“You need to see this.“ Shallura, modern/post not!canon-ish. Shiro and Matt are roommates and Allura is his lovely Altean girfriend and Shiro loves Steven Universe, shhhh don’t worry about it.

“Shiro! Come here, you need to see this!” he hears Allura shout from the den.

Shiro pauses the message he was typing out on his data pad.

“… How many legs does it have?”

“It’s not a–that was one time! Come here!”

“I’m serious Allura, how many legs?”

“How was I supposed to know you had acrobatopia?”

Shiro holds down a laugh, saving his document. He picks his robe off the chair and slides into his house slippers.

“I do not have arachnophobia, stop listening to Matt’s lies,” Shiro says as he shuffles into the doorway. “But seriously, how many legs?”

Allura rolls her eyes. “Two, it’s me, Shiro. I want to show you something!” She waves him over to the couch, he sits down carefully.

“Okay, I’m here.”

“I was watching the show on the television, and I had an amazing idea!”

“The show?”

“Yes, the show that you like.”

“Can you be more specific?”

“The one where there’s all the colors and the songs?”

“… That narrows it down, yeah.”

“Fine, I won’t show you anything ever again,” Allura huffs, picking up her ukulele from the table.

“Were you going to sing for me?”

“Yes but you’re being an ungrateful sarcastic grump, so I’m afraid I’ve lost my motivation.” She turns away, nose in the air.

Shiro raises an eyebrow. “Allura… Princess…”

One violet-pink-blue eye opens and looks his way.

Shiro pulls down the side of his robe, exposing his left pectoral. "Eh?“

“You’re ridiculous.”

“Woah-oh… I think my other sleeve might be slipping…”

Allura grins, and props the instrument up on her chest, strums a few familiar chords and sings:

“All I wanna do, is see you turn into… A giant woman, a giant woman! All I wanna be, is someone who gets to see, a giant woman!”

Shiro smiles as he watches her start to slightly grow as the song progresses.

“Okay, this was worth a wardrobe malfunction or two.”

Allura’s head nearly bumps the ceiling when she’s finished. Shiro claps and she carefully bows.

“Wait… you can play that?” he gestures to the instrument, now dwarfed in her giant hands.

“What, is it not played on this? Did I mis-hear the sounds? Should I have used the thing with the black and white buttons?” she gestures to the keyboard in the corner.

“No, it’s played on that, I just don’t remember you having one.”

“It’s Matt’s.”

“He taught you?”

“I taught me.”

Shiro laughs. “Allura! You can play music by ear!" 

"What, like it’s hard?” Allura scrunches her nose. “Takashi Shirogane. I am a giant woman, I think you’re overlooking what’s important here.”

Shiro opens and closes his mouth a few times. “You… you’ve got me there.”

“Finally!” Allura puts down the ukulele and scoops up Shiro in her giant arms. “I was going to put so many spiders in your room if you didn’t come to your senses!”

Shiro wraps his arms around her neck as she carries him back to their bedroom. “Wait… where would you get spiders?”

Allura blinks. “Certainly not from Matthew, who does not have a bunch of pet fluffy ones hidden in his bedroom.”

“… He told me the heat lamps were for growing plants. I just assumed he was secretly growing weed or something, am I living in a house full of tarantulas?!”

“And a giant woman! And maybe a snake or two.”

Shiro pinches the bridge of his nose. “Okay. One thing at a time. First, giant woman. Then, we plan the murder of Matt Holt.”

Allura laughs and ducks her head to enter their bedroom.

Hhhhh I love Keith and Lance for different reasons–Lance is a lot more my chaotic ADHD internal monologue, but Keith in terms of personality is a lot more like mine. I think if u made me choose though, I’d probably pick Keith

The next few days were both agonizingly slow and a whirlwind. Keith kept texting Lance live updates of his “family bonding time” with Shiro, which apparently consisted of a day of shopping, filming an Instagram video for Shiro’s account, and calling their parents.

Lance spent the long minutes waiting for Keith to respond panicking, worried that he’d pushed too far or something, but when his phone screen lit up once more with a photo notification, he breathed a sigh of relief.

That is, until he opened the message and nearly died of a stroke.

Lance was no stranger to the art of the mirror selfie, but he had to admit that Keith might very well have him beat. There in the photo, framed in by the edges of the mirror, was Keith flaunting his own crop top, the words 2 GAY 2 FUNCTION in bold across his chest, and a tantalizing strip of skin peeking out above the waistline of his shorts. Lance wasn’t sure how long he sat there staring at his phone, but when a new notification flashed at the top of his screen he already knew it had been too long.

Lance flipped his phone over next to his textbook, resting his way too hot cheek on a fist before trying and failing to pick-up with the paragraph he had left off with. Sighing, he flipped his phone back over, swiping into his message app, and tapping on The Photo. His eyes raked over the image, taking in the slight tilt to Keith’s hips and how they accentuated the little sliver of his abs just so, the cocky smirk on his face, even the lazy peace sign he was flashing his own reflection.

Didn’t take photos of people, my ass, Lance thought. Whatever Keith’s reasoning was for that, it certainly wasn’t for lack of skill. The boy knew how to capture all the right angles.

Well, two people could play at that game.

He shoved back from his desk and marched over to mirror hanging on his closet door. He wasn’t wearing anything particularly special, just an old pair of slightly-too-small volleyball shorts and a sleeveless hoodie, but he had enough ego to admit that he looked good.

He snapped a few pictures, adjusted the lights, and snapped a few more, before he chose one and sent it off with a, just repaying the favor.

He sat back at his desk, putting his phone face down and returning to his textbook, pretending he wasn’t reading the same sentence over and over again.

His phone buzzed and Lance snatched it up at a speed that most people would find embarrassing. What he found, though, wasn’t a text from Keith but from Shiro.

fandom asks 1, 14, 24

1: favorite fic you wrote this year? - (according to ao3 i wrote 25 fics this year which is just…wild so um…this is hard to choose) I guess its probably either Get Some, or maybe To Welcome You Home? I had a blast writing Get Some (even this last chapter that is driving me crazy) but I’m also so weak to family fluff ¯\_(ツ)_/¯…but uh…this was harder than I thought it would be

14: a fic you didn’t expect to write? - um any of the prompts i got from @lesbianakari were a surprise honestly but especially the shlav ones…those definitely were not fics i ever would have written on my own and i still can’t totally believe i wrote them lol

24: favorite fic you read this year? - this is so hard to pick! i read way too much fanfiction to remember this! um I dont think i can name a singular favorite but a singular favorite from my main fandoms rn:

just come to me once by laallomri (voltron, klance, T) which i just realized is now updated/complete so i need to go finish that asap bc it was exactly the post s6 voltron i needed. the klance is so soft and good but there is also some actual development for keith and krolia that we were totally skimped on in canon and their travels in space were far more what i expected b4 they go to earth than what we actually got 

journey to the past by aloneintherain (bnha, class 1-a feels, T) makes my heart feel so warm and full even in the more heartbreaking moments like izuku’s friends being “imaginary” bc they! all! love! him! so! much! (and this is cheating bc this is abt a whole series and journey isnt even a part of it, but aloneintherain’s entire see it all in bloom (T) series is iconic and what i consider post-canon now until proven or convinced otherwise)

And like the cycle of the year, we begin again by katherynefromphilly (bbc merlin, merthur, M) this was such a good conclusion for the series set in modern day with amazing OCs and it felt so much like a story of its own i wanted to print it out and curl up with it like it was a real book

and last but not least

The Chronicles of the Virgin Asahi by Ellessey (haikyuu!!, asanoya, E) my hq obsession comes and goes and my latest bout of it struck about a month ago and ive just been scouring ao3 for daisuga fics i hadn’t read yet or rereading old favorites when i stumbled upon ellessey’s work and read 90% of it in like a week and reminded myself in the process how much i love other ships in hq as well (but chronicles also has some adorable daisuga and the family dynamic between daichi suga and asahi is my favorite thing in the whole world the 3rd years are my absolute favorites from the original series and they had such a good dynamic here with such wonderful writing it was literally a blessing to stumble upon this fic)

….i have so many more i actually still want to talk abt but i am restraining myself for the sake of this ask and bc i have other things i need to be doing lol
