Pari!Reader gets sad when their leaf mask gets torn. Whether they were playing too rough or Wei (the cat in the inn lobby) tore it, they lost their mask. They have those sad anime eyes (the cutely exaggerated ones). They want to fix it, but no one else knew about that leaf mask.

They stay gloomy for the rest of the day until Xiao comes back.

The next day, they see a little replica of Xiao’s mask made from wood. It was sitting near their nest. When they tried it in, it was light but sturdy. Who could have gotten it for them? How was it so detailed? Who could have known? Oh well. Time to play, little Pari thinks.

Xiao didn’t have the heart to just leave them after he heard them crying when the leaf mask was ripped. He might have put a charm on this one so it wouldn’t break as easily.

xiao was better than this. the last yaksha, conqueror of demons, the bane of all evil himself.. searching the plains of liyue well into the night for a suitable piece of wood to carve. it wasn’t for an offering, it wouldn’t be turned into an incense bowl or statue, it was neither for a critical repair or somehow enchanted to be a danger. no, this wood would be used for a far more frivolous purpose: you.

you, who he’d been watching from the roof as you played on the balcony below. you with your mock spear and wei with his paws, uselessly batting at each other in a play fight. he thought it was ridiculous, really—your thin wings would surely bleed beneath any monster’s claws, better you learn to run away from danger—but had watched. it was harmless fun. you ducked behind the potted bonsai for protection, racing around the trunk and likely making the poor cat dizzy, when a harsh rip echoed into the night. you stopped, looking behind you as the two halves of your ‘mask’ fluttered to the floor, torn by one of the branches of the tree. his only thought was that you weren’t hurt, watching as wei tackled you off the pot and onto the floor, but you squirmed free quickly, floating over to the remains… sadly? wei followed, sniffing the leaves, but you didn’t seem interested in playing anymore. you sat by the leaves for far too long, not even moving when wei curled up beside you.

it was nothing. it was a leaf tied around your head with another’s stem, bound to rot and flake away anyway, but you were sulking the next day. he never thought he’d return to his makeshift room and have you not fly up to him with a cloud of chirps, and he quickly decided he didn’t like it. if you were sad you lost your mask, then he’d just have to get you a new one.

he kicked at the remains of a campfire, stomping out the remaining embers. an abandoned adventurer’s camp of some sort, the air free of any malicious warnings. besides the remains of the campfire were a few stray logs, likely spare firewood. he dug through the measly pile, pulling out a log. there was no rot, water damage, no sign of bugs or anything else that would ruin the wood. without another thought, he tucked it under his arm, turning and vanishing into the wind.

he had left when you were already asleep, so he could go straight to his room, but he made a stop first. yanxiao hardly jumped when he turned from the stove, though he did eye the log in his hands strangely.

“what can i get you?”

“i need to borrow a knife.”

“…” he laughed, propping his hands on the table in front of him, and xiao grit his teeth. an adepti, reduced to this… “what, did you lose your spear?”

“of course i didn’t,” he snapped, “but i’m not foolish enough to think i can use a spear to carve wood.”

yanxiao nodded in understanding, reaching into his pocket for a small flip knife. it was barely as long as one of his fingers, the handle a dark wood. “this should do, i think.” he threw the knife underhand, and xiao caught it with ease. the blade flicked out easily, sharp to the touch. “remember to cut away from you, yeah?”

his grip tightened on the knife, leaving without thanks.

safely in the shadow of his room, xiao finally relaxed. one by one, he removed his guards and charms, quietly setting them in their respective places. you were curled up in your bed as always, none the wiser as he stepped out onto the balcony. he sat facing the moon, setting his mask on the floor beside him. again drawing the small knife, he braced the wood in his lap and began to carve.

yanxiao was many things, but a fool he was not. he had heard from verr about your mask tearing yesterday, about how you sat quietly on xiao’s terrace for the rest of the day in a pout. you were a strange guest, certainly, but you were xiao’s. he kept very limited company, and those he lingered around felt his affections quietly.

when flowers had blown off their tables prior to the reception of an important guest, a mysterious bundle of qingxin had found it’s way onto the reception desk to replace them. when the eccentric xianyun had stopped by for a ‘surprise lunch,’ a small note in familiar writing on his table told him her tastes. when your small, flimsy mask tore in two… well, he couldn’t wait to find out.

he worked as usual, trading guesses with verr as he helped ferry plates back and forth. would he fetch you new leaves in perpetuity? fetch new ones from your home nation of sumeru? find a new toy to distract you? neither of them had ever met a pari before, didn’t know what you wanted or needed to thrive, but they entertained themselves with nonsense speculation nontheless.

xiao showing up in his kitchen without warning was nothing out of the ordinary. yanxiao had learned to pick out the shift in air pressure that signaled his arrival, wiping off his hands and putting the washed vegetables aside. the flat expression on his face was also routine, but the log he held most certainly wasn’t. handcarved offerings weren’t all too uncommon in liyue, especially from an adeptus, but he had a feeling it wasn’t for rex lapis or another adepti.

the next question, of course, was what he would carve. verr suggests a wooden mimic of the leaf mask and he can’t hide the way that makes him laugh, his smile wider than usual as he greets customers.

that night, if you stood just quietly enough beneath the upper balcony and the wind blew the right way, you would hear the quiet scrape of wood and metal. and the next morning, if you were anywhere near the inn, you would likely see a bright pari weaving through the levels, eager to show off their brand new mask carved by the hero of dihua marsh himself.

Didnt take a lot of pictures bc i was distractsd but anyway. I caramelized the onion and garlic, I blended it, made the stew base and added the cabbage in it.

So I made the meatballs earlier, been sitting in the fridge, Im going to fry it now

Okay so since theres a lot of tomatoes in this, its crazy watery, so I'm going to simmer for like 50 years first and then add the balls in,

Ok it's been 30 minutes or so,

Waited another 10 minutes and cool it down a little.

The milk didnt curdle and the spices and herbs makes it taste good, the meat is, as you'd expect for a stew, really tender. My complaint is, he shouldve used coconut milk rather than actual dairy because not only will that pair up better, it wont curdle easily.

Now, the big question is, does it taste good?

Well, tbh I'm not a big tomato girl so my judgement will be biased (i know i know u might wonder why i do it if i dont rlly like it well its bc i do dumb shit sometimes). So, as a control sample, I asked my parents if they like it and they LOVE it, they ate it with rice and eggs, they say it's not spicy enough tho,

For me, it's a solid 7/10.

But, for them, it's a good 8,5/10

In conclusion, it taste really good but only because I made it ahahahahaha and will make it again for my parents if they want.

so the dash is astir with talk of a guy writing age up bakugou porn and im like ok whatever. make a post bitching about it . mutual likes those posts but then the mutual is turning around and being buddy buddy with this guy so i dm the mutual like hey whats going on here . mutual is like "well why dont you talk it out with him hes not as mean as he seems i prommy" and im like sure whatever i can have civil conversation and if it ends with One Less Person writing weirdo porn then i might be able to get into heaven

Papyrus shifted softly in his bed, he buried his face into his pillow, bringing his blankets up to his chin. he snuggled into the warmth as he fell back into a peaceful slumber.

the feeling of a small weight on his feet made him groan awake, he slowly rose, using his arm to lift him gently, he rubbed at his sockets- his eyes adjusting to the dark of his room- thats when he spotted the small body at the end of his bed- the body in question, cast in shadow if not for the tiny light of his eyelights.

papyrus sighed softly as he gave a gentle chuckle, sitting up in bed as he lifted the small body in his arms, close to his chest "sans? what are you doing out of your crib?" he slowly got out of bed and shuffled over to the crib in the corner of his room and gently placed sans back inside. he covered him up with his little blanket, covered in stars "there we go...nice and tucked in.." he yawned softly, sans stared up at him, his eyes wide like dinnerplates, he gave a tiny giggle as he swivled in his blankets "hm? what is it my dear brother?" he gently patted his little baby face "do you want me to read to you?" he smiled cheerfully as he shambled over to his bookshelf, which comprised of mostly comic books, puzzle books and some baby books which he found going through the dump with alphys and undyne.

"ah! heres one!" he smiled and pulled at his chair. he smiled softly "this one is-" he squinted softly before groaning- turning on the lamp on his desk "ah! there we go! now i can read!" small giggles erupted out of the lil babybones as he rocked himself happily, nibbling at his fingers. "ah you silly bones!" he bellied as his shoulders rocked with laughter. "okay- this one is called- fluffy bunny: in space"

an hour went by as papyrus finished the book. He gently put it back on the shelf as he stretched, sleep overwhelming him as he fell back under the spell of warmth.

The next morning papyrus stretched as he yawned, getting out bed, his alarm read *7:30 AM* he nodded as he got dressed, he appointed a soft orange sweater and a pair of soft blue jeans. he tucked his cuffs into his boots as he nodded in the mirror. he brushed his teeth before wandering over to the crib.

the little babybones sound asleep, curled in a little tiny ball under his blankets.

Papyrus gave a tin awe as he gently lifted him into his arms "hey-" he whispered "it's time to wake up" he gently kissed him on the forehead.

the babybones refused, getting a yawn in response, keeping his head burying in papyrus' neck.

papyrus gave a quiet, playful sigh as he got him ready for the day, getting him in clean clothes, a soft blue sweater, tiny shorts and a little baby jacket and his shoes.

they were going to visit toriel in the ruins. he was going to pick up more supplies, he had a rather busy day.

he carefully shook the bottle as he put in the sink to be washed later- sans gave a huff and pouted, papyrus could only watch with an awe "you finished it all! theres nothing left! i promise you'll get some yummy food later" he picked him up, gently whiping off his mouth and heading out the door.

The tall skeleton gently held the knob as he locked it. heading off on his way.

the townspeople watched, some cooed and awed, asking how papyrus was, a few of the mothers from his support group asked if he needed any help, he assured them if he did he'd let them know.

sans babbled happily as he watched the trees go by, he pointed off into the woods- papyrus paused "hmm? whats that?" he turned his attention to the trees, a dash of yellow quickly leaving his vision.

"must be my imagination" he rolled his eyelights as he gently knocked "ms toriel i'm here!" he exclaimed, the ruin doors opened, Toriel smiled graciously as she fixed her dress "ah! hello papyrus! please come inside!" she ushered him in and closed the door.

"how are you doing today? has the morning been treating you okay?" she asked kindly as she headed into the living room "a- yes very, thank you ms toriel." toriel nodded "hows sans been? has he been any trouble as of late?" she pondered curiously, papyrus shook his head "not really, for that i'm grateful- he's been such a dream lately- i just came by for some more supplies if you have any?" toriel paused, she thought for a moment "ll...i really have left is old clothes and some toys- but.."

"you want to save them in case?" she nodded softly, papyrus waved it off "its- snow- problem toriel-" the queen paused, a little caught off guard, she let out a howling laugh "ha! that's a clever one! i'll have to- write it down!" she chuckled "i've been working on one myself wanna hear?" she gave a wide grin, papyrus sighed "i guess i could- humer- you" he grinned just as wide.

toriel laughed harder, she calmed herself down just enough "okay- okay- wh-what does a skeleton use- to tile his roof with?" she covered her mouth, her goaty tail wagging excitedly "what? what does a skeleton tile his roof with?" toriel let go as she snorted "shingles~!" she held onto the table as she laughed "very funny ms toriel" it even earned a laugh from sans.

"i-i'm sorry, i had too." she wiped a tear away from her face as papyrus smiled "well..thank you anyway ms toriel. i'm gonna go see alphys, see if she has anything" he waved goodbye as he left the ruins.

Papyrus trudged through snowdin to get to the ferry "ready to see aunty alphys?" he smiled, sans wiggled in his coat "i'll take that as a yes!"

before i start i wanna say this is NOT a zellis or nickro hate post!!! i think both ships are cute but in my l4d world it's hard to pair them for a couple reasons

when it comes to nick being with ro, or any woman that is, it's hard to see it because he's a misogynistic asshole. he does get better throughout the game and id imagine as time went on in the apocalypse, whether they were officially rescued or got stranded again, the shitty parts of his personality would get better

BUT

it is also his personality. we don't know why he is the dirtbag he is.. could be literally anything. shitty parents/raised badly, trauma, hanging with the wrong crowd, etc

now don't get me wrong, nick isn't solely a douchebag. he obviously has positive, redeeming qualities about himself and he truly does care about the other three survivors. as we all know, humans are not one dimensional, so it's entirely possible for him to do a 180

but when you're in your mid 30s, probably been living rough one way or another your whole life, it would be really fucking hard to break out of those negative attributes

rochelle is too good for that. she does not deserve any kind of mistreatment. i will not argue

THIS ALSO GOES FOR NELLIS TOO THOUGH! any pairing with nick would be toxic one way or another honestly

i just feel like.. it would be different with ellis because he is such a ball of sunshine. you throw anything at him, and it bounces right off. he's so oblivious and in his own world, so sweet and caring-- a genuinely good person. i feel like he would be able to balance nick out and chill out his jerk attitude a bit

ellis is not really confrontational and overall does not have a mean bone in his body. hell, in game when nick said he hated him, he responded with "well, i still like you, nick." and because of this, i feel like he would truly be the first person in nick's entire 35 years of life that showed him genuine love, respect, patience, understanding, etc, which in turn would tug on nick's shriveled heartstrings

this doesn't mean that rochelle isn't sweet and wouldn't have the power to change nick for the better. but even tho she is also a genuinely good person, she doesn't take shit from anyone, especially not nick. many times in the game she steps up to him and puts him in his place. i feel like she could love him platonically/in a family type way, but romantically i don't think she could do it. i think it would just exhaust her and quite frankly piss her the fuck off

now when it comes to zoey and ellis, it would work... for a bit. ellis would most definitely treat zoey like a queen and they would have a healthy, loving relationship. however, zoey's personality is kind of going towards the opposite spectrum of ellis'*. she's a little on the brooding side, slightly awkward, and a little quicker than most to get ticked off. of course she has a sense of humor, is sweet, and does care about others. her and i are actually very much alike, and truthfully i don't think i could date a guy like ellis. even though he's damn near perfect for a man, he has a lot of chaotic energy. when you're someone with a lower energy-type personality*, it gets tiring after a while being around high energy people

zoey would more than likely be a homebody, wanting to watch tv and movies, play video games, etc, whereas ellis is your typical country boy-- fishing, hunting, working on cars, riding horses, drinking, doing dangerous and dumb shit with his boys, etc. i feel like after a while zoey would realize she just can't keep up with him, maybe even after a while he would start to even get on her nerves. i also feel like after a while he would think she was boring.. but in reality, they just don't really have much in common when it comes to their lifestyles

*i know you could kinda consider nick being closer to a lower-energy type personality because when he's not being an ass, he is rather quiet and to himself. BUT theres no such thing as a lazy introverted conman lol

*i also feel like it's easier to tolerate the same sex as you. a man annoying another man, or a woman annoying another woman is one thing, but a man annoying a woman is a whole other story lmfao

We've had our new cats for like two weeks now and. I just wanna tell you about these guys. They're eight months old, they're still kittens. They're brothers and while they look nearly identical they couldn't be more different. They're american longhairs that we think might have some maine coon or norweigan forest cat in them, and like i said, they're still young, they're not done growing yet, and we're expecting them to get Big.

But they're brothers, eight months old, and the first one, Rocha- gentle giant. He's the sweetest. But he's already HUGE. He's sweet but also. I'm laying down in bed and he comes up to splay himself on top of me but in doing so climbs over me and . Hes big. Hes HEAVY. He comes up to bed and i might be asleep and suddenly. Boom! Like 30(its probably more like 20 but still hes Heavy) fucking pounds of cat, the weight all in one paw straight into my spleen and i just kind of die. Worth it though.

Then he sucessefully splays out on top of me while I'm still wheezing and hes like. Pinning me down hes so big. He doesnt loaf he splays and hes on my entire chest and stomach and his tails like past my knees. Hes like three feet long its crazy. Hes like. A whole toddler. He needs his own bed.

Then comes his brother. Maple looks like hed be the sweeter one, hes more confident, he comes right up and greets everyone while Rocha hides for a while around strangers. But no, hes the menace. You cant eat or make food in the room because he will scream and bolt for you and jump on the counter and stick his face in whatever you're doing. I have to put him in the closet while i get his food because he literally wont let me get it out of the can. He acts like hes actively starving to death and when he does get his food he fucking sucks that shit up like a shopvac. Its gone becore you can even stand back up meanwhile Rocha takes his sweet time eating his little plate of beef saute. One second versus several minutes. Also Maple has been DESTROYING all the pillows and stuffed animals in the house, hes like a dog, he doesnt eat the tuffing thank god just bites the ears and limbs and corners off of everything.

Also, unlike his brother, Maple is. Well. Tiny. Like TINY. They're identical in looks aside from their size. Rochas a workout to pick up and you have to hold him like a large baby. Maple I can pick up with one hand and i could easily chuck him like a football. In fact thats exactly how i get him off the counter. I scoop him up with one hand and drop him out of the way even though i know he'll just jump back up ten seconds later. And yknow how Rocha kills me in the process of cuddling and then splays out huge. Well Maple is the sweetest when hes actually not playful or around food. Hes so light i know he wouldnt wake me up even if he climbed all over me. The light of the charismas shines on him, their 'flowers' covering the red rage of his breakdown n showing him tht there's hope n a place 4 him (note: 'crude' in this case possibly being the charismas' crude natures.. lol). He's been abandoned, yes but a better place awaits him where he belongs. It's not the ending he saw 4 himself, but all the same he will b 'screwed over' n neglected n 4gotten no longer.

ohhhhhh man. i am a VERY imagery-focused and description-focused person, so its incredibly hard to pick the "best", but i can pull one i'm really proud of!!

i've accumulated mountains of various advice over the years, but one of my favorites - and something i tell myself frequently - is that everyone has an utterly wretched person inside them, and if you deny that that kind of awful, worst-of-humanity person has potential to exist in you and everyone you love, then you can never bring them to life on the page, yknow? i write a lot of fucked up people and if i denied that theres both good and bad in everyone (simplifying human nature a shitton) then how could i ever write the monster that's just another human? how can i show that every person we label as a monster is another human being just like us, who has favorite animals or colors or songs and has danced with friends as a kid and has aspirations for the future?

anyways thats my advice on writing bad people and some of my favorite writing advice, humanize your monsters. ive got a lot more practical advice but this is what came to me when i saw this question!

OK so basically . the first 10 or so nancy drew books have 2 versions, ones written around 1920-30 (crazy racist, culturally insensitive, antisemetic, u name it), and the revised versions in 1950 (aracial but still containing some dogwhistles). The character of Nancy Drew is old as balls. Because of this, theres a lot of scholarship on how nancy drew changes over time and reflects a liberal mindset. Since she's a character geared towards kids, she can't be too conservative, but since parents (and publishers) are the ones with money, she can't be too crazy leftist.

EARLY in Nancy Drew lore, she was getting into arguments w the police, but always when they were wrong about who nancy decided was the culprit. BECAUSE! Nancy Drew books are structured in a way where instead of following clues to find the culprit of a crime, Nancy usually chooses who the Bad Guy is (usually thru "obvious tells" such as being greedy or looking Sneaky) and Investigates them until they Reveal themselves to be the bad guy. In this way nancy drew reflects a sort of Guilty-Until-Proven-Innocent type of justice, which is a kind of policing.

Her relationship w the police changes in the revised nancy drew books. whenever she gets caught up with police, she just needs to phone her Important Lawyer Dad, and her restrictions disappear... this blatant favoritism In nancy drew Games however, Nancy is usually presented with a cast of characters to get to know and be rude to while solving puzzles and doing chores to collect clues. (You still do some pretty IFFY stuff when it comes to crime investigation, like looking at peoples stuff without a warrant, breaking into places, impersonating government employees, ect). usually getting caught by police is a "bad end" to the game, forcing u to be better at breaking the law. In one game she gets arrested and put in jail but only bc she was falsely accused of arson. In this game, the police are all like "we all know and love you, but our hands are tied" and she's allowed to run around the police station out of her cell to do fingerprint analysis and stuff. so while she and the police are at odds at some points, she is still part of a POLICING Culture where she can be a stand in for The Law . tldr; nancy drew is a cop, but like how modern adaptations of sherlock holmes are cop flavored.

-in the crowd you can see ppl wearing cute duel monster accessories, like one girl had a dark magician girl headband/visor thing! very cute, wish we saw more things like that. in pokemon anime they do that a lot and its always such a delight…I want more duel monster cosplay moments! or references in charas outfits!

-ok yuya being the damsel during gongenzakas duel while yuzu is the one yelling, telling gon not to worry is……furthering my idea that yuzu is main chara and yuya is in the position of side character of different gender than main character (who is often a damsel or person to worry over the most). hes the anzu/kotori of the show. to me. JKJSDH (also, gongenzaka, is perfectly nice and fine but its so hard for me to care deeply about him aaaahg even with the episodes centered around him…hes so straightforward and steady, tho. good for him.)

well one of them is definitely just. ruthie in general. she had far too much power over him + damaged him beyond repair so now he's just stuck with the pieces trying to glue them back together,, every time he thinks about her he's like a terrified little kid all over again. as big and intimidating as he is, she can very easily make him want to curl up in a ball and disappear completely from the world never to be seen again. he's not as brave or as confident as everyone thinks he is and he does NOT want people to know that. losing control of himself is another Big Fear bc there were many moments where he felt like he wasnt even part of his own body when ruthie was there, he was just a bystander who was frozen and couldnt do Anything which is <3 not very nice

he doesnt need to sleep so he doesnt really get up he's just On His Bullshit 24/7. but on the rare occasion he DOES sleep, it takes him a million years to Wake Up and Get Out Of Bed. and by that point it's probably 1pm and he doesnt know who he is or where he is. good luck trying to make him wake up early it wont happen <3

he doesn't want people to think less of him because he's kind of shy and very much Struggles to hold conversationd with people sometimes. yes he has a lot of self-confidence but he also worries Far Too Much about first impressions and other people's opinions about him. we love a walking contradiction <3 idk if this is even much of a fear but this is the only thing i can think of qjhfeghg. also public speaking. he can talk to a camera but put him in front of hundreds of people?? he will disolve right then and there thats TOO many people all at once

not necessarily his pets bc they're lou and morgan's but he lives with them. so theyre basically his too. butterbean and barry are the cats. and they also have a lizard called walter. i KNOW their names have changed a lot over time but this is it now ive decided. im stamping it im sending it off theres no going back now. also he would like a small dog of some sort one day perhaps

he wakes up around 8-8:30 he is a very Up and Go person he hates being in bed for longer than he has to be. earlier is good but any later and he feels like his whole day has been thrown off
