BOOK REVIEW: THE KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO BY @patricknessbooks Okay, I am NGL, the first book in the series literally took me ages to finish. I don’t know if I was in a reading slump or just not in the mood to read this specific book but it took me 3 months + to finish it!! It was insanely long and a tad bit exhausting but your sis powered through! 💪🏻 Disclaimer though, the story is not boring at all, it doesn’t drag and the action picks up right from the beginning but yea I was in some kind of funk so… What really surprised me and I had a lot of trouble getting along with it were the spellings. The narrator of the story, Todd, can’t read or write hence spellings like affecshun instead of affection. Also so much is going on and you’re just confusion!!!?!? I loved this anniversary edition because it has pages like this (swipe) – a messy representation of what noise looks like. It’s a little daunting but I loved it! I thought I wouldn’t like the book and might have to DNF for later but I did and OMG NO ONE TOLD ME IT WAS GOING TO BE SAD!!!! *ugly crys* I went in completely blind as in I didn’t know this was a sci fi novel. We are on an unknown planet where there are no women and the men can hear each other’s thoughts which is called the “noise.” Meaning if you think it, everyone hears it, but with so many thoughts cause you know “men think a lot” (not!) its chaos! Todd is the only boy in all the manly settlement and is soon going to become a man. But Todd finds a girl (Viola) a few days before his birthday and his world is turned upside down. The women on this planet don’t have noise so you can’t hear their thoughts. I liked Todd, he was the cutest, softest and stupidest teenage boy ever! He was awesome. I adopted him as my fictional son! Overall, this book surprised me because you are confusion till page 150 and even then it’s filled with WHYs and WAHAT? And OH NOs! Solid 4/5. The movie was a disappointment, as usual. Only watched it for Tom Holland because he made the perfect Todd! This series has been on my TBR for a while, but I finally read it! Overall, I thought it was an okay series. I found the world to be super interesting, but the plot dragged on for a little in the last book, and I kept on getting frustrated with the main characters because they never say how they were being manipulated. QOTD: Favorite book in this series? AOTD: It's a tie between Monsters of Men and The Knife of Never Letting Go. This is one of the books that I really did not expect too much because I am not a fan of 'YA' sci-fi adventure novels. However, this book excites me from the beginning, the narration was clear and it gave me a lot of pleasure listening. This one gave me goosebumps and sad feelings mix altogether. Every chapter was thought-provoking, exhilarating, adventurous, heart-wrenching and just plain perfection. I've never read (or yeah heard because I was listening to audible) a piece like this before, everything was original. Here's why you should read/listen to the book. 1. Of course, other than that its movie is already in its post-production and will be released probably this year, this book is really fast-paced, adventurous, action-packed and emotional. It will make you awake late at night at the edge of your seat thinking what will happen next. 2. This book will make you realize that the noise of men is different from the noise of women and that it needs logical thinking to make them relevant to each other. 3. Every character in this book is complex and has a certain personality that you will like, dislike and even hate. 4. Every scene, story, and character in this book is original. 100% new, unique and authentic. 5. The most likable about this book is that there's no instant love affair or love at first sight between characters. Yes, they build care and love but in a more remarkable way. I really enjoyed my audible experience for this book. Nick Podehl was superb in narrating the whole book. I hope you will enjoy it too. Run Boy Run - Todd Hewitt

Idk if it’s just me but I listened to Run Boy Run after I heard it in the Divergent movie the other day. And I googled the lyrics coz they sounded familiar and I swear to fucking god they wrote that song to be played in The Knife of Never Letting Go movie. It’s 100% Todd Hewitt’s song I can imagine Ben saying some of the lyrics and then it plays in the background as Todd is leaving Prentisstown!
