The scratch of the nail file against the acrylics on his own hand were soft, articulate and filled with precision. friday, march 3rd, 2023. 4.55pm   ─ at nana's kitchen, open to everyone.

        THE EXTERIOR OF THIS FIFTIES DINER IS HOMEY AND QUAINT ; inside, one is going to be welcomed by the warm atmosphere. The tone of the cafe gives the guest a very calming and comfortable feeling with different blends of brown and tan, paired with bright red and sparkly retro chairs gives a very southern feel to it. Its walls are covered in vintage paintings and old ─ town pictures that add a very family ─ like environment which is the perfect blend for Kiraz to bring Serkan. The both of them love coming to Nana's Kitchen. They ended up loving this little diner so much that they ended up incorporating eating at the diner into their schedule. For the past five years every Friday after picking up Serkan from school, the mother and son due have indulged themselves in the diner's food that allows its guests to feel right at home.

And, maybe, a little too comfortable. ❛ Serkan, really? ❜ A sigh of defeat escapes from the mother's lips as she watches her child take the biggest mouthful he could shovel into his mouth causing a mess both on the plate and his face. ❛ Sorry to bug you, ❜ Kiraz begins while turning to the person who is occupying a nearby table. ❛ Do you have any extra napkins over there? I did have an abundance over here. Ryder’s life had never been full of love and respect. In fact, a lot of it was him spending many nights alone. He didn’t know his family, didn’t really have one that he could call a family in general. He has vague memories of his parents, probably from when he was still a toddler who couldn’t talk. From what he knows, his parents died from some disease or a fire. He wasn’t taken in by anyone loving, only workhouses that needed an extra hand. After being kicked out of the workhouses since he kept getting fired, he lived out on the street. That was at age seven. 

A lot of his youth was spent doing odd jobs and giving people the paper. He used to steal food so he could eat, living in barns amongst animals. The warmest hug he ever felt was from a cow who he’d sleep next to on a pile of hay. She’d lick his hair and curl around him like she would her own calves. This was the warmest experience he’d ever had in his life thus far. The fact that animals showed him more comfort and reprise than humans did had been the biggest answer to his life’s question: why him? Animals had more compassion than his own species. He didn’t belong among humans, that was something he could easily live with.

He grew up into the Edwardian era, becoming a rather big opium user and drunk to the point he had to work in bathhouses. Though, one night, he had an overdose which he was in public dying from. His Sire, who had seen him working the streets for awhile, decided that it was best to save this young man’s life. He was too beautiful to let rot in the ground, even if that seemed morbid to Ryder. Once he was turned, though, he promised to not indulge in his addiction again. So, during the time he was in New York, he got into dressing in drag, which made him feel far better about himself than anything else had before. He didn’t need drugs, not anymore.

Of course, though, life could only be so blissful. When his Sire died after hunters had found their home, Ryder saw red. Indulging on all of that blood at his disposal had not been good on his recovering addiction. In fact, it made the whole situation so much harder for him to keep his promise to his now deceased Sire. Through his grief, he started to give into drugs again, especially more modern ones that had a harder habit to kick.

During this whole binge, he met someone who had been pretty awful for him. But Ryder, he was desperate for someone to care, and this person was easily able to manipulate Ryder. What they didn’t expect was for Ryder’s own addiction to influence a whole other part of his mental state. It took everything in their own power to keep Ryder from actually going on a rampage. It was powerful, something they found appealing in the highest form of compliment. But, truthfully, they wanted to keep it for themselves. Ryder didn’t know this, of course, because he was usually too drugged up to know what the man was up to.

One night, though, Ryder and him were out. Both of them drugged and drunk out of their minds to the point that Ryder needed to feed. In a drugged up haze, his lover tackled him against the wall and started to fondle the unwilling Ryder. Sure, he wasn’t fighting back, but he didn’t want it. They finally had enough when the man got his face against the wall. Fighting back with as much rage as he felt inside, he tore the man apart and shook as he came out of his drugged up haze. He thought he just killed him out of cold blood, but that wasn’t the case. Ryder couldn't see the difference, though, as he only remembers part of what happened.

Instead of hiding anything, he took off as fast as he could and came across Everwood in his travels West. He'd heard about this place from many people in other supernatural safe havens and figured this was the place he could finally reset himself. Having cleaned himself up, they found himself enjoying the nightlife and joining the Everwood Clan as he was still a bit on the run. With great gratitude, Ryder has become loyal to their kind.
