Dollar diesen Sci-Fi-Actionfilm. ▪️ Inhalt: Eine Flotte gigantischer Raumschiffe nähert sich der Erde. Die riesigen Flugkörper positionieren sich über den größten Metropolen der Welt und verdunkeln den Himmel. Mit gezielten Schüssen machen sie die Städte dem Erdboden gleich – Millionen Menschen sterben. Doch die Invasoren wollen mehr – die totale Vernichtung der Menschheit. US-Präsident Whitmore bläst zum Angriff. Am Unabhängigkeitstag will Amerika, verbündet mit allen Streitkräften der Erde, den ungeladenen Gästen aus dem All den Garaus machen. Ein schier aussichtloser Kampf beginnt… ▪️ Besetzung: Hauptrolle(n): Will Smith als Captain Steven Hiller, Jeff Goldblum als David Levison, Bill Pullman als Präsident Thomas Whitmore. In weiteren Rollen u. a.: Judd Hirsch als Julius Levison, Robert Loggia als General William Grey, Margaret Colin als Connie Spano, Randy Quaid als Russell Casse. ▪️ Epilog: Roland Emmerichs INDEPENDENCE DAY ist zuallererst ein fulminantes Action-Spektakel mit hohem Unterhaltungswert und einer durchaus interessanten Story, die aber nicht viel Neues bietet. Die Worte “Willkommen auf der Erde“, nachdem man einem Alien eine runtergehauen hat, haben sich Ende der 90er in mein Hirn eingebrannt. Ein Zeichen für das Augenzwinkern und den Spaß, mit dem die Macher am Werk waren. Will Smith und Jeff Goldblum tragen den Film auf ihren Schultern brillieren mit Charme, Witz und einer tollen Chemie untereinander. Ein fader Beigeschmack bleibt aufgrund des zum Teil sehr hohen Patriotismus.
