Caregiver! Haymitch Abernathy Headcanons!

He tries so hard to be strict/have some kind of structure-but this man is the biggest pushover.

All is takes is one sniffle and his little is given whatever they desire.

He prefers to be indoors so I could see him catering towards younger/calmer regressors

If his little does prefer the outdoors, hes definitely the type to just watch from afar

“Ay, don’t touch that!!” Is said about a dozen times when they’re out there

The second his little is napping, he is too. so you can usually find them both passed out on the couch.

He’s not the most prepared carer, but he definitely makes an attempt

Like he’ll to bring forget about 873 things BUT he remebered their favorite paci

He can be a bit aggressive at times without realizing it, but he’s always quick to fix his mistakes

He’s been tempted to get rid of his geese many times before, but his little always convinces him to keep them-and he can’t say no to them

Overall he may be a little bit confused on exactly what he’s doing but he’s gonna get it done for his kiddo ☹️

Little Katniss Headcanons

Katniss is such a toddler regressor omg, like, textbook definition, usually drops into the 3-5 range

so prone to tantrums and outbursts too, often if another little's being mean to peeta kiddo is ready to THROW HANDS

she doesn't like her bow and arrow while in headspace, or anything that reminds her of the games, really. It freaks her out and can cause panic attacks

on a lighter note, she wears her hair in two braids when she's little instead of her usual one. (Effie does her hair nice and pretty in the mornings)

Her cg is Haymitch, who she dubbed as Papa once she started living in 13

her #1 playmate is Peeta. All the time. They're a package deal

(she likes to be babied sometimes, but only when she's alone with her papa so shhh.)

Holy moly, the sad but smol bean. She's usually in a negative headspace during regression, which makes it an unenjoyable experience for her.

But that's okay...mostly!

No cg, mainly because she doesn't quite trust anyone to take care of her in that mindset.

But she does love her soft things.

I mean come on

You can't look at her and say "yup, this one doesn't like soft things"

It just doesn't fit

She'd be super super sweet too, constantly giving little drawings/trinkets as gifts to Prim

Is a whiner. She does NOT like being told no. But that's just how it goes in this ig

Has the potential to be silly, but isn't due to...tragic backstory stuff

So Haymitch is Katniss’s caregiver but would you believe he was the last to find out she’s a little? Well he was.

If you’ve read my last post you’d know that Cinna finds out immediately after the first games and Madge not long after that. With Katniss’s permission Cinna tells Effie at the start of the victory tour, she’s her escort and needs to know, and Peeta finds out the first night he stays in her room.

So Haymitch. No one wants to tell Haymitch. He’s emotionally volatile at the best of times and despite his obvious connection to Katniss no one could predict how he’d react. So Effie and Cinna make sure that Katniss’s little side is kept very distant from Haymitch.

But subconsciously at least, Katniss feels differently about this. When he hugs her it feels different to anyone else, when he strokes her hair and she feels like she might drop on the spot, when hearing his voice is what she wants most of all when she’s little.

So one night, a few days into the victory tour, Katniss wakes up early in the morning. Earlier than even Peeta. She’s little and bored. Despite a few attempts she can’t wake Peeta and ends up walking aimlessly around the train, even though she knows she shouldn’t. Katniss is walking around with her stuffie in her arms and her paci in her mouth. There’s no doubt that anyone who saw her would know.

And so logically she should avoid Haymitch and maybe go see if Cinna is awake yet but instead she ends up in the dining cart where she finds Haymitch swirling around a cup of something that’s presumably not coffee. Katniss stills, shuffling nervously on the spot when Haymitch looks up. Momentarily she fears for what Effie and Cinna had wanted her of. But then she remembers that it’s Haymitch. Who, despite his rough edges and biting personality cared about her. Undoubtedly.

Maybe there was something chemical about their connection because when their eyes met Katniss’s worries seemed to dissipate. And seeing Katniss standing in front of him, oversized cardigan sleeves covering her hands, pacifier bobbing tightly in her mouth, stuffed rabbit held closely to her chest, Haymitch physically felt a part of him melt.

Unsure how one should act in this situation Haymitch opens his arms, putting his mug down on the table with no hesitation. Katniss clambers onto his lap, feeling more content against his chest than she’d ever felt in her life.

And that’s how the others find them almost 20 minutes later when it’s completely unquestionable that Haymitch was Katniss’s caregiver.

Little! Finnick O’dair Headcanons!

I could see him having a pretty wide age range, like 2-8ish

SOO clingy, constantly at his cgs side no matter the situation

When on the younger side he’s pretty quiet, but when he’s in that 4-6 area that boy is a blabber mouthhh

Just constant streams of asking “why?” to Every. Single. Thing

He’s a biter. He doesn’t mean any harm by it, it’s more so a cuteness aggression thing 😭

He LIVES for baths, as much as he loves the ocean, there’s nothing better than a bubble bath with his favorite toy fish

He’s named every single one of them, and tells his cg facts about their species

He’s the opposite of a picky eater, as in he eats everything-edible or not

His cg has had to wash sand out of his mouth more times than they’d like to admit

He somehow ends up getting messy no matter what was going on

Playing with blocks somehow led to him being covered in marker (he definitely blames Peeta)

Silly boy. That’s all he’s just so silly ☹️

Took Effie with me to therapy last week! We had coffee there and then my therapist said to let her play in the ball pit and on the swing. On the way home we stopped by the store too and bought some syrup for coffees at home!

The Hunger Games Agere Headcanons Part II

Characters: Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, and Finnick Odair!

A/N: I’m still trying to get better at writing so I hope you guys like these!

Katniss Everdeen

A little, but a big kid regressor, I think! Like 7 or 8! She needs to be taken care of but also can help take care of other littles a little bit. Really good at entertaining and keeping other littles preoccupied, surprisingly.

She gets a lot less shy when she’s regressed, so she sings more. Mainly just humming, though. But it’s still something!

She loves walks through nature, especially the meadow. She’ll point to a bunch of different plants and tell you all about them while you hold her hand and walk with her.

She has a small, fake bow and arrow that she uses whenever she’s little. Just to play with and keep herself preoccupied. She got sad when you told her she can’t shoot while she’s little, so you had to make her a toy version.

She likes nicknames a lot, but she acts like she doesn’t. Please call her “Kat” or “Kitty”. She’ll act like she hates it but she likes it, it makes her feel smaller.

She’s normally very adverse to physical touch and affection, but when she’s little she needs it, especially because she mainly regresses due to trauma. After she wakes up from haunting nightmares about the games, she desperately needs you to hold her.

Will call you whatever you like, but more parental terms like “Mama” or “Dada” tend to slip out because her mom was very emotionally absent and her dad passed at a young age.

If you aren’t around or you’re busy, Haymitch babysits. He acts grouchy about it, but he’s actually quite pleased to. He won’t tell you that, though. Not in a million years.

Peeta Mellark

Flip, huge little lean. Like he’ll take care of another little if he needs to or if they want him too, and he loves it. But he regresses a lot.

He’s a very young regressor, too. Like I’m talking around 2-3 years old. He is a TODDLER. He waddles and babbles and stuff too and it’s so cute. 🙁🙁🙁

Very sensitive and emotional. Easily triggered, especially after the hijacking. He needs constant 24/7 care and comfort.

He loves coloring!! He’ll color you soooo many pictures and show them off to you!! He’s so proud even if it’s messy and he colored outside the lines. And you better be nice to him and tell him he did an amazing job. Or else. >:(

Him and Katniss are playmates!! Although Katniss plays too rough sometimes and makes him cry. She immediately feels bad, though, and tries to comfort him.

Like she accidentally shot him in the face with her fake bow and arrow once and they both ended up crying. 😭

He likes helping you bake whenever he’s little!! He usually does the baking all by himself but he can’t when he’s little so he asks if you can make cookies or something simple and if he can help. Or, if you’re better at baking and like doing it regularly like him, he’ll ask to help you paint decorations on cakes or whatever you’re making. :)

He loves nicknames so much. Whatever you choose to call him will make him giggle and smile no matter what it is.

He also likes calling you more parental names but whatever works best for you will work for him! He doesn’t mind!

On the very rare occasion he is taking care of somebody else, though, he’s very soft and gentle. He mainly takes you outside to play and does fun activities like finger painting and coloring with you. He’ll make sure you’re well fed and well rested but he doesn’t really have any rules or anything like that. He’s not really someone that’s a permanent caregiver, more like a babysitter!

Loves physical touch. Will cling to you and his friends. Mainly you, though, since you’re his caregiver. He’ll always be at least holding your hand.

His regression is also mostly involuntary. The hijacking made it worse too. He regresses almost every other day now and needs constant assistance. You have to reassure him a lot that he isn’t bothering or inconveniencing you, though. He gets so insecure about it and he feels so bad. 🙁

If you aren’t around or if you’re busy, he goes to Finnick. Finnick is Annie’s caregiver, so he knows how to treat littles of his age. And he’s incredibly patient as well, so you always feel comfortable leaving Peeta in Finnick’s care for a bit.

Finnick Odair

Caregiver. Does well with littles of all ages, but baby/toddler regressors tend to gravitate towards him for some reason. He doesn’t know why and he’s a little confused!

He’s a very fun loving caregiver but he’s also very strict. That man has been through way too much and is incredibly protective over you. He’s so carefree and fun loving but he knows how to talk to you sternly so you know he’s serious.

Sometimes when he gets all stern and serious like that, you’ll make fun of him by coping his facial expressions.

Like he’ll be like

“Y/N, listen to me. You need to hold my hand while we’re out here, okay? I don’t need you wandering off and getting lost. Do not let go of my hand again, understand?” with a super serious face

And you’ll just be like “yes, sir, I understand, >:(“ in a mocking stern voice with a mocking stern face.

And he’ll just sigh and be like “I’m serious!” and you’ll be like “I’m serious too!! >>:((((“ and it’s really funny to everybody except him 😭

Takes you out swimming. A lot. Loves the beach. He’ll set up a little date where you two can eat lunch and then go swimming all day. You have to stay right by him, though, especially in the water. The waves can be dangerous!

Will call you ocean related nicknames as well as normal pet names. Like “Seashell”, “Darling”, “Fishy”, “Sweetheart”, etc.

Likes being called “Dada”, “Daddy”, and “Finny”. He thinks those are all so, so cute coming from you. He loves those names so much. 😭😭😭

Is a very clingy caregiver. He has to hold your hand at all times and likes to put you in his lap. He’s just so protective. He needs to know you’re okay at all times or else he gets scared and anxious. He just loves you so much.

He gives you little pacifier kisses if you use pacis. Like he just kisses the front of your pacifier before kissing all over your little face. 🙁🙁🙁

He takes care of Annie and Peeta as well, both of which are baby/toddler regressors.

He’s strict, like I said. Sets bedtimes, mealtimes, you have to hold his hand whenever you’re in public or outside, you aren’t allowed to go into the ocean without him right there beside you, only a set amount of people are allowed to be around you alone while you’re regressed because he’s concerned for your safety.

Overall, he’s literally just a dad. Like this man would be not only a perfect caregiver but also a great father. I love him so much. 🙁🙁🙁

Nightmares

Haymitch often stayed up late, often nursing a beer, often only sleeping for a couple hours. He was just about to open his second beer of the night while resting on his couch, when he heard a knock on his door. He sighed, setting his unopened drink to the side. Who the hell was up this late?

“Can I help you?” Haymitch mumbled tiredly, running a hand down his face, not even bothering to look at who it was. There was silence for a bit, until he heard their breath hitch and stutter and looked up. Katniss. Shit.

“Haymitch,” Katniss eventually whispered tearfully. She was soaked, she’d likely walked through victors village to his place in nothing but her pajamas. Her eyes were puffy and red from her crying, and she was shaking like a leaf. Not to mention she was obviously Little, her fingers hooked onto her bottom lip.

“Sweet girl, hey,” Haymitch greeted softly. “What’s going on? Here, come in, kid.” He gently tugs her inside when she doesn’t make any move to come in herself. He quickly shuts the door behind her to stop any more rain or chill to come inside. “I’ll grab you a towel, here.”

When Haymitch tried to walk away slowly to grab a towel from the washroom, Katniss looks like she’s gonna start crying all over again, and clings onto his arm with a strength that's slightly bruising, "No."

He pauses, "Hey, okay. I hear you, kiddo. I'm not going anywhere without you. Shh," he tries to soothe her gently, pulling away his arm to scratch her head. "What happened? Couldn't sleep?"

She nodded, her chest tightening, "Couldn't- had-," she trailed off. "The games," she explained eventually. Ah. That tracks. He continued to scratch at her head.

"I know, sweet girl," Haymitch hums. "I get them too, they suck," he gives her a sad smile, bringing down his hand and thumbing away her tears. "You did what you had to do, honey."

She eventually nodded, still looking unsure. "Let's get you dried off, okay? Then we'll get you back to bed, sweetheart," he explained patiently, leading her to the washroom and grabbing a towel.

He made quick work of drying off her hair the best he could, not bothering to brush out her tangles. He really didn't want her to cry anymore tonight. "You bring a change of clothes, kiddo?" Katniss shook her head and Haymitch bit back a sigh, wasn't her fault. She was pretty little, of course she wouldn't have remembered something like that. "Okay, that's fine, kid. I have extra clothes."

he quickly grabbed her a hoodie of his and some sweatpants, handing them to her gently, “You want me to leave the room?” He questioned, not all that surprised when she quickly shakes her head. “No, alright, I’ll just turn around then, kid. Lemme know if you need help.”

She made decently quick work of getting changed, which Haymitch was pretty impressed by. “You all done? Ready to head to bed now, sweet girl?” He questioned gently.

She shook hehead scrunching up her nose, “No!” Haymitch frowned, he really should’ve expected that. Of course she wouldn’t wanna go to bed after a nightmare.

“Okay, sweetheart,” he whispers. “I get it, but you have to get to sleep. Can we problem solve here?” Katniss shrugged, sniffling loudly. Haymitch paused to think about how to get the fussy little to sleep. “Would it help if I just walked around with you for a bit maybe?”

Katniss scrunches up her nose, “Don’t wanna walk,” she protested and Haymitch shook his head.

“I didn’t mean that you’d have to walk around. I meant that I’d carry you, kid, walk around for a bit to calm you down, that sound good?” Katniss eventually nodded hesitantly, reaching her hands out for him to pick her up. “Good girl.” He praised softly as he picked her up.

It didn’t take very long, with the gentle rocking, for Katniss to fall asleep in his arms, “Night, sweet girl,” he whispered, kissing her hair. “Sleep well this time.”

I feel like he ADORES being a caregiver, like not that anyone else doesn’t, but he just loves it so much ☹️

He’s overly prepared for any occasion possible like the weather could have a 3% chance of rain and he has 2 umbrellas and a raincoat for his little just in case

He’s very overprotective as well,constantly worried about his little even if he’s 1000% sure they’re safe and secure

He’s on the stricter side (having a set schedule, rules, etc.), only because he wants to be the best carer possible and he’s such a worry wart

He spoils his little as much as they can handle

Glanced at a toy in a store? It’s in the cart

I don’t think he’d have a preference on titles, but he especially melts when he’s called Papa.

One of his favorite thing to do is take his little to the beach

If they don’t like the ocean then he’s more than happy to help them build elaborate sandcastles or let them bury him in sand

But,if they do like the ocean, they’ll spend hours swimming together. (He’s become a pro at playing mermaids)

I could see him singing Sea Shanties as lullabies

I feel like he’s a pretty good cook, so his little gets only the best meals (with deserts provided by Uncle Peeta ofc)

He’s really great with littles of all ages, but especially younger littles (like 0-6)

He’s more into the cartoons that his little watches than they are and ends up watching them long after his little has stopped paying attention (he’s the biggest Bluey fan)

I’m genuinely going insane and need to get my thoughts out, so enjoy my rambling‼️ :3

I apologize for how long this is and the amount of times I say ‘like’🙁

Regresses to around 0-7 but usually in the toddler range of like 2-4.

He’s SUCH a sweet boy, like he’s constantly worried about everyone else even when he’s supposed to be the one getting taken care of ☹️

Needs 24/7 attention/care but tries to be independent and fails miserably. Like he’s nervous to ask for help bc he feels like he doesn’t deserve it

Semi-verbal, but major babbler, like he’s just constantly making noises and giggling

If he has an episode when little it’s definitely more of a sad/emotional or fear based outburst rather than angry/aggressive one. (I hope that makes sense lol)

Chronic thumb-sucker, like no matter how hard his cg tries or offers alternatives hes constantly sucking/chewing on his thumb and hands in general

The kitchen is destroyed at least once a week bc he tries to bake on his own

Contact is a NEEDD for him, like if you’re not at least holding his hand at all hours he will be extremely offended (pout for 5 minutes).

Very wobbly/clumsy no matter how old he’s feeling, he’s constantly just toppling over

Half of his cgs day is saying stuff like “Uh oh! Are you okay?” And he always has at least 2 bandaids

LOVES having his hair played with, if you do he’ll be asleep in literal seconds

Prefers to call his cg more parental names if they’re okay w it (ex: mama/dada)

Pretty calm regressor, like he prefers quieter activities like drawing or simple puzzles and pretend play :3
