When we talk about gothic romance, it's important to know that the genre and it's themes were established with works where authors such as Ann Radcliffe wrote about the terrifying ordeals that their female protagonists had to battle while struggling to be with the ones they loved. Gothic romance was then characterized with a really important theme, strong emotions.

We know that Dracula as a novel is more of a classical gothic novel than a gothic romance, but today Jonathan's love and devotion to Mina could not be more gothic romantic in the best way possible. Not only this is an entry solely dedicated to his pov, but also his strong emotions are overflowing every word that he wrote down in his journal.

His words for Mina, and every reaction he has to her is framed with his ever growing love for her, a love that keeps growing and growing to an unreachable point where it's expressed how he will (and is ready to do) sacrifice himself to her if it is necessary.

After the terrifying ordeals they went together Jonathan is ready to do anything for her. If his emotions and love allowed him to survive the wild of transylvania, now that Mina is by his side working, and loving him, I cannot wait to see how these strong emotions play in their mutual revenge against the Count.

Today Jonathan wrote how in will he leaves everything to Mina if he doesn't survive. This is important for the way he expressed it, if only he doesn't survive, because Mina dying is out of the question. He prepared a safety net for his love if she after all transforms into a vampire, even if that means he will die.

Jonathan expresses his love with both words, and actions. He is ready to do anything for Mina, she will call to him, and he will answer. A perfect gothic romance, one that is so sweet, so wild, and almost self destructive that our protagonists are ready to walk into the unknowing darkness hand by hand while looking into eachother's eyes.

Gotta bone to pick with Aziraphale *and* Crowley. The lesbians told you wisely to share what was truly on your mind — Crowley buddy, you were very close but I just feeeel like you haven’t gotten it all out. I mean BOTH of you were SO CLOSE to fully crying your eyes out and you still held it in — there is SOMETHING that you’re STILL STEPPING AROUND.

Like I think Crowley thinks he said everything on his mind but if you compare it, he sort of just repeated what he said to Aziraphale in S1: “Let’s go off together” but he hasn’t said what that means, what that means in his mind, what that means for them, what Aziraphale means to him. Aziraphale hasn’t done such either.

I’m just as torn up over the GAPING CLIFFHANGER as everyone else, but really there’s lots more work to be done before Crowley and Aziraphale can truly go off together. They have loved each other so reverently through the centuries, so naturally and absentmindedly that they’re practically a married couple, but that doesn’t stop from the fact they’ve made mistakes that need some addressing. They’re so amazingly in sinc with one another yet it feels like they still dance around their own feelings and core of it all.

Its my favorite thing ever how when my cats are sleeping next to eachother but not really cuddling if i go over and pet one of them most of the time it triggers this thing where one will suddenly go over and start licking the other one and then they start grooming eachother furiously until settling down again but this time like laying right up against eachother and nestling their heads on eachother and stuff like cuddling and they fall back asleep. I can't even put into words how happy it makes me
