Collecting My Heritage(s)

“This essay features two main concepts, that of collecting and that of heritage. When I first started building a music collection, I never thought about the implications this might have for the discovery and, implicitly, for the conservation of a music heritage, which could, otherwise, be lost. The two concepts do not always have to be related to one another, yet, in certain cases, one informs the other in such a way, that they become almost inseparable. But before I address the issue of how music collecting and building a cultural heritage have become entangled phenomena in my personal history, I should attempt to provide some sort of definition for these two concepts, in order to better grasp how their content is formed and how it functions. ...”

【OLO Focus】陳柏宇 無信仰者的信念之歌

嘗試在搜尋器輸入「有天」，以為這該是數十位歌手都曾選用過的歌名，但這平凡至極的名字，又意料之外地沒有被很多人選上。《有天》是陳柏宇最新推出的單曲，講述只要人安好，就能迎來明天的期望，也是將推出的��輯的圓滿句點：「我們對滿足的貪念太多，小事往往會被忽略，但假若你在放假時能享受獨處，人生應該會容易滿足得多。」

《有天》好陽光，像是在冬眠後在初春中醒來，幾乎讓我忘掉上一首推出的是《命盡頭》，如西西弗斯般儘管每天重覆地推著大石，也要咬緊牙關接受。在專輯中，《有天》被安放於《命盡頭》之後，有點急轉彎，但對陳柏宇而言沒有半點不連貫，就如同電影高潮通常在最後十五分鐘才隆重登場，而最後五分鐘是喘息的結尾。在《對得起自己》和《有我》等大愛作���後，有《墜落》和《命盡頭》呈現著生活的種種困難，以《有天》作結，對他而言是一場華麗的美好結局：「我喜歡大團圓結局，但又不想用正能量一字去解釋，繼續走下去不一定有成功的一天。可能最後也是滿身傷疤，但起碼多多少少有點得著袋進袋。」

他對新作有著單純的喜愛，因為當中存在信念，而儘管陳柏宇近期的作品都有讓人仰望的能力，他卻承認自己是個欠缺信念的人：「我沒宗教背景，或是邏輯常掌控了感性思維。往往有信仰的人的信念較強，而信念當中存在一份力量，大部分時間都是好的力量，所以我羨慕有信念的人。」羨慕滋長的原因，是因為他欠缺這種好情���，於是他特別著迷那些包含信念情節的電影，無論是悟空要保護地球，還是《我的英雄學院》裡頭的綠谷出久，他對這種世間罕有的情懷都有種情義結，每次翻看他仍是瞬間動容。

因為邀請了 Cousin Fung 和周耀輝等分別負責曲詞，令新作更富宏大的隆重感，而歌詞卻提及生活微小，包括「請記住能睡覺 / 如明日未到 / 都有天 / 有一天」，吃喝睡都要好好對待，日子才能好好活。「很多時候，那些想尋求的滿足感似乎在日常中未能獲得，並非因為日常所提供的不滿足，而是我們貪念太多。像是不少女生的愛情觀，老是要追求可歌可泣，覺得男人要捐個腎給她才是愛情，卻不明白浪漫是簡單如日常相處。」吃飽睡飽就值得滿足，他提到這樣的概念往往要到年紀漸長才理解，華衣美食都嚐過，才知道成功換取回來所得到的幸福，原來不是想像般長久，最長久的事就是最簡單的事。

滿足於小事，又不代表沒鬥心地空白渡日。承接「Fight For」演唱會，這次也延續 fight 的氣勢，灌注於專輯名字之內。「平衡很重要，我覺得不能抱著極端佛系的心態，人完全欠缺鬥心並不可行，但人也不能只有鬥心，否則會令自己完全不能接受意料之外的事情。這張專輯想帶出的意念是努力爭取、拒絕承認失敗的一種精神。」快將迎來年末，對比過往的專輯，不單是和愛情關聯最少的一次，也是他歷年來參與得最多的一次，而對今年大小的事情，他都滿足非常，想必包括了將迎來期待已久的新家庭成員，嘗試過後，得到所想的結局，甜美總是來得更為實在。

When I turned around, I almost jumped out of my skin!  There was an amazing portrait sitting up behind some vases.  It was of a very beautiful red-headed woman....it had to be a portrait of Thymian Boedell.

ELIAS- “This is going downstairs!  We need to hang this in the living room.!”

And as I looked a little further and my eyes became more accustomed to the dim lighting, I saw another portrait...

This one was actually hanging up near a table. with some books on it and other things...In the corner of the portrait it read... “Nico Boedell, Realm Master”

ELIAS- “WOW!  He really looks like me...or I look like him! This one is going downstairs too.  Nico was Thymian’s father, so they would hang downstairs next to one another.”

 And as I turned....I saw a large book sitting on the table...could this be?

When I got home I decided to go up into the attic and look around. The book that Philip Goth had spoke of was in the forefront of my mind, so maybe it just might be in the attic, was my presumption. I am sure that my grandmother Vada probably hid it better than that, but it was worth a try.

No one had been up here in quite sometime, and I had to replace a light bulb to get enough light so that I could actually see up here.

Books, crates of more books, papers, maps...there was book on a book stand, but it was an old family bible. I skimmed through it, but nothing was in there that I didn’t already know.  I saw a painting on the wall of some kind of building, with blueprints.  I looked closer, and it said it was the “Realm House” in Alexandria. That was where the Witch Master resided years ago.  But it was destroyed during the Vampire Purge. I kept looking, but still no book of spells....
