3. On one hand I’ll be glad we won’t have to switch back and forth between islands and we already know back stories so we can get to the meat of the story but on the other I’m just worried about the flow and the writing of trying to put the two groups together. I’ll stay optimistic though and obviously hope for a season 3.
