Man I love The Count Of Monte Cristo so much.

But the ending always throws me off.

What do you mean hehad a whole epiphany after Mercedes talked to him?!?? Just suddenly he's like "All of this was a waste, vengeance is God's, not mine and I'm wrong because I took it upon myself and what do I have to show for it?"

For some reason there is nothing funnier to me than King Louis XVIII acting like he came straight out of a telenovela with all the sass of a teen drama show character:

"At the sight of this agitation Louis XVIII pushed from him violently the table at which he was sitting."

"Louis made a gesture of indescribable anger and alarm, and then drew himself up (from the table he just shoved???? Who knows) as if this student blow had struck him at the same moment in heart and countenance."

20 pages into Monte Cristo and this book is so funny. Edmond walks into a room like hi :D how is your morning? and at least three people immediately start seething and wishing for his murder

Miniseries Jacopo is giving too much dog energy. He’s totally the Count’s dog. Does something, wags his tail, and runs over to Count for approval. No matter when or where, the moment the Count calls, he appears. And he’s always giving the Count these worried looks, like he genuinely cares about his mental and physical health...

Miniseries Jacopo: *sees 2024 movie Count has two wolfdogs* Miniseries Jacopo: *to his Count*: “You don’t need dogs. Because your dog is here."

This man just signed up willingly. Employee or guard dog? I can tell the difference. ☝🏼☝🏼

Finally started watching Gankutsuou (Count Of Monte Cristo anime) and I'm hooked.

So far it's lining up with the book fairly well, and I'm loving the art styles so much.
