This is for all the fic writers/ younger writers who think their works aren't good enough to be taken seriously or to be published someday.
The number of boomers who have nothing better to do at 70 or 80 and think they're The Shit and decide to publish autobiographies, walk around with their elementary school grammar thinking they're some writing gurus, can't properly space out paragraphs, form sentences like they swallowed a fistful of commas and spat them all over the document, abuse of the bold and italics like their lives depend on it, have zero understanding of properly putting spaces after punctuation marks, is absurd.
So please make yourself some tea and give yourself a pat on the back for honesty being a better writer than the vast majority of boomers with an ego the size of Jupiter who publish their bullshit.

ok so!!!
my sibling, having finished mdzs, started reading tgcf and
they found this epic quote
"He really wanted to hang a sign on his back saying, ‘Ascension is not as good as collecting scraps’ and promote it in the mortal world."
about xl
and in my opinion
he deserves it.

you can say anything you want about Ben Platt. you can say anything about the "upcoming" Merrily we roll along movie we have to wait 20 years for which is insane considering it might not even be good because when have they ever truly captured a Sondheim musical's essence in a movie adaptation. But THAT BEING SAID. they cast both Charley and Mary to be played by queer actors. which imo is the correct move. a power move even.

I feel like people sometimes confuse general body dysmorphia with gender dysphoria? Im a bit tired of transmascs complaining that they dont want to go bald and "be ugly" when they go on t and transfems complaining estrogen didnt give them big boobs... sorry no one told u this b4 youre not entitled to be "hot", and there is not one single way to be a man or a woman. Dont fall prey to the ridiculous molds society created for what people are supposed to look like, cmon now...

The thought of Al Haitham snapping and having his Akasha turn his eyes red and his thoughts unrestrained because Azar was blatantly deeming Cyno as an “untrustworthy” individual and keeping him on a metaphorical leash drives me insane

i really think that théoden, and éomer to some extent, discouraging éowyn from fighting is more complex than them being like "women can't and shouldn't fight." i don't think it's really even a matter of whether or not they think her a capable enough swordsman to hold her own in a fight. i believe that, at their core, her uncle and brother only want to keep éowyn safe, and keeping her out of the fight is the most efficient way of doing that.
because every time théoden and éomer leave éowyn behind, they also leave her in charge of rohan. the king (and the captain of his guard, háma, who suggests éowyn to sit on the throne in his stead in the books) trusts her to rule his kingdom wisely while he is away.
they don't necessarily mean for it to be an insult that she has to stay behind, but because it just isn't the kind of charge éowyn wants for herself, she obviously doesn't take it well. she rebels, dons a disguise and calls herself dernhelm as she rides to battle with the rohirrim.
all of which is just to say, i think keeping éowyn off the battlefield isn't exactly just a flat, flavorless "women no fight" sexism, but a more complex combination of the "classically male" desires to protect and venerate womanhood while forcing an alternative path said men perceive to be equivalent, to the detriment of said woman's agency.

Doodled and completely redesigned another OC over the last few days 🥲 She had a name but I need to rename her bc I don't like the name she used to have...
[Image ID: The first picture is a full body drawing of the girl. Her arms are spread away from her sides with her sleeves hanging limply from them and her veil covers her face.]
[The second picture is of the same girl, a waist up shot. She's cringing away from the right side of the picture, a distressed and upset expression barely visible from underneath her veil which is fluttering away from her face. There is a speech bubble on the right side of her going "!?". End ID]
