Man after watching the splatoon direct ive been having different thoughts about the salmonids and their whole deal (cuz i love the goofy little guys). Like dont get me wrong i LOVE salmon run its alot of fun to do (i enjoy it more than turf battles honestly) but it is interesting to see the salmons escalating their attacks against the inklings not only with more big special dudes but THE KING coming on land to beat ass. Also the fact that the salmonids are now just attacking the city outright is so cool to see.

And the thing is the salmonids have every right to attack! The inklings are stealing their fucking eggs!! And giving them to someone who seems to be eating them or whatever mr griz is doing to them. Mr Griz got a bunch of bored squids looking to make some cash to steal from a different species and started a war that HE profits from and the that the inklings and salmonids both suffer because of it. I will say i am a little disappointed that we still seem to be on Griz’s side cuz i would switch to the salmon side so fast cuz we know salmon and inklings can work together cuz of the new little one we work with in the single player story (small fry i think?). And honestly i doubt it would be that hard to make a salmon run mode where we fight with the salmon to get their eggs back. I imagine something like instead of fighting the salmon we fight robots or corrupted versions of them that Griz had made and we collect the eggs from destroying them like in bas salmon run.

Last few things is 1 ive seen a lot of concepts for a salmon player character which im all down for but i highly doubt it would happen but would be cool. 2 im really curious to see what the paid dlc will have i just hope its like the octo expansion cuz i loved that, tge dlc seems to include pearl and marina from the teaser so im curious. And 3 as a little notice the octarians that we fight in the single player mode are covered in brown hair. Hair or fur that is the same color as grizzly bears...interesting

Anyway thats my crazy rant about it im just hoping for more lore on salmonids! And also the idols are great i would die for big guy and i love the 5 head on frye and shiver is so cool (and intimidating to me for some reason??)

lets start with 3 because thats where the timeline starts

if they had a penny for every time they let an octarian who just got to inkopilis live with them theyd have two pennies. which isnt a lot but its weird it happened twice right?

which brings us to the next one which is actually an octoling oc i made back in like 2016??? def splatoon 1 era. shes been redesigned a bajillion times but the story is mostly the same. after the octavio fight she is also one of those octos who tried to get to inkopolis. this one was found by three who was like. i jave no idea what ur saying ur coming with the the old man totes knows octarian from his divorce. this n that and they teach eachother language and culture and its sweet and cool and they probabyl had some wlw stuff going on until 3 had a wholeass gender crisis

this is her btw. the drawing on the right is more up to date. im still thinking of renaming her. ill never find a name that fits. her original name was marianna but thats too close to marina!!!!!

shes also a fashion designer! she likes to use traditional octarian or military designs in her clothes. her pieces are not meant for turf wars though. shes still in close contact with three, and they hang out a lot. she wants to get three to ask the squid sisters if they could wear some of her clothes on a splatfest. three forgets.

next up!!!!! agent 4. i have two of those. they independently became agent 4 and then unrelatedly also became college roommates.

hash is more of a canon adjacent agent 4. poser, loser, really dramatic and really loud. kidna does whatever they want and also likes to leave graffitti on the kettles they clear. theyre also an only child. they also call marie mom jsut to annoy her. also their hairstyle is the bob in the front but the back is spiky/shaved. theyre a silly lil punk.

ikarus is a cynical asshole. and also a self centered poser whos set on looking cool for whoevers watching. he has 2 younger siblings and 1 older sister. hes from outside greater inkopolis, thinks hes better than the in city inkopolitans but behaves the exact same. he sucks i love him. he really looks up to n respects marie bc she reminds him of his elder sister. his fav brand is toni kensa

ikarus got the agent job first, n got rlly mad when they found out that theres another agent 4 bc he didnt show up enough nd marie just hired someone else. they share a uniform. they try to annoy eachother by puttinf the weirdest smelling stuff in the uniform b4 leaving it at the canyon. when talking ab em as agent 4 i like to use #4 for hash and n°4 for ikarus

the two also have a 3rd roommate

she doesnt have a name though. and if she does i forgot it :(

the three actually make a pretty good unit in their apartement. hash and ikarus only find out theyre both agent 4 when its time for the boss fight and both of them show up to get it done with. theyre both very competitive. they end up fighting over it and hash wins. ikarus is on the truck w sheldon and marie and is yelling insults at the battlefield until marie shuts him up so she can sing.

thw three roommates also always do salmon run shifts together. if they fuck up on a wave they always blame it on the one freelancer. yes they also kiss.

theyve always been really fascinated with inklings and also were going to become an engineer before running off and landing in the metro.

they are very well spoken but also pretty shy. they try to make a good impression on people. finds it hard to trust others.

it took a while until he got used to sleeping in a bed. still sleeps with an eye open sometimes. its a habit.

theyre usualyl the one forcing three into at least okay looking clothes. oh also this tall loser likes to wear heels n platforms. hes literally taller than marina and still wears heels.

he actually started learning inklish back in octo valley from really outdated books. after coming to inkopolis hes been given a buncha annotated language books from marina (and from three, who still had the ones they used w the other octo girlie). but they still end up using some really old phrases and words that kinda leave some people perplexed.

oh also they're not THAT good at fighting (they were never a soldier) theyre smart and persistent though. still ended up severely in debt w pearl bc of the metro. pearl offered he can just work as stage crew for off the hook for a few tours or so and theyre good. he took the offer immediately bc bro barely got income to repay that all normally.

thinking ... of a warriors oc

its set during bluestars prophecy / the first arc which btw i havent read in forever so forgive any mistakes i make

starting off with Mosskit passing, Snowfur won’t let her niece/nephews life be cut so short, she guides their soul to a currently unborn kit of Graypools. she wasn’t allowed to do this, so StarClans preeetty mad at her

the kit survives, but his littermates(Morningkit, Splashkit, and Swankit) do not. he’s a small, frail little white tom with grey flecks dotted across his fur.

he’s named Salmonkit, for his determination to survive, which reminded his mother of a salmon. Oakheart brings Mistykit and Stonekit, Graypool takes them in as she’s got more than enough room to spare for them. they grow up together believing each other to be full siblings.

Salmon is given the name Salmoneyes for his ability to spot and catch fast fish, and unusually bright yellow eyes. theyre raised as normal in canon, but where it really diverts is when Graypool dies, and his siblings true heritage is revealed.

TigerStar orders Stonefur to kill the apprentices to prove their loyalty as canon, and he refuses. but before Blackfoot and Darkstripe can kill Stonefur, Salmoneyes jumps in and attacks both of the shadowclan warriors, giving his siblings and the apprentices the chance to run.

Salmoneyes is wounded badly, but manages to escape thanks to the spirit of Snowfur, whom startles the warriors away.

the five make their way to thunderclans camp, seeking refuge and their wounds being tended to. Salmoneyes is distraught for a while, but Mistyfoot and Stonefur are there to comfort him. someone(if Spotted is still alive then her, if not uh???? maybe Snowfur’s ghost) reveals the truth of Mistyfoot and Stonefur’s parents, but Salmoneyes still sees them as his family.

the three go back to RiverClan after a while, but Salmoneyes feels uncomfortable in RiverClan after the events that took place with TigerClan, and decides he’d rather live in ThunderClan. his sibling are sad to see him go, but promise to catch up as often as they can.

Salmoneyes works hard to prove himself in ThunderClan, taking Featherpaw as an apprentice to make her more comfortable in ThunderClan(after they fled to TC, Feather and Storm decided to stay there due to being afraid of being outcasted again.)

as for the later arcs and the silver cat prophecy uhhh it’ll be linked to someone else since three cats for thunderclan in the journey is too much for anyone to handle

maybe its salmoneyes whos destined to die since starclan is still peeved at his reincarnation shit but he survives the fall? beating the odds and pissing starclan off even more without knowing it

nylon started out as my splatsona in splatoon 2, based on the bangs cut that i usually used & my favorite outfit in game, sneaky beanie, takoroka nylon vintage, mint drakoniks. still slaps, waiting for all the gear to come back to s3😭 they were kinda a blank slate for a while since i didnt know what to do w them. but since theyre a sona i get to unload whatever personal bullshit on them! when i first started playing splatoon i got obsessed quickly w salmon run (still am) but also grizzco as a whole, i LOVED the mystery and shadyness and grungy atmosphere of it all. i tried to do something w that for a really long time (bout a year) but now its just an alternate universe thing. i tried to make alternations but. clare from fleabag voice ITS UNSALVAGABLE. um so au it is.

anyw the more ive developed them the more theyve kinda become their own character. they have the usual rough childhood, gets into messy bs and toxic friend groups as a teenager, gets kicked out at 18, goes from shitty job to shitty job, theyre just a depressed mfer! they love getting high and getting some. theyd rather die than get close to people or form meaningful bonds. they simultaneously think theyre hot shit and the worst. eyebags galore. oh yeah they could commit war crimes given any good reason (not morally) but otherwise theyre lazy. they have good music taste but also have a selection of sad songs they listen to when the homies arent around. she loves judd the cat. when they were a kid they begged their parents for ages to get a pet spider (are tarantulas canon in splatoon idk). they got it btw (named blaze) their parents were Not happy. theyve drunkenly passed out in public an embarrasing amount of times. she rates her hookups in her notes app, divided into categories even. she hasnt had a healthy meal in months. she doesnt know what a mental health is. she has one of those “damn bitch you live like this” rooms full of empty cans. she can play the piano and knows minecraft songs. they have double the daddy issues. theyre eerily similar to jessie pinkman from breakind bad but /j. they act tough & pretend they dont like physical affection cus they dont wanna admit they need a hug. idk how to talk abt ocs normally online i didnt even say basic info. theyre 22, nb purple or blue ink. ive coped w this bitch too much i owe them one. half of my sketchbook is filled w doodles of them

ok so im gonna stick to the bird kids cuz theyre a lot easier to explain GSJFD (maybe someday ill give my other ocs refs and backstory stuff....)

all four of em are very much based off how i play the game as each character, so i pretty much just grab my in-game behaviour and give it to em as a personality.

so, lorikeet! splat3 is still very new but i think ive somehow already solidified their personality lmao. theyre super reckless, pretty much always falling off stages and getting themself splatted by doing stupid things like running headfirst to a tacticooler or trying to challenge the eliter that wont leave them alone (i think mahi-mahi is the absolute worst for this). they like to go a little bit cazy and get as many kills as possible, which is silly when the only mode u play is turf war... (on that, there is not a single splatoon game that has gotten me to like ranked/league. i played it a few times and then swore off it, so now all four of the kids hate ranked lol)

lori fucking ADORES deep cut so theyve got the three earrings in their right ear bc they wanna be like shiver and frye. on deep cut, they love splatfests and all the music n fun stuff that comes with it. theyre weirdly not too competitive when it comes to defending their team, BUT they will go extra feral during splatfest turf wars and go complete beast mode. they still dont have a main weapon? favours brushes but thats pippins thing so they should probably pick something else GDKGS

oh they have the worst adhd brain. if they see something cool happening in the bg of a stage they will just straight up stop in their tracks and watch for a while, completely oblivious to whatever is happening in the match. and of course the moment they hear the tacticooler they will run for it even if theyre literally in the opposite end of the stage.... stupid. favourite stage is yet to be decided, gotta let the game marinate for a while longer

as the new agent 3 lori is pretty good at following orders, they just kinda... die in the dumbest possible ways. trying to jump through walls, walking straight off ledges, accidentally attracting attention to themself by throwing lil buddy right next to them. but theyre pretty good at fighting! also they like annoying the captain, because of course (this doesnt bode well for kiwi)

id like to build more on their character eventually but that requires me playing more splat3 and ive been rly unmotivated to do so >:/ ive barely played any salmon run and still havent touched table turf. augh. lori u will grow as a person i promise

now PIPPIN! (she/they) theyre my kid from octo expansion! shes very silly but surprisingly strong and skilled. never asked for help from OTH and went through every single test multiple times to get every weapon ticked (hell). also enjoys fighting inner agent 3 because ??? clearly a lot more competent than theyre letting on.

so once pip came to the surface they were very much like "id rather NOT do the whole fighting thing again" and jumped into turf wars with the intention of just having fun and messing with people. her gear set is 100% QSJ cuz she likes annoying the enemy team and then jumping away like a coward when theyre cornered (it jumpscares people bc they dont expect an octo to jump THAT fast).

she uses brush so that they can draw love hearts in enemy base :] they think its very cute and gets sad when ppl ink over it. also if an enemy tries to initiate a party they will always join bc make love not war etc. always goes for the highest inkage (highest score excluding win points was over 2000) favourite stage is inkblot art academy!

zero sense of fashion btw they either wear the QSJ gear or whatever they think will make her look hot (big fan of the octoling armour and marinas crop top). sometimes changes gender to Boy bc why the hell not, gender is arbitrary.

when grouped up with the others, they like teaming up with pigeon to cause chaos and havoc. shes very excited to see lori joining the team cuz theyre equally as insane as the other two! kiwi is the only one carrying a braincell here rip

PIGEON time!! (also she/they) technically my first oc because splatoon 2 was my first game! so she definitely has the most going for them. foil flingza main (my beloved), absolutely a frontliner and goes for the kill as much as possible. very good at sneak attacks! main gear is almost entirely special charge up (sorry. im the og missile spammer) except for ninja squid which they use to scare the shit outta ppl.

pigeon adores the birds u see hanging out on various stages, especially the pigeons (naturally). favourite stage is moray towers! i never said we had good taste. moray is excellent for roller users and allows for fast clean base inking >:]

like the others they love a good squid party but isnt always in the mood, HOWEVER she will never splat an innocent partier bc thats a dick move. if theyre not a threat, theres no need to splat.

outside of turf, pigeon is actually not a very violent person. very sweet to their friends and oh so very lesbian. she sees a pretty girl in the square and goes 😳 (btw this DOES work in battle, be a cute girl and they will be distracted). fucking absolutely obsessed with squid beatz like you have no idea, aims to get gold on every hard mode song. favourite songs to play are frantic aspic, shark bytes, and entropical. she and pippin love playing games like this together, i bet theyd be great dance duo.

in hero mode, pigeon is naturally a completionist and obtained every weapon. fucking loves harassing marie and annoying her as much as possible. adores callie so much <3 their best speedrun time is 40 sec on octo samurai (sadly cant reach the world record of 39)

unlike pippin they actually have a pretty good fashion sense, always coordinating their outfits and ink colour to match. a very stylish squid!

now kiwi is an interesting one. i first played splatoon 1 in beginning of 2018, so sadly i missed out on the splatfests. still got plenty of turf in and played hero mode repeatedly bc i have brainrot!

so kiwi (again. she/they) is really into amiibo challenges, especially the kraken challenge. being a kraken for that long makes em feel powerful, and its lotsa fun. they actually spend far more time on hero missions than anything else, they enjoy turf on the occasion but find it weirdly intimidating (favourite stage is flounder heights!). she feels most at home in the valley, with craig and the squid sisters. theyre far too sympathetic toward octolings (unlike pigeon who just goes fucking ham) and tries her best to just avoid fighting them entirely. because of this, shes pretty good at stealth missions, especially since she rarely makes much noise anyway. theyre definitely the most low-key out of the four agents.

SO!! why do i name them all after birds? because.... i like birds :D yes im a wannabe ornithologist and birds are my main special interest. i also mainly name them after aus/nz birds cuz im just Like That. we have cool birds in australia, and lorikeet was just far too fitting to pass up. (btw pippin is short for peregrine falcon)

despite being so skilled in hero mode missions they do actually get hurt a lot and almost always has some kind of bandaid or gauze on her body from various injuries. is it a lack of skill, or just recklessness? hmmm (its definitely just because she doesnt take enough care of their body lol).

if kiwi were to be captain in splatoon 3, theyd definitely be just constantly scruffing new 3 by the collar to stop them from doing something stupid. is very afraid of a new idiot joining the gang, as if pip n pidge werent bad enough. all 4 as a splatfest team would definitely be the most chaotic thing possible.

also theyre this way because when i draw squirds (tagged on my blog as "wings au") i think its fun to see how different they all look! kiwi would certainly be more fitting as a bird of prey but i think they look so silly with the stubby wings so im not changing my mind. this does mean shes real fast at running! pip and lori are the fastest flyers, pigeon is just kinda in between rip

final note, theyre all at LEAST 18 just so that its not weird. they all use she/they except lori, whos exclusively they/them. they all fucking hate ranked but love hero missions. also all of them have 1 braincell bouncing between them (mainly held by kiwi)
