I was thinking about the count of monte cristo while I painted this. Maybe an AUwhere Edmond can enact revenge when he’s young. So much vengeance in his heart 😔 #lastanimartiststanding #thecountofmontecristo #revenge #edmonddantes #visdev https://www.instagram.com/p/CgGQQhDLR2E/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
I've heard of and watched the 1975 film with Richard Chamberlain, and it's one of my favorite adaptions!
I have the 2002 DVD and I've watched it maybe twice, but I honestly love and hate it at the same time.
Gankutsuou is another DVD set I have as well since I'm a lover of anime as well. I absolutely adore the artwork and the futuristic setting while they keep it rather close to the book. I'm actually not quite done with it, but when I finish it, I'll write something about it.
Fun fact, I actually started watching the K-drama, Miss Monte Cristo and it's intriguing, so I just might pick it up again sometime soon.
The Russian musical Monte Cristo is also one that's caught my eye, but since I don't speak Russian fluently yet, It's difficult to find. I've seen some clips of it though, and I honestly like the costume and staging.
Frank Wildhorn's Count Of Monte Cristo is actually a favorite of mine, and was essentially what drew me to learn about the book after I had my musical playlist on shuffle and it auto played I Know Those Eyes.
Okay, I've heard of I Am Edmond Dantes via Russian musical theaters that I follow and was able to translate the title, but I do not know much of it.
Ah! Radio dramas my beloved, I've listened to both Mercury Radio and Lux radios productions and loved them!
I've seen Garfield and Friends' episode as well lol.
I actually remember Edmond being in Once Upon A Time, but I really should rewatch it because that was years ago before I read the book.
I actually didn't realize I consumed so much media from it 😂
There's also another musical that I stumbled across but I've got no idea where it's from or who wrote it.
On This Day in History June 3, 1925: Actor and heartthrob Bernard Schwartz was born in Manhattan, New York. Don't know who Bernard Schwartz is? Maybe you've heard him by his more famous name of Tony Curtis (June 3, 1925 - December 29, 2010.)
Curtis had a wide range when it came to acting from comedic roles in "Some Like It Hot" (1959) to drama in "The Defiant Ones" (1958) and "The Count of Monte Cristo" (1975) to thrillers in the "Sweet Smell of Success (1957.)
Curtis is the father of actress Jamie Lee Curtis via his marriage to fellow actress Janet Leigh.

The Count of Monte Cristo was one of the last books I finished in 2022 and I was lucky to read it alongside some fabulous bookstagrammers, invoking discussions that just added to a perfect reading experience. Looking at the size of this novel, I’m not surprised that some readers put it off, I was certainly in that camp myself. Honestly though, it reads like a dream and once I was 50 or so pages in, I completely forgot about the length of the story, I was just completely captivated by the adventure of it all. This novel tells the story of Edmond Dantès, a young man who is falsely imprisoned for a crime he did not carry out. During his years in prison, he becomes friendly with a neighbouring prisoner who tells him of a vast hoard of treasure hidden on the island of Monte Cristo. Edmond becomes determined to escape his confinement, find the treasure and revenge himself on the three men responsible for his incarceration. That’s all I want to say synopsis wise as it’s so much more exciting to let you go and find out all the marvellous secrets of this novel yourself. At points, it almost reads like a thriller, the plot is so compulsive and twisting that it’s difficult to put it down. I also loved the insight Dumas gives into the other characters in play, some likeable, some villainous and there’s some that are even swaying between the two spectrums! It’s also an interesting look into the flawed nature of humanity and how easily we can be manipulated, or hold a grudge for so long that it consumes us entirely, and not in a healthy way. I’ll never forget this reading journey with the Count and his friends/enemies and urge you with my whole heart to give this book a go. The Count Of Monte Cristo was my favourite and most surprising novel of 2022 and now has a special place in my heart as one of my favourite classics.
