OCT 6-12 Spain

On Thursday my mom messaged me earlier in the day to let me know that my package had been accepted, so I did not go to class just in case something would come in the mail, but of course around the time I was supposed to be in class my mom told me that it was being held in customs. So I did not receive it. On friday I went to class like normal and talked with Sofia and Valentina, we made plans to go to taco bell on Saturday (today). So this morning I woke up at 8, took a shower, got dressed, and ate. Hong let me have one of her bananas so I at least was able to eat something different for breakfast. I left the flat at 0930ish and took Canal to Santo Domingo and walked to Callao, which of course I walked the wrong way before I realized and turned around. I then met with Sofia and we went to Primark where we spent an hour and Sofia bought gloves and pillowcases, then we went to fnac because we still had time until lunch. There we went to the top floor for books and Sofia debated between one about feminism and one about a trans girl. After fnac we waited a bit until closer to 1200 and also texted to see if Valentina was coming to join, she was not. We then went to Taco Bell and it was still 5 minutes to the opening time so we went and sat on some nearby chairs and talked a bit. We finally were able to get in and order, I got a quesorito with mexican fries and Sofia got a quesadilla with nachos. Sofia paid. We ate and had fun talking. We finally decided to get up and walk back to Sol to take our metro home after that. I went home and took a nap before I had to meet up with Juan and the group to go on an excursion. I finally left my house around 1840 to meet at Anton Martin at 1930. I was early as always. But the rest of the group was too surprisingly. We all chatted away until Juan and Maria, and their children (I think) joined us. We then went to a place called Casa Patas Flamenco En Vivo, where we got to see a flamenco show and eat some tapas, we had croquetas, jamon con queso, pan, y tortilla española. There were all super good. The show was so beautiful and amazing, I really loved seeing it and experiencing it for real. I would love to see another show while I am here in Madrid. I loved everything about it, the atmosphere, music, dancing, singing, costumes, clapping and snapping, all of it. After the show we all talked and walked to Sol again and Juan talked to me about my debit card and said that if I was not able to get it out of customs by Wednesday to let him know and he will help me open a spanish bank account with Santander. I am very thankful for him. After we got to Sol everyone but Daniel and I wanted to go out, and I also have only 0,40 Euros left. Daniel and I split from the group and walked around the centre, he also got taro bubble tea and shared it with me. We walked and we got to an area where Las Chicas del Cable was filmed and he also pointed out random historic things which was very interesting to learn about. We walked to La Latina, the palace, Gran Via, close to Reitro, and finally to a station the bring us home. When we got on the metro it was so crowded that I didn’t even have a pole to grab to. We finally got off and I took the elevator with Daniel to get to the street level. We walked and talked while going back to out flats. We also found out that we are both ENFJ personality types. Anyway we parted ways and now here I am on my bed at technically 0100 on Sunday morning. So hasta luego.

On Sunday I did literally nothing. Monday I was able to pick up the money my mom sent at the local correos, 400 Euros 100 of which are paying people back. After that I was able to buy some food like an actual person. I then we home until I had to go to class, I had Spanish and I spoke about La Casa de Papel. Yesterday I went actual grocery shopping, I bought things for lentil soup and for blueberry buckle. I am so excited to make that stuff. I was able to really experience what grocery shopping in depth is like. I also watched the entire first season of Las Chicas del Cable and got so invested in it that I was having a hard time with my english. Also I hate how English words aren't spelt how they sound. Like what is up with that? Well anyway, today I am planning on going to Hema to buy a baking dish and some measuring cups. Then after I have two classes and then at 1930 I have a language exchange that Laura might come to, it is also in a bookstore so I am excited.

On wednesday I went to HEMA and bought earrings, a baking dish, a whisk, and a measuring cup. I then went home and got ready for my day, watched Las Chicas and went to class. After class I went home and got ready for my language exchange, I went with Katurah and Elsie from SUNY. We ate tapas before going and then went to the exchange, with duolingo, and it was actually pretty good and fun. I enjoyed it a lot. Thursday I finally heard something about my package but couldn't figure out what to do with it, and Juan couldn't either so he told me to go to Correos. I asked Daniel to go with me and he was going to but then I asked again around 1700 and an emergency came up so he was not able to. I became very anxious and went to go to Correos and then was too anxious to talk to anyone so I stared at the ticket machine and walked out and then went next door to look at the kitchen stuff and I finally found measuring spoons and was very happy about that. I then also got ice cream and potatoes on my way home. Then today was Friday. I woke up at 8 to meet Sofia and her friend at Chueca, the gay neighborhood. We went to Dunkin there and then walked around Chueca and Gran Via for a few hours until it started raining and we were at Sol so we went to Sofia's house. At Sofia's flat we, Latticia and I, drank wine and beer while sofia drank coke. We ate some jamon and then went to the store to buy more snacks and we also made guacamole. It was a very good day, very relaxed but amazing. Tomorrow they are coming for breakfast. I am excited.
