Just so yall know, my school’s musical (which you should totally listen to if you like musical theatre bc it’s pretty obscure but so good, it’s called Lucky Stiff, by Flaherty and Ahrens. Anyway…) is starting tech/show week this weekend so I’m going to be pretty inactive until some time next week.

I didn't get a callback from an audition I felt really, really confident about. The director made it clear that people not invited to callbacks will not be cast. I'm confused, disappointed, and sad.

tech in theatre is so fun bc u literally show up to spot a guy while he hangs a couple lights for one day and suddenly you're the one in charge of the lighting board for the entire run of the show

(NB: from what I remember.)

- Roger Allam (as Falstaff in Henry IVs and as Prospero in The Tempest <3 )

- Clare Holman (as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, opposite Michael Maloney (who guested in Lewis!) as Romeo)

- Danny Webb (in a play by Ben Elton that I actually hated but he was very good in it)

(I’ve inevitably seen more in recorded versions of plays! Especially Jack Laskey who has a delightful tendency to frequent the Globe and be amazing. And I’ve seen a significant number more guest actors live, including Robert Stephens and Jane Lapotaire.)

I need more of the Endeavour cast to come up to Scotland for some theatre productions at some point. ;-) And I’d love to see Roger live again one day. :-)

my middle school didn’t even DO musicals. we did weirdass plays. one year i distinctly remember some play called who poisoned his meatball. and to make it even better the ONE YEAR we were going to do a musical (the sound of music because catholics) we were about to have tech week and then boom covid

my middle school wasnt supposed to have a theatre class . but then first day they scrambled, took the band teacher and 7th honors English teacher, and made them dual teach musical theatre. this meant us performing the music man WAS OUR FINAL ASSIGNMENT. i find these circumstances really funny

Guess who just bought tickets to see Hamilton in the west end as a birthday present for me, my siblings, my brother’s girlfriend and my brother-in-law!!! Stupid money that I definitely can’t afford without my parents reimbursing but I AM SO EXCITED!!!
