Let another WIP Wednesday commence!

First off, Alex finished the new song! I know I’ve said this before, but that wraps up the soundtrack and I mean it this time. We are going through the game programming in the final song. Alex is also seeing if she likes the music I picked for certain scenes.

Ross is working on the History menu, which is our final hurdle with the GUI (the extras menu and unlockables have all been working wonderfully thanks to him, no beta tester complaints)! Though one thing I was made aware of, the game seems to have held onto everyone’s old demo files from years ago. Because God works in mysterious ways and so does Ren’py. I feel a bit cautious of this fact. If your demo save files do carry over, they might not be playable since they’re so outdated, and might crash randomly. That’s usually what would happen when I tried playing old save files, but I’m waiting for my beta testers to confirm this with me. One has said she was able to play hers all the way through to an ending. So maybe it’s not so bad? Even so, I want ya’ll to be aware the first 4 days of the game have had new scenes, glossary cards, voice clips, etc. added so you risk missing that if you use an old save file. Your call though!

I just don’t want you guys to be like the Capitol children who recognize your old demo file parachutes and eagerly reach out to them only for them to blow up in your face. The Hunger Games is on Netflix btw.

Lastly, I have been doing a number of things. Made two new glossary cards (crab-stepping and section leader!), boosted some sound clips + the credits, and fixed some errors/typos. Eventually you reach a point having played the game so many times, your mind fills in the words and you become blind to typos. So I’m reliant on my beta testers at this point to notice anything I missed.

Identity Porn

How  likely am I to write it: Identity porn isn’t really a narrative kink  for me, so I wouldn’t go out of my way to put it into anything, if it didn't come up naturally. Or if it would be funny.

What characters/ships/fandoms would I write it for: I don’t  really have a lot of fandom I could do identity porn for, too, so that's the next problem I have. RoL doesn't go for it much, and neither do TMA or Witcher or SGA. In the MCU/marvel comics I'm kind of only invested in Characters that just superhero under their legal name, zero fucks given in all canons I'm aware of, so oops there. Hannibal, maybe? Hannibal might work. Altho I prefere season 2 era, with everyone vague degrees of aware of each other's bs and scheming like petty murder divas.

Friends to enemies to lovers

How  likely am I to write it: Very unlikely. I think the only thing with this dynamic I like is Hannibal, as in, both Hannigram and Clannibal and Clannigram, but I don't think I'd really seek it out in fic or write it. I don't even know why, I should be into The Drama Of It All, but I'm just not.

What characters/ships/fandoms would I write it for: Like I said, Hannigram/Clannibal/Clannigram, if it's something that retells an arc. I don't really do Ironstrange, but enemies to lovers or friends to enemies to lovers might be the only way I would, probably. They just don't get along in canon, and I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why people ship it so much. Also why is their Doc always ooc. Enough moaning, I'll stop, I'll stop. Have fun ya'll, but stop the goddamn cross/mass-tagging. There shouldn't be that much Ironstrange in the gen tag, ya hear me?

hurt/comfort

How  likely am I to write it: VERY LIKELY. Hmmmmmm give me that good hurt/comfort.

What characters/ships/fandoms would I write it for: Basically everything, lol. All my faves are idiots who need to be shipped with therapy and tortured with hugs. The Bev & Thomas fic is very hurt comfort-y, as is the Nonromantic-Soulmates WIP. Yes I know I never finish anything, shhhh. There's also an unfinished Strangewong fic in my drafts that's technically sick!fic (I MEAN ... what else lmao) and involves cuddling and soup and being sad about Endgame, so. Which, btw, is THE ONLY reason I will ever acknowledge that dumbassery masquerading as plot. To mine it for FRIDGE HORROR *evil laughter*. And then hand out soup.

coffeeshop au

How  likely am I to write it: Relatively unlikely? I don't really do fluff without plot (and I'm down with emotions as plot or snapshots that reveal something halway and sideways), and incidentally the only version of this trope I ever started would need a Graphic Violence tag lol. (If it wasn't LANGUISHING IN MY DRAFTS.) So I think I might be doing this trope wrong. Also doesn't help that I have experience manning a beer-counter / drink station, so I fall hard in the camp of 'that's an awful place for cute/fluffy shenanigans, have ya'll ever worked customer service lol'-camp. I see the appeal, but I also ... don't.

What characters/ships/fandoms would I write it for: Like I said, the only one I ever started was low-key a joke, because I don't do the trope and the fandom didn't have (and still doesn't have) one, and also because, you know. Graphic violence.

Have the first four or so paragraphs of the very unfinished RoL Demi-Monde Coffeeshop ... pre-canon canon divergence. Is there even a tag for that kinda thing? Anyways. I think the best part about this is getting to write a snotty totally-an-adult!!!-Peter who has zero respect for anything and thinks Thomas is the most ridiculous person he ever met. No graphic violence yet, only canon-typical ableist language.

There’s a lot of reasons people hate working in customer service; The bad pay, the atrocious hours, the customers, the service.

I did about two year of it, first on-and-off positions in some retail shops around where I grew up, punctuated by getting dragged along to my mother’s cleaning gigs, and then later, about a year in a not-actually-fancy Coffee House near Russell Square. And I figured afterwards my stint in customer service and retail had, at the very least, taught my younger self some much needed humility and compassion.

I’m kidding, of course. It just confirmed the suspicions I held towards my fellow humans. Especially the kind that start magic duels in public.

Now, I worked in a Coffee House, not a coffeshop, which meant Management got to price everything even more ridiculous then the rest of the world, we played wannabe-jazz elevator music instead of pop and our clientele wasn’t weird and crazy but more slightly bizarre and very deranged.

Like that one vaguely East-European guy who thought combining windowpane and paisley was a grand idea and who we – that’s the staff – did certainly not call Dracula, or the posh black lady who came to pick up her coffee before heading into the City every morning, except for that one time when, I swear on my dad’s record collection, she was wearing a diving suit under her costume, and of course Mister Stranger-Danger, who was the reason younger cousins didn’t get to do their homework behind the counter any more.

Of course we got your everyday stroll-by white girls and hipsters, but our regulars where, as far as I could tell, decidedly posh, but mostly not yet fully upper class, and also completely batshit looney, is what I’m saying. No offence to actual crazy people, because they certainly don’t dress that badly.

That’s why I didn’t even bat an eyelash when one day someone walked into the shop who was either a time-travelling noir-spy or a runaway extra from Downton Abbey.

He was a white guy, in that inexplicable past-40 age range where I can’t tell their age for the life of me, with a side sweep that must have been held in place with actual pomade, and dressed in one of those sleek looking, old suits with the broad, deep lapels and incredible narrow waists. To round off the impression that he’d come over, lean homoerotically close and tell me the name of the Kraut’s informant any moment now, he’d draped a Burberry over his arm and lugged an actual, honest to god walking cane around the city. It seemed impractical to me, but who am I to judge people’s fashion choices; I’m only the barista.

He also had that stiff demeanour about him, which I’d taken as a sign of something shifty going on anywhere else. Here, in seven out of ten cases, and even more with posh dudes, it meant that he longed to order something utterly ridiculous, with a long name, six ingredient and maybe some speculoos dust uptop, but didn’t have the courage too. Honestly, the way grown men start acting once there’s pumpkin spice on the menu is hilarious – you’d think we’re selling sex toys under the table.

GOT7 anniversary oneshot. Most of you already know that Jinyoung won (like that was going to be a surprise, ya’ll always want more JY content lol) from my IG stories. I won’t give away the rest but here’s a snippet:

You watched Jinyoung until your cheeks were burning with embarrassment, wondering why you had even listened to Jaebum in the first place. Jinyoung hadn’t reacted how you expected him to and you felt increasingly uncomfortable.

And just when you thought he was going to ignore you entirely, his head snapped up, a smile that you had never seen cross his face before now greeting you. You didn’t have enough time to examine it as his next words distracted you. “I didn’t know we were that close to share personal details like that, Y/N.” 

“Oh, well uh-”

Jinyoung scraped back his chair, still smiling yet the force of shutting his laptop conflicted the cheerful gesture he exhibited on his lips. “I’m done studying today, you can have the rest of the time to yourself.”

You watched him leave and it hit you then, the fakeness of his response. His eyes had said otherwise. 

He very much so cared. 

Jinyoung was bitter from your announcement. And instead of giving you immediate relief, his reaction only troubled you further.

Why did you feel like you had broken him? 

Jaebum Birthday oneshot. This is for a dear friend of mine who wrote something for my birthday. Now it’s my turn to return the favour. It’s also a story I’ve been dying to write for some time.

“Jaebum,” you warned as he stared at you, his eyes falling captive to soaking you in.

Just as he had done as a child, his own habit of getting lost staring at you hadn’t changed once. He could do this all day long. In fact, his grades last year had suffered from his inability to stop staring at you.

You let out a huff of air. “Jaebum, you’re doing it again.”

“Does it bother you?” he murmured and you blinked a couple of times, chewing on your lip in thought. He leaned in closer and for a moment, he actually thought your bodies might brush up against each other with the close proximity he now held. It made him anxious, as if every cell within his body was on high alert. Jaebum never knew why he was so fascinated with the idea of being the first person you reached out for, but it was a goal all the same. He yearned to hold your hand and let you know it was safe to do so.

Kyungsoo royal au oneshot: I have so little written on this that there is no point sharing yet! But it was meant to be written in June and obviously has been put on hold.

Chosen Idol Anniversary oneshot: I have the idea ready to go for this, just going to finish the GOT7 one first.

Mino series: I don’t want to give too many ideas away but I’m really excited for this one. Just imagine a lot of travelling, family issues and a good surprise in the end after some angst LOL.

Honestly there are SO MANY MORE ideas just waiting for me to share with you all but I’ll keep them under wraps for now. This seems more than enough to hype you up hopefully! Xxx

I don’t know? I mean, I mostly write fic for myself, to give a form to ideas that are in my head. Following this line of reasoning, all my fic are self-indulgent. sometimes when you remove doubles from the entire mesh, it makes weird shadows (you can see them in solid mode) that are super dark. Edge splitting gets rid of them without causing a seam to show in the mesh

Ya’ll know what time it is. It’s “Let’s talk about something *very unhappy noises*” tiiiime.YAYYYYY!!

So apprently there are some leaks about the new killer’s powers on reddit. This could be a hoax and that’s very likely because, for my part, there are many many things so unclear with this describtion.

But I still want to talk about it because if the final thing’s gonna be similar to this, I will definitely lose it. And to not start this all on a negative side, I’ll start with the good things first:

So the Devs gonna use an apprentice of the man we originally thought would be used as a killer. Which is very good, because now the new killer actually fits the gameplay and their role of an active killer instead of an originally really passive and already dead one.

It’s gonna be a female killer. And many many many of us wanted over all more female killers again.

The new “game mechanic” and “ability” brings in a new type of fear and nervosity for Survivors. And since I’m a fan of the tension this game creates. That’s a plus.

And that’s it.

Now to the more critisizable part, yaaaa.

So Idk, another Trapper character? We have a Trapper already. It’s the same point we had with Leatherface. Yes, he is no Hillbilly copy, because Hillbilly is actually based on Leatherface. But in this case Leatherface felt like a Hillbilly copy, since Hillbilly was in DBD first. So now another character who uses similar gadget like another killer who is already in game, feels still uncreative. And I swear, if some of the add ons are the same as Trappers... (very unlikely tho due to the new traps function WHICH BRINGS US TO THE NEXT AND MAIN POINT).

The function of the traps. If I look at the describtion, it’s what mostly let me say: “Ok. This can’t be real.” Because it’s so vague! It’s very hard to read but the list says:

Start the trial with 4 Reverse Bear Traps:

“Reverse Bear Traps are put on Dying Survivors.” “RBTs automatically sacrifice the survivor when they trigger.” “RBTs trigger automatically beyond the exit gates.” (see where this is going?) “RBTs trigger once their timers expire.” “RBTs timer start when a generator is completed” “Survivors can free themselves from RBTs by searching Jigsaw Boxes found around the map to find the correct key.”

So there will be one trap per survivor. That’s good. Means that the killer can’t just put seemingly infinite traps on the survivor’s head.They can only be put on survivors on dying state. When you got one of these on you there’s a timer that should go down as soon as a generator, so apparently, ONE, is completed. So it keeps Survivors away from doing gens, gives the Killer more time to do their work. Good. New difficulty. New challenge. Good. The Trap triggers when the timer’s on zero, and will, and that’s the part where we lose us here, sacrifice the Survivor automatically.

*short silence*

I could be now saying “That’s not how it works.”, could be all whiny, and fixate myself on the lore in which the Entity is only, and ONLY fed through the hooks. And not even killing a Survivor by your own hand brings the same delight to the Entity than sacrificing them on the hook. But I will contain myself and see it positively. Maybe we get a new sacrificing animation. Maybe there is new canon lore. I mean it’s also a new game mechanic after all. Maybe it’s just fake, what’s very likely to assume.

Maybe...

But it still seems a lil too drastic to me. I mean, why hooking, why mori when you can “almost mori” survivors without hooking them and you still get the same effect as hooking them which is part of the main difficulty as a killer because there are Survivors who free them and then you have to get them again... you get me here?

Also how long is the timer going? How much time do you have before you get instant game over? Noone knows. (Another point against this being real tbh.)

The Survivor though can free themselfes from the Trap by finding a so called “Jigsaw Box” which inherits a key to their Trap. That’s good. There should be always a way out. Although they must find the RIGHT KEY out of FOUR keys, which are SOMEWHERE on the map. Even finding a friggin hex totem is difficult sometimes! Well let’s hope the timer goes long enough.

And the last part is the one that bugs me the most. When the exit gates are open, and let’s say your timer goes still for 2 minutes and you’re hurt, it was a long and hard match after all. You already see yourself free and happy. Yay, 5000 points for escaping! This is so great! I still made it! Barely, but I did it! And you exit and die. Oh no wait, you don’t die. You’ll be sacificed. Because the Trap triggers automatically beyond the exit gates. So technicall goodbye exit points. Well earned or not.

I’ll find that too much. We already have perks that shut out the survivors from their freedom in multiple ways and you can just snack them away if you can. But now you can totally forget the prior licensed Killer expanson. Because you got the new one. So better let those lil buggos escape, because they die either way, am I right? After this and Freddies nerf (which I ,wuaht??, didn’t find so terrible and unfair as everyone else but never mind) we can totally smack Gremlin Man in the trash. Just a few months after he was released. NICE. (sarcasm)

No Terror radius. Wow, sounds familiar. Almost like the Wraith, and Michael Myers (1m TR aside), and Freddy. *gives a look*

This abilty must have a cooldown, or something that gives the killer a disadvantage. Cause you could just sneak upon everyone, and then later on get into the trap action. So maybe something like being slowed down like Myers. Something like that! And why does this killer need a secondary power, when their primary already seems... effective enough? Just... ehhh?? It’s so vague?

Let’s construct a match based on this info. Let’s say worst case. Mostly, one gen is already done when the killer finds a Survivor. The Killer sneaks up on them, downs them, puts a trap on them and baits them. I mean Borrowed Time won’t work here, am I right? Or they let them go, put more Traps on other Survivors during the match and, if the Killer can see the aura of the Jigsaw Boxes like with totems, just defends the Boxes. Something like that, who knows. That’s just worst case.

That being said. It’s very possible that it’s a hoax, that it’s not real or maybe even just a WIP. So far, from what I saw, the only thing people talk about is “There is a typo in this, so it MUST BE A HOAX”. Not about the vagueness or the fact that this seems really unbalanced. Plus we don’t even have release date. So I’ll just wait until the DLC is out. Maybe it’s gonna be totally different, maybe not. Maybe it’s even gonna be awesome and our fear unsubstantiated. I would be totally happy about that despite being sad about getting no original killer.

But what do you think about this? Do you think this is good. Do you think it’s balanced. Do you want it like that in the final DLC or would you be happier about an original killer with different abilities?

So, after talkin with @ebonystar about my brain being a douche nozzle and my terror over posting a fic overriding most of my bravery (*points* Ya’ll saw it), I’ve decided Imma explain the AU my fic is based in FIRST then go from there, if my terror doesn’t override me first. It’s One Piece, it’s highly self-indulgant with my shippings, and it’s a wild read from start to finish because when I write using my mobile notepad my stories are confusing messes. Ready? Here we go, I guess!

It’s called Card Royals. Hear me out.

I basically got inspiration for it from the Tarrot Gods AU that @justm3h made (GO PAY ATTENTION TO THEM, THEY MAKE REALLY GREAT ART AND THEIR TARROT GODS AU IS BEAUTIFUL AND TEARING HOLES IN MY HEART… MOSTLY GOOD HOLES!! PLEASE IGNORE MY GUSHING IT’S EMBERASSING, PLZ IGNORE ME LMFAO 😂😂). In short, there’s BASICALLY a walking, talking deck of cards out there on the seas. Stress filled generational thing and what not…. I guess…

Okay okay so like uhhh… god I am so bad at this.

We of course, have the four suits, each with a king and a queen, and ten underlings. There ARE three Jokers as well, cuz once every like 300-400 years the deck no longer respresents a standardized deck and an extra Joker is crowned, they are the antagonists of the AU, and are all absolute ASSHOLES, I KNOW EXACTLY WHO THEY FUCKING ARE!

The Jokers are ALWAYS assholes. It’s written history, there’s a big book. Absolute chaos. They are controlling asshats who want to capture the Card Royals and use their abilities/powers/magic/whatever to meld the world in their image. They’re insane. No I’m not saying who they are.

Card Royals can always tell each other apart from normal people. Their eyes are one way, as their pupils are shaped like the suit they represent. The royals of Diamonds have diamond shaped pupils. The royals of Hearts have heart shaped pupils. So on and so forth. Each Card Royal is also identified by a locket. Kings have their suit and a kingly crown, and Queens have their suit and a crown more fit for a queen. Normal people have a very hard time noticing these differences, it’s nearly impossible to notice it unless you know what you are looking for, which no one EVER does. The Card Royals are nothing but tall tales told children as a bed time story.

Later on in the AU, in the eyes of the normal populous, the Diamonds, Hearts, and Spades sided with evil (Pirates), while Clubs sided with good (Marines).

But a Joker is in control of the so called “Good Side”. And the Clubs REFUSE to be controlled. They represent justice, true justice, MORAL JUSTICE, and won’t bend to the Joker’s whims. That and the Queen of Hearts is the Queen of Club’s best friend.

Eat your heart out, Joker bitch.

Anyway, when I said that the titles are generational I’m like pretty wrong about that. There is never a period of time when the world is without a royal from a specific suit.

How do I explain this… uhh…

Well, for example, when one royal from a suit dies/is killed/whatever, the rest of the suit has their titles revoked and the suit is reset. None of the suits are the same age. In my AU, the current Diamond Royals are the oldest of the other eight royals, and the Club Royals are the youngest. After the first Card Royals, there WAS a set of royals that were all the same age, but that was first recorded in the BIG BOOK OF CARD HISTORY (it’s not actually called that, IDK what it’s called but it exists and it’s fuckin magical) eighteen years after the World Government formed. That was also recorded in the book. The book knows all.

Again, this AU is terrifyingly self indulgent. Like, I swear.

While I can’t say much on who the royals are, I will say this: Ace is the King of Spades.

For reasons.

I was originally going to make him the Ace of Spades because that would have been HILARIOUS but decided against it.

The Royals both have what is basiaclly an advisor. The Queen’s is their Ace and the King’s is their Ten.

That one is still a work in progress though but the Ace and Queen thing is set in stone…

Like, the higher ups in the World Government (Vice Admiral and up) know the Card Royals exist. And Sengoku only knows who three of them are.

No Sengoku is not a Joker. I bet you all know who one of ‘em is. I BET YOU DO THERE WAS A PRETTY BIG HINT A LIL WAYS BACK.

“SO, THEIR POWERS” I HEAR YOU ASK, “YOU SAID THAT THE JOKERS WANT TO USE THEM TO MOLD THE WORLD IN THEIR IMAGE SO THAT MEANS THEY HAVE POWERS!”

Hold ya horses I’m gettin there.

The Card Royals all have powers that depend upon their Suits. Diamonds are aligned with courage and the earth. Therefore, they are basically earth benders. Hearts are aligned with water, love (OBVIOUSLY), and the energy of life. They are basically water benders. See where this is goin? Spades are aligned with air and action/war/vigilance/whatever and the energy of death. Clubs align with fire and darkness. I’m still tryin to figure the darkness bit out completely, that one’s got me kerbobbled. I’m also trying to figure out what energies the Diamonds and the Clubs align with. It’s aaaalllll one big work in progress.

Basically, if a Joker can capture and force the suits to pool together their power over energies, the Joker can use that to change the world as they see fit. But at the cost of the lives of the Royals and the Jokers own titles. Each generation of Joker wants to change the world this way. There are rarely any outliers. The only one that was an outlier didn’t get to live long. The title Joker will get what it wants eventually, even if it has to kill off it’s own bearers.

Still with me?? Good!

At least once in each royal’s lifetime, there is a meeting. Each suit is expected to attend. Remember the Book?? Yeah it decides the date and location of the meeting and somehow gets the details to each royal like six years in advance. The book is magic and sentient guys don’t judge it.

During the story, the meeting is to happen in three years, and each royal HAS to make it to the meeting place without being caught by any of the Jokers, as each Joker has a specific royal(s) they have targeted. Lotsa stress guys, lotsa stress.

Honestly, like 80% of it is all a WiP. But I’m high key proud of it. It’s my bby. I even doodled a logo, but that’s a WiP too. It’s cute tho. Gotta find a pic of that soon.

8. How did you getinvolved in your latest fandom?Uhh so last…November? I was in a chat with some friends during NaNoWriMo andsomebody’s husband was playing the game, so the rest of us were basicallymaking fun of it while she gave us a play-by-play or something. And then @rhymeswithpistarted playing and making elaborateheadcanons and I wrote DroveThrough Ghosts to Get Here to make them happy, then eventually decided Ishould maybe play the game I waswriting fic for and, uh, I haven’t escaped since.
